H420 Network Speed Stuck at 100mps on 1gps network

I have a Lenovo H420 with a 1gbs network card.  I believe the NIC is an Intel 82579v.  I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x86.  I have not updated anything other than the operating system.  I did this insure compatibility with some equipment that doesn't support Windows 64 bit system.
My H420 will only operate at 100mps.  All my other computers on the network operate at 1gps, with the exception of this one.
How can I fix this?

Have you checked in the Network Cards settings and tried forcing it to run 1GB Full Duplex?
Also an old or slow Cat cable can do this to. Try a different cable out and see.
Best speed on gigabit can be reached with CAT5e and/or CAT6.
Hope this helps.

  • BB speed stuck at c. 1Mbps after reconnection

I would be very grateful for any help in restoring my previous download speed of 2.5–3Mbps.
My HomeHub2 had to be switched off several times in early March because of electrical work in the house. However, it has now been reconnected and powered for over 10 days. On reconnection the download speed was initially <1Mbps, presumably because BT's Dynamic Line Management regarded the line or connection as unstable. Within a few days, download speed crept up it 1.2Mpbs and has been stuck there for the last week.
Today's data from the HomeHub are pasted below. Note that the connection time is shown as less than 2 minutes. That is because, without me doing anything to the hub other than opening up the manager in the browser window, it decided to reboot!

Your connection speed is low, it should be about 3424Kbs, but something is restricting the available bandwidth, as your noise margin is low, for your connection speed.
Which type of master socket do you have?
    One of these
    Or one of these

  • Broadband speed stuck at 2mb/s

    Hi,
Hoping I can get this problem sorted, have tried customer services and got no where! Slightly frustrated by the problem now.
    Test results from speedtester.bt.com
Download speed achieved during the test was - 1.84 Mbps For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps. Additional Information: Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM) IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps
my router connects at 8mb but only get around 2mb when downloading
seems obvious to me my ip profile is stuck on 2mb (and has been for months)
Router is plugged straight into main(only) phone socket via adsl filter.
have tried different  phone cables, asdl filter, router, network cables & computer, same results (changed over a month ago).
Customer services told me my ip profile was not 2mb but 7mb and never did anything other than try to tell me it was my equipment at fault.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • How do I get Ethernet Link Speed stuck at 10 Mbit/s to 100?

I've 100 Mps Internet service.  My iMac limits ethernet to 10 mps, although the specs say it should be capable of at least 100 mps.  A PC connected to the same Time Capsule gets 100 mps.  My network utility claims the link speed is only 10.  If I try to correct the speed manually, it claims the ethernet cord is not plugged in.  I'm using CAT 5e cord.  How can I fix this?
    iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; OS X 10.8.1

Thanks!  I've switched the cords to no effect. I fear the Ethernet port (which I've never use before) must be bad.
Any idea on how I can fix this?

  • Broadband speed stuck at 0.28Mbps

I recently moved from Orange broadband to BT broadband as my Orange broadband speed was unusable at 0.13Mbps. BT said they would gurantee a minimum speed of 2Mbps - however since joining BT my speed has consistently been 0.28Mbps. Fault reporting doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.
After looking at the posts on this forum I am beginning to get a (murky) view of what ADSL is about. I include a recent report from my home hub 3. The hub is connected directly to the internal socket on the master socket box. Although the speed is set low the hub never seems to achieve a connection time of more than a few hours. I have also done a quiet line test - the line is very crackly. Is it possible that the poor speed and frequent loss of synch is due to a bad line to the exchange? It is also dawning on me that the poor speeds date from a period of very heavy rain that we had in early July which resulted in a lot of flooding in this area.
Any comments or advice will be much appreciated.

    Keith,
Thanks for the reply confirming that my speed problem could be due to a noisy line.
Do I report this using the phone fault number (0800800151) rather than the broadband number (which I have had very little success with)?
    Many thanks
If you are 100% sure that the noise is still there when the home hub is turned off, and you have run through the self help checks on this pageFixing phone faults
Then you can report it online as a noisy phone line  here   Reporting Phone Faults
You can call 0800 800 151 if you prefer, but do not mention broadband, or it could end up in the wrong queue.

  • Broadband speed stuck at 0.1mbs

I had some issues with line noise following a thunderstorm.  It caused a very noisy line which I isolated to an extension socket in the house.  I have disconnected this socket and the phone and broadband all seem to be working fine now.  However, my download speed is just 0.1mbs rather rhan the normal 5mbs.  I have left this for three days hoping that speed will increase, but, it doesn't seem to be getting any better.  Line stats below.  It looks OK to me but is still slow.  I have heard of 'stuck IP profiles' which seems to fit with what I have.  Any ideas?

  • [G505s] Clock speeds stuck at 2.1ghz since BIOS 2.05 update

    I have a Lenovo G505s with an A10-5750M APU
and since the BIOS upgrade from earlier this year (link to BIOS update)
my clock speed has not gone over 2.1ghz. During BIOS 2.03 my laptop
was able to reach 3.1ghz stable after power switched to the adapter
instead of battery, but now during BIOS 2.05 my processor clock speed
has been stuck (at 2.1ghz) and doesn not change with power plans of either
Windows 8 or Lenovos Energy Management Tool. Is any one else experiencing
this issue and/or have a workaround for this problem?
Thank you for your time and hope to hear from the community.

Replace current bios download link with the correct filename of needed bios.
    83cn33ww.exe is v2.03
    83cn32ww.exe is v2.02
I often wonder why either a good question or concern is often overlooked on these forums.  Maybe this is not a popular model in the States?  Where are all the self proclaimed computer experts that seem to post all over the internet?  How about Lenovo Support Staff?  Guess it's a little early in the evening to be so critical, but I thought I would pass on this nugget of knowledge, especially considering the bios downgrade helped.

  • Re: helix CPU speed stuck at low clock speed

Admin edit - Reorganizing this thread slightly as we are actively investigating the symptoms being discussed here.  Several different low end clock speeds of 600-800mhz are being reported capped under a variety of circumstances - sometimes cold boot, sometimes after suspend / resume or dock / undock
    motku wrote:
Same here (helix ci7), after suspend and wakeup when CPU slows down ist get stuck at 750MHz and dose not recover untill reboot.
Before the BIOS update I could unplug the AC adapter and work with full speed on battery.

    Mark, theres more.
I found a "pseudo  workaround" of this problem and hope this could lead to the real workaround.
What helped - installing win7, lenovo power manager, change power plan to other and change back to previous)
I tried to do some research and what i found:
In normal Lenovo power manager wheres 2 options in power plan:
System perfomance (Maximum turbo, Turbo, Balanced, Low) (lets call it PERF) and Optimise fan control to (Maximize perfomance, Balance all parameters) (lets call it FCNTL.
In theory FCNTL must control only fans, like table of data cpu temperature/fan speed. But in reality it affects CPU speed.
Only way to make PC always select speed from lowest to highest is to set PERF=Maximum turbo or Turbo, FCNTL=Maximize perfomance.
Lets go through options how they really works in practice:
    PERF
Maximum turbo and Turbo are equal, means highest speed for CPU with turbo boost. The level of turbo bust is always maximum, Turbo didnt mean "slow turbo boost".
Low - cpu always at lowest speed 800mhz - thats ok.
Balanced - this option works a little crazy. In some situations it means "maximum cpu till 63C", in some situations it means "lowest speed, temperature doesnt matter. Why is it working in different ways but in same settings i dont know.
In theory Balance is something like "from lowest cpu speed till normal cpu speed, no turbo boost", but it doesnt work like that at all.
    FCNTL
Maximize perfomance - in theory it must be "try to keep CPU on lowest temp when high load"
In practice its like "Balanced in PERF" - logic is unknown.
Balanced - the same, logic is unknown.
Unknown really means, that when i, for example, setup  PERF=Maximum turbo or turbo and FCNTL to Balanced, sometimes it works in full speed and sometimes not.
Maybe there is logic, but it tottaly unknown to users.
The bad thing is that theres no way i can set mode "always run cpu from lowest speed till highest speed without turbo boost, 800-1800mhz".
By the way, there is some error in Lenovo power manager - when i change options in power plan and click "apply", sometimes they a apply, and sometimes not. If not, i need to select other power plan, and then select the needed one back.
Now about how this all can happend. I'm not shure that i'm right, but logically it is:
In Lenovo power manager theres option called "Optimise fan control to". And, there is NO such option in real windows power plan, so, it can be only changed through Lenovo power manager. As i see, this option affects maximum cpu speed. So, lets say, if this option is "damaged" some way, theres no way it can be fixed in windows 8, because Lenovo power manager for windows 8 has too few options, and native windows power plan editor doesnt have this option at all. So, when i done "something" in Lenovo power manager for windows 8, it changed that setting and all ruined.
Sorry for my bad english once more, hope you can understand what am i trying to say. Looks like we have 1) an error in power manager for win8 and 2) incorrect power option logic, or "specific" logic without a manual.
The strange thing, that in BIOS we have this options too. But changes in BIOS doesnt affect this at all.
P.S. by the way, when i got my helix, dock battery was having "wear level" = 1%. Now, after 6 days (battery info 5 cycles) it has "wear level" = 2%. Is it normal, or battery is bad?

There was a problem in my area a couple of days ago (01964), followed the instruction to restart the router but my connection is stuck at just 0.48mb (was usually around 6.8mb).

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods  Your post does not go to BT
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Speed stuck at 2Mb

I have had an ongoing issue with poor speeds since moving house in November. I have called the tech helpline several times and have jumped through evey hoop under the sun!! Getting very hacked off now to say the least.
I am getting a constant speed of 1.83 mbs down and 0.36 mbs up. After having a look about on the forums it would seem that my IP profile could be stuck at 2.
Any suggestions on what to do to get this fixed? I am sick of calling and getting fobbed off by someone on the other side of the world who tells me that they have tested the line and I should be getting 8mbs.
I'm on the brink of calling the complaints department to tell them I am moving provider.

  • GT735 fan speed stuck at 30% under XP SP3 - crashes in games

    Good day.
XP SP3 appears to not let the fan speed be adjusted according to the thermals, leading to overheating and BSODs pointing to
driver deadlocks in ati2dvag in graphically-intensive games.
Even such an old game as Deus Ex crashed once, whereas things like warcraft 3 tft, even on minimal settings, crash after about 10 minutes of gaming.
Neither the fan noise, nor GPU-Z readings (it has a file logging facility) indicate fan speed variation.
Latest, hacked up (for M88 support) ATI desktop drivers didn't change the situation.
Neither there appear to be any utility for manual fan speed adjustment for the SB700 southbridge -- the AMD's own
Overdrive utility is useless in this regard. Other things tried were: SpeedFan, CPUCool, the Linux kernel and Linux's standalone lm-sensors.
Update: it was ati2dvag, not ATI2Diag.exe

Quote from: Bas on 05-February-09, 18:02:55
This is not a desktop machine, you should let the laptop control the speeds of the fan.
And you also should use the MSI drivers as they are adjusted to the machine.
What on earth are you trying to do? Game and make the laptop silent?
I wish the laptop controlled the speed of the fan, but it doesn't -- which is the entire issue.
