H264 playback - white screen in QT 7.12

A question that has been posted often, but i still haven't found a satisfactory answer, so I appologize in advance, maybe i'im just missing something.
I am attempting to play a show that was encoded with x264 on my macbook, using Quicktime player 7.12. h264. I get a white screen, but I do get audio.
all support pages i get to say to load the proper codec, but i was able to play some of the h264 stuff from the quicktime site...
I can successfully play the file using VLC.
So, i can play the file, but i'm presuming that quicktime player is what is used with iLife and i'd like to be able to access it via my remote.
A bit picky to be sure, but i also don't like having difficulties playing stuff in quicktime when it is supposed to be a natively supported codec... If it is a "non-standard" version of encoding i supose that would a reason? but then why would VLC be able to play it?

VLC allows playback of many file formats not supported by QuickTime Player.
Many "PC" versions of H.264 (your x264 files) are not supported as they uses different video codecs.
Use the Movie Info window to show what codec is used in the file. Search the Internet for a compatible version.

HD Playback White Screen - No Video Playing

My NTSC-AVCHD-Full HD 1080i 30 does not play my HD videos in workspace or preview mode. I do hear sound, but only get white in the display area. ANy ideas why this is happening? I had to re-install after using it great for 2 years. I have an i5-2500K, NVIDIA 560 Ti and 16 GB RAM.

Device driver error msg at startup-get white screen w/audio during playback

PE10 has been working fine until today.
Upon startup I get an error message saying my display driver is incompatible.
I checked the driver in Windows 7-it says the driver is up to date and working fine.
When playing back a video clip I'm editing in PE10, I get a white screen in the playback area with the correct audio. When I pause the playback, the video image appears. Play = white playback screen.
I have
-checked the display driver
-rolled my computer back to an earlier restore point
-uninstalled and reinstalled PE10
-turned off my firewall
Any other suggestions to try?

What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).

M-PEG2 Playback for QT did not work. Still getting white screen.

I'm trying to convert some broadcast quality HD video (MPG file) using M-PEG Streamclip on an old Macbook Pro (OS 10.4.11) using Quicktime 7.6.4.
I downloaded the M-PEG2 Playback Component in order to do so. Still, when I drag my video into Streamclip, it only appears as white. When I attempt a conversion (H.264) to a .MOV, it only gives me a black screen with full audio.
Can anyone help me with this? I've read that my video may be of TOO HIGH of quality for Quicktime to handle...yet the video plays back just fine on a $500 PC using Windows Media Player.
Any help would be appreciated.

jmrmb80 - Yes the device is still recognized by the Desktop Manager. I reloaded the OS on it this morning and the App Loader says it was successful - but on reboot the white screen loads and thats it.
billrobinson - I haven't dropped the phone since I bought it. I wish I had b/c then I could blame it on something. My friends drop their phones all the time, spill stuff on them etc.... and I do nothing - and my phone blows up

Pre 9 playback issues (white screen)

I just got tabbed with doing the company slideshow for the Christmas party, and I did some research and saw the PRE 9 is supposed to be the best for doing this type of thing. I'm giving it a test run this morning, and I can import pictures, organize them into the timeline, but there's only a white screen in the preview. I rendered everything, and went to "full screen" to see if that would work, still no dice. I hope this is a quick fix that I am just being a bonehed with - HELP?!?

HDV 1280x720 video - getting a white screen on playback, even with FCPS!

I have a bunch of HDV clips that I cannot play back in Quicktime - they have blank white screens when I play them. I know that HDV is a bit of an odd beast, and that it is not natively part of Quicktime. I have Final Cut Pro Studio (1.0, not FCPS2) installed, and Final Cut can play the movies if I drag them into a timeline, but the HDV movies will not play back in Quicktime Player.
I even went back to my original FCPS disks and manually installed the HDV codecs - they still play back with white windows in Quicktime Player.
How can I fix this? I don;t want to have to open FCP every time I want to preview an HDV clip.

I don't understand.
As far as I know, I only have one Quicktime Player. I have only one OSX install on the Mac.
My FCPS is not universal, if that's what you mean. It is PowerPC (We do not have the universal disks yet, this is our first Intel Mac). I think that Quicktime PLayer is native, but FCPS is not.

Ipod nano, white screen of death

my ipod nano4gb went to a white screen, still plays and i can update, but only a white screen, makes playback by menu memory a bit challenging. any event, went to Man Beach apple store for repair, booked a genius, spoke with buddy and a replacement is ready for pick up. three days total delivery, 90 minutes wait for the genius. Great Job Apple! Wow!
also, on a separate note, while waiting for the genius, i was continually amazed by the level of customer enthusiasm in the store, even the genius bar is a "stroke of genius" by apple marketing. direct customer interaction, peripheral customer involvement, all genius's well trained and communicative. it was an "experience" that i spoke glowingly about to my friends and colleagues about for several days.

Yeah the same thing just happened to me on saturday. It doesn't look like the screens cracked or broken at all. it's just a white screen. I could still play music and update and all. Screen jus makes it hard to navigate. I contacted yesterday apple and they're sending me a box to ship to them so they can check it out. Not sure if they'll fix it though.

.AVI file has white screen but does have sound...

I have an .AVI file someone sent me which by using QT Pro shows just a white screen but does have audio.
I have Perian installed and it didn't help with the white screen. I have opened it fine in VLC player, and a couple of other media players but my issue is that I want to import the AVI file into iMovie so I can make it into a DVD. However, if I import it into iMovie, it will be the same white screen with audio.
I have searched the web far and wide to find a solution and most are saying it could be only viewable in QT on a PC of all things.
Is there any components out there which will help me with this problem? Any other suggestions?

But when I selected the problematic AVI file it too appeared with a white screen w/sound in MPEG Streamclip. So I realized it wouldn't help me either.
A white screen usually means the selected video codec is not compatible with the actual file. Normally, I would run a conflict test. Based on your previous posts regarding the compression formats in use and the video codec attempting to perform video playback, my first guess would be that the Perian component is trying to decode a DivX (possibly v5) file. I would probably either temporarily remove the Perian component and see if the AVI file plays or remove and then replace the DivX component (if the latest one is already installed) and see if this changes the component access order so DivX is called for video playback. If you have an older DivX component installed, there may be a conflict issue. (Remember to close QT while removing/replacing components so the list will be re-initialized before making a playback test.) If all else fails, try posting a sample file so we can see if the problem can be duplicated on other systems/configurations.

Apple dropped playback support for .swf formats in QuickTime almost ten years ago.
Adobe Flash Player is the only way to view them.

White Screen when Video Plays

I am using Premiere Elements 9 software. When i add clips to the timeline and hit play, the video does not play in playback screen, instead i just get a white screen. Once i hit the puase button, the picture of the frame the playerhead is on goes back onto the screeen, but as soon as i hit the play button, the screen turns white again. I have updated my graphics card drivers and the prject settings are correct. What is causeing the issue?

Thank you for that info. You have got a pretty recent (did not check, but that might be the latest) video driver. I sort of expected to see a date about 6 - 8 mos. ago. If there IS a newer driver, I would definitely try that. Also, as over the years, both nVidia and ATI/AMD have issued drivers, that were just bad with Adobe programs, I keep older (known good) drivers on my HDD, just in case I have to roll-back.
Do you have a Dell, HP, Lenovo or Toshiba computer? The reason that I ask is that those companies very often re-wrap the nVidia (and ATI/AMD) drivers, to work with their tweaked hardware.
With the latest video driver, and that Canon footage, if you have the proper Project Preset, things should edit fine. The smoothness of editing/playback will be heavily dependent on your CPU's speed, but should not affect the display.

White screen when renting

When I rent a movie I just get a white screen with no video or sound although it says movie is downloaded - any advice?
I can view trailers, watch all exisiting material I have purchased, but renting movies has stopped working.

Video preview not working, I can see only white screen.

Hello, I have been using Adobe Premiere on my Vista64 for a while, but few days ago I started having problems with previewing video. I can see only white screen, which doesnt react on anything I do in premiere (trying to preview movie, add grids etc.) I tried to reinstall many times but only thing I managed after one reinstall was that it started showing me what is on the timeline when I clicked on a timeline, but when I wanted to play preview it was frozen and then it turned white again. Since that it is still white.
Playback in other adobe programs (such as After Effects) works fine on my computer.
Would you please help me to find out what causes this problem and how to fix it? (I doubt it is codecs because it worked fine before and then it suddenly stopped working without any change in codecs...)

It may or may not be possible to verify the usage of such a technology device. And where did you get the idea that it costs $10 to manufacture and sell an iPad? I think the parts cost alone was $260, not counting manufacturing, shipping, storage, retail space, salespersons, helpdesk support, all the other overhead costs, etc. etc.
With so many people out there trying to scam the system, it will be an uphill battle to try to convince anyone that you bought it and didn't open the box for 14 months. That's very unusual.
At some point, the store you bought something from (in this case it was Apple) has to say no. What if it had been unopened for 2 years, or five years, or 20 years? This is what the warranty period is all about. It starts on the day you buy it and ends at the end of the warranty period, regardless of usage.
I am sympathetic to your plight but if you are able to get a new iPad (refurbished would be more likely), it will be through the kindness of Apple going above and beyond. If you do not get one, it is not Apple's fault you waited this long and there is no requirement for them to replace it.

Trouble with Keynote slide preview: blank white screen?

I built an animated intro slide using several pictures and text boxes. When I try to playback all i get is a blank white screen. I can hit escape or the pause button and it returns me to Keynote without a problem. I just can preview my slide. New to Mac and Keynote, all help is

Kinect Studio v2.0 showing white screen

I have this problem in Kinect Studio v2.0 where neither the 2D nor 3D view seems to be working. All I see is a white screen.
I have checked all connections and power lines and they are all working fine. In fact, all samples in the kinect browser works just fine when I run them. But when I run the kinect studio and connect / monitor it, the feed just does not appear. Has anyone
encountered this problem before? Or am I missing out a certain setting?

Have you tried upgrading your drivers. From the screenshot you provided it seems like you have a generic driver installed for Intel. Which chipset do you have? Can you attach the save DXDiag export file from the tool. If you connect an external
monitor do you get the same behavior?
Is this a clean system that had no previous SDK installed?
You might want to try resetting the View settings for the layout and confirm nothing has changed. The UI is configurable from the File > View otion. Click the "Revert to Default" option.
Since you have the control buttons still visible, if you record a clip, and click the Play tab does that screen still show white? If you click the play button on the Play, does the data playback work in any of the samples?
The last resort ay be to uninstall everything to ensure you are in a good state. This includes removing all instance of "Kinect" based components in "Programs and Features" control panel. Remove SDK, runtime and drivers and reboot
the system without the sensor attached. Once you reboot, confirm no instance of those components are on the system and proceed to re-install.

It doesn't matter what I try, I just keep getting a white screen show up with a play button in the middle. Once I have pressed the play button in the middle the rest of the slides play, this is not good - I need to ensure company logo is first thing users see.

Chrome version 36 has some issues with captivate html5 output. Please find the following workaround for the issue.
