H264 problems in Director 11.5

Has anyone had any problems using H264 video in Director 11.5?  I am using H264 quicktimes exported out of Apple Final Cut Pro.  I've created a test project with 3 Adobe Photoshop graphics and an H264 video.  Sometimes I can import the video, sometimes Director crashes.  Even on those occasions I've been able to import the video, many times once I save the project I will not be able to re-open it.  I get a "Director has exerienced a fatal error and will close" error.
Things seem to be much more stable with quicktimes encoded in Sorenson 3 or encoded with MP4.  I've even re-encoded the H264 video through Premiere Pro CS4 thinking it might be something out of FCP but still have the same problem.
I have confirmed I have the most up-to-date version of Quicktime (7.6.5) and have re-installed Director 11.5.
Any one else experiencing this?

I am having the same problems. I bought the new version of Director because of the advertised integration with H264, but when I play a cast member from the cast or on the stage I receive a fatal error.

  • Batch Processing problem with Directories

    Hi All!
I am having a problem recording an action for Batch Resizing/Optimizing a large number of Photos.
What I want is to resize about a 1000+ photos, all optimized, but there is a catch!
they are all in separate directories(also in the hundreds!), and as I am delivering them to separate Clients, I would need to preserve the same directory structure after resizing/optimizing, IE its laid out like this:
    John's Folder - 50 Photos
    Jane's Folder - 120 Photos
    Joe's Folder - 75 Photos
    David's Folder - 50 Photos
IE: I cant choose "Save Optimized" and 'include sub directories' and then have the Action output them into a Common directory as that would obviously loose the directory structure, and i would have no way of tracking which photo belonged to whom.
(as Image names are all 'Camera' filenames, ie 013121012.jpg, so I cant use that to identify the different Photo-sets as most of the photos were taken on the same day.)
What I came up with so far was to:
Duplicate all files and the Directory structure as it is, and try to write an action that after processing would just 'Save' and Overwrite files as they are. (IE Resize/Optimize, then save/overwrite all photos and then choose 'Include all Subfolders )
Problem is I cant 'Save Optimized' and overwrite the original file! I couldn't even find a way to set 'Compression settings' for Jpg when I am using the 'SAVE' dialog(that would automatically overwrite the original files). The Jpeg Compression only pops up with 'Save As', but then again that is not useful for overwriting the same file.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!
PS: I am using Photoshop CS3.

The JSP specification doesn't define the mapping used by a JSP
engine to generate a Java package.className from a given
    request.
Oracle JSP takes a simple approach (for a variety of reasons).
Rather then generating a munged/random name, Oracle JSP uses the
full path information in the request. The path information
generates the package name while the classname comes from the
target. As virtual paths within a host are unique this works.
Unfortunately, you have encountered the one limitation of this
approach, namely VP names can contain names that are invalid Java
package or classnames. Names that are all numbers is one case.
Java reserved words is another. Currently, the only way to avoid
this is to change the VP you use to access the JSP so its path
name and target only includes valid Java (package/class) names.

  • H264 Video in Director 11.5 with Windows 7

I have a director movie that loops a quicktime mov file (H264 encoding). The arrow keys move the movie around on the stage. Anytime the movie reaches the edge of the monitor the program crashes.
The director file is in this zip file:
    http://www.jsteinkamp.com/test-off-screen.zip
I have tried this on three different brands of computers, running Windows 7 and they all crash. The same director projector works fine under Windows XP.
    Director version: 11.5 w/ hotfix 1
    QuickTime Player version: 7.6.6
Windows 7 Professional is fully Updated

Were you looking for someone to test other platforms such as Vista?... or are you looking for verification... or a solution?
I'm guessing a solution is not going to be available, but I would recommend constraining the video from going off the monitor if you haven't already added that 'feature' for win7 (you can test the OS easily enough using the platform property).
Anyways, if you can clarify what assistance you are looking for then that'd help.

  • H264 problems and out of synch/choppy

I can code/compress the same timeline in Divx, MP4, and just about any other fromat and have no problems at all.
When I go to code and compress in H264, the video and audio are out of sych, and the picture is choppy. I tried different FPS, key frame rates, bit rates and no go, interlace, progressive and it just doesn't matter
But.....When I reduce the picture size to a very small size upon coding/compression, it is in synch, the h264. Like below 360x240
What is going on? Thank you for your time

Have you run Apple hardware test and memory (Memtest) test to make sure that your RAM is not defective? http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1674664&tstart=0
I would also copy a short video that is causing you problems and try to run it on a different machine just to see where the problem is.

  • Animating problems in Director

    Hi everyone
I have a huge problem when animating sprites (both in
Director and Flash). When I move a sprite in the score it cracks
(like a spoon in a glass of water, every time in a different way
and time). What am I doing wrong? Is it something wrong with my PC
(Penitum 4, 1.270 RAM).I have tried at different pc and it happened
the same. Please help me!!! I am desperate. In Director I draw a
rectangle at the far left of the stage in frame 1. Then, I insert
Keyframe at the score in frame 30 and move the rectangle at the far
right of the stage. When I press play, the rectangle when it moves
from left to right doesn’t stay solid, it cracks!!! Every
time differently. Why is that??? The same happens with photos or
    any other shape.
    Thanks.

  • Transparency  problems in director

    Hi all ,
We are trying to acheive transparency for 3D models. When
using png textures with transparency details we either get 100%
transparency or 0% transparency. semi transparent areas are
converted to 0% transparency. We are using 3dsmax 7.0 to export the
3D models. The inbuilt shockwave player in 3dsMax displays models
with correct transparency details , but when its taken to director
    we are getting transparency problems.
    Any one please help me
How to get correct transparency for 3d models in director ?
    I also require following information.
    1. What version of directx is supported by Adobe director.
    2. Is there a standalone w3d viewer that supports directx
    9.0c .
Thank you for your time and consideration.
    regards
    Avanthika

when you export a model out of max it exports with
transparency on some colors will show up invisible in the preview
    window
but you can use 3dpi in director and turn transparency off or
    lingo but 3dpi is quicker

  • H264 problems

I'm not able to export an H264 movie to another H264 movie in QuickTime Pro. Is this a QT issue?

Not compared to 16 bit 48k.Since I don't use Apple Lossless, I ran a number of tests using Apple 720p trailers as the H.264 source files. In all cases the Apple Lossless audio came out on the order of 650 Kbps. As David indicates and others have inferred, while as you indicate Apple Lossless may be compact compared to uncompressed audio, it is roughly 4 times the typlical AAC 48.0 KHz sampled file which is typically compressed at 160 Kbps (Apple trailers/iTunes normally use 128 Kbps at 44.1 KHz).

  • Synching problems between Director 250 and DMP100

I have tried everything I can think of, but cannot get my 250 and 100 to synch. I get the message that the players are not compatible to synch (?) when trying to synch them from the 1000 touchscreen remote.
I have upgraded firmware on my router (WRT610N), DMP and director (which are running 1.16.1). I have tried putting both in the 5 Ghz band, no luck. Then tried on 2.4 Ghz, same issue. They work fine independently.
    Any ideas?

Got the issue resolved thanks to some guidance from fellow users. The issue was that the 250 was on sw release 1.16.1 and the 100 was on 1.7.3, despite LELA showing both were at 1.16.1. I found this out when I looked at the release level using the Cisco Media Player app on windows, which showed the correct versions of code the players were really running. I was able to synch the players then from the PC interfaces as well as the remote touchscreen interface. Using this to stream iPOD play lists from my docked iPod, which is great. Now if I could only import those play lists into the Cisco Media Player and build and save play lists in Cisco Media Player.....

  • Problem with directories unsolvable?

    Hello everyone -
    I am currently on a Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 running OS 10.4.10.
I recently have had problems burning files onto a DVD and figured I'd give my disk utility a shot. When I try to verify my disk before repairing it (as simply repairing it without verification is not an option) I receive the following message:
"First Aid Failed: Disk Utility stopped verifying "Macintosh HD" becuase the following errors were encountered: The underlying task reported failure on exit."
If it helps? This is what Disk Utility says before the error:
    Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Illegal name
    Illegal name
    Checking multi-linked files.
    Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    Checking Extended Attributes file.
    Checking volume bitmap.
Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
    Checking volume information.
    Invalid volume free block count
(It should be 7820641 instead of 7816997)
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair
So, I tried Disk Warrior, to which I received the following message:
"The directory of the disk "Macintosh HD" cannot be rebuilt. The original directory is too severely damaged. The disk was not modified. (2158, 2179)"
So, I was hoping someone here might be able to assist me in fixing the problems here. I considered doing an Archive and Install or even (God forbid) an Erase and Install. I did read, in the research I did before posting here, that the Archive and Install could actually aggravate and worsen the problem. I am a college student on a very minimal budget looking for an inexpensive fix for this problem. Thank you so much for your assistance!

One trick I learned along the way is that many times the unrepairable errors are very localized and most of the disk is ok.
Did you install or store something just prior to when these errors started occurring? If so, try erasing those files or programs and testing again (backing the files up first, if possible). Sometimes erasing the files and freeing up their space will also remove the corrupted entries in the directory and other system data structures and enable the disk repairs to conclude happily without errors.

  • DIRECTOR 11 PROBLEM + CURSOR + WMV

We are building kiosks for Vista, and have encountered a
    problem with Director 11
Director 11 on XP and Vista:
Problem: cursor always appears over WMVs and MPGs sprites on
    stage
Things tried: Cursor 200, new _cursor.etc syntax tried,
    framescripts moviescripts, behaviours etc.
    within, etc.
I tried a lot, can't seem to program around it.
The system will appear the cursor, everywhere else on stage
    it will go.
Do this some years, it's new.
Tried cursor hiders on Vista and XP. No program will show a
cursor, WM within the projector is the only one overruling.
The cursor is impossible to hide when it is over the video.
Seems like a Director 11 bug.
Anyone have any idea how to get the cursor to dissapear ?
    Or anyone encounter this ?
Does anyone have a short term solution ? Cursor hiders won't
    work:
    - Does anyone know if it is possible in Vista registry to set
the start location of the mouse to for example 0,0
    - Does anyone know if there is a way in Director to set the
mouseh and mousev ? Cannot be set.
    - Does anyone know how to hide the cursor in Director 11 over
    WMVs or MPGs ?

I think this has always been an issue with #windowsMedia
    sprites.
You could use Buddy API's baRestrictCursor() and
    baFreeCursor() to force
the cursor off the WMV sprite while it plays.
Alternatively, since it's a kiosk, you could try the MPEG
    Advance xtra
or another media player xtra that supports WMV

  • Annoying copyPixels problem, please help

    Hi
I have a problem using copyPixels command.
    My task is following:
    1) I have an image castmember with an png imported, that
    contains some
number of image objects (for example 10 letters). This image
    has alpha
    channels
    2) I need to create another image containing just a part of
    this letters,
for example 2,4 and 8 letter
    3) I create new image Object and use a copyPixels command to
    copy the
letters i need from original to destination image
    4) But, here the problem - if I copy the letters on empty
    image (with no
backgroundimage) I get problem with alphachannels - they
    became "broken", I
mean, alpha channels are not more transparent es they shell
    be, but shey are
shown as white (grey) tattered spots under letters
    5) when before copying the letters I copy to thtn new image
    some background
image, and then copy letters - they are shown correct - the
    alphachannelw
    are OK
    6) when I copy a background image, that is smaller then
    letters, then the
part, where copied letter lies over background, is correkt,
    and the part of
letter, copied over empty space is "not beautifull"
I tried to play with parameters of CopyPixels (maskImage,
    maskOffset,
something with extractAlpha, useAlpha) but with no success
Can anyone help me with this
I need just a line of correct lingo-code?
Or is this a problem of Director?
    Thanx in advance

  • Pro*C linker problems

System is Linux Mandrake 6.0 with Oracle 8i, with the 8i patch
    applied.
What a nightmare that install was! Lots of permission problems,
unreadable directories, programs with no execute permission on
    them and so on.
I now have a database up and running, and am trying to get Pro*C
working. The code was written on RedHat 5.2 with Oracle 8.0.5,
and worked fine there, so I know it is not a fundamental code
    problem!
I have patched the pcscfg.cfg file as detailed in the patch FAQ
(with modifications for the slightly different paths under
    Mandrake Linux).
When I compile the Pro*c file, I get many "undefined reference
to 'dbcon'" and "undefined reference to 'ctx'" errors from the
linker. This occurs whether I use a pre-defined list of specific
libraries in my own Makefile, or if I use the standard
demo_proc.mk makefile. I have used nm(1) on every place I can
think of, to try to find the required library/object, but to no
    avail.
I appreciate that Oracle have so far only certified Oracle for
Linux against Redhat 6.0, but surely Mandrake can't be THAT
    different ;-)
Does anybody have any ideas, known problems etc? I REALLY HOPE
that I don't have to switch to Redhat as the only solution - no
problem with Redhat, it would just require a tedious and
complicated system rebuild, which I don't have the time to do :-(
    TIA

  • Director 11 or MX 2004?

I am having a bunch of problems with Director 11.
Should I just go back to MX 2004 - the changes don't seem to

And where can I find a full list of changes?

    > If you don't need to natively support Intel Macs under

Are you sure that the new version is required for that?
From what I've checked, even when publishing with dir04, the
    browsers seem
to be using the new engine for playback, if the new sw
    version is installed.
Haven't checked this with OSX, since when developing, I'm
    usually in front
of a w2k-like theme XP machine.
But, I can't remember having any issues with shockwave
    content on intelMac -
well, except with havok movies.. Then again, didn't spend too
    much time on
osx testing or even browsing, lately.
Btw, if the new engine is used automatically, existing
    non-english content
that expect to get extended ascii codes when using the
    chartonum() function
    will have serious issues.
