H.323 and SCCP in CCME
I try to make a Cisco Call Manager Express to work with H.323 and SCCP in the same time , each of them working good but they didn't work together .
I mean that H.323 phone can to dial H.323 phone ,and SCCP phone can to dial SCCP phone , but H.323 phone can not to dial SCCP phone .
does there is any additinal commands have to be entered in router to make them work together .
and ,please give me the URL of any documentation that could help in this solution.
Thanks ,
Ahmed,
No additional commands are required. To begin with, make sure that your h.323 phone is set for using codec g.711u only.

I want to upgrade the IOS of my Cisco 2821 from Version 12.4(11) to v 15.1 (XB), but I have CCME v 4.2 (0), is there any problem if I only upgrade the IOS and leave the CCME as it ?
ThanksCME is part of the IOS, so you can't upgrade the IOS seperately from CME.
That said, if this is a production environment you should proceed with caution and be prepared to roll back as you may find bugs, etc.
You should also look at release notes and make sure your phone firmware will still work or needs to be upgraded too.

Hi Mates,
I am just wondering if both SIP and SCCP can run on a single router? or should I make one for SIP and another one for SCCP?
Any answers will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
NicoThis is Video Over IP, please move to the relevant area.

ATA 186 - Faxing with sccp on CCME
Is there any specific config required to get a fax working with an ATA 186 with sccp, both in the ATA settings and ccme config ?
Any useful links or example configs would be a great help

HP Designjet 130, Dlink DNS 323 and OS X-can it be done?
I'm trying to use a D-Link DNS 323 to share my 130 with my MacBook Pro and PC. The PC setup was easy, but whenever I try to add the Samba shared printer in OS X (10.4.8), it shows "Kind" as Local System V Printer, which doesn't give me any control over paper, color, etc. Basically useless for my needs.
I've been having to manually find the driver since OS X won't display the 130 in it's printer list, so it's possible I'm pointing it to the wrong driver file, but I can't seem to figure out where I should point it to.
The printer does not appear to be supported by GIMP print or any of the other free drivers, so I fear I may be up a creek here.
Any ideas? I really don't want to invest in a JetDirect card at this point...The DesignJet 130 is supported by www.printfab.net.
Unfortunately not free. -

Unable to place call on calls on hold - SIP Trunk from CUCM to CUBE and from CUBE to ISTP
Hi Cisco Community,
I have a SIP Trunk setup between the CUCM and CUBE and another SIP Dial Peers from the CUBE to the ITSP. All incoming/outgoing calls, DTMF-Relay works well except one thing which is the ability to hold the call.
On the SIP Trunk from the CUCM to the CUBE, I did not select “MTP” because when I do so, I am forced to select my preferred MTP codec which when selected G.729/G.729a, all my outgoing calls goes out using G.729r8. This codec works well for most of the calls until the ITSP replies back with G.729br8. When this condition occur, my call simply fails (this is very intermittent and only some random numbers).
That said, I have some issues with DTMF Relay when I select MTP on the SIP Trunk. DTMF Relay only works if the call is G.729r8 all the way from the CUCM to the ITSP. If the ITSP replies back with G.729br8, the call might established but will simply be “voice-only”.
The current setup is no MTP is selected and everything is working perfectly. I am happy with that until I place a call on hold, which when I do so, the call immediately terminate. Could you please help me understand why?
I have all media resources configured such as G.729r8 MTP, G.729br8 MTP, G.711u MTP, Transcoding with all codecs, etc. All MRG and MRGL are configured on all devices and SIP Trunks.
Below is an example of a call that is connected with the current setup:

PM-HO-VG-01#Hi Manish,
Again, excellent feedback. Much appreciated.
I will try the commands suggested above and see if I can get DTMF to work correctly while interworking H.323 and SIP.
But my ultimate goal is to have SIP all way from the CUCM to the CUBE and from the CUBE to the ITSP.
If I enable SIP Early Offer with MTP on the CUCM going to the CUBE, all SIP Invite sent from the CUCM to the CUBE uses G.729r8 as the codec and once the call is established using G.729r8 should the ITSP reply with that codec, the call succeed and I am able to see an active MTP session using G.729 when I issue the command # show sccp connections.
One thing that I saw is that my ITSP love so much sending G.729br8 most of the times, so even if using SIP EO with MTP on the SIP Trunk to the CUBE, when I sent my INVITE out from the CUCM to the CUBE using G.729r8, specially on call center numbers such as 0800 numbers, you will see that the call established but the codec being negotiated is G.729br8 which is voice only (missing DTMF).
I will be doing some intensive test again later on this week and will send the logs.
Here is my question to both of you:
Which is the best way of having a proper SIP to SIP setup all the way that will not pose any problem?
Do I have to enable Early Offer on the SIP Profile used by the CUBE SIP Trunk or should I use the normal Standard SIP Profile? Do I need to enable MTP on my CUBE SIP Trunk or not?
From the CUBE point of view, I have a voice class codec that support G.729r8 or G.729br8 and the DTMF Relay method supported by the ITSP is RFC 2833.
I will send more logs for each scenario. I think that we are getting close to the resolution of this problem.
Thanks again for your support fellows. -
ITunes Server with D-Link DNS-323 NAS - not showing up in Shared list
Hi
I bought a DNS-323 to hold all my music. I am trying to get it working with iTunes.
I have enabled the iTunes Server function on the DNS-323, selecting which folder I want to use for music, and have allowed the device to 'refresh'. It then tells me it should appear in iTunes.
I have installed iTunes 10.2.1.1, but under Sharing, the only option that appears is Home Share. The DNS-323 does not appear in the list.
I have tried rebooting the NAS to no effect.
I've searched a lot on the subject and have seen that iTunes 10 causes issues with iTunes Server on a NAS device, but many people were saying that 10.1 fixes it. However, the threads then seem to go dead with no definitive answer.
Can anyone tell me where iTunes Server is still supported in 10.2.1.1, and if so if there are any suggestions on how to get the device to show up? ALL I get is the Home Sharing option under the Shared heading in iTunes. I tried iTunes 9.2.1 but had the same issue.
Thanks in advance
DaveHey Travis, mine only worked when I pointed to a folder with all music files: mp3, m4a... (all separated by artists folders)
After that, I could see my DNS 323 but I couldn't drag any songs to any playlists. I could also see some playlists on my DNS 323 but I couldn't modify them or add any.
I lost 3 days trying everithing but nothing worked. In the end, I clicked on the itunes "File" menu (Top left) and selected "Add folder to library" and I selected the folder with all my music. It must have taken 10 hours to import all the songs. It took me around 1:30 hours to rename over 300 songs (out of 1700) because they weren't properly named. They were all at the bottom of the list.
On my second computer, I cheated because I clicked on "Edit" in iTunes and selected "Preferences". On the "Advanced" tab, I changes the ITunes Media Folder Location and pointed to the one I created with the first computer. The music appeared (I didn't have to rename 300 songs again) and the playlists I had created were also there. This way, I only manage one computer and it should chage the other one.
I'm not sure what will happen when I add new songs but I had selected the music folder on the first computer so I hope they are added automatically. I think I might have to go back to the DNS 323 and do a refresh on the iTunes server to see new songs but I haven't tried it yet.
Hope it helps, -
CSS in CUCM for H.323 GW with FXS card
I have been working on getting FXS attached devices to be able to make calls (mostly faxing) from a remote site thru our corporate PRI. I have setup the GW in CUCM as H.323 and given it a CSS of "PSTNGateway_CSS" which contains my Internal_PT, VM_Pilot_PT, and Blocked_PT. I have found that I am not able to make outbound calls from FXS connected devices since I do not have any external patterns in those partitions which would be tied to a route list.
My question is:
What is the best practice for H.323 GW configurations in CUCM when you have an FXS card in the router?
Generally, the best practice for a GW is to only give it access to internal patterns (extensions or pilots) so as not to risk toll fraud. However, that is counter productive when you have FXS ports that need to be able to dial the outside world.
H.323 rtr (FXS ports) ----> 50Mb Metro-E ---> CUCM (Corp) ---> H.323 GW (PSTN Access)
As a measure of just making it work, I have added a special partition with local and long distance patterns to the current "PSTNGateway_CSS" so the calls will work. You need to set whatever CSS is required for that GW to make the calls it needs to, whichever it may be in your deployment, otherwise youll be stuck with internal dialing only

Building CME with SIP vs. SCCP Phones
We currently have 4 CME Systems with SCCP phones. Recently, it was discuss by our upper management to start using SIP phones. Right now the system I have configured are using a PRI for dialtone with POTS lines for backup. What needs to different on the config to use SIP? Do I replace the 'telephony-service' and current 'dial-peers' or add to them?
This is all new to me and I still have not been able to attend any formal training.
Would there ever be a reason to use SIP and SCCP phones on the same system and would that even work?
Any help is appreciated!Aha.... that's a different question.
The choice of your trunking protocol (PRI versus SIP versus something else like FXO/analogue) is largely independent of the protocol the handsets use. You can use SCCP for your handsets and then use SIP trunking into a provider for your external calls. The CME Router will handle the signalling translation between SCCP and SIP for you.
Like everyone else here, I would always use SCCP for the handsets. Whilst Cisco are improving SIP handset features all the time between releases you still can't do everything you that you can do with SCCP. You would also need version 15 to support some of the more useful SIP handset stuff including Extension Mobility, and my own personal view of the code quality on the version 15 trains would use such language that it can't be mentioned here.
SCCP to the handset and trunking over SIP is perfectly valid and I've used it many times with great success.
Hope this helps. Barry -

Somebody can adopt and update FreeSwitch?
Hi to everyone:
FreeSWITCH is a scalable open source cross-platform telephony platform designed to route and interconnect popular communication protocols using audio, video, text or any other form of media. It was created in 2006 to fill the void left by proprietary commercial solutions. FreeSWITCH also provides a stable telephony platform on which many telephony applications can be developed using a wide range of free tools.
FreeSWITCH was originally designed and implemented by Anthony Minessale with the help of Brian West and Michael Jerris. All 3 are former developers of the popular Asterisk open source PBX. The project was initiated to focus on several design goals including modularity, cross-platform support, scalability and stability. Today, many more developers and users contribute to the project on a daily basis.
We support various communication technologies such as Skype, SIP, H.323 and GoogleTalk making it easy to interface with other open source PBX systems such as sipXecs, Call Weaver, Bayonne, YATE or Asterisk.
FreeSWITCH supports many advanced SIP features such as presence/BLF/SLA as well as TCP TLS and sRTP. It also can be used as a transparent proxy with and without media in the path to act as a SBC (session border controller) and proxy T.38 and other end to end protocols.
FreeSWITCH supports both wide and narrow band codecs making it an ideal solution to bridge legacy devices to the future. The voice channels and the conference bridge module all can operate at 8, 12, 16, 24, 32 or 48 kilohertz and can bridge channels of different rates. The G.729 codec is also available under a commercial license.
FreeSWITCH builds natively and runs standalone on several operating systems including Windows, Max OS X, Linux, BSD and Solaris on both 32 and 64 bit platforms.
FreeSWITCH supports FAX, both over audio and T.38, and can gateway between the two.
Our developers are heavily involved in open source and have donated code and other resources to other telephony projects including openSER, sipXecs, The Asterisk Open Source PBX and Call Weaver.
The lastest version is available from here but the package is orphaned .
A lot of thanks

Tried to use iTunes library from Windows and Mac - lost everything
My iTunes Library is on a NAS (Dlink DNS-323) and until last night, I was only using it with my two macs (both running 10.5.6).
Last night, I wanted to use it from my Vista laptop so I looked up online and realized I can easily do it by renaming the "iTunes Library" file to iTunes Library.itl and double clicking from iTunes on Windows.
It seemed to work because when iTunes opened, I could see my playlists and I saw the message "updating library". I was afraid about the update to the library, so I just exit iTunes at the time thinking it would all be ok.
Guess not. This morning when I opened iTunes from my iMac, it opened with and empty library. I tried to do Library/Import Playlist and it did nothing but add the "standard" playlists to my library. I tried it a few times, with different settings (trying to re-rename the .itl back to just iTunes Library for example) and nothing worked.
Do I have any hope to recreate the library? From now on I will be backing up the NAS also, but meanwhile any ideas?Your library file was being converted from Mac-based paths to Windows-based paths; apparently iTunes isn't courteous enough to work on a temp file while doing that conversion. You're not going to get it back. (And now you've learned the hard lesson of making backups of your important stuff
If the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file is still in one piece, you can use File menu -> Library -> Import playlist and point the file dialog to the xml file. Just about all the previous iTunes-only metadata will be imported (IIRC, about all you lose is some "Skip" info, and of course, Date Added will reflect the new date of import). -
ASA 55xx and Videoconferencing and VCS
I'm not a Security or ASA guy but I always encounter on all my projects the question of "can you help me translate into a configuration that TCP/IP ports you need for your videoconferencing?"
APpreciate it a lot if someone can send or email or PM me a working config(scrubs the confidential info) of the ASA that will work for the setup that has
VCS Control
VCS Expressway
Internal video endpoints calling External (different company's) endpoints
ThanksSory forgot to add more details.
The protocols will be H.323 and SIP. Tandberg(now Cisco) has a document that lists all the TCP and UDP ports that are required to be open in the firewall.
It is just translating those ports into an actual ASA command lines or config that I need since I am not an ASA guy.
I just want to help the customer that is asking for assistance as I always encounter this question and it is a bt frustrating not have the info. I am enrolling myself in an ASA class soon though. -
Usage decision for movment type 323
Hello
Can anyone tell me how I can post movment type 323 through QA11 with a usage decision?
I can see in config Quality Management>Quality Inspection>Inspection Lot Completion>Define Inventory Postings that there is a posting UD TRANSFER02 that uses 323 but I cannot see how this is posted through transaction QA11!
Thanks
Suehello,
Can you do this. in the config path Quality Management>Quality Inspection>Inspection Lot Completion>Define Inventory Postings , create a new entry with 08 suffix. Assign mvt type 323 to it.
In my system it comes with a description "other qty posting". Save it. now this new entry will show up in qa 11 in the inspection lot stock tab where you could post the quantity with this entry to trigger 323 mvt type.
Now go OMJJ and check for mvt 323 whether QA11 is in the allowed transactions , if not add it there/. ( Caution: 323 isnt meant to work with QA11)
now run qa11, it works fine.
But my question is if you arent accepting , rejecting or doing a sample, or other functions described for QA 11 UD , then you can just do a MB1B 323 and this should serve your purpose, why do this though QA11.
Hope this helps
Thanks,
