H.264 export, randomly missing audio tracks

Came across a strange issue when exporting a 1080p timeline using the H.264 export option.  The first export had some strange video flickering issue, but the audio was fine.  So I re-exported and switched to CBR instead of 2 pass VBR.  On the 2nd export, the footage looked fine but for some reason tracks 3 and 4 which contained background audio, were not in the exported file, just silence.  The thing that concerns me is the only encoding option I changed was the bitrate, and going from VBR to CBR, everything else stayed the same in the 2 exports.  I have no idea why Premiere would mysteriously drop 2 of my audio tracks.  Has this happened to anyone else?  This problem has happened to me before, both with the flickering and missing audio.  I've tried the usual updating to current version of Premiere, clearing preferences, etc. and still running into this.

I work in Broadcasting and we use Quicktime HD 1080i h264 with no problems. Plus the file sizes are just amazing (Less than 100mg for a 30 seconds)

  • Missing Audio track controls (fader, solo, mute, sends, inserts etc...)

After doing a "save as project" I ended up with 2 big problems. When I pull the song off the CDR and open it up on my computer the controls for some audio tracks are missing. I lose anything having to do with track control such as input, output, fade, solo, pan, inserts, buses, mute, record. The only thing i can see is the group assignment and automation pull down menus. The other problem i have is that i have to manually relink all the audio files. Why can't the session file find the audio files??? They are all in the audio files folder right next to the session file. Arg. i am running logic pro 7 and the computer that the "save project" was completed on is running logic 6 express 6.4.0.

I'll take a stab at it.
Sounds like your parameters are not viewed. In the arrange window menus - there should be a view menu and it allows you select what things to see for each track.
Maybe view parameters or view channel strip only settings may help.
Not sitting in front of Logic at the moment.
May have something to do with goign from L6 to L7,but i'm only guessing on that one.
    hope this helps

  • QT H.264 files with two audio tracks. Quicktime plays 2nd track first. ***?

I've been experimenting with H.264 (AVC) and my DVDs. Using Handbrake, I ripped a DVD to MP4 (H.264) and including the director's commentary as the second track.
When I play the MP4 with Quicktime Player, it plays the director's commentary instead of the main soundtrack. VLC, however, correctly plays the first track (main movie audio track) and it allows me to select the second track via a menu.
To get Quicktime to play the proper track, I have to open "Movie Properties" and manually uncheck the second track. This was never a problem with DivX/XviD encoded files with two audio tracks; Quicktime Player correctly played the first track.
Why does Quicktime ignore the first audio track in MP4s (but not AVIs) and is there a way to correct this?

    I do have QT Pro.
H.264 files are usually saved in a MP4 container. That's what Handbrake, ffpegX, and D-Vision create, anyway.
The "Choose Language" option is greyed out (unavailable) when I open this H.264 MP4 in Quicktime. If I try to change the settings in "Movie Properties," it says that I must save it with the .MOV file suffix.
It makes no sense to me that Quicktime Player can correctly identify the main audio soundtrack in a XviD file with an AVI container but not in a H.264 video with a MP4 container which Apple has been touting as the latest, greatest thing. Even VLC, an open source product still in beta, gets it right.

  • Quicktime Pro Export Issue (No Audio Track)

    Hello,
After I purchased and installed the MPEG-2 component into Quicktime Pro 7, all of a sudden when I export from one video file format (.MP4) into another (.MOV), there is no audio track exported into the .mov created.
I should add that I installed the MPEG-2 component to view a TIVO-to-go recording that I had been able to strip out of the .tivo shell. Once I played the .mpg file though, no audio track played either. Thoughts? Is there a way to uninstall the MPEG-2 component from Quicktime Pro?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    No audio export.
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to export with audio.

  • Premiere Pro CC and missing audio tracks for .mts files

    Hello guys,
I used to edit my .mts files with Premiere Pro CC without any issues until yesterday.
Now I import my .mts file (made with a Sony VG900) but Premiere doesn't recognize the audio tracks (that I can hear just fine with VLC).
I tried changing the extension in .m2ts but it didn't work, I also tried reinstalling Premiere but, again, it didn't work and I tried (I was desperate) to install Premiere CS6 just to check if maybe the problem was just about the CC version. Guess what? It didn't work...
I tried also converting the file with Encoder in .mp4 but after the conversion I can't hear the audio with VLC and, of course, it doesn't work on Premiere.
Do you think it's a Premiere issue or a file problem?
I used those same files for other videos (like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1X5vsZ-5yI) and I had no problems. Then I updated Premiere, I moved the files in other folder and the problem came to life.
    Any idea?
(I'm waiting for my colleague to send me a new mts file just to check if I accidentally damanged the old ones).

    A similar problem here..... although......
Take a look at this screenshot
As you will see, the blue marked audio is repeated audio of less than on sec. Certainly not the way it has been recorded.
I think I've got the answer........ (working with Premiere Pro CC, always up to date, Mac OX 10.9.2; Camera: Sony HXR NX3)
    1. Don't copy but clone your flash card to the location where to edit on your hard drive. At the same time: alt+click on external flash card, draw it onto your hard drive location.
(or use carbon copy cloner, which I use for backup and transferring avchd files).
    2. Don't import regularly via the import dialogue box (cmd-i). Instead: use the mediabrowser browser, locate the map "private" (as often standard named),
    3. Via cmd-a (select all): select all videofiles.
    4. click right mouse button and select import.
This way, all the video and audio files will be imported.
If however you have alreade re-used your camera flash card for recordings and don't have access to the 'corrupted' files to be imported into your project, you won't be able to solve the problem. You just lost some of the essential data which were not copied onto your Mac.
This solution I found for my problem may well be the one you are looking for........
Another solution might be to convert the compressed avchd - before importing into your project - into uncompressed .mov filed. However...... you will lose data so this is not exactly what I would prefer if the former described workflow does fix the problem for you.
Please let me know if this works for you or not.
    Good luck!
    Regards,
    Peter

  • Export 2 stereo audio tracks?

I need to output a PAL HDV project from FCP as a PAL DV file with 4 audio tracks - specifically one stereo pair to be t1&t3, the other stereo pair to be t2&t4. This is the standard way requested by an international distributor of tv programmes. I understand how to set the sequence in FCP to output 4 audio tracks - either 2 stereo pairs (1&2, + 3&4), or 4 discrete tracks. But how do I then output this as a QT file? Compressor has an abundance of QT audio settings, but the choice is confusing. Would any of the 4.0 settings suffice? Or am I likely to get myself into difficulties further down the line?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Tell the distributor that they must be stupid and drunk. I have never heard of anyone using 1-3/2-4 as stereo pairs. It's just plain stupid, and they should fire the technician that came up with such a stupid scheeme.

  • MPEG-4  ( H.264 ) Movies play ALL audio tracks simultaneously

In i-Tunes , when I try to play MPEG4's with multiple audio tracks (such as 1-english 2-director comment)both audio tracks play at the same time.
The files are MPEG-4's created by Nero Recode (AVC – HDTV profile).
There is no issue with any similar files with one audio track.
There is no issue playing these in VLC , WMP Mplayer, etc.
Is there an option to enable i-Tunes to allow me to select only one track?

  • Missing Audio Track on playback after "Share" or "Render"

OK, I am tearing my hair out on this one:
    Premiere Elements 4
I have captured a bunch of clips (with their own associated audio) from my DV Camera
    I have added music.
    Few title screens and transitions.
Once I hit the "share" thing, or the render thing, when I play back the resulting file on my PC I only get the music audio!
The audio associated with the clips is not there.
I have tried doing different sorts of share formats (i.e. to AVI, to MPEG, to WMV, etc) and it is still the same
In the Timeline both tracks are NOT muted.
The Clip audio is not too low (i've read the trouble shooting guide).
I tried sharing just a captured clip (i.e. didn't add in any music), and the native audio came through on that one, so the problem is probably not with how I imported the clip or anything. Basically it just seems like when I  have 2 audio tracks, one a music track and the other the audio from the video recording, only the music clips are added into the final file, but the audio from the clips themselves is omitted somehow!
    Help!

When you say you're capturing DV, can you confirm that you're capturing over FireWire from a miniDV camcorder and that you're using Premiere Elements to do the capture?
Also, does your camcorder have a dubbing feature for adding narration to already recorded video?
There are other possibilities (such as the possibility that you have your camcorder audio set to something other than 12-bit 48K sampling), but we need to know what we're dealing with first.

  • Missing audio track when importing video into Premiere Pro CS3

When I import my M2TS video into the editor there is no audio when viewed in the source.  There is also no audio track when I drag a clip down to the timeline.  Any fix for this?

I have the same problem with M2TS files in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. The audio track is there - Adobe Premiere just doesn't recognize it. If you open the same clip in Nero Showtime, Corel Ulead VideoStudio, etc., the audio will be there. The audio is probably multiplexed.
I have been recording High Definition TV using the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212. About 15-20 % of the M2TS files recorded will be seen as video only clips by Adobe Premiere. The remaining clips will be conformed by Premiere and you will have a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. If you convert the video only clips to .MP4 and then re-import them into Premiere you will then have the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track back and you're good to go.
I use either Xilisoft or Arcsoft media converters to change to .MP4 files. If you use Arcsoft you will have to render the clip. The files converted by Xilisoft don't have to be rendered for playback.

  • How to export 8 mono audio track Quick Times for broadcast stations?

Hi, I work for a post house for Broadcast commercials. We are moving to a tapeless format for mastering and file delivery to stations and Extreme Reach.  Is it possible to use premiere to export a single file with 8 mono tracks to support a 5.1 mix (Channels 1-6) and a stereo mix (7-8). We need the file to contain all 8 tracks of audio as mono single tracks.

  • Missing audio tracks.

Can anybody help? I have made a movie where I have tuned the volume down on almost all of the clips and just set it to background music. However there are three clips where I want the audio to be heard so you can hear the persons commentary. When I play it in the editing window and in preview it works, but whenever I burn a dvd it leaves the audio off????? It worked ages ago when I made the movie using PE3, but I'm now running PE8 and re-jigging my old movies.

it's only when I burn it to dvd & play it on the telly that the Audio 1 tracks are lost.
OK, Audio is good in PrE, but not on the burned DVD via a set-top player.
First, what brand of blank media did you burn to? Verbatim & Taiyo Yuden are the brands that I recommend. Many, like Memorex and Ritek buy from the cheapest source, and then rebrand the blanks. In a spindle of 100, there might be discs from 4 different mfgr's. One can get some good blanks, and then the rest in that spindle will not play.
Second, can you test play on your computer with a DVD software player? How does it play there?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • [Help !]Exporting more than 2 audio tracks impossible ?

    Hi all,
I am trying to export a sequence with 6 audio tracks using *Menu->File->Export->Using Quicktime conversion...* and it seems to be impossible to export to more than 2 audio tracks !
If I use the option Export->Quicktime movie I can export my 6 audio tracks but I don't want to export to .mov file...
Can anyone confirm or has a solution ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom Douce

Nope, Red is correct on this Tom, unless I'm misunderstanding your question. Regardless of your audio hardware, to export more than 2 channels of audio you must define those extra channels by creating additional "audio outputs" for your sequence ... basically the number of audio channels in your export is equal to the number of audio outputs in your sequence settings; additionally you must map the audio tracks in your sequence to those audio outputs ... you do that by right clicking on or around the audio track lock icon / auto select icon for each channel and using the context menu to assign the track to a given output (you can also do this in the Audio Mixer toolbench window). This is the workflow regardless of whether you are exporting to a file or exporting to tape or otherwise.
For what its worth tho, in my own quick hardly conclusive tests earlier on, exporting a correctly configured multichannel sequence "Using Quicktime Conversion" always resulted in a stereo downmix being passed to the chosen export component, so I still think you're likely to end up needing to use the private export component API to get around this.
Hope I'm wrong tho, as it would surely make life a lot easier for you
    Best
    Andy

  • Export audio track for third-party mixing

I want to export my FCE audio track so I can mix it using Cubase. All I can see to do is to export it as a Quicktime movie, but I think I need to retain the format as AIFF, or perhaps MPEG-4. What can I do?

Use QuickTime Conversion. Change to format popup to Sound to AIFF.
