H.264 problems...

When I click file - share - select quicktime icon - select expert settings - followed by now saving where ever and making the "export" as "movie to quicktime movie" and "use" as "broadband - high"
These settings make a not to compressed H.264 movie. And sometimes the movies work whereas other times I simply get a movie that plays and about half-way through the video freezes and now only audio plays. Has anyone else had this problem? Any fix for it?
Thank you,
TM

Do you have one of these movies (short) I can download and look at?

  • Adobe Media Encoder: Quicktime H.264 Problem

I'm trying to output my video using QT H.264, and whenever it processes through the media encoder, it gets stuck with the status "encoding", with the elapsed queue time frozen at about :13 seconds.
I've tried using different settings, but I get the same issue every time.
When I encode using a different QT codec (DV/DVCPRO- NTSC, etc.), it works no problem.
My machine is dual-quad with 16GB of memory, so I'm pretty sure it's not my system. The video is only a couple minutes long, so there's not a whole lot of video to process.
Does anyone know a work around to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Anders

    Anders,
I have to make sure we are talking about the same thing. In the Effects Control Panel, you twirled open the Opacity intrinsic effect and clicked on the stopwatch to create a keyframe, correct?
I ask this because you can also adjust the Opacity by using the clip's opacity "rubber band" in the timeline, but no keyframes get added there unless you use the Pen tool or a modifier key in combination with the selection tool.
For the workaround to fix the issue, a keyframe has to be created.

    PS - You're welcome. :)

  • Elgato Turbo.264 problem

After installing Elgato Turbo.264 on an Intel iMac 27" a problem with HTML5 video playback in Safari appeared.
When playing videos on Vimeo.com in the HTML5 mode the error message "Ooops something broke..." shows up. I have to switch to the Flash player.
It seems there might be an incompatibility problem with QuickTime or Safari but Elgato support does not have a clue.  Did anyone else notice this issue? Or does anyone know what to do about it? Please let me know. Thanks!

Encountered same problem. I submitted a support ticket to Elgato, but no reply yet. I suggest you do the same thing so they work on it ASAP. http://support.elgato.com/index.php

  • HANDBRAKE H.264 PROBLEM SOLVED!! DOWNLOAD HERE!!!

This is a version of Handbrake that enables the "Baseline" profile instead of the "Main" profile. That was the whole problem with the videos not being able to transfer to the iPod when using the H.264 codec. Now, I tried it & it works great!
    Here you go: http://s8.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0RVTS3ESHZ1Z535XQLI2Z25GHD
P.S. Thanks to Azdude for getting get me file.

yes, I looked at the source for ffmpeg, couldn't see anything that really stood out. But without documentation its not a fun program to debug.
Makes me glad I have both macs and pcs.
Really I mostly use my powerbook for everything, even when I need to do something in visual studio, I just connect to the desktop pc in my spare room via wi-fi using microsoft remote client for macs.
For java development I perfer the mac, and I'm really starting to like xcode.
Not sure how much time I want to spend on trying to make h264 work on windows, its just that the h.264 encoding I did with 42dvdvxplus on the mac look better than the mp4 with nerorecode on windows, But the xp machines are faster.

  • HD H.264 problem

I wait over 24 hours to encode an HD timeline to H.264/.ac3 (HD-DVD 60 min setting) and the resulting files do not synch up. The audio is way off. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Not surprising. H.264 is not an editing codec and FCP doesn't like it. Another NLE perhaps, but FCP will give unpredictable results.
The recommended workflow is convert clips to Pr Res, import to FCP, edit in a Pro Res sequence, export with current settings. Them, if you need h.264, do your encode in Compressor.

    Hi,
the mapping creating the receiver list is not producing the required element "Receivers" from Namespace "'http://sap.com/xi/XI/System". Look to the operation mapping given in the enhance Receiver Determination (IB Directory)  and detect the corresponding mapping program (ESR).  Copy the source payload from MONI, test the mapping program and correct it.

  • What video codecs can be used with Premiere CS4?

What video codecs can be used with Premiere CS4?  Or are there to many to list?  I'm looking for a solution to import a .AVI file created with a H.264 codec.

PrPro can work with so very many, but certainly not all. Some, like DivX will work for Export, but I have never gotten good Import of that material - always something wrong somewhere.
For H.264, there are three very popular versions: Apple, Lead and MainConcept. The Apple version installs with later versions of QT Player, the other two are available, and many users like them better. They solve some H.264 problems, mainly with Export.
For a bit of background, you might find this ARTICLE useful.

  • PP CS4 Problem with exported H.264 .mp4 video. Can't AME do proper encoding?

Trying to export a Video of ~60mins using the H.264 Codec .mp4 which converts in AME successfully, allthough when playing back the f
ile, it has problems after ~40mins. When i try to jump to a later point in the timeline to playback i.e. 48th minute or 50:10 or wha
tever, the image freezes, audio continues and it takes 10-20 secs untill the video image continues.
I tried different playback programms like VLC,Windows media etc. and different compressions 2-5Mbps as CBR and VBR1 / 2, nothing cha
    nged.
Source is Sony DV and i have some still images as .png. Since the first 30mins work alright, i thought i try out if something with t
he source material in the timeline is causing the problem , so i cut after the 30st minute and copied the first 30mins behind that
to get a 60mins video, but exaclty the same playback issue after ~40th minute.
Is this an most likely a problem caused by AME using H.264 .mp4 Codec?
Other videos i did months before in the same way using the same source material worked fine. Adobe Premiere and AME is up to date!
    Thank you

hmn sounds like it makes sense. I have seen that "i-Frame in GOP" somewhere in PP i think.
Allthough i recall that i had videos i exported which played fine till the end with no delay at a later seek distance.
I noticed that quicktime player has the same issue but is much quicker than VLC.
Is there a work arround or alternative? Can it be improved?
    I need H.264 & .mp4 for webpodcast on vimeo.com
The only thing which looks strange to me ist that the lenght of the delay showing the images (i guess finding it) takes almost the same time
as on other later point like at the very end. Id assume that if its normal behavior the delay should become bigger and bigger with a later point in time ?
Appreciate your time to answer jim,Thanks

indicates there is a missing library on your system. What problems were you having before that caused you to delete Safari? How did you delete it?
You're best bet in this case is to re-install the OS. While doing a re-install will not normally harm your user data having a good working backup in cases like this is essential.

  • Crawl Problems in H.264

    Greetings.
I just exported a 5-minute sequence from HDV 1080i to H.264 (not with Compressor). The .mov file when played back has problems. The images sometime move clumsily across the screen. The crawl portions, which contain English text in Helvetica font size 23, move at times erratically from right to left. The scrolling credits at the end also appear to jump or flicker at times.
Are there pre-sets for crawl or scroll text: special fonts, speed, use of Motion or output modes?
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Tom

Are you streaming it from a external HDD?

  • Premiere CC to AME - H.264 nightmare rendering problems with CUDA on rMBP

I've been struggling for weeks trying to troubleshoot and narrow down my encoding nightmare on my own and I have finally succumbed to getting the forum's or Adobe's Help.
    Problem:
Rendering a Premiere Pro CC project with via Export Media > Queue to AME in H.264 causes the encode to randomly fail on multiple projects.
I find it quite amazing that this error happens as I surely am not the only one rendering ProRes to H.264 on a new Macbook Pro!
    Symptom:
Output preview starts to flicker then encoding stops randomly, preview window turns to a black screen or simply stalls while the Elapsed Time keeps rolling, PProheadless crashes in Console, encoding sometimes resumes after several minutes post the crash (but sometimes not) however the final output in such case is garbled before/after the crash. Computer is useable. All other software shutdown. Not using computer during encode. Can reproduce virtually every time.
    Hardware:
    Early 2013 Retina Macbook Pro
Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

    Attempts to solve the issue:
    Tried encoding without external montior
Tried encoding with source on internal HDD, output internal HDD, source exterbak RAID, output internal HDD
Tried encoding with AME while Premiere is open in the background and without it opened in the background
Uninstalled other software that could mess with the graphics: Colormunki, Parallels.
Software mode is fine on all attempts in AME however encoding takes 2-3x longer. On a $3000 laptop it's not really great.
Encoding directly via Export Media > Export without Queuing to Adobe Media Encoder seems to work fine. I have not tried this too many times because I need to render multiple outputs and doing it without AME means a lot of 'sitting and waiting' to click Export for the next format. This is not an option.
    Tried deleting the Media Cache
Completely reinstalled OS X 10.8.4 from scratch with no other software running and tried to export. Same problem.
Performed Apple hardward test. No problems.
    To Test:
I'm planning on installing Bootcamp so I can test the problem in the Windows version and I could pinpoint it to a hardware problem rather than a software problem.
    Notes:
Problem happens with CUDA and Open CL modes although in Open CL mode, the whole computer tends to freeze intead of just 'stalling'.
Editing and playback inside Premiere is OK! Even encoding out of Premiere is OK directly but not useful for me as I need to render each project to 5 different H.264 formats.
I hope you guys or Adobe's Support can find a solution to this problem because I'm really stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I've submitted a bug report but their reply is not very comforting:
but their bug report says "Due to the volume of submissions we receive, responses to inquiries are generally not possible. However, we may contact you if we need clarification on your submission." Nice.

Yes I considered your "solution" of just upgrading to Adobe CC but on principal I don't want to have to shell out more money to "fix" the problem. I was able to get an Adobe technician to view my screen in real time. He asked me where Prem Pro was after I opened it and my response was "precisely". The only evidence that Prem Pro is open is that there is the taskbar there with what appears to be fully functional drop down tabs but as far as the panels/workspace goes non-existent! He has "escalated" the matter I'll let you know what occurs next. I have tried using the software mode and there is no change. Like you I have wondered about a hardware proplem but I have checked via Disk Utility and there doesn't appear to be any? The CUDA issue well a) I am not sure how I would revert to previous drivers and b) when I re-installed Prem Pro from disc (that's version 6.0.0.) the only render option it gave me was Software only but that was also greyed out. Prem Pro still did not open up as it should!
I'll let you know what transpires.

  • Media Encoder CS4 problem with h.264 QuickTime- Green flashes

I have been using Premiere/Media Encoder CS4 on both a Mac and PC. I am having problems encoding using h.264 HD (720p) settings. These are the problems I have had:
When I encode on both platforms (using many different settings) the video plays back fine on the latest version of QuickTime on the Mac.
On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
When I downgrade my version of QT on my PC to 7.4.5 the video plays fine.
With the downgraded version of QT and then encode the video again using the same settings. The video has the same mentioned problem on ANY PC with the latest version of QT.
I would like to say that this is just a QT problem but when I encode the videos using someone elses computer with other software (Sorenson Squeeze) using the exact same settings the video works fine on all platforms.
I need to distribute these videos online so I have no control over what version of QT people will be using to view the video so it is not enough just to say use the older version of QT.
    Thanks in advance for help.

There have been several instances, such as you describe, on the forum lately. Do not recall any exact resolutions though. I'd seach for "green flashes," as that exact phrase has been used in many.
On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
Is this with QT 7.6.2? Many had major issues with the QT 7.4.x versions and Adobe software. The QT 7.5.5 version seemed to fix most of those, but another user was having issues with it very recently, and there have been some, who have also had issues.
It seems that QT will work with Adobe products for a bit, and then the next upgrade, or two, will fritz up the whole works.
Wish this was not such a "moving target."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Problem with H.264 playback

I just converted some home-made movie using H.264 codec in Handbrake. The output file has a dimension of 640 x 352. Interestingly, it would play in iTunes, but will not sync with iPod video.
I thought iPod supported H.264 codec with resolution to up 640 x 480, am I wrong?
Please, help me understand what the problem is!
    Thanks for your support!

Hi, i've been discussing the problems with the recent driver update here in another thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12854782#12854782
10.6.5 did come with new kexts (the dates just didn't change because they are using the same directories, but the version numbers for the kexts are all new).
Unfortunately there are no fixes yet - we are hoping that 10.6.6 update will bring new stable drivers, otherwise the fix will be to revert back to 10.6.4

  • Sync problems using H.264 video in FCE timeline...please help!!!!

Okay. I'm reposting this question to see if anyone can help.
I'm shooting on a Panasonic HDC-HS700 and it's working fine. I use Aunsoft MTS Converter to convert to H.264 so that I can edit my footage in Final Cut Express. When I play back in the composer window, everything looks fine. BUT when I start putting clips in the timeline, the audio and video all out of sync and wacky. I will cut a clip in the composer but when I play it in the timeline the heads and tails are cut a few frames differently and the audio and video is out of sync. So basically, it's all fine in the composer but all messed up in the timeline.
What can I do to fix this? Should I try converting to a different format? Is this something that would not be a problem in Final Cut Pro??? Please give me any suggestions! I can also provide more information if that would help.

    Hi -
What is the source footage from the camera?
If it is HD, then it needs to be converted to Apple Intermediate Codec at 29.97 FPS. The audio needs to be converted to 48Khz AIFF.
An excellent free convertor is MPEG Streamclip, which is available at
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
H.264 is a acquisition and delivery codec, it is not suitable for editing in any past or current iteration of FCE or FCP. Attempting to edit in H.264 results in the problems you are currently experiencing - and many, many more.
