GX630 won't post

Hello.  I have a GX630 that I bought about 6 months ago.  Recently, it locked upon shutdown and I had to hold down the power key to turn it completely off.  After that, the system no longer boots or even posts.  I have a completely black screen.  The HDD light flashes 1,2,3...pause...1,2,3...pause.  It seems a similar issue to the following post:
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=122090.0
I was wondering if there was more detailed information on what causes this?
Thanks.

No you wont hear anything if you have it completly removed except for the one beep(AS long as you have the Case speaker still hooked up)....In order for Us to be able to help you out , you have to give us a complete List of your system specs.....ie Type of CPU, RAM, Operating System, Powersupply and the amp specs of the PSU'S individual Rails..ie +12, +3.3, +5.0.....This way we wont have to guess what you have, or dont have in your PC ...Sean REILLY875.........PS.. Did you try to Reset the C-MOS with the J-BAT1 Jumper?

  • 790FX-GD70 Won't Post

I bought the 790FX-GD70 in January and I'm just now finishing the build (don't ask).
I waited to buy the CPU until last, so I got the X6 1090T. The current BIOS is 7577 1.0 and I have every intention of updating it to 1.C as soon as I can get to the BIOS, but no luck there. I have it bare bones right now and out of the case. Parts list:
790FX-GD70 BIOS ver 1.0 (I know, I need to update ASAP)
    Phenom II X6 1090T
    Corsair H50 CPU Cooler
Corsair Dominator 2GB DDR3 1033MHz (in first slot closest to CPU. The box says AMD Phenom II right on it. Grrr...)
    Corsair 850HX Power Supply
It's right here in front of me out of the case, lying on my desk.
The problem is, it won't post. This is what I get:
FF,d1,d2,d3,d5,d6,08, then it resets, FF,d1,d2,d3,d5,d6,08, reset, etc. etc.
All the CPU phase LEDs light, memory LEDs light, and the hard drive LED lights right before the board resets.
Any help would be awesome. I'm lost. Thanks.

    what vga you have?
have you tried to boot with barabone setup and mainboard out of the pc case?
    tried >>Clear CMOS Guide<< too?
power cable for the cpu is connected?
have you tried to reseat the cpu too and check for bent pins?

  • MacBook Pro won't POST after 10.6.8

    Hello All,
After installing 10.6.8 last night on my 4.1 MacBook Pro, it won't POST.  The sleep indicator light comes on briefly and I can hear the optical drive spin a bit, and then it just shuts down.  No display, nothing.
Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
I took a quick video of what it does.  Here is the YouTube link to the video:

  • Computer won't POST on cold starts

When I turn on the computer after not having used it for over an hour or so, it won't post. Everything turns on, except the monitor. The only way I can turn off my system after it posts, and the monitor is still off, is by turning off the power supply. I found a way of turning it on when doing a cold start, but its really annoying to do. I do this by turning off the PSU, and unplug the monitor from my vid card, and then plug it back in. After doing this, system will turn on no problem. How do I solve this? I know monitor and vid card work good, since they work perfect in my other system.
Oh one more thing, after having a successful start, and having loaded Windows, my CD-RW is looping, the light stays on, until I open/close it, then it stops. Any suggestions?
    Oh and I use K8N Neo-FSR.
Edit: PSU is an Antec TruePower 380. 18 amps on the +12v line.

    Hi,
I've had lot's of trouble with my system. It didn't POST either. The problem you describe is not the same, but I see you are using the same video card as I do.
My problem was 'resolved' by upgrading the bios version 1.52
I've seen quite a lot of messages indicating that it could be the power supply, being too weak etc... Personally, I do not think it is. In my view it has something to do with timing, and bios 1.52 resolved it for me.
Good luck with it; this issue is a time consumer ...

2 weeks ago PC would do nothing at all after I turned off and then tried to restart.  Thought I had bad power supply, but it checked out. Cleared cmos  by removing battery and turned off oc genie and that seemed to cure problem.
Left PC on ever since.  Had to turn off yesterday to check unrelated network issue and when I tried to restart It won't post.   Just get 3 beeps.  No video.  Nothing.  Tried to clear cmos, switch memory sticks, only use one mem stick in slot 1 and I get nothing but 3 beeps.  Very unlikely that both sticks are bad.  Tried powering on from internal switch and got nothing but 3 beeps.  Beeps are less than 1 second in duration so I guess they are short beeps.
    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
If I have to RMA to MSI how long does it take to get replacement?  What do I have to send to MSI, all contents of retail box or just the board?

I am ready to toss this board and buy another unless I can get this working.
At the moment there is know certainty about the definate cause for your problem.  What makes you so sure that the board is the cause (and not your CPU (which hosts the memory controller, after all), faulty RAM sticks (have you tested every single stick of RAM you have in the first slot (check user manual) and cleared CMOS (with A/C power cable unplugged from PSU before each new start-up attempt)?).
A contact problem between CPU Pads and board socket pins could also cause this (please reseat CPU and heatsink).  Another possible cause is a short-circuit problem inside the case (test the board outside the case on a non-conducting surface).

  • IPhoto 7.1 won't post new web gallery

Since I upgraded to iPhoto 7.1, it won't post toany new web galleries. Here's exactly what happens:
After I create the new web gallery in iPhoto it shows the spinning icon next to it as if its succesfully uploading it but it stops in seconds and nothing happens. If I try to click the refresh button next to the gallery it disappears from the list. Help?
I find this to be unacceptable as I payed good money for both .mac and iPhoto.

Wow! I hope Apple is reading this. Just tried to post a new album to my web gallery, which worked perfectly yesterday before the upgrade that I installed this morning, and now the web gallery button no longer works. It seemed to work until I looked at my previously posted gallery. On the web it showed a greater number of photos installed but only the photos from my earlier gallery were there. When I looked back at iPhoto, the web gallery icon at the bottom had disappeared. So I closed and opened iPhoto again, the gallery icon re-appeared. Tried to upload my album again. Stalled. The icon disappeared. BUGGY!!!! How do I remove the upgrade?

  • GeForceFX 5900XT-VTD won't POST

I am having problems with my new MSI 5900XT. When I install it in my system, it won't post and normally won't display anything (although the monitor is getting a signal). If it displays anything it is a corrupted bios screen. I have tried reseating it with no luck. I have tried disconnecting a bunch of stuff to see if I could give it more power, to no avail. I tried it in my older, less powerful system with pretty weak PSU (300W, +3:15,+5:25,+12:12, approx), and it posted, although it couldn't boot windows, it did everything but. What my concern is, is that on my main system, my +12 rail is hovering between 11.61 and 11.73 with only my geforce 2 in.
    Any help is appreciated.
PS, and my PSU does have a 4 pin power connector to the MOBO

Before RMAing it (which would be the next step really) if you have any other PCs at your disposal then try the card in there (pref a computer with a decent PSU)
If you get the same problem its the card, if its fine then its a mobo/power issue on your other PC.

  • (SOLVED) K8N SLI Platinum won't post with Saphire 5750

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a nice Xmas.
This is my first post on the forums.  I’m  from Portugal ,so I might write things that won’t make much sense to you but I´ll try to keep it simple.
I bought a Sapphire 5750 vapor-X for my kid's PC and I’m afraid I’m yet another one with the “black screen, no post” syndrome. I have tried the card on another system and it works fine.
    What I did:
    Remove old card (6800GT)
    Put new card in
    Reset  CMOS
Switch PC on… no image on screen.
The fan on the graphics card starts spinning, the blue lights are ON, but no dice. My HDD LED stays on, my CD+DVD drives LEDs keep flashing  but system  won’t  post, not  even show MSI logo.
If I remove new card and get my old one back in the PC, it will post first time.
I have spent Xmas reading forums and haven’t found anything but a lot of ppl with the same problem and no real solution for it.
Hope you guys can help .

Warning about the HD5770 well at least on my computer the XFX HD5770 + a PCIe 1.0 slot = doesn't work. Again this was on my computer. I have another computer that it ran on fine using a PCIe 2.0 slot (Asrock 780g board), but my MSI K9A Platinum would not power that card. So you may need to replace your motherboard if it uses a PCIe 1.0 slot.

  • MSI P67A-C43 B3 won't POST with Full RAM Installed

    Hello all,
I recently purchased the MSI P67A-C43 B3 mainboard as a custom build
and have been having trouble with it.  I have 16GB of ram for this board
(4x 4GB) and when I have 8GB installed (slots 1 and 3 filled), it POSTS fine.
When I fill ALL the slots for 16GB total, the board won't POST and just
power cycles ON and OFF and ON and OFF, etc...
I have replaced the memory and the PSU and am about to replace the
mainboard, but wanted to ask if anyone might have a suggestion for
    troubleshooting before I do that.
Here's what I'm running on the system:
    mainboard:  MSI P67A-C43 B3
proc: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4Ghz Unlocked
proc cooler: Corsair Hydro H80 CPU Liquid Cooler
ram: Corsair High Perform Vengeance 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz2x4  (4 of these)
HDD: OCZ TECHNOLOGY 120GB VERTEX PLUS SSD and Seagate 1TB LP Serial ATA HD 5900/32MB/SATA-3G
CD Drive: Sony Optiarc 24X DVDRW SATA
video: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB 1024MB GDDR5 PCB PCIe
PSU: Thermaltake 750W Modular Power Supply. 80+ Bronze
case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I Full Tower Gaming Case
OS:  Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64Bit DVD
Any ideas here would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

OK, had some time to go test your suggestions here
These are the 1.5V Vengeance RAM Modules.  Tried installing 2 of the RAM on slots 2 and 4 on their own.  System Boots Fine.
Went into the BIOS and changed the voltage applied to the RAM modules from
AUTO to 1.575V.   On AUTO it says is applying 1.5V to the 2x 4GB modules.
Installed the full 4x RAM on all slots... and the system just shuts down.  Power cycling again.
What do you think here?  Bad Motherboard?  Can't think of anything else to try...  totally stumped!
    Thanks!

Okay so I got the parts yesterday and I put it together and when I turn it on it won't post. Not only that but everything seem to be powered up except for the video card the fan isn't spinning.
