H470 carriage will not move

H470 printer carriage has stalled and will NOT move no matter how many times reset.   I took it to a HP authorized repair service, paid $25 for them to look at it.   They called back and said it had so many things wrong that it would take $500 in parts to repair.   I don't believe it --- it worked perfectly until this stall issue.   I see that  this stall problem is a common issue, but don't see where anyone has gotten a fix or even knows what part will fix it.    If anyone has gotten their repairs, please share info with part or repair service.   I love this printer and want it to work!

Sorry to hear that the carriage is stuck on your printer. Because of the age of the printer and the out of warranty status, I suggest that you attempt to pull that carriage over by hand. Please disconnect the power cable before you make the attempt.

  • The print carriage will not move even after the paper jam has been cleared

I had a paper jam this morning and cleared it out completely.  I keep getting a message on my HP ENVY 4500 that says the print carriage cannot move.  Open the ink cartridge access door, clear any paper jam or obstruction, ensure ink cartridge levers are lower and snapped.

Try to move it manually. Unplug it from the back. Leave it out for 30 seconds and plug it back in.
Does it move freely, when you try to move it on your own?

  • Printhead will not move on officejet 6500

Used the printer this morning to print a b/w copy.  It worked fine.  Later in the day wife tried to print a copy and error message said there was a paper jam.  We have done all the steps to check for paper jams to no avail.  The print head is locked in the right position and will not move to the center.  Any suggestions?

    HI,
Unplug the power cord then manually moved the carriage to the far left side of the  printer...

  • G85 printhead will not move or reset

I cleaned the color cartridge but when I closed the door I got a message "Open door and clear carriage jam and then press Enter"
I opened the door again but nothing seems amis.  When I press Enter the maching makes a growling grinding noise but the carriage does not move to center.  It just makes a bad noise for a few seconds and then I get the same message again.
I put this up on http://daveswebsites.weebly.com/g85.html if you will take a look at the problem.
    Thanks,
    Dave

The troubleshooting steps in this document may help resolve the carriage jam issue.  Also make sure both cartridges latches are down (latched).

  • In Thunderbird while trying to move conversation results to an archive folder; if some of the results are already in the folder it will not move any.

Hi. I often use the conversation search option when archiving my emails from inbox. I find this a very useful method of finding trails where I and multiple people have responded to each other. However If I have already moved one or more of these emails into the archive folder and select all to move, Thunderbird will not move any. I then need to individually select those that need to be moved.
Although not a major issue I use this regularly and often come across the problem. a recent fix which allows location tab to remain on in search helps but does not resolve this issue. A slightly annoying problem and I was wondering if any one else has this issue. Also is anyone looking into a solution?

FCPx answer: At least the answer that worked for me...
I had the same problem, as I believe many others had.
In my case the problem was with one of OSX Mavericks' new features: APP NAP.
It looks like this is ON by DEFAULT for ALL Applications and that FCPx, or Compressor for that matter, will not work if this is enabled on them.
I just disabled App Napp on FCPx and now it works, again, like a charm.
This is how you disable App Nap: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57612009-263/how-to-disable-app-nap-in-os-x -mavericks/
    I hope this helps,

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw makes horrible noise and will not move past initializing

Makes horrible noise and will not move past initializing.

    Hi @HealthITLadyRed,
I read your post and see that the printer is making noise and is stuck initializing. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
I have provided some steps to try to see if we can resolve this issue.
Check and remove any packaging material inside the printer and toner.
Disconnect the USB/Network/FAX and power the printer on Standalone.
Do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
If the issue persists, perform a power drain by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer and keeping the power button pressed for 30 seconds and in case of a power switch keep the switch in ON position for 30 seconds before reconnecting the power chord.
Update the printer's firmware by a USB connection. Software and Drivers.
Select Option 2 and wait for the page to load and then select the link for firmware. This resolved the previous posters issue.
I can send a private message with another step to try.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
What happened prior to this issue? (paper jam, changed toner) Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Is this a new printer?

The update to iOS 7 is frozen at the Terms and Conditions page and will not move, no matter what I click on.  I cannot access my iPad as it is frozen on this screen.  How do I remedy this nightmare?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Then try updating the software again.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • HT1212 I have no idea why suddenly my iPhone5 will not move past the Password screen; also, a voice describes each button I touch, and ends with "screen locked" (not "phone locked").

I have no idea why my iPhone5 suddenly will not move past the PW screen; a "voice" identifies each button touched (the Slide button, for example) or the PW buttons, and then ends with "screen locked" (not phone locked).

I believe you have Voice Over on:
You have to tap, then double-tap to select the numbers to enter your passcode.
    Then:
    Press Home.
    Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
    Tap General. Then double-tap General.
Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.
    Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.
    Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
Tap "On" next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.

Magic Mouse cursor will not move.  Scroll works. right click works replaced batteries

I'm so sorry but I overlooked your response in the previous post.
    I think you there are two options to try.     One;
Reset the SMC (Systems management control)      https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201295 ....
Two: You may have a problem with interference which could be from a TV set, particularly one of the new smart TVs, anything electronic you've either moved into the room or changed its position.   That could include another mouse or trackpad.
    Again, sorry.
