H264 Video in Director 11.5 with Windows 7

I have a director movie that loops a quicktime mov file (H264 encoding). The arrow keys move the movie around on the stage. Anytime the movie reaches the edge of the monitor the program crashes.
The director file is in this zip file:
http://www.jsteinkamp.com/test-off-screen.zip
I have tried this on three different brands of computers, running Windows 7 and they all crash. The same director projector works fine under Windows XP.
Director version: 11.5 w/ hotfix 1
QuickTime Player version: 7.6.6
Windows 7 Professional is fully Updated

Were you looking for someone to test other platforms such as Vista?... or are you looking for verification... or a solution?
I'm guessing a solution is not going to be available, but I would recommend constraining the video from going off the monitor if you haven't already added that 'feature' for win7 (you can test the OS easily enough using the platform property).
Anyways, if you can clarify what assistance you are looking for then that'd help.

  • Old JVC Video camera, driver only compatible with windows.

I have an old JVC camera, i would like to transfer the video which is on mini DV cassette via usb to my macbook pro however the device is not recognised and the driver is only compatible with windows.

I have an old JVC camera, i would like to transfer the video which is on mini DV cassette
It would help if you give us the exact model JVC camcorder you have.
That said, nearly all miniDV camcorders (including JVC miniDV cams) transfer video via Firewire (aka iLink or IEEE 1394), not USB.   And no drivers are required, at least not on a Mac.  If you have a more recent Mac that has a Thunderbolt port (no Firewire port), you can use an Apple Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter to connect your camcorder to your Mac (although you may also need a 4-pin to 9-pin FW cable).
Also, on miniDV camcorders that have both Firewire and USB connections, the USB connection is almost exclusively reserved for transferring still photos from the memory card in the camcorder, not video from the miniDV cassettes.

The above happens after I click to convert video frames to layers and select a video. I've tried with 480p and 720p mp4 videos. I have Quicktime 7.7.4 installed, not sure what is going wrong!
    I have Windows 8.1 64-bit. AMD-6300 and Nvidia 760; not sure if that's relevant.

  • Video Out in Boot Camp with Windows XP

Sorry, this is my first help request... i hope i write in a correct section.
I installed Windows XP SP2 with boot camp in my Mac Book Pro. I have the third part MiniDisplay Port to HDMI adapter with audio. I use it for projector. I always use it without problems.
With Windows XP i can't use it... i don't know why. The adapter is power off (led is off) and i don't know what i have to do for use second monitor in woindows XP.
I know about FN+F5 in windows... but in Mac F5 is keyboard light and if i set Functions keys as normal key (from Boot Camp Options) F5 is refresh key and fn+F5 is the keyboard light.
So what i have to do?
    Thaks
    Ale

Yes, XP will be able to detect the expansion card if you download the appropriate drivers online. When bootcamp was first starting... this article circulated http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305401... summary, you should remove the fiber channel card before bootcamping. Since then the software has gone through the proper modifications that you can just plug the card in, boot into windows, and download the LSi driver for XP.
So you'll have no problem setting this up.

  • V570 video drivers don't work with Windows 7 Home Premium 64

Yesterday I bought a V570 notebook, with an addition Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT OEM, since the operating system on it was Free Dos.
I've installed Windows and started to install the drivers from the disk that came with notebook. After I've installed the Intel VGA driver, on boot I got a bluescreen, then the notebook just started to restart. I couldn't get a restore so I had to reinstall windows again. After that I've tryed to use the drivers from the lenovo page, from windows update, all the same result.
So I've downloaded an illegal copy of windows 7 ultimate, just to test it out, and guess what, IT WORKES PERFECTLY FINE! Now I can't and won't use that windows, this is why I paid for an original one, so please someone tell me what can I do to make it work! I was up until 4:15 AM and coulnd't find an answer. There is a national holliday today in Romania, so the guys from the call center are not working today.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I finnaly resolved it. If anyone else has this issue, here is what you do:
    1. install all drivers from the CD, except the ones related to the graphics card
    2. install all Windows Updates, except the ones related to the graphics card. You will have to reboot a couple of times, and keep installing until the only updates that remain are related to the graphics card.
    3. install the video drivers from the CD

  • Videos won't play properly with Windows Vista

    Hi there,
I recently installed iTunes on my new computer, which is running Windows Vista Home Premium. After transferring my library over I tried to play a video to test it out, but found that the videos were all extremely choppy. I installed new video drivers for my video card (Nvidia 8800 GT), made sure I had the latest version of iTunes (7.2.0.35) and went through most of the steps in this troubleshooting article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305392
I didn't perform the last two steps (Modify your System Drive Configuration and Disable Readyboost) because I didn't see "the IDE bus that contains your hard drive" and am not using a flash-based drive.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • H264 problems in Director 11.5

Has anyone had any problems using H264 video in Director 11.5?  I am using H264 quicktimes exported out of Apple Final Cut Pro.  I've created a test project with 3 Adobe Photoshop graphics and an H264 video.  Sometimes I can import the video, sometimes Director crashes.  Even on those occasions I've been able to import the video, many times once I save the project I will not be able to re-open it.  I get a "Director has exerienced a fatal error and will close" error.
Things seem to be much more stable with quicktimes encoded in Sorenson 3 or encoded with MP4.  I've even re-encoded the H264 video through Premiere Pro CS4 thinking it might be something out of FCP but still have the same problem.
I have confirmed I have the most up-to-date version of Quicktime (7.6.5) and have re-installed Director 11.5.
    Any one else experiencing this?

  • Bug ? AAC / H264 video gets out of sync

    ello,
we're using Wowza for live TV broadcasting. For now the service isn't publicly released (it will be a subscriber-only TV) but it will be in the next day.
    Here is our setup:
    - PlaylistBroadcaster, part of the Darwin Streaming Server distribution, reads a playlist of files and forwards them through RTP/RTCP to WMS. The files are:
Hinted MP4 container (with "Server optimization")
    768 kbps, 25 fps, 720x576 H264 video
    128 kbps stereo AAC-HE audio
    (encoded from Final Cut Pro)
    - A custom module written in Ruby generates .replacelist files to dynamically generate the playlist.
    - WMS configured in live-rtp mode streams the thing to flash clients.
All this is being run on the same server (Gentoo Linux), which has quite low load when streaming (something like 0.06 on a bi-processor system).
All this is perfectly in sync when the files are read locally. It is also in sync if I watch with the "live" player shipped with Wowza or with my own, home-made player and do not leave the flash window or tab.
However, if I drop focus for the video window, like if I switch a Firefox tab, Safari tab, or press alt-tab and do something else, and then come back a bit later the video is out of sync (late) with the audio.
This happens only on this live streaming player, not on YouTube.
This night I have been running a test: I left the video running all night keeping focus on the window. After a 8 hour run, the video was still totally in sync so that's not a problem on the DSS side.
I then tried to drop focus and come back a minute or two later, on the video, and there's a slight offset, between 400ms and 2s. The audio is in advance, this is an invariant parameter: the video is never in advance.
So I'm wondering if that's a problem with Flash Player: obviously this is not a problem with Wowza or Darwin Streaming Server since it stays in sync. Could it be due to Flash hardware acceleration or something ? Any hints about H264 video getting out of sync with audio when Flash has not the focus, freezes for a second, and other such events ?
We are working on Adobe Flash CS4, the video is encoded with Final Cut Pro.

    Is it 50p or 50i?
What make.model canera shot the footage?
Was the audio recorded to the camera or by a separate recorder?

  • IPod Nano Video with Windows Movie Maker

I found this page by Apple that explains how to use video from the 5G iPod Nano, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3837
But, I cannot find Windows Movie Maker V2.5, and V2.1 with Windows XP will not import the video from the iPod Nano. Anybody have any ideas on how to solve this? (Besides buying a Mac...)
Also, Windows Media Player 11 will not play the video created with the 5G iPod Nano either.

You can use the AVS Video Editing software to import MPEG-4 Movie files in the same way you'd import .avi files into Windows Movie Maker. Also, the AVS Video Editor will allow you to import iTunes .mp4 audio files and incorporate them into your soundtrack. If you still want to use Windows Movie Maker for your video editing you can also use video conversion software from the same company, i.e. AVS Video Converter 6, to convert from MPEG-4 into .avi or .wmv format. I've found converting to .wmv to be considerably slower than converting to .avi though. Here's a link to the AVS video software offerings below. BTW, the AVS Video Editor can be used for free, while there's a charge for the Converter.
    * As always, exercise caution when using Shareware. So far my own experience has been good.

  • Problem exporting Premiere Pro CS5.5 projects with still photos and h264 video

I'm a longtime Final Cut Pro user and evaluating Premiere Pro for my workplace before making the switch. I have been running into several problems when I try to export raw h264 video from a Canon 5D combined with still images on a Macbook Pro. Either I receive an error in Premiere Pro saying, "Error compiling movie. Unknown error." or Adobe Media Encoder appears to continue exporting (the time elapsed bar continues to move) even though the time remaining stays frozen once it hits a photo it doesn't like. It's not always the same photo.
I've spent several days trying to troubleshoot the issue, including batch resizing all photos to 1920 wide (to match the video settings), and it hasn't work. The sequence is currently set to render in ProRes 422. I've also tried HDV 1080p30 and MPEG-4. I cannot find any consistency with the errors. Occasionally an export will work, but every couple still photos will look like green static. I've also tried batch converting the photos in Photoshop to PNG and GIF without any luck. I'd include my default export settings but I've pretty much tried it all. I'm just trying to figure out what's causing the error since the message is very vague.
    Couple other notes:
There's plenty hard drive space available for export
I can export the DSLR video (h264, 1080p30) without still photos no problem
I can edit the same still photos and video in Final Cut with no problem
I have the same problem with auto-save on and off
I tried re-installing production premium, deleting the preference files and cleaning the media cache - no luck. I also tried exporting under a different user account and it wouldn't work.
This is driving absolutely crazy. I'm affraid to use PP on deadline because I don't see any issues until it's time to export. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    - McKenna

Thanks Todd. Your questions were actually very helpful. I'm using a Macbook Pro with an Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics card. I'm running OS 10.6.8 and have the latest updates installed.
When I disabled the GPU acceleration, I was able to render and export without a problem. The problem only occured when using the GPU acceleration and mixing h264 with still photos. It also affected both rendered previews and the final export. I'm assuming its a support issue with the graphics cards, but it would be great if you had any other ideas. I appreciate your help.

  • Answer to my question: Why can I not use Premiere Elements 12 on my PC with WIndows 8.1 when the video is done with the same software on a PC with Windows 7?

i got an answer to use archive function from Mr. Romano:
I did as you said, but it did not work, I get the dummy video with no real video.
I had no menu yet on the video.
What came in my mind when I read your e-mail, on one PC is WIndows 8.1 64 bit and on the other Windows 7 32 bit.
When I load the videos from the camrecorder (tape) with Premiere Elements without doing something, I can switch to the other PC and it works.

How did you go about transferring the Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 7 64 bit to Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Therein is what I believe is your problem. You in all likelihood do not have a codec problem of any kind, rather Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 8.1 64 bit with disconnect between it source media and the project file. Here is how it goes.
When you import a file into Premiere Elements project, what you have in Premiere Elements is a copy of the original which is still at its hard drive save location. But the project must trace back to that original on its hard drive save location.
You may have the project.prel (project file) opening in Premiere Elements 12 on the second computer, but what I suspect to be the case is that you do not have the project media on that second computer.
If so....On the first computer, archive the project with File Menu/Project Archiver and its Copy Project option. Transfer the resulting saved Copied Folder to a USB Flash Drive which will be used to transfer the Copied Folder to the second computer. In the second computer, open the Copied Folder, right click the project.prel file in the Copied Folder, select Open With, and then Premiere Elements 12.
Did you set up disc menu in the Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 64 bit project?
Please review and consider the above and let us know if any or all of that applies to your situation.
    Thank you.

I have a large video on my ipad that I need to transfer to my PC (a window 7).  I could also use a windows 8 if that would help.  But all of the applications I have tried do not see this large video (52 mins) even though they transfer smaller videos fine.  The ipad will not let me trim the video, saying it is too large.  This is true even though I only want to trim the original, and not create a new video.  (Actually it refuses before it gets to the choice of creating something new or just eliminating something from the original).  I have been to an Apple store, but the people there only could recommend that I try some alternate applications to do the transfer (Kodak EasyShare).  I don't have much faith this will work.  I think I have this application on an old PC, and it is not something I want on my new computers.
Is it possibled the size of this video just violates the transfer formats for files over USB?  If so, I will just delete the video and move on.  But the video is really something I wanted to save.  I would be happy to eliminate most of the video, but the ipad will not let me trim it.
I also tried to import the video with Windows Moviemaker (free with W7).  It also does not see this file, but works fine on the other videos on the ipad.
