H264 colours (colors) UGLY! What can I do?

I compressed our movie trailer to H264 using compressor (2.3) for web delivery.
If I watch it in Quicktime (7.1.6) or Safari (2.0.4) then the colours are washed out, pale, unsaturated and it looks overexposed - basically rather ugly.
If I watch it in Mail or Firefox it looks lush.
This is an old problem (eg see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=210793&start=0&tstart=0) from more than a year ago. This thread describes the problem and the technological issues but not a usable solution.
Have Apple taken note of the problem? Is there a work-around that will allow our trailer to be watched similarly from one application to another and from one computer to another?
I can post screen grabs if need be to demonstrate the extreme difference between the two.

Having spent a few hours looking around the Net for answers - I discover that this was all being discussed over a year ago on DVinfo, Apple Mailing lists & discussion groups, ...all over - but as yet no answers.
It seems to be a hardware acceleration issue, perhaps related to ICC monitor profiles (which I use), and I keeping reading that Apple Quicktime engineers were aware of this issue and working on it ( a year ago!!!).
The fact that this artifact does not affect Apple H264 trailers means someone knows how to get round it. We have been asked to deliver our product in H264 but don't want it to look ugly!!

Where are you and where did you get the phone. This sounds like a classic symptom of someone who bought an iPhone that originated in the U.S. which was then hacked so it would run on a carrier network other than AT&T... Then, when updating the phone, it becare re-locked to AT&T.
If that's what happened, you now own a paperweight. AT&T will NOT unlock them for any reason.
If this isn't the case, please clarify where you are, what carrier you have and where you got the phone so we can begin troubleshooting.

Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences, click on the Seeing tab, turn off White on Black, and drag the Contrast slider all the way to the left.

Help - after NG6 update cannot print to HP 4600dn color laser - what can I do?

I was always able to print easily from my Galaxy S4 to my local lan networked HP 4600dn. I still can from my Note 3 which is at NC4 update.
I'm guessing when the Note 3 is forced to update I won't be able to print to the HP 4600dn from it either. Was that ability intentionally removed to force me to use cloud printing or pay for extra apps? I see Google and HP are really pushing that. I'm not crazy about my personal documents going onto the cloud and then back to my printer so that option is a no go for me. I don't see where I can make any changes to the printer compatibility on my S4. Thank you if you can help me fix this.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I produce church bulletins and the format that I use shows everything is in black except my front and inside cover. When I make copies I am charged for all color. What can I do to correct this?

Window > Output > Separations Preview and then you need to select Separations from the dropdown at the top of the panel.
Click the eyeball next to the Black plate to turn it off. If there is no color on the page it should go blank. If it doesn't, you've found the problem.

Are you using Keynote on an iPad?

You can't migrate the Final Cut Studio apps. They install bits and pieces all over the system folder and libraries. if those files are missing, the apps can't work properly. That's your issue.
use FCS REMOVER from digitalrebellion.com (free) to uninstall FCS 3, and then install again from scratch, and update with the Software Update.

Clean it again, very carefully with a cloth dampened with water only (NOT WET), if it will not come back to normal you can have the screen replaced by Apple, this will not be under warranty.
From now on just use a damp (NOT WET) cloth and a lot of care.
Never spray on the screen, always have the iMac off when cleaning with any kind of conductive fluids (water)
