H77MA-G43 and 32nm CPU

I recently bought an H77MA-G43 Motherboard along with a Corsair GS600 PSU and a CM chassis. I installed the PSU, motherboard and some of my previous components until I can afford a new CPU and graphics card. The CPU is an Intel i3-2100 3.1ghz which has 32nm spacing. The motherboard requires 22nm (which granted is stupid as I only remembered AFTER inserting the CPU).
Just out of curiosity I would like to know what would happen if I tried to power up the machine? Would it moan about an incorrect CPU by means of some bleep or would it just not power up?

Okay the PC consists of following:
Chassis: Coolermaster Elite 430
PSU: Corsair GS600 (600W)
Motherboard: MSi H77MA-G43
RAM: Transcend 4GB 1333 (1 Slot)
CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1Ghz
HDD: Seagate 520GB
GPU: MSi Nvidia N210 1GB
I have done the following:
1. Installed the above components into the chassis.
2. Attempted to boot the PC.
3. Checked connections on the motherboard and checked again and again.
4. Reattempted boot.
5. Removed CPU, RAM, HDD and GPU and reinserted them into previous machine.
6. Old machine booted without problems.
7. Moved the components back to new machine along with PSU of older machine (Zixaa 450W)
8. Swapped PSU's and attempted to boot and still had the same problem (ought to rule out the PSU as the problem)
I'll attempt the idea of placing all the components on a piece of cardboard and performing the start-up

  • MSI H77MA-G43 AND INTEL 2ND GEN

    Hello,
i have made a budget pc for a friend with the following config:
    MSI H77MA-G43
    INTEL I5 2400
    MSI GTX 550 TI
I have installed all the drivers but i can´t get any audio or ethernet. I've read about this and i come to a conclusion that might be some problems of compatibility between h77 chipsets and 2nd generation intel processors, since h77 chipsets ware made for 3rd gen. processors.
I've already change bios, installed the latest drivers and updates the chipset controller, but nothing. Anyone can help me or do i have to change the board for a P67 chipset???
    Thanks in advance,

The board runs fine with an i5-2400 and bios 1.70:
    http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-19052.html
Audio is already working with default Windows driver.
Make sure you've selected your speakers in the Playback Devices menu in Windows. It might use the VGA audio at the moment.
LAN is running fine with the Realtek driver: http://www.msi.com/service/download/driver-2697.html
What ME version is the board running on? You can check that in the Settings->System Status menu.

  • H77MA-G43 with Highpoint Rocketraid 640 - Not posting

    Hi All,
I recently brought a H77MA-G43 and built a system running VMware ESXi which runs fine. However when I try to add a Highpoint Rocketraid 640 which works on my main PC (Asus M/B) the system wont post. I've tried numerous variations of the Bios settings for the Highpoint card but cannot find anything on the H77MA-G43 bios which would get the card working.
I have put a HP P212 Raid card on the mainboard which works fine (except for VMdirectpath I/O (works but the VM's don't see the HP card properly, I can troubleshoot this myself)) but I really do need the Highpoint functioning for the additional SATA 6Gbs ports.
A previous bios (v1.3) included support for the Rocket 620X1 Gen2 card so I thought an update to the latest bios 1.4 would help but it did not.
Does anyone have any experience or ideas on troubleshooting this sort of problem or how I go about requesting this issue to be resolved or added to a future Bios?
    Cheers,

    Hi,
    I've got similar MB (Z77) and P212
but Raid is not working - i see the P212 initialization during boot and nowhere else - windows, linux, ESXi. (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161815.0)
Don't think this is a RAM or HDD problem...
    What Cpu do you use?
    Hi Andyrus,
I was planning to update this forum on my ESXi antics on my motherboard and good thing I did otherwise I would never had replied.
The CPU I have is a i5 3550, my HP P212 has a cache module but no BBWC. 16GB RAM installed (I'm at work so I cant check the brand).
    http://ark.intel.com/products/65516/Intel-Core-i5-3550-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz
ESXi detects it under storage controllers and I could use it without issue. I always had arrays configured when booting, do you?
I would try the 'How To Contact MSI' link in this thread to contact MSI, they turned around a beta bios very quickly (be warned the English isn't great but they are helpful).

  • H77MA-G43 BLUE SCREEN in XP Pro

    Today I did build a computer to a customer, I used H77MA-G43 and Intel Core i3 2100 3,1Ghz, 4Gb corsair 1333Mhz memory.
When trying to install XP Professional on the new WD Blue-500G-drive I recieve bluescreen of death before the installation starts where Im able to format the drive and continue the XP-install.
I know XP is OLD but the customer did not want to buy WIN7 at this stage.
Tried with WIN7-install and it continues to the format-drive part (ie works fine), I did not continue there...

hi, have you solved the problem? I'm too interested to know more about your problem (I'm searching an m-atx board for a win xp installation).Let's hope someone will reply, in any case please if you find a solution please report if you understand what the problem was.
    many thanks
Not solved at this time, (will try IDE-mode on the drive).
Try H67-chipset instead when looking for matx-board...

  • H77MA-G43 ESXI passthrough

I can success install the ESXI 5  on H77MA-G43 and I can see this mother board is supported VT-D. However, I cannot success passthrough my ATI 7750 display card to my VM. The VM is going to blue screen when I install the ATI display card driver. Can some one help me?
My VM is Window 7 64bit

Flashing your IMB M1015 RAID Controller to an LSI Firmware allowed it to work in esxi? Did you alter any setting on the MSI h77ma-g43 BIOS?
I have an LSI MegaRaid 9240-4i controller and when installed it hangs when loading vSphere esxi 5.x.x.
the Raid card works on 2 of my other MSI motherboards both "A55M-P33"  and just swapping the motherboard it hangs when booting esxi 5.x.x.
I have Injected the latest LSI drivers into a custom esxi .iso but it still won't boot past "Loading module megaraid_sas ...".
    I have tried ESXi 5.0, 5.0.u1, and 5.1.
My MSI h77ma-g43 BIOS is up to date v1.9
Any help would be appreciated as MSI technical support keeps telling me "our consumer boards aren't tested with server grade RAID Controllers.
Sorry for not replying sooner. The card worked regardless of flash/rom in the top PCI-E slot of the MB only and yes I flashed it to LSI IT firmware and used it for pass through. I used ESXi 5.0, and 5.0.u1. 5.1 worked but I couldn't pass my USB controller anymore so I downgraded to 5.1.u1

  • MSI H77MA-G43 - Windows XP, black screen with A3 code

    Hi,
I've just bought mb MSI H77MA-G43 and samsung SSD830 series.
    I have Windows XP.
I had to have set Sata mode to IDE beforee installing XP because Windows didn't see ssd.
Now it's ok but PC starts slowly. When I press power on button there is a black screen with A3 code and it takes some times(about 1-2 minutes) and next the Windows start normally.
What should I do to fix this issue?
    Thanks for replies.

If you want to install XP in AHCI mode you need to integrate the Intel AHCI drivers into an XP installation disk (with NLITE or XP ISO Driver) or load the drivers from a floppy disk during setup (Windows XP Setup only supports floppy drives/disks for that task, unfortunately).
I know that, I integrated drivers: "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Floppy Driver for 7x series" from that link http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H77MA-G43.html#/?div=Driver&os=XP%2032 but it didn't help. SSD was still undetected, so I change SATA mode to IDE to install XP.

  • Seeking another pair of eyes - MSI H77MA-G43 + i5 2500K

    Hello everyone,
I have read the CPU compatibility sticky and I think I have come to a conclusion but I wanted to run it past a larger group.
I have a MSI H77MA-G43 that won't POST (sits in a power cycle "infinite loop") and I *believe* it is possible my MSI H77MA-G43 has a BIOS that is not compatible with my i5 2500K CPU.
Using the CPU Compatibility checker for my motherboard (tried to post the link - cant) - I can see that 2500Ks with D2 stepping are supported on BIOS version 7756v10.
    Core i5   Sandy Bridge   i5-2500K   100   3.30   1M   6M   D2   95      7756v10.zip
So - I believe my issue may be I have an older motherboard BIOS and if I could find a spare CPU that will boot it - I could boot the BIOS and flash to upgrade it.
Does anyone have an opinions if that seems sane or not?
    Thank you,
    -A-

    Dear XFM and flobelix,
Edit: I finally read it correctly Flobelix - there is no version NOT supporting :-) -- Good news!!
XFM - I'm not home right now but I will post more detailed information. For troubleshooting purposes I only have RAM (single stick or dual stick tried both) and a Geforce Ti560 video card installed.
I'm running the system outside of a case and I've tried replacing the power supply with another one - and same behavior EXCEPT there are now 3 "medium" duration beeps that occur as the system cycles on and off power.
Edit: Nevermind - symptoms exactly the same. 3 Beeps was clearly memory - I didn't have the memory seated well when I did my single channel test. Checked memory seating VERY carefully and now (with new power supply) have the identical issue.
Edit Again: My old motherboard has 2 x4pin 12V ATX connectors and the "big" ATX connector with its additional little "4pin" add on. The new motherboard has the big connector (duh + 4pin) but it only has 1x4pin 12V ATX connectors....
Any chance this has something to do with it?
Tonight I re-thermal pasted my CPU hoping it was some kind of thermal shutdown issue...no change. Still endlessly loops - I'm going to let it sit for 30minutes endlessly looping and see if anything changes.
    Thank you,
    -A-

  • H77MA-G43. Cannot Enter Setup

    My system:
    MSI H77MA-G43
    Core i7 3770K
    Sandisk Extreme 120 SSD
    Crucial XMP DDR3 2000 RAM
    Nvidia GTX 460 video card
After installing the processor and RAM I attempted to enter BIOS setup. After hitting DEL the setup screen started to load then the system locked hard, had to power off and on again. Removed video card and all but one RAM stick; no change. Using a bootable thumbdrive I flashed the BIOS with 7756v1C.zip, now the system doesn't freeze, it reboots.
I need to get into BIOS so I can set up my video card. At them moment I can only use the onboard video card. The system runs fine, no issues, just can't enter BIOS setup.

check the socket pins under the CPU as it should automatically switch to PCI-E video card and your symptoms sound like the pins are bent under the CPU (random reboot and failure to access BIOS) and are not making appropriate contact!
also what PSU do you have?

  • H77MA-G43

    Hello,
I am going to build a custom PC using the msi H77MA-G43 motherbooard and the Intel Core i5 3550 and 1600mhz RAM. I was wonderingif it is required to overclock the motherboard or CPU to support 1600mhz, or does the motherboard support 1600mhz without overclocking? Thanks

I haven't used this board myself, but from the posts on here it seems it gets tempremental with memory more than other platforms. I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for any big memory oc's, this one was designed for stability with minor if any oc of any type.
I am actually thinking about building my next round of office computers with this board.

  • H77MA-G43 Intel Turbo boost question.

    Hi,
so I've recently bought a MSI H77MA-G43 board to fit in my Intel i7 3770 (non K).
My question is that when I use some hw monitor to show which frequency my CPU is running, it is almost always running all 4 cores at 3.7Ghz. Even when I put load just on 1 core, all 4 cores rise up to 3.7Ghz. AFAIK if I run single threaded app it should turbo boost one core to 3.9Ghz right? Is it a problem or is this normal?
    Thank you

Might be, here is the answer from Martin (creator of HWiNFO) about my CPU.

  • H77MA-G43 shows high motherboard temps

I have a MSI H77MA-G43 (MS-7756) (/mainboard) that intermittently show extremely high motherboard temps. According to Open Hardware Monitor the Fintek F71869A sensors read 70-105C for no reason. A restart returns them to normal. Does anyone know what could cause this?
    CPU temps are normal.

Did you try to locate which area is hot? We don't have such detailed manuals that says where is this Fintek F.... sensor.
When this occur again (high temps according to software), try to touch/locate the area it is on mainboard, IF it is really a sensor and not a bug.

  • H77MA-G43 wake on lan (WOL) issue

    Hi guys,
I need WOL to be enabled on 4 machine h77ma-g43 based, I3 3220 CPU.
I have last BIOS installed , 1,9, I've disabled eup, tryn' for half an hour to enable WOL on the integrated NIC but nothing seems to work...
I think the only way is to buy a new PCIE NIC... (because there's "wake on pcie" on the bios settings) and this is very disappointing.
PS. When mobo is turned off, I see no led activity, WOL software is well configured and I often use it with other mobos/PCs.
Any suggestion? If not... this is the first mobo I ever see that not support WOL!!
    thank you

  • Can I OC on a MSI H77MA-G43?

HI, i have a question about this board
I won it and now im curious is it possible to OC on it at all?
I've seen a lot of people claiming its not possible on H77 motherboard or only up to turbo multi level, is that true?
Also why does MSI promote 36% OC on this mobo, does it work or not, im planing to go I7 3770K and hopefully OC to ~ 4.5ghz.

The H series boards are limited to BCLK changes only and the CPU turbo in terms of CPU. The integrated GPU can be overclocked quite a bit.
If CPU OC'ing is intended then a Z series board is required. For the H series boards, a "K" series CPU is a waste.
