H.323 Trunk-to-Trunk routing with CUCM 9-10 - Best way to program?
Looking for some expert guidance on the best way to implement trunk-to-trunk call routing in CUCM. By "best" I mean user friendly/manageable/efficient etc...
Here's the application: Inbound TDM calls will be hitting a large, H.323 gateway with 10-digit DNIS. I need CUCM to recognize the dialed number, then immediately route the call back out one of several smaller, H.323 gateways (depending on the dialed number) while passing the original dialed number to the system at the receiving end of the call.
The inventory of dialed numbers is large, and routing changes to individual numbers will be made by non-technical staff; so I would prefer to maintain the routing rules in CUCM rather than in the gateways.
One other layer of complexity: I need the ability to route the calls to destinations that may include only a single gateway, or span multiple gateways.
Any suggestions for a best way to implement this in CUCM would be greatly appreciated.
Simply make sure whatever dialed digits you get from GW A, via the inbound CSS, match a RP in CUCM which might point to an individual GW or a RL.
If necessary, adjust the dialed digits by adding/removing digits.

I have an AirPort Extreme and a linksys router. What is the best way to get 6-8 wired connections with ac speeds?
Appreciate your assistance. The answer depends on whether the AirPort Extreme is your main router....or...the Linksys device is your main router.
In either case, the two devices must connect together using a wired Ethernet connection using CAT5e or CAT6 cabling.
Any version of the AirPort Extreme produced within the last 5 years will have Gigabit Ethernet ports. In order to get the same speeds from the Linksys router, it will also need to be Gigabit Ethernet capable.
If you need additional Ethernet ports, you will need to add a Gigabit Ethernet switch to either the AirPort Extreme or Linksys router.
It is assumed that your other devices connecting to the AirPort Extreme and Linksys router will also have Gigabit Ethernet capability.
Not sure why you mention "ac" speeds in your post. This relates to wireless connections, not wired. -
Starting with a new iMac, best way to organise photos
My old computer macbook pro, was overflowing with badly filed photos, projects and files. As I start with a clean slate, my new iMac my question is the best way to be keeping things, I use illustrator mostly for complex surface patterns. I have photos galore in i-photo, some even have the same auto file number sequence as I use multiple sd cards. For my photos, should I use bridge, i-cloud, is iPhoto old school now. I am not going to just dump my old stuff over and want to do it properly, I promise not to be unorganised on my new iMac (promise). Also, a brief explanation of when you would use Raw, over Lightroom, over Photoshop or visa versa, or is it just a personal choice. The more I learn about software the more confused I get.
Thanks & much appreciated
Regards VickyI do understand the reference to the cloud not being about a specific app. I also understand that you, Vicky, are not quite sure which app to use with your fresh start. I am not sure it is horrible to ask here which app(s), workflow, or organizational system might be best to institute, given access to all the various apps available in CC.
I am not quite sure what you are doing, or what your previous workflow was, in part because of your mention of Adobe Illustrator for complex surface patterns. Were it not for that, between your title, and your reference to photos galore, I might suggest Lightroom. It is indeed in part a database, with an ability to handle, and organise, a very large number of photos. In addition to good developing and batch developing capabilities, as well as an ability to tag, as well as add to and manipulate metadata on both import and export, I find it useful. Were I to begin using Illustrator more, which I actually plan to do, I believe I'd either lean on bridge a bit more, very likely in conjunction with exported LR files, or see if it were in any way possible to set up AI as an external editor in LR, though at this point I've no idea if that is possible, or desired.
As to a specific workflow and system of organization, I feel that is quite subjective. For myself, I find myself creating a Library in LR for each Year, (though I could see a pro event photographer creating one for each event), and then importing my SD cards by copying as DNG, embedding the RAW, and setting up the file name to be the YearxxxxMonthxxDayxx_Hourxx24MinutexxSecondxx, with folders created for each month and day. That way, everything is ordered chronologically, even within the OS folders, and the filenames are consistent and unique. I also add metadata for the creator, etc. I then create Collections for each shoot I'm actually focussing on. From LR I can jump to PS or external third party addons, and return after I am done.
There are specific books and videos out there suggesting efficient ways of organizing and processing large numbers of images, and there is no, one right way. It largely depends on what you are comfortable with, and the way your mind works.
Best of luck to you; I know I'll need a bit, and a bit of self-discipline to buckle down and institute a consistent system myself. -
Problem with Huge .AVHD Snapshot, best way to merge and limit downtime.
We have a production Web Server (VM) under windows 2008 R2. We just realise that we have a 450Go .AVHD and 400Go VHD file.
We need to merge the .VHD/.AVHD, but from what i know, this will be a VERY LONG Downtime.
We also have a Windows 2012 Host available. Should I copy (.VHD/.AVHD) files to the new host (2012), create a new VM and attache the (.VHD/.AVHD). Then i will be able to use Server 2012 Live Merge (without downtime) ?
What would be the best solution ?
Regards,
SimonThe Live Merge will only work if you Export the VM and then Import it OR copy the VM disks, plus configuration to the Hyper-V 2012 Server and Import it.
The background / Live merge will only happen if Hyper-V knows this is a snapshot. So copying that part of the configuration over is key.
Simply copying the two virtual disks over will not achieve the same results.
In this case your time is sunk into the process of Exporting / getting the VM from Server A to Server B. If you can make that efficient, then you have it.
And, you can always test this ahead of time. So you know what you are getting yourself in to.
Also, I seem to recall that 2008 R2 was he release that added the option to export a snapshot. If so, this is another option. Create a new snapshot, right click it, select export (again, your VM must be powered off for this with 2008 R2).
The result is one flat VHD and no snapshots to merge. Just import and power on.
You can test if that option is there today with some empty VM.

Play project on projector with MBP retina. Best way?
I have a video project (Anamorphic DV with music) that will be shown in an auditorium on a projector. I want the best possible quality with least chance of problems. I'm just starting the editing, but want to get an idea of how I will present the final video.
The auditorium is primarily used for live plays, but they have an AV crew that I will be working with on the day of the showing. I haven't met with them yet, and want to make sure I start this project correctly.
For the showing, can I just connect the projector to my new MacBook Pro (Retina Display) using the HDMI port and play the project on my Mac from within FCP X? Would I just play it in the FCP timeline using full screen? Or do I select the projector somehow as a 2nd monitor? Or should I export the file as a full quality Quicktime movie? Is this better or worse than playing it directly within FCP? Less prone to problems? Would the quality be the same?
Don't have any experience with this, and there will be a couple hundred people for this event, so I want to make sure I do this right! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.Thank you Tom. I like the suggestions, but still a little unsure about the mechanics of a few things you mentioned.
1) Mirroring: I see in my Displays control panel a box that says, "Show mirroring options in menu bar when available." Does this mean that we connect the projector to the HDMI port on my MacBook Pro Retina, then an icon will apear along my menu bar at the top of my display? Then I select "mirroring" from that?
2) Deinterlacing: I have my project preferences set for 720 x 480 DV Anamorphic, because it was shot in SD anamorphic. I read that this is a typical resolution for SD projectors. I hope this is correct. I also set my project settings for 29.97p. Does this still require that I deinterlace the video? If it's set for 29.97p and not 29.97i, do I still have to deinterlace? If so, then in lieu of using software like JES Deinterlacer (which I'm not familiar with), can I just turn the field dominance to none somehow for the whole project? Whould this accomplish the same thing?
3) Back to the project settings. Still unsure if 720 x 480 DV Anamorphic is the correct choice. I shot most of the video with a Canon XL2 set for 16 x 9. I also shot some footage using a Sony HDR-FX1000, which is normally an HDV camcorder, but I had the camera set for SD so as to match the Canon footage. Also, I shot a portion of one tape in HDV mode by mistake. Will all this footage be usable in the project? Do I need to transcode it? It appears that the transcoding to Apple ProRes 422 is grayed out. I think FCP X is rendering the HDV footage, because there are render bars over those clips I believe. I hope this doesn't cause problems. Any advice in this regard given the info I've provided you? Again, is 720 x 480 DV Anamorphic the project setting you would use if this is going to a projector?
I hope you can give me your advice on these three items I am still unsure about. Thank you very much Tom. -

Automatic errordisable on trunk ports with errors
Hi
What's the best way, in CatOS, to set a trunk port to become errordisabled if there is excessive number of errors on the port (faulty sfp/gbic/cable)?
"udld aggresive mode" seems to be able to errordisable port when it can't re-establish link with the remote side, however it doesn't work when errors come in bursts and not constant.
ThanksYou can use the command "set errordetecion link-errors action errdisable" to errdisbale the linke based on the number of rx or tx crc errors due to the link being bad. This command was introduced in 8.4 release.
You can set several parameters of the command like setting up a thresold , recovery action , timers etc.
For more details , take a look here.

Cisco BE6k with CUCM 10.X integration with Siemens with Hipath 3350 and 3550
Dear Experts;
We have one requirment from customer.
They have 4 branches with Siemens Hipath 3350 and 3550 PBX and they want to integrate with cisco CUCM 10.x.
The Head Quater with complete CUCM as IPT and branches with with Hipath 3350 and 3550 PBX.
CIsco TAC says interoperability doc is not available and also I can see tehre is no doc.
TAC Reply As below.
We do not have any documents about CUCM integration with Hipath 3350 and 3550 on our interoperability portal. This means that their integration with CUCM was never properly tested. So we can not confirm that all features will be working. But from CUCM perspective this is third-party device that can be integrated using SIP or ISDN (with Voice Gateway between them).
Link for interoperability portal:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/enterprise/interoperability-portal/networking_solutions_products_genericcontent0900aecd805b561d.html#callmgr10
Regards
DebashisIf the Siemens supports SIP or H323 you can attempt to simply create a trunk between the systems and route calls via it. If IP integration is not an option then as pointed by TAC integrate via PRI circuit (preferably QSIG). From CUCM side it will be just another GW, similarly from Siemens side. You'll need to select which side is going to be ISDN network (I always use Cisco side) and then make the other side user.

RA VPN into ASA5505 behind C871 Router with one public IP address
Hello,
I have a network like below for testing remote access VPN to ASA5505 behind C871 router with one public IP address.
PC1 (with VPN client)----Internet-----Modem----C871------ASA5505------PC2
The public IP address is assigned to the outside interface of the C871. The C871 forwards incoming traffic UDP 500, 4500, and esp to the outside interface of the ASA that has a private IP address. The PC1 can establish a secure tunnel to the ASA. However, it is not able to ping or access PC2. PC2 is also not able to ping PC1. The PC1 encrypts packets to PC2 but the ASA does not to PC1. Maybe a NAT problem? I understand removing C871 and just use ASA makes VPN much simpler and easier, but I like to understand why it is not working with the current setup and learn how to troubleshoot and fix it. Here's the running config for the C871 and ASA. Thanks in advance for your help!C871:

Cisco TS 320 integration with CUCM
Dear Expert,
Is there any way we can integrate the TS 320 with CUCM without any conductor.
Means by SIP trunk or as Conference bridge.
BRI have TS on Media 320, so its means we can not use it as locally managed.
The TelePresence Server on Media 310/320 and Cisco TelePresence Server on Virtual Machine do not support locally managed mode; on these platforms, the
TelePresence Server must be managed by a system like Cisco TelePresence Conductor or Cisco TelePresence Exchange System.

Doc for Integrating Panasonic TDA100 and Panasonic KX-TD 12/32 with CUCM
I need Doc for Integrating Panasonic TDA100 and Panasonic KX-TD 12/32 with CUCM 8.6
Appreciate your supportHi Paolo,
I also need to integrate a Panasonic PANASONIC Ref. KX-TDE100 - Version 5.0, with a CUCM 8.6.2, I'd like to do it with SIP trunks since the Panasonic has the capability to do it.
I do have on my scenario this equipment:
CUP 8.6.2
CUCM 8.6.2
IOS Gateway: Cisco IOS Software, C2900 Software (C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.2(2)T1 with voice service voip enabled.
What do you think should work better,
a) Use Gateway as CUBE
c) User CUP as SIP Proxy
Is there any other better solution?
Please let me know your comments and if you have a link for any documentation regarding your answer.

No ringbacktone for inbound calls with cucm 8.6
Hi,
we have this problem from many days...
we have two branches with cucm cluster(Publisher and Subscriber) at Head office and cisco untiy. The branches are connected to Head office through MPLS vpn and all the ip phones are registred to publisher located at headoffice.
our setup is like below
HO and BR2 having SIP lines and BR1 has PSTN Lines.
we implement greetings for head office and 2 branches at Headoffice Unity.
when any call comes to headoffice gateway the greetings will be played and call will be diverted to the appropriate extension.everything is fine.
But the problem is when the call comes to Branch gateway and the greetings will be played and the call gets diverted to the IP phone to which the caller dialed the extension. but the caller is not hearing the ringback tone while the extension is ringing. and the caller cannot know whether the extension is ringing or the call got disconnected.
i tried to change the " Send h225 User Information Message" in service parameters from "Use ANN for Ring Back" to H225 Info for call Progress Tone"
whenever i am changing to "H225 Info for call Progress Tone" then the branches problem getting solved but Headoffice getting the same problem.
please can anyone help............................Hi Carlo,
Thankyou for the Response...

Error message when syncing CUACEE 9.0.1.2 with CUCM 9.1.1
Hi all,
When I set up the CTI template, I chose owner userid as "none" but then when syncing the AC, I get the message on the sync report for every device of "Error -206 The specified table (owneruserid) is not in the database."
If I set the template to use a specific owner userid and resync, then it works correctly, but I don't want these CTI ports associated with a userid.
Is there any reason why this would be happening, as I have been able to do it in the past with "none" on 8.6Sean,
Yes, this is a known defect: CSCue69477 - CTI Route Port Synch Issue with CUCM. As per the bug:
"This issue will occur if the "SUBSCRIBE Calling Search Space" under Protocol Specific Information in the Template for the CTI Route Ports is configured. To work around this, the "Owner User ID" under Device Information for the Template needs to be configured."
Regards,
Jason
