H-REAP maximum RTT requirement?

Our wireless controllers & WiSM's are deployed centrally.
We set up all our LWAPP AP's in H-REAP mode to take advantage of local switching, so that clients can access local resources w/o having to traverse all the way to the WiSM's and then back to the remote sites.
One WiSM cluster is deployed in the east coast, and one in the West Coast, because we were told the RTT for H-REAP should be <100ms.
We were told as long as we increase the EAP timer, H-REAP would work coast to coast.
My questions are:
Has anyone done it?
If it's true and works, exactly what variables and parameters should we set in terms of EAP?
(WISM) config>advanced eap ?
advanced eap ?
eapol-key-timeout                          Configures EAPOL-Key Timeout in seconds.
eapol-key-retries                             Configures EAPOL-Key Max Retries.

Hi John,
Good news!
The support for the number of H-Reap AP's increased to 8 in the WLC 4.0.206.0 Release :)
These additional changes are available in controller software release 4.0.206.0:
•Client roaming with multicast packets is now supported.
•Up to 10 access points can be concurrently upgraded from the controller.
•***Hybrid REAP can now be used with up to eight access points.

  • Lync network RTT requirements?

We currently have Lync Enterprise set up in one data center that does not have direct Internet connectivity.  We are planning on setting up an Edge and Director server, where the Edge server is in our DMZ in another data center.  The RTT between
these two networks is about 80ms.  Is there any documentation regarding RTT requirements (e.g. for SharePoint, RTT must be <1ms between each server in the farm)?  Is there any documentation about the placement of the Director?
    http://sharepoint.nauplius.net

The Lync server planning guide gives the following advice "Provision your network to ensure a maximum end-to-end delay (latency) of 150 milliseconds (ms) under peak load. Latency
is the one network impairment that Lync Server media components cannot reduce, and it is important to find and eliminate the weak points." The guide is available for download
here and the quote comes from Chapter 2, which deals with infrastructure requirements.
You should allow for the latency introduced by the firewall.
The Director should be on the internal network. Since the Director is used to authenticate user, it would be best to locate it wherever most of the users are located. The Director
drops out of the path once it forwards internal users to their home pool. For external users, the Director stays in the communications path, so keep this in mind when deciding on location.
Finally, you might not be aware that the Director is an optional role.
    Hope that helps.

  • LAP to WLC - Maximum RTT Delay Limits in the real World!

    Hi,
I've seen the design related info that says the maximum RTT between the LAP and its WLC has to be less than 300ms.
I'm working on a solution where a number of the APs will be across WAN links where the RTT are from 250ms to 323ms. Has anyone experience of the types of problems that occur when the 300ms is exceeded, or indeed is there a real world RTT value that we should work to rather than the stated values? Has anyone installed Aps where the RTT is greater than 300ms and is it reliable? I ask as I can find no references to this on Cisco.com or in the CAPWAP RFC and our competiors (in the bid) using non-Cisco products are very clear that this is not a problem for them.
Any guidance much appreciated as usual.
    Thanks. Phil.C

    IMO
Voice issues would be the biggest concern.  Part of the reason we keep a 300ms RTT is because you need to have 150ms RTT for voice to work cleanly.  While the AP may stay connected at 323ms, you will most likely have some voice issues.

  • Maximum Connections required per Application instance?

    Hi,
I have an application consisting of 20 BAPIs in its model DC. There is only 1 single JCO connection, implies onyl 1 backend. How do I determine the maximum connections per instance in this case.
Or is it something like this value is mostly 1?
    Regards
    MK

    MK,
all your BAPIs can share the single JCo-Connection. How many instances of this Connection are created during runtime is editable in the WebDynpro-Content Administrator (http://<host>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcwdtools/Explorer)
there you can change "JCo Pool Configuration" of your JCOs (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/3a/3b1b40fcdd8f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm)

  • Does MGCP have a maximum delay requirement

    Hi All,
In a senario where the call manager and gateway (mgcp) are connected over the WAN. Is the a maximum round trip delay for the MGCP router?
    Thanks

    Hi
MGCP will work over high delay paths and calls will be connected etc. What you need to consider however is the "Media Cut Through Delay" While a device is ringing, media is generally not flowing (RTP Packets)until the connected or off hook state. At which point the media is setup. This delay between off hook and RTP packets actually starting to flow causes clipping of the first word(s) of the call. This is generally a concern with call center agents.
If you start getting above 150ms one way delay, you should consider this.

  • Maximum length Title field SSP

    All,
We use Service Manager 2012 with the default Microsoft Self Service Portal solution.
When users enter a very long title in a request, than is it not possible to create the request because the length is not conform the maximum length requirement.
Is it possible to make a "message" when the user enter the title, and he passed the maximum length, he recieves the message that he passed the maximum length.
Is that possible with Silverlight? If yes, how?
    Regards,
    Dennis

    Dear Dennis,
In the request offering related to the request published in the portal, go to "Configure Prompts" tab, select the Title prompt, and click Configure on the top right of the grid.
Once the Configure Text Control window is loaded, you can limit string length in the Length Constraints part and give the text a minimum and maximum Length.
In this way, the portal will show by itself a validation alert message for the end user if the length is greater than the maximum length.

  • BI & XI together

Hi ....Can anyone help me with scenarios in which BI & XI work together in one implementation for best performance of Netweaver Stack...kindly have some supporting info.doc for the same.

    Hi,
Kindly refer to the following business case for XI & BI dual use
Most of the time when a business asks to use BI open hub architecture and extraction mechanisms instead of SAP XI, it's because of the extra costs and budget involved in using XI. We'll propose potential solution approaches for the business case that leverage SAP XI and open hub architecture and we'll look at extraction mechanisms of SAP BI that do not use SAP XI. We draw out a comparison matrix that concludes the recommended approach.
    Business drivers
Let's say that with an organization mission of "Global Business Processes," all of the subsidiaries of Org A plan to replace and merge most of their back office solutions into SAP. IT landscape is the most critical factor; hence, we propose a solution approach, in the form of a Global Employee Database (GED) business case, that can help the business to reap maximum benefits.
    Business case description
GED is a legacy system that the subsidiaries of Org A use for storing employee data. The IS team needs to update the data each month after it collects the changed records from the HR and payroll departments. Each subsidiary provides the delta files in either Excel or fixed width formats, which the IS team then reconciles and loads into the GED. The IS team sends these files to three external business partners on a monthly basis. First, it uses export routines for each of the business partners; then the files are password protected, zipped and sent out via email. One partner receives a text file, but the other two receive spreadsheets.
Sometimes the IS team is unable to send the files on time because of problems that might occur in data loading or data reconciliation.
The IS team also sometimes uses GED to search the employee information for internal purposes. GED is also used annually to collate diversity information from all of the businesses as of March 31st. This is to provide an overall company profile for input to the annual report. During this operation, the IS team has to manually pull the data from GED and use lookups and pivot tables to produce the info required (Crystal Reports are not working). On an ad hoc basis, business partners may request a complete dump; in this case, the IS team needs to pull up the employee data from the GED manually and send it to the business partners.
This is the current landscape in the organization:
    Drawbacks
    1.     Manual intervention by the IS team affects the businesses' ability to perform key activities.
    2.     The approach consumes time and effort by the IS team for collating the employee data, loading the data into the GED and sending to the business partner. It can hamper the IS team's ability to carry out critical day-to-day activities.
    3.     Manual processes are more error-prone and effort-intrinsic.
    4.     No mechanism is available to slice and dice across the data to come up with KPI'S.
    5.     The IS team is unable to monitor and track business across various subsidiaries.
    6.     After requesting the complete employee information data, business partners have to wait for the IS team to pull the large volume of data and reconcile and send it.
    7.     No automated mechanism is available to notify in the event of failure of data loading.
    8.     The process is human-dependent and prone to loss of information when a person leaves the organization.
In this approach, we use the ETL layer of the SAP XI+BI dual stack for pushing the full employee data load and we tap an ABAP proxy for sending employee delta records to the business partners. We'll use standalone SAP BI with cleansed records that are apt for business analysis.
The solution approach is two-fold. It involves:
    1.     Sending delta employee records
    2.     Sending up-to-date employee records and searching employee information
    Sending delta employee records
SAP XI extracts the employee information from SAP, Oracle and the other four legacy systems using the relevant adapters that then send it to the business partners and standalone SAP BI simultaneously. Users are alerted to any errors as required by the business.
In addition to sending the data, SAP XI can validate and transform the data as required by the target system.
SAP XI pulls the employee data from SAP, Oracle and the four legacy systems through an ABAP proxy and file adapter respectively. Data is zipped as a password-protected email with password protected and sent to the business partners by SAP XI using an email adapter. Data is also transformed into the format required by SAP BI and sent using an ABAP proxy or SOAP adapter.
Send complete dump and search employee information
As we mentioned in part 1, on an ad hoc basis, any of the three business partners can request the complete employee info. In our solution, we accomplish this through an ABAP WebDynpro user interface that takes the request and pulls the file for them. We use the ETL layer of SAP XI to pull the complete employee dump and then we use a file adapter to push the complete employee dump (in groups of records) to the business partners.
The IS team can also search the employee information using the same ABAP WebDynpro that pulls the relevant employee information from the Oracle, four legacy systems and SAP.
After successfully sending the data, we delete the data from PSA tables of SAP XI+BI dual stack.
    Solution approach advantages and disadvantages
    1.     This solution is completely automated and doesn't require any manual intervention, which improves efficiency of the IS team.
    2.     Redundant data that is not used for business reporting is not stored in the SAP BI.
    3.     Standalone BI is shielded from the regular ETL process (as it is done by SAP dual stack XI + BI and sends it to SAP BI) that directly improves the performance of the BI, which is predominantly used for huge historical data analytics.
    4.     Robust error handling can be done in SAP XI for alerting the required support group if any error occurs while loading the data or dumping the delta files.
    5.     Files can be archived for re-processing when an error occurs during the data load or when pushing the relevant files.
    6.     The approach enables the IS team to make business decisions by storing only relevant information in BI and not simply dumping the files in the same format as received by the source systems.
    7.     The solution is adaptable for if more systems have to be plugged in with this architecture in the future.
    8.     The business can be better notified of system failures, enabling quicker action.
    9.     Building cross-component applications on top of SAP XI using SAP CAF would take only a matter of hours.
    Disadvantages
    1.     POC has to be built and tested for feasibility
    Conclusion
This is strictly a solution for the given business case and probably has to be tested for high volume data, as SAP XI has to be highly available for these kind of scenarios. We just have tried to demonstrate an example business case wherein we need to fit SAP XI and use the ETL layer of SAP XI in a BI landscape. Note that the solution approach should be based on various business factors and evaluated for feasibility.

  • Runtime errors SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC

    Hi Team,
We are facing daly batch jobs failure while  planned to production order conversion (Programe-PPIO_Entry).I can found following analysis in ST22.Pleas help me to solve this problem.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB', was not caught
         in
procedure "HEADER_POST" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
If you use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert to insert a record in
the database and that record already exists with the same key,
        this results in a termination.
(With an ABAP/4 Open SQL single record insert in the same error
situation, processing does not terminate, but SY-SUBRC is set to 4.
Can anybody suggest what corrective action do i need to take.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
The dump may happen due to incorrect current number in the number range interval.
e.g. the number range of produciton order, the highest number in the order table, e.g. AKFO, is 1000, but the current number assigned to the number range interval is 900, then the system will assign a new number 901 = 900 + 1 to the new order then the dump comes as the number 901 already exist in table AFKO. Please change the current number to the one higher than the highest number of table, e.g. 1001 then no dump will happen.
While creating the produciton order, several number range objects other than order number is called so you need check them as well. The SAP note 24097 includes a report which can get the hightest number of tabls for the objects can be checked.
Here is the detail of the note and the report for your reference.
    Long text
    Symptom
When you create a production order, the system generates error message:
"ERROR DURING STATUS_UPDATE" The update was canceled
    ABAP processor: SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC;
The termination occurred in the ABAP/4 program "SAPLBSVU"
    Additional key words
    CO01, CO40, CO41, MD04, VA01, COR1, Create order
    Cause and prerequisites
The copying of sales order data between clients means that objects were
transferred with numbers that are higher than the current status of the
respective number range objects in the target client. When a new order
is created, number assignment according to the status of the number
range objects results in double entries.
    Solution
You must adapt the status of the number range objects according to the
copied data: In the configuration menu of Master Planning (Transaction
OLPF) under Master Data -> Order -> Number ranges (Transactions CO80,
    CO81, CO82, CO83, CY89).
You can transport the statuses of the number range objects from the
source client of your copied sales order data into the target client.
However, you should always be careful when changing the number ranges
since multiple assignment of the same numbers can result in IRREPARABLE
    inconsistencies in your system.
You should only ever INCREASE the current status of a number range
    object !!!
You can determine the highest number status of the respective objects
with attached selection report. For the order numbers, you must note
that the highest current number status can only be determined correctly
if no external number assignment was used.

  • Dynamic memory not released to host

    Dear Techies,
Ours is a small Hyper V virtual server infrastructure with three DELL power-edge physical hosts(Windows server 2012 Datacenter) and around 15 virtual machines running on top of it. The hosts are added to fail-over cluster. Each host has 95 GB RAM. All the
VMs are running Windows server 2012 standard edition.
We have installed terminal services(TS licensing, TS connection broker, TS session host) in four VMs with the following dynamic memory settings:
    Start-up RAM : 2048 MB
    Minimum RAM : 2048 MB
    Maximum RAM : 8192 MB
Below mentioned applications are configured in the server:
    Nova Application Installed
SQL Developer Tool is Configured (ODBC Connection established for Database communication)
FTPs communication allowed for File Transfer
McAfee Agent is configured (Virus Scanner)
Nimsoft Robot Agent Configured – Monitoring
    Terminal Service
Enabled Multiple terminal sessions based on customer requirement
BGinfo tool configured through group policy for customized desktop background
The average memory utilization in the terminal servers are 3.6 GB. As per dynamic allocation the maximum RAM requirement/allocation till date is 4GB. As seen in Hyper V console, the current RAM demand is 2300 MB and assigned memory is 2800 MB.
However, the earlier assigned RAM in the server is ballooned/faked to the VM as driver locked memory. This is by design. Despite the memory being released back to the host, the server still shows up the 4Gb which makes the memory utilization report from
monitoring tools look 80% (3.2 GB out of 4 GB).
As a result, the memory utilization report is always based on the current dynamically allocated RAM and not calculated based on the maximum assigned RAM(8GB in this case). To make it clear: If the
currently assigned RAM is 4Gb and utilization is 3.2 GB the utilization % is reported as 80%. However, if calculated in accordance with maximum RAM capacity of the server it would be 40% ((3.2/8)*100).
Is there any way to release the driver locked memory from the VM.?
    Regards,
    Auditya N

I am not really clear on the point of your question.
Allocated RAM is what is currently in use / allocated to a VM out of the physical RAM pool.  It is Demand + Buffer.  The demand is based on the applications in the VM and what they think they need and how efficiently they return unused memory
to the machine.  This has nothing to do with in-application paging (which happens a lot with Terminal Servers).
So yes, the memory utilization is accurate in relation to physical RAM utilization.
Dynamic Memory is about efficiency, not about over-allocation.  Hyper-V can never give VMs more RAM than is in the physical RAM pool.  The VMs can be configured to have more RAM than is in the physical RAM pool - but the VMs will hit the top of
the pool and not be allowed to have any more.  There is no ballooning or paging to disk.
So, you maximum allocated could go beyond what is possible.  But that would mean that your utilization would be artificially low if this was used in the calculation.

  • Erros while staffing with WFD

    Hi guys,
I'm trying to use WFD for resource staffing but I always get the following error messages:
Error icon - Error in cProjects; Maximum allowed required capac ity was exceeded
Warning icon - cProject warning; Time was converted from 5,00 MIN to 0,01 FTE - rounding errors are possible
Warning icon - Required/Planned capacity of Demand Developer does not match
In the above case I was staffing a person for 5 minutes (to be sure that I wasn't overstaffing), while the required capacity of the Demand in WFD shows me 4 FTE's (consulting days of 8 hours each day). I tried that with two persons, one that has 10:29 hours of availability and one that has 0:00 hours of availability, and in both cases I get the same messages.
In cProjects I had set the "Required Capacity" of role Developer to "4,0 Con.Day" (which was reflected to WFD). And I assigned the role a task with 3 FTE's of work, so the "Total Work" of that role shows me "3,0 Con.Day".
Does anyone know what's wrong? Required capacity of the demand is 4 FTE, and I was trying to staff someone for 5 minutes, which was converted to 0,01 FTE and is way smaller than 4 FTE. So I didn't understand why I got the first error message in this case. And looking at the third error message, what does it mean?
    Thanks!

    Hi!
    Check SAP Note 866776:
<h6>The time units that can be transferred from RPA to cProjects must be defined as allowed time units in cProjects. You must specify at least those time units in cProjects that are marked as primary units of measurement for the ISO code.
Checking primary units of measurement and ISO code:
    Transaction cuni:
On the detail screen under ALE/EDI, check the primary source code selection for each time unit.
    Allowed time units in cProjects:
    Customizing:
Collaboration Projects > Basic Settings > Define Time Units</h6>
We have such problem, when we used time unit "H - Hour". After we have set "Hr - Hours" the issue have solved.

  • CS4 Installation & Memory

    Hi,
I would like to install Photoshop CS4.  While starting to do so, I got an error message stating that the maximum Ram requirement was 2GB, which I do have (my system data tells me my PC's max Ram capacity is 2GB, Installed Memory 512 MB, Memory Slot 1 is also 512 MB).  Can anyone tell me if it is indeed possible to install CS4??
Apologies if this seems dumb, or I'm repeating other peoples' questions.
    Any advice would be appreciated!

Your facts are a bit mixed up CS4 ideally needs 2GB RAM but will run on 1GB I believe.
You seem to have 1GB so it should work – just.
