You mean the notebook was supplied with 64bit Windows 7?
Or if it came with 32bit, was it okay then?

I am in the midst of a 7-day free trial at Lynda.com learning Illustrator.  My illustrator is so slow to respond open, save, any work in it.  Any minor change takes such a long time to process (including changing a fill color.....change C to 50, wait wait wait wait, then I can change y to 50 , wait wait wait wait ten I can change next color.)
    Impossible to work with
    What can I do?

I realise this post is a little old, but for those that stumble apon this looking for solutions or ideas for fixes here's my 2 cents,
I'm experiencing the same issues as described. I've tried a host of other fixes related to fonts, clearing AI cache, booting into safe mode to test, etc. So far the only thing that has brought AI back from comatose mode is turning off explorer. In Windows Task Manager, go to processes find explorer.exe and end task. WARNING: this will disable you Windows "window" interface as well as the windows startbar. You will need to use a third party dock software to easily navigate and use your PC. To turn explorer back on go to the applications window of the task manager (hit Ctrl + Alt + Del) click New Task and type "explorer.exe" in the "open" box and click OK. Please note that this suggestion is not a permanent fix but a work around for desparate times and perhaps a lead on a fix for someone trying to get to the bottom of this annoying issue.

  • Oracle11.2g on Vista 32bit VERSUS WIndows 7 64bit SLOWER!

I am an APEX developer and program daily on my laptop. I previously ran my APEX application(4.0.2) using the EPG HTTP server with Oracle 11.2g on a laptop with Vista 32 bit with 4gig of RAM. Performance was acceptable though a bit little slow at times.
I've just installed a complete fresh install of Oracle 11.2g with Apex 4.0.2 (to remain compatible with prod server) on my NEW Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop(i7 dual core processer with 8 gig RAM and SSD drive).
The issue is that my APEX application runs much SLOWER under Windows 7 (64 bit) and a high performance laptop than it did on VISTA 32 bit! I'm trying to troubleshoot this as being a performance problem with either one or all of the following:
    1. Windows 7 OS
    2. Oracle 11.2g
    3. APEX
    4. IE 64bit browser 9
Does anyone have any performance tips for 1,2,3 or 4 or come accross a similar situation?
I've configured the 11.2g DB with the following parameters:
    sga_max_size: 3G
    shared_pool_size: 1G
    java_pool: 64MB
    large_pool_size: 64MB
    pga_aggregate_target: 1G

PaulPIt can be very challenging to troubleshoot a performance issue across a 3-tier application.
You need to establish a benchmark for each layer & then compare & contrast the two systems.

  • Hp dv7 intel, windows 10 extremely slow boot times and lagging and glicthy

I did the free upgrade and the boot time was really really slow. once it came up it was really laggy for a little bit too.i figured might of been an issue with the upgrade instead of a clean boot. so i erased and did a clean boot as well and still had the forever boot time with black screen.. i went back to windows 7 and no issues. has anyone else had this issue with the pavalilion dv7? if so what did you do to fix it?

Hi there  & ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I have looked into the issue you are having with the boot time being slow on your Notebook with Windows 10.  I did some research and found a way to make the boot time faster. Although this site is not affiliated with HP, it has some great step by step instructions. The topic is called Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10.  Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. Updated Windows 10 drivers will become available on the HP Drivers and Downloads Page for your product. They will be released as they become available to HP. Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went. Thank you! Have a great day!

  • Windows Vista 64bit on boot camp running hot?

I have just installed win vista and seems to be running quite hot?
I hardly use Microsoft OS anyway its just for apps but that seems to be running hot and not comfortable with it.
    any idea?

Mainly this is because Windows cannot control the fans which causes the computer to heat up. It's a well known problem.
Some solutions include the use of fan control software for the Mac such as SMCFanControl to set the fan's idle speed to a higher level before booting into Windows. Another solution is Input Remapper.

  • Can I use an OEM Windows 7 64bit with Boot Camp?

I would like to put Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on my Mountain Lion 10.8.3 system using Boot Camp 5.  Can I use an OEM version of Windows or not?

You can, but it's illegal. A OEM version is designed to be installed on a new computer, not on a computer with an existing operating system, so you can install Windows from there but you should know that's illegal, so Apple doesn't support it. To do this legally, you have to get a full Windows 7 disc version and use it to install Windows.
If you need the steps to install Windows on the MacBook, read > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf

  • Installing Arch Linux after Windows 7 64bit dual boot

    Total noob here ^^
Im trying to install Arch Linux after my installation of Windows 7, without fucking up that one...
I freed up 50GB and removed it from my Windows boot partition, so Arch can be installed there, I have almost absolutely no experience with this kind of stuff since I've only used Ubuntu and Kali Linux before.
I've got a working arch image on my usb stick and i somehow can't figure out, how to install it without touching the existing partitions.
Is it possible to create a working dual boot, without changing my windows configuration?

yes its possible. What research have you done in order to install Arch. We do not hand hold here in this community. Go read up the appropriate wiki pages and ask specific questions with details in case you get stuck.

  • Windows 8/8.1 slow boot (sudden onset)

Can anyone help with a slow boot problem on Windows 8/8.1, please?  This concerns an Asus Zenbook.  It's about 15 months old, and has always booted very quickly.  Now, all of a sudden, it takes 5 minutes to get beyond the Windows logo screen.
I have tried all the standard things (clean boot, turn off Asus Fast Boot, etc), up to and including Resetting Windows.  No good: on either Windows 8 or 8.1, it still takes 5 minutes.  I have looked at the Windows System Log, and the delay occurs
right at the beginning of the Boot process.  E.g., on the most recent boot I see as the first 3 entries (note, I'm in Europe, so dates are dd/mm/yyyy, and times are in 24-hour clock):
Information    10/03/2014 19:36:23    Kernel-General    12    None The operating system started at system time ‎2014‎-‎03‎-‎10T19:36:23.490074300Z.
Information    10/03/2014 19:36:23    Kernel-Boot    30    None The firmware reported boot metrics.
Information    10/03/2014 19:40:26    FilterManager    6    None File System Filter 'FileInfo' (6.3, ‎2013‎-‎08‎-‎22T11:38:45.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.
and you can see the 4-minute gap between the 2nd and 3rd entries.  That's where the delay always comes, though sometimes the "reported boot metrics" doesn't show.
A little later in the procedure I do always get the following warning:
    Warning    10/03/2014 19:40:31    Kernel-PnP    219    (212)  The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ACPI\ACPI0008\2&daba3ff&2.
However because that comes later I can't see how it can be causing the problem, and I suspect it's an independent issue.
The machine appears to run normally once booted.  It is protected against viruses by Windows Defender.  I have looked at many posts on this and other fora on slow boot, and tried everything suggested, but none of the solutions have worked.
I have also looked widely on the web for problems with the File System Filter but nothing relevant comes up.  The machine is under warranty, and could be sent back, but that would be a serious pain so if there is a solution I can implement I would much
prefer to do so.  Thank you for looking at this.
There are no stupid rats, only misguided students

    Hi Seglea,
I have exact the same issue as you have! The only difference is the time period the splash screen / logo screen with the dots spinning in a circle hangs / delays / freezes: exactly 120 seconds. You can set your watch to that delay. During these 120 seconds
nothing happens, no HDD LED activity, just nothing. Having passed the 120 s, the HDD LED begins to flicker and the logon screen is displayed 15 s later.
For the first look at it, I believe that it is a timeout problem. Usually Windows services retry to start after just these 120 seconds (e.g. Software Protection is configured this way, but in my case it does not start although configured as auto delayed).
I believe that the clue is to find out which service causes this delay.
My event logs are exactly the same as yours (without boot metrics), I do also have your WudRfd warning!
When started, the machine operates in a fast and stable way, as if nothing harmful had ever happened.
I do also have an SSD installed as only (system) disk.
In my case the startup screen of the BIOS also stays visible for more than 10 seconds, longer as on any other computer I have had before. I also had problems during installation of Windows 8.1. After the first reboot during OS installation the BIOS POST
screen restarted in an endless loop. I could solve that problem by setting the dedicated internal Graphics memory to less than 1024M, although I own 32 GBytes of RAM.
Nothing helped so far, I permuted my BIOS settings, even Fast Boot or Ultra Fast Boot did not help.
I have installed the latest drivers, I even tried to update the firmware of my SSD, but Intels toolbox told me, that my 3 years old 520 series SSD (never had seen any firmware updates before) was up-to date! Thus Windows 8.1 should handle with it. I also
did a quick analyzation with the tools, but everything was ok.
I just run chkdsk /r /f, as Zigzag proposed, but I had nearly the same problems as you have had:
Chkdsk got stuck at 10 % for 10 minutes then the machine rebooted with the 2 minutes delay and event logs do not show any Checkdisk entry.
In the Applications log, I noticed a igfxCUIService1.0.0.0 sourced entry as the first entry after reboot approximately 2 minutes after the end of the delay: The description of the event-ID "0" from the source "igfxCUIService1.0.0.0" could not be found. Event:
started/resumed which sounds ok. But it says that the component that caused this event, is not installed. (my translation from the German log)
The device manager shows that everything is fine and working well.
    Here's my System constellation:
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Intel Ivy Processor i7-3770 with 32 GBytes RAM, Intel 520 Series SSD via SATA 6G, BD Writer from LG via SATA 3G
BIOS F20e with UEFI and Secure Boot enabled (Windows 8.1 did install the GPT partitions):
Fast Boot enabled/disabled doesn't bother,  Intel Virtualization  Technoloy Enabled, VT-d enabled, OS Type Windows 8, Network Stack disabled, Secure Boot Mode standard,  AHCI, USB 3.0 xHCI, Internal Graphics Size now 32M, (didn't bother up
to 512M, 1024M BIOS POST-screen endless loop), Intel Rapid Start Technology Enabled (disabled same effect) => I installed Windows 8.1 with "Intel SATA Preinstall driver For AHCI  RAID Mode" in the F6 mode, as Intel recommended, Marvell ATA Controller
for eSATA (disabling same effect), ErP same effects on dis/enabled.
Windows 8.1 Pro German. Same effect when with or without LAN connected
I am thinking of Reinstalling Windows 8 with CSM mode without UEFI, but I believe that would not have any effect. Maybe I'll try another system disk for a reinstallation (HDD or other older SSD).
It would be nice if this problem could be solved by the community or by Microsoft, since I am not the only one!

  • Install windows 8 64bit on 64bit architecture tablet(acer iconia w4-820) by removing the preloaded 32bit windows 8.1 or dual boot

    Hi,
I need to install windows 8 64bit on a 64bit architecture Tablet(acer iconia w4-820) by removing the preloaded 32bit windows 8.1 or should make it as dual boot. For a project purpose.
I tried booting the tablet from windows 8 64bit DVD for installation but it does't even detect the DVD Drive. when i insert the recovery DVD which came with acer it gets detected.
The windows 8 64bit DVD which am trying to install is volume licensed which we use to install on our laptops. That works fine with Laptops.
Is their any different version of windows 8 do i need to try for installing on Tablet(acer iconia w4-820) or where am i going wrong.
    Thank for your help.

    SM
DISCLAIMER.  I would contact Acer about this to be safe, but if you only have one HD in the tablet you are going to have to do a clean install by formatting the HD.  You cant run 64 bit & 32 bit on the same drive AFAIK.

  • P67A-GD65 (B3 ) & Windows 7 64Bit Boot Issue

    Hi,
I feel the need to revisit this old forum post as I do not believe it has been fully resolved:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=156082.0
In summary the issue is "Most times the machine boots and performs flawlessly for hours, but often it boots with the Windows-7 “need to repair” screen and after running repair for a while Windows says: “Windows cannot repair the problem”…….but when I press the Reset button, the PC boots and runs just fine".
I only had the problem since updating from 1F beta 2 to the latest BIOS version. On the original forum thread there are some that had the view that the issue was introduced around BIOS version 1.F (full release, non-beta) and 1.G. Just to confirm this issue NEVER happened for me on 1F beta 2 or earlier BIOS releases. The original forum also has some people saying the issue did not exist on earlier BIOS versions as well.
Most people seem to have solved the issue by either resetting the CMOS or loading default BIOS settings. I tried this and it did initially solve the problem for me.
BUT when I installed new drivers (such as nvidia v301.24) or added new hardware (e.g. Bigfoot PCIe network gaming card) the problem came back.
This implies to me that there is an issue with the BIOS and that resetting the CMOS is a workaround rather than a true fix.
This leaves me with two choices:
    - use an older BIOS, which is ok but limits me from the new functionality in the BIOS (including not being able to use certain hardware that the BIOS updates support)
    - resetting the CMOS after loading new drivers or installing new hardware and then configure my settings (which is very tedious)
Neither option is ideal to me.
The main purpose of raising this issue is to ask whether MSI Support know of this issue and have it on their bug list to fix?
I am concerned it is not being addressed as other forum entries talk about BIOS version 1.K3 being the last version.
My system details are P67-GD65(B3), Windows 7 64bit, 16GB Gskill 2133Mhz memory, 2 SSD, 2HDD, Nvidia 570 GTX, Bigfoot network gaming card.

Thank you _MELK_ for bringing us your experience.
It was already reported that this bug did not appear with older firmware versions.
It is interesting to know that version 1.14 does not have this bug.
This information should help the MSI support team to create a 1.K reliable firmware.
In my opinion, I do not think that Intel RST is the cause of this bug.
    Sure thing momosala..
An update to this issue is as follow...
BIOS 1.14 fixed this issue completely. NO errors since I flashed back to it.   I also reinstalled Intel RST without any issue either.
Note that I wanted 1.19 for another reason as well (fix for USB 3.0 port issues).  I wound up flashing the chipset for the USB ports themselves instead  .    Now the MB works as intended!  :D
WARNING: use the info below with CAUTION (not simple to do, and not provided/supported by MSI afaik)
INFO on USB 3.0 firmware/drivers -- again, use CAUTION and do your research before proceeding!
Note that it took me a few hours to complete the flash since I had to research which version of the chipset I had (hardware ID helped, LOTS of reading on the subject as well to find out HOW to flash my board properly).
You can find the drivers/firmware for the "Renesa USB 3.0 Host controller" by searching google for
    Driver: Renesas/Nec Usb 3.0 Version 3.0.23.0/2.1.39.0 WHQL.
I used the 2.1.39.0 drivers -- you'll find the firmware at the same place and an explanation on how to flash the chipset we have on the P67A-GD65 (which has TWO identical chips to flash).  The new firmware updater doesn't work on those, so you need to download an older firmware to use the older DOS program to flash with the newer .MEM files.

  • Windows slow booting on K7N2

    Hi there
I am having a problem with my system when i try to boot up and while windows XP is loading its takes ages to get in. I have no idea what is wrong, i am running the latest drivers and bios for my board. If anyone know how to resolve this please post something here thanks.
    oRRus

    oRRus,
Have you checked your jumpers on your board as biodude has suggested? Specifically J10 & J11, J10 should be on pins 1&2, J11 should be shorted across the 2 pins. What speed is it showing your running at in the bios and Windows? What type of PSU do you have? What type of memory do you have? These boards are very sensitive on memory choices. See the top of these posts for thread on compatible memory. Does it lock or is it just slow on the initial boot? It could also be a driver issue, did you remove the old drivers when you updated to the new ones? Sometimes Windows gets confused when booting up as to which drivers to use and it will hang.
    Food for thought! :D

  • Windows 7 64bit driver support for GX623

Hi, i have GX623 laptop (CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo P8400; RAM: 4GB ), i am interested why there is no Windows 7 64bit driver support for this model ? I really would like to run some 64bit software on it.
If my laptop hardware support it why MSI don't release drivers so my software can also support it. In some 32bit drivers there are some 64bit drivers but still not all for complete functionality.
On some older posts from 2009 I see responses that windows 7 64bit is very new so that's the reason for no driver support but in 2011 surely that is not the case.
Can we expect 64bit drivers for Windows 7 in near future or support for 64bit software isn't planed for this model?

So is it officially GX623 supported for Windows 64bit install because I still don't see any drivers for Windows 7 64bit or maybe Windows 7 64bit don't need any drivers?
Hello anybody here? Anybody working here?

Just put this computer together and having issues with the MB.... MSI 760GM-p23, AMD FX 6100, 4G memory, 128G SSD.  It takes an extemety long time from the time it posts to the time it loads 2.2TB infinity.  Once it gets past the 2.2TB Infinity, it boots up windows like a champ.  I'm at a loss as to what is taking so long... anyone else having similar issue?  Is it just a matter of correct Bios settings?.  If I disable the 2.2TB infinity, the pc will not find a bootable drive.
    Board: MSI 760GM-p23
    Bios: HF (newest)
    VGA:   NVIDIA GTX 560

Solved:  Basically I installed the SSD wrong.  Correct process is go into Bios, disable 2.2TB Infinity, set SSD to ACHI, then install windows.  System boots up within seconds now

  • Windows 7 Slow Boot

    Hi,
We are facing slow boot issue in Windows 7 PC's in network. Randomly PC's in the network are taking long time approx 30 mins to boot. This is is happening randomly and not in all PC's. Also the PC's are not fixed.
When I am checking the EventViewer - Application and Service Logs -Microsoft - Windows - Diagnostics-Performance - Operational but there is no relevant logs like 100,101 etc.
Why there is no logs when the PC is booting slow.
I have also enabled the "Windows Boot performance Diagnostics" using gpedit.msc but in Diagnostics-DPS logs there is no relevant log which can direct me to the reason of slow boot.
Is there a way we can find the reason for Slow booting using any Eventviewer Log.
