H.264 support for Quad?

When will qt's h.264 encoder support all four cores?

Apparently not with qt7.1...
Next try in 2007 with 7.2 or Leopard.
Which comes first?

  • IPhone support for H.264 with B-Frame

    Hi All,
In the iPhone documentation, it is mentioned that iphone supports:
    - H.264 Baseline Profile Level 3.0 video, up to 640 x 480 at 30 fps. Note that B frames are not supported in the Baseline profile.
Are there plans to support B-frames in the near future ? Do you think iPhone 3G will have B frames supported ?
    Thank you very much,
    kusno mudiarto

As noted in the above article, support for H.264 in the native HTML5 player on Windows 7 launched 7 weeks ago in Firefox 21.
The forum software detected your Firefox as version 18. Is that correct?
Version 18 is not secure; Mozilla discloses [https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html security flaws] after each new release. Is something holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 22? Please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds.

Sorry if I missed this in my search.
Does Windows Vista Home Basic support dual quad core processors?
    Windows Help & Support:
Under System, you can view the processor type and speed, as well as the number of processors installed, if your computer uses multiple processors.
Yet I see no mention of multiple processors there -- what am I missing?

    Hi -g,
all Windows Home versions (XP and Vista) only support one physical prcossor with multiple Cores.
Windows Professional versions (XP Professional and Vista Business+Ultimate) support two physical processor with multiple Cores each.

  • Colors Lack of Support for Nvidia!

I switched to Mac for the sole purpose of using "Final Touch"..shortly after it was purchased and is now Color. I bought the new studio package and loaded it all on my Workstation. Low and behold...no support for Firewire out!!...so I will have to buy an AJA earlier then planned...and I can only get 8 bit color renderning depth in settings regardless of footage quality, bit depth, resolution, or codec. My system is a Dual Quad Core 3GHZ so 8 CPUS "Octo Mac" with 9GB of RAM and 2 TB RAID storage with a Nvidia Quadro 4500! It's rather frustrating that the highest end system apple can make is crippled in Color and I have to get a lesser system (ATI card) to make it run optimally. Any answers? I purchased the Quadro because I work in Maya...but now I think I will have to save the $1400 difference and get the ATI card so I can work in a higher bit depth , and afford to purchase a High end AJA card for output. Any ideas or answers?

    Hello,
i posted another thread about the limitation of 8bit color depth and no realtime playback and found out that it was the same problem. We had a nvidia card installed. I just installed the app on a 8core intel with ati x1900 and it works impressivley well. Perfect playback and performance. We are putting primary, 3 secondaries with super soft gradients and a pan and scan plus output correction and the systems delivers still 22fps in 2k dpx sequences. Quite amazing. But yes, nvidia gave us 8fps with an uncorrected image.
Get the x1900 it will make you happy.

  • Still no support for Leaf Aptus digital backs in 10.4.7

This product just cracks me up. No reasonable video card upgrade path for us early Quad owners (a total ripoff) and no support for high end digital backs. This is turning into a really bad joke. Apple is totally clueless about supporting professional photographers other than wedding and sports shooter. Lame. This is clearly geared more to the prosumer market rather than real working pros with multiple cameras for different requirements. This whole experience has left a really bad taste in my mouth after supporting and using Apple computers since the Apple IIe.
Joe if you're reading this is there any chance that Aperture will EVER support the Leaf backs? If not I'm going to stop wasting my valuable time on this product.

lawrence I'm sure you'll be excited though that though there is no support for high end digital backs, or Fuji S3 - that there is however support for the C7070 and other compacts. Thank goodness, we can now work.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 native support for Canon 5D/7D

So now that the newest version of Premiere Pro will offer native support for HDSLR like the Canon 5D and 7D, does this mean that editing will be much faster??  Meaning, is there no reason now to export to an intermediate codec like Cineform for faster editing because CS5 will be able to edit the h.264 files without lag?  I was just curious as this will make up my decision of upgrading from CS4 to CS5.

Through history, Adobe has promised a lot of things that have:
    - Caused many to experience that it's not so, and therefor a lot of screaming/complaints. Most of which (screaming/complaints) has been because people are doing something that is not correct, or installed stuff that screws things up, and so on.
    - Caused many people to get great benefits from the new features, and they (many people) have computers that they keep clean and follow needed specifications.
    - Sometimes things just don't work, or stop to work (Clip Notes in CS3).
The funny thing is that I have CS3 and edit the video footage from my 7D natively without any problems whatsoever. OK, maybe not quite realtime playback without rendering the timeline, but pretty close. My PC is quite ordinary, Q6600 CPU, 4GB RAM, and 8800GT w/1GB RAM, no over-clocking or special treatments done.
The little extra funny thing is that if I apply MB Looks to my 7D footage, it gets to be more or less realtime playback, probably because Looks forces the GPU to be used.
    Bottom line:
Whatever Adobe promises, you'll have to make sure you have the clean gear for it if you want it to work. Except for that, some just are lucky.

    actually what is  edge technology?

    ajithlal,
    5130 XpressMusic supports these formats:
    Audio:  AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, eAAC, eAAC+, MIDI Tones (poly 64), Mobile XMF, MP3, MP4, SP-MIDI, True tones, WMA
    Video:  3GPP formats (H.263), H.264/AVC, MPEG-4

  • G4 support for Airport Card alternative?

    Hi all,
It never dawned on me that there is an alternative to Apple's Airport cards for our systems until recently. I have a G4 dual 1GHz system which houses a hookup for the original airport card; the system also has PCI slots. I have an Airport Extreme Base station and would like to restrict my frequency range to the 5 GHz ONLY (to avoid the crowding of 2.4 GHz range.) So, is it correct to say that my G4 is not tied down to the original airport card but can theoretically use "n" capable WIFI cards via on board PCI or USB? And if so, any you would recommend? Also, how's the software support for it, i.e., drivers, Airport Utility, etc. since the card would be third party and not Apples? Would I get the support from say, Airport Utility as if I had an Apple airport card in there or are there going to be compatibility issues? Many thanks!

OK, I just found this out:
    http://www.beowulf.org/archive/2001-July/004174.html
    32 bits/33 Mhz : aggregated ideal peak at 132 MB/s
    64 bits/33 Mhz : aggregated ideal peak at 264 MB/s
And that's shared between all items on the PCI bus.
It would be interesting to measure the bandwidth on the USB 2 PCI card. I've seen it vary wildly on a G4/400 Mhz Yikes, sometimes dropping to as little as USB 1.1 even with only one USB item connected on an IOGear card. I no longer have access to that machine. That's of course assuming nothing else is sharing the same bus.

  • Speedgrade support for .MTS files

    Hello,
I'm excited about CS6. I shoot a Panasonic GH-2 that records H.264 in .MTS. This is hacked and shoots at around 150mb/s.  Does Speedgrade read .MTS? I'd rather not transcode.  Premiere runs fine with the MTS files.
Also, when you send out from Premiere to Speedgrade, will Premiere reflect the look/grading changes? I guess I shoyld ask this in a different topic.
    Thanks
    Max

Adobe has announced las April that they will update their Creative Suite once a year somewhere between April and July (Q2). I think is a save assuption that SpeedGrade will get an upgrade by then. Consider that the programmers had less then half a year to deliver SG CS6... (Iridas was aquired in September 2011, and CS6 was launched in April 2012. And I know the testing and delevery of software takes about 3 months,  you can do the math).
I am expecting a lot form the next version as the programmers had a full year to work on integration, codecs, support for various workflows etc.
So, prime time, if you want to call it that, should probably be somewhere in April at the earliest.

  • Does intel latest  mother boareds support for the Solaries 10 OS

Hello Friends this is Mr.MA.Prakash from India. I want to know intel latest mother boards not supporting solaries 10. i tried installing on some intel mother board numbers.
please suggest, which intel latest mother board support for the solaries 10 operating system.
    thanking u.
    ma.prakash.

I've had a fun time last week setting up an Intel MFSYS25 blade server and MF5000SI quad-core Xeon blades with Solaris 10.
I only had Solaris 10u4 (8/07) on hand, and it only worked in 32-bit mode (boot with kernel/unix explicitly specified, as in Safe mode descriptor).
However adding patches (back from Jan 2008) helped, and the system works fine in 64-bit mode.
I believe it should work with Solaris 10u5 since it includes these patches and newer ones, but haven't checked.

  • Support for Windows 7

Someone told me that HP stopped supporting the desktop PCs with Windows 7 and no longer release BIOS updates that will support newer video cards. Is it really true?
Only 2 years ago I bought a HP Pavilion HPE h8-1227 (Win 7 64 bit) with a Joshua-H61-uATX mobo and now I noticed HP relesased a bios update only for Windows 8.
That's odd... as far as a I know no bios update cares about the OS, since its all 'pre-os' agnostic.
So, it should be ok to run that bios update for a Windows 7 PC as well, right?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Thank you for the additional information.
Here's the thing, if you use a BIOS that is not tested for the OS it is a big risk.  I can't say for certain that it won't work, but I am not going to recommend it.  A failed BIOS flash is not reversible!!  You will have a good doorstop.   Also, don't use the guides for retail motherboards to determine what will work in HP's motherboards.  They have them made to their specs and are not the same as retail boards.  Therefore, even if the guide says the card is compatible with the motherboard, it is not necessarily correct.
The card that you want to use should fit into the case and the hybrid BIOS is good, but I don't believe that your power supply unit (PSU) will have the 2x75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors to run it.  Also, it requires a 500W PSU.  The one in your computer is 460W.  This information is in the System Requirements section of the link that you provided.
Here is a card that may work for you.  It also has a hybrid BIOS and does not require the additional PCI Express 6-pin power connectors.  The only thing that concerns me is the length of the card.  It is 9.84" in length.  You can make a template the size of the card and try it in the space provided to see if there is enough space for the card and enough room for good airflow.  Airflow is extremely important!
If you decide to go with the card in the link, please let me know how it works.  You may want to contact MSI Tech Support for more guidance.  They are very knowlegable and will know if it will work for certain in your computer.

  • Does iPhone 6's AC wifi chip support 4x4 quad stream?

I'm thinking of upgrading my home network from N to the new AC standard. For my needs, I have it narrowed down to Asus, either the famous RT-AC68U or the latest RT-AC87U. The latest model is the first to support 4x4 quad-stream wireless technology. The advantages this brings would only be realized with clients that also support this technology. The only advanced device I plan to buy for the next few years would be the iPhone 6 and if this phone's AC wifi chip won't utilize the 4x4 quad stream, then it would make sense to save $100 and go with the previous Asus RT-AC68U.
Can't seem to find the specs on the phone to confirm. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    1. turn off the phone
    2. take SIM card out
    3. turn on the phone
    4. go into settings> General>network and make sure 3g and cellular data are on
    5. insert SIM card into the phone
    6. let the phone register to the network
    7. wait 3 to 4 minutes and then turn 3g and cellular data off
    8. after you do this, the phone should clear.  you can turn your 3g data and cellular back on now.
if this does not work, it may be an app you recently istalled.

  • WMF Support for iPod anyone?

    Hey,
Am I the only one, who would like to play wmf files with iPod?
IMHO they sound better than mp3 to my ears. I know, I know, this is very personal statement and you are free to disagree, but I'd just prefer wmf over mp3.
I am not an iPod owner yet, but I consider buying one.
Although I am impressed with iPod - the slick design, UI, etc are all unrivaled, the lack of wmf support is THE major drawback, which makes me look at other players. iPod is the only player which does NOT support wmf. I ripped most of my cd collection to wmf, so conversion to mp3 would be a pain.
Does anybody know if Apple might add support for wmf (or other formats, like flac, ape) anytime soon?
Sorry, AAC/AIFF is not an option either.
    PC   Windows XP Pro

if you read the tech specs for the 5g ipod link below
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html
under audio support its as follows "AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF"
THere is no WMA format suported. If you look further on video support (just as a notice) there is no WMA format supported. "H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats"
I am sure but dont know of any WMA file converter. And since you state AAC/AIFF is out of the quesiton well then see on converting the files to MP# sicne thats more universal. Why should apple ipod support for windows media files. when microsoft is so rankerous in being so proprietary on their software as well. I am sure you can find a converter and i recommend googleing for such info. But i highly doubt apple will add support for a proprietary file format that comes from a competing software company. Im not bashing jsut making a real observation. =)

  • Adobe Revel Support For webDVD and Videos

    Could I get clarification on
As of today October 7, 2013....
    a. Videos. I read somewhere that currently only .mov files are supported by Adobe Revel. Is that true? If so, please
define .mov since that is just as wrapper format that can come with a variety of video and audio compressons. Are
we talking H.264.mov or something else? If applicable, what other video formats are supported by Adobe Revel?
    b. webDVD. It is my recollection that photoshop.com supported the upload and viewing of the webDVD. If my
recollection is correct, what is Adobe Revel's support for the Premiere Elements created webDVD?
    Thanks for the information requested.
