H61I-E35 (B3) :BIOS Updating ________ File not Found

Hello.
Yesterday I was flashing my BIOS from Version    5.2 to Version    6.0.
I have downloaded 7677v60.zip file, extracted it to F:\7677v60\E7677v60 (my usb stick)
I have used front USB port.
I have launched E7677v60.exe from F:\7677v60\E7677v60 folder and wait installation to complete. There were notification (Do not unplug your USB stick)
Windows where restarted, then computer started and after some time (approximately 5 - 7 seconds) computer restarted.
After second start, I have a message: BIOS  Updating ________________ File not found.
I have tried to shutdown, put my usb stick in rear ports, but it make nothing.
So, please help, how to Update or How to recover my BIOS on motherboard?
And, why this appeared ( I don't unplugged my USB stick all the time of setup and restart)?

  • H61I-E35 (B3) BIOS Update from 5+ to 6 version.

    Hello,
    1. When I firstly wanted to Upgrade from 5.2 to Version 6.0 that was on 01.06.2012 I was FAILED.
I have putted USB stick in Front USB port (on my case) and launched EXE file from USB FLash and got:
BIOS Updating ________ File not Found Message.
I went to my Service and they reflash bios on this M/B to 5.2 version.
For Now I have 5.2 BIOS version on my Mobo.
You can see details in this topic: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=159364.msg1169080#msg1169080
    2. Now I want to buy Ivy Bridge processor for my PC.
I need to upgrade my 5.2 version to 6.3 located in http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H61I-E35--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS
    So here is my questions:
2.1 Please could you provide me steps to complete this action?
3.1.As I see for now, I can Download bios (exe file) put in root directory on flash (FLAS INSERTED INTO BACK!! NOT FRONT!!! USB port)
and launch exe and after reboot Bios will be updated.
3.2. Second variant is to use https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161145.msg1181017#msg1181017 described method
So, please advice, how to flash my mobo!!
    Thanks in advance!

There are several ways to update.
You can use the MSI package:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H61I-E35--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS
Look for the SOP in the description how to use the utility.
Safer way is to use the Forum Flasher: >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Use the attached archive and use mode 1 of the flasher. Do not extract the archive.

  • SPA504g provisioning, firmare update failure, file not found.

    Hello all,
I am provisioning SPA504g phones using a tftp server and it works well, however there is something that annoys me. I have the phones doing firmware updates with the update rule: tftp://sip.XXXXXXXXX.net/Cisco/spa$PSN/Firmware/from-$SWVER/spa$PSN.bin and they do come in and attempt to collect that file however when they are up to date (as they are all now on 7.5.5b) and therefore there is no file for them to collect, the phone considers this to be an upgrade failure and so it retries after the "Upgrade Error Retry Delay" time (default 2 mins) instead of just considering this to be no upgrade available. This means every 2 mins the screen flashes the UPGRADING FIRMWARE message briefly.
I could just raise that timeout to a day, but I is there a better way of fixing this?
    Kevin

As long as you configured the firmware URL, you are claiming there IS firmware available.
    So, either
    1. make firmware to be available. Even it is the same version. Phone will fetch it one time, it will recognize it's the same, then will not fetch it again as long as the firmware URL will not change.
    2. it's nice trick to use $SWVER in URL. Use the similar trick even for the profile URL. Make sure the Upgrade Enable is set to "No" if phone run newest firmware. You may extract Upgrade Enable option to be only option in Profile Rule B file so the $SWVER bias will apply to Profile Rule B only.
I is there a better way of fixing this
Yes, in my humble opinion. Use HTTP server instead of TFTP. Even simple PHP script will allow you to make not only upgrade logic, but more complex magic according yours wishes. You may mix tftp configuration with http style configuration as well - there are four independent profile rule options configurable. Just be careful, particular option could not be in two or more profiles.
Mark thread as answered if it answered your question. It will help others to found solutions.

Hi Manish , thanks for the reply
So I switched back to 8.6.2SU2 and then re ran the Upgrade.Switched back to 10.5 and waited. It took about 30 mins but eventually everything came up.Rebooted again to check , and it came up much quicker so that seems to be the way it is.
"Did you take a backup of the newly upgraded 10.5 and then edit its hardware settings followed by a restore?"
Glad you bought this up as I understand that the reason behind this is to align the partitions.I checked my 8.6.2 before istarted the upgraded, using the TAC approved method which said they were aligned
After the upgrade 10.5 reported the partitions aligned. The OVA readme talks about changing the OS NIC etc , which I did .Are there other reasons why I would now need to do a back and restore ? if my partitions are aligned?

  • H61MU-E35 (B3) Updating BIOS....File Not Found Error

I have MSI H61MU-E35 (B3) Motherboard with Intel i3 CPU.
I downloaded latest BIOS File  7680vC3.zip (on web page it's says Version: 12.3 from  -> -www.msi.com/support/mb/H61MUE35_B3.html#down-bios
Using Windows XP OS  From 7680vC3.zip => Extracted E7680vC3.exe  => Placed on USB Drive (I did not format USB Pendrive, and used by just making it empty by deleting files) ==>  Ran this exe file on the computer where this motherboard is....
Inside Windows XP, when BIOS Update process started, In a green window, it shown me current BIOS old version and  New Version side by side.  (I did not given much attention to notedown from which number to which number it's updating).
In Windows XP after BIOS Process completed, it restarted computer (I kept USB File as it in the computer as I had read that, I have to keep USB in computer after restart).
When computer restarted...nothing came on the screen and just blank screen for long time and on the right side on screen bottom corner only letter like: A2 stayed for long long time.  I waited for 15 minutes but nothing was happening except blank screen...
So, I restarted computer....and kept USB as it is in the computer....but Nothing comes on the screen...
After I concluded that, something is wrong, to resolve the issue...
--- What Try and Experiments I have done  ----------------------------------------------------------------
    (1) I placed Restarted computer without USB: and Message comes on the screen is:
BIOS Update is not yet completed, please insert the USB pen drive  and reset system.
    (2) I refered some forums, and also contacted MSI Support. As suggested, I formatted USB Drive with FAT32 and placed  E7680IMS.C30  file (only one file) on USB placed in computer and started computer.. Now Message is coming:
    Updating BIOS...... File Not Found..
Note that: E7680IMS.C30  File was given to me by MSI Support Staff as I did not kept Original files during formatting USB PenDrive.
But computer is not looking for .C30 Rom File, Computer is looking for .BIN File
    (3) I have remove the battery and waited for 5 min. and placed again, to reset BIOS, but not difference on result or on message...
    Renamed: file E7680IMS.C30 to EIVB.BIN
Result: Just Blank Screen with A2 text on right side bottom corner, No other message
In some other same issue post, they recommand to change ROM File name to: EIVB.BIN which worked for others, so I also tried and renamed: file E7680IMS.C30 to EIVB.BIN, in this case, I was able recreate original Issue:  When computer boots, Screen stays completely Blank, and on the right side bottom corner, only 2 digit tect comes is: A2. Computer does not give any other message and nothing happens...even I waited for 30 minutes...
Also, by looking at USB Pendrive light, I can tell that, motherboard is reading file on the Pen Drive...
    Renamed: file E7680IMS.C30 to E7680IMS.BIN
Result: Message comes on the screen: Updating BIOS...... File Not Found..
    (5) What I am thinking is:  When motherboard power-ups, it's giving me two different type of Valid message based on if USB is in the computer or not, based on if file name is .BIN or not, so I believe motherboard is still not dead and there are hope to feed the file which motherboard is looking for. But issue how to find what specific file which it's looking for... Even sometime I have seen at screen right side bottom area, 2 Digit numbers are changing just like system is doing internal healthcheck before booting up...
    (6) Note that, I would like to put old version file on USB to feed, but one of the biggest issue with MSI is, once you download EXE from their website, to Extract EXE file content it needs to be run on the same motherboard computer, so in my case, if your motherboard is not in bootable cituation then you can not extract any other BIOS File to try...
Please help me...by havin this computer down....I am suffering everyday...
(By profession, I am electronics Engineer and have worked with programming Microcontroller and bootloaders, but in this case, I do not have SPI Programmer to program BIOS chip externally.)

    Thank you flobelix  and Nichrome.
Quick Result Summary:  128MB USB Key formatted FAT32 with HP Tool, made MS-Dos Bootable and placed EIVB.BIN file given by  flobelix, but final result is: Screen comes Blank and only shows "A0" Code at right side bottom corner. nothing else.
    Detail
Since Flobelix proviced ROM BIN File, I was too exicited to try it out and here is what I did...
    (1) As per Nichrome link for HP USB Format Tool, I installed it on "Win XP" machine, and formatted 128MB USB key by selecting "FAT32" and selected option to make "MS-DOS Bootable" and shown Win98 source files as per the instruction.
-128MB USB drive made bootable with FAT32.
    (2) I downloaded EIVB.rar given by flobelix and extracted and copied EIVB.BIN file on USB root.
Inserted USB in MSI and powered up...
As soon as I give power:  Imidiately one normal beep and Screen comes completly Dark Blank. No message about "File not found".  only at right side bottom of screen, it shows "A0".
I inserted USB key in each and every USB slot, but result is same: Screen stays Blank and on right side corner only "A0" letter.
I given around 3-5 minutes time to see something changes on screen, but no change.
    - If I power-up computer without connecting any USB Drive: then message comes on screen that: Bios Update has not completed, please insert USB Key and Reset System.
    - On USB Key, If I put ROM File with any other name (except EIVB.BIN) then Message comes:  Updating BIOS... File Not Found...
    - I have removed battery to give a try for resetting BIOS, but not change.
    Question:
    (1) Is it possible that, motherboard is looking for specific version of File or some different version of file ? and just staying silent and not complaining for existing EIVB.BIN ?
Here is I experiment:  I simply created empty text file (0 Byte) on USB Drive and given name EIVB.BIN  and booted up computer and same result: Blank Screen and just "A0" on right side bottom corner.
So, it tells me that, when power is given, the program which executes in motherboard for BIOS, it is not able to identify real or fake EIVB.BIN.  I think, it's looking for some specific file and when not found, it's getting confuse on what to do....and not saying anything on the screen....
Has anyone old version BIN file of H61MU-E35 (B3)  ?
Is there any trick so I can download older version Packaged EXE from MSI website and extract it ? I can give a try....

  • "BIOS ME update....file not found " since a P67A-GD65 bios update failed

    Hi everyone,
I've decided to post this little message after looking for a solution over the web and over the MSI forum because I've got a problem since the BIOS update of my P67A-GD65 MB.
I've followed the update process for the 4.32 BIOS using an USB key, the update started but did not continue after reboot, and since My PC is out of order
The "BIOS ME update....file not found " message is displayed after lots of booting tries, using plenty of methods.
I've looked and tried all the techniques I could find over the web, I've tried :
-PC with and without SATA drives connected
-the last 4 versions of the bios found on-line, even the original version of my MB before updating (1.19)
-4 different usb keys (from 128 Mb to 4 GB)
-all front and back usb ports
Each time, on each usb key, there were several bios versions, even one renamed to AMIBOOT.ROM for testing the recovery method.
I've also tried to make the keys bootable by using the “MSIHQ USB Bootable” tool with the 1.19 bios (after the boot fix), the usb key appears in the F11 boot menu but when I select it, the PC boots but still shows me the "BIOS ME update....file not found " message.
I've also tried a clear CMOS with several power off.
I've also tried to burn a CD containing only a AMIBOOT.ROM file, and to boot on it, but same problem occurs.
In brief, it seems that my PC does not recognize my Key's content, whatever it is.
I've you got an idea to help me ?
Last precision, the update process that failed was using the 4.3 bios version, but my CPU is a not an IvyBridge .
    thanks for your help

    HI
I've tried  with your file , that's better but not solved
the "BIOS ME update....file not found" has gone but my bios is still inacessible.
I put the usb key (with the decompressed file) and the PC starts, displays the MSI boot logo, and then shows a message for hitting F1 or F2 bla bla bla...
Whatever the key that has been hit (F1 or F2, and only the first time), the pc boots again and again after displaying the boot logo, followed by a 30 seconds black screen.
If I remove the key, I've got a message that says I have to put a key on an usb port, and when I put back the usb key , the PC starts to boot again and again.
    Once again , I'm stuck.
    thanks for your help

Ok formated with hp tool put the  7680vJ0.exe  and got       updating bios .......bios file not found! no dos prompt if I could get to the dos prompt I thin I could flash maualy with FUDE238.EXE
Yup. That would probably work. I don't know. Not sounding good. Is there a reasonable priced pc shop in your area that has an SPI flash programming device that could flash the chip for you?

  • MSI H61M-E33(B3) updating bios.........file not found

    Hi,
I tried to update the bios MSI H61M-E33(B3) from 10.D to 12.2. After rebooting, i got the message "BIOS Update: ... file not found".
There is something wrong, what could it be?
The following files are on an usb-Stick:
    - 7680vC2.exe (Windows-Installer)
    - EIVB.bin (MD5: 55a1af369b1db5b180a432a8fa5c7178 )
    - IM9T318R (empty directory)
If the stick is missing, i got the message that the bios-update is not finished yet.

    If that doesn't work:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Download the attached archive to your desktop(of any computer)
    Install the forum update tool
Use option 1 of the tool and point it at the entire archive.
It will prepare the flash tool to flash, I am not sure if you are getting far enough to use this, perhap try a full cmos clear as well.
If none of these solutions will work, you will need that spi programmer.

  • BIOS update utility does not run

I am on an IBM-branded T42, model 2378-EXU. My current BIOS level is 3.13 (1RETDHWW). I have XP Professional with all service packs and updates installed and up to date.
I am trying to update to the latest BIOS of 3.23 (1RETDRWW).
I downloaded the BIOS update utility file 1ruj37us.exe from the Lenovo support & downloads site. I copied it to a temp directory on my hard drive. I disconnected my computer from the dock, have it on AC power, have a fully charged battery. I have shut down all other applications and my antivirus software. I have followed all other instructions on the site verbatim.
When I run the exe file, it starts up in Windows as expected. I run through all the confirmation screens and tell it to start the BIOS update. As I understand it, the next thing should be automatic startup of a DOS utility that does the actual work. Instead, as soon as I hit the final confirmation on the Windows utility, it shuts down Windows and restarts the computer. The BIOS does not get updated. I have confirmed this through system utilities (the Thinkpad system information) and by interrupting startup and verifying the BIOS information in the configuration utility. I have also tried reloading BIOS to default in order to reinitialize it.
I have done these steps at least four times now. My computer doesn't update and the update utility never fires up the workhorse part of the functionality. It just goes straight to system restart.
    Can you offer any suggestions?

I have started the exe utility from a DOS window by manually typing in the name, I have started it from the RUN dialog box, and I have started it by double-clicking it from the Windows Explorer. In all cases it starts up the Windows application portion just fine. I get all the initial warning messages and confirmation messages. But as soon as I get to the "do it now button" (click Next to update your BIOS), it just immediately shuts down and restarts my computer without doing the flash update.

  • File Not Found / Fade Update Failed Error -43

I have been getting two errors all of a sudden when instigating playback in the Arrange window in Logic 9.
File Not Found Result Code -43
    and
    Fade Update Field Error -43
I have googled information on this and have tried the following:
Used "Save As" and changed the name of the project file
Removed automation at the start of 3 tracks where i have automated in a gradual increase in volume
Gone to the Audio menu and selected "Delete Fade Files"
None of the above have worked. I have not used the crossfade tool to add a fade to the start or end of a track, i have only created a fade effect by using Volume Automation.
There seems to be other people having the same problem but i haven't found any with the -43 error code.
Does anyone know what that code relates to?
Have you any suggestions as to how i can get rid of this error?
    Thanks

I recently had issues with a "File Not Found" error, though it was a different code #. (-61, or something similar.)
I was trying to move a track from my old G4 and work on it on my Macbook Pro laptop.
The problem turned out to be related to file permissions.
Logic is not a network-friendly program, and OS X is hyper sensitive to permissions, so to access a file that was originally stored on another computer, I had to do two things:
"Get Info" for the drive (it was not a system drive) that the original file was stored on, and check the box at the bottom:
    "Ignore Permissions on This Volume"
From the user account on that computer, I then copied the file from the internal drive to an external firewire drive which also had "Ignore Permissions" checked off in the "Get Info" window.
I could then access the file from my user account on the laptop.
Once I did those steps, the "File Not Found" error no longer appeared.
