H8-1414 does not boot due to bios update problem

Hi, I did a BIOS update  on my desktop last night , now it does not boot up  and the motherboard send 8 long beeps with no video output. It seems that 8 beeps correspond to motherboard  BIOS problem I was pressing ESC and F10 keys to enter Bios settings but no luck...always 8 beeps and no video. Need to access BIOS setting on the screen or do BIOS reset but don't know how to do it on this case. Any help ?...Thanks! HP ENVY H8-1414M3970CM MotherboardAMD FX-6120 , 8 GB RAMAMD RADEON HD7450 VIDEO

Hi buddy,
You should check the forum content or with other words, use the forum search firstly before you ask something. Failed BIOS update is not unusual and can happen always. The forum contains already a lot threads about this and the only solution is contacting an ASP. The guys have professional tools to recover it.

  • Satelite P300 does not boot after failed Bios update

    Hi everyone,
I have tried to update the bios of a P300 using this :
    18/03/10
    BIOS Update
    Toshiba Windows 7 - 32 Bit 4.20-WIN32 World Wide
Which I downloaded from here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK after entering my laptops specifications.
The flash process hanged during the update and the laptop became unbootable, blank screen when powering on and nothing else...
I tried using the Phoenix Emergency Crisis application, created a floppy disk with the Bios image file that I have earlier downloaded but managed nothing.
The USB floppy driver access the floppy when entering the recovery mode, I hear some beeps that indicate that a process takes places, but when everything stops and reboot...the problem remains.
-Has anyone got a clue what to do next?
-Is the warranty void after a bios update attempt?
    Thank you for yor time.

  • HT3964 my imac 27 display has 5 blue lines and does not boot up what is the problem?

My Imac 27 displays 5 blue vertical lines and does not boot up.  What could cause this?

I already anticipated the video card causing this issue.  This was confirmed today by Apple issuing a campaign indicating the AMD Radeon 6970M video cards are defectivce and will be replaced free of charge three years from date of purchase.  I looked at the new iMacs and found repairing them to be a nightmare.  So, once this p.o.s. is repaired, I'm selling it and purchasing an ABA computer.

  • Satellite Pro L300-1FN does not boot - hangs at BIOS splash screen

My Satellite pro L300-1FN is refusing to boot up. When switched on the laptop displays the toshiba/insyde H20 BIOS splash screen and the "Press F2 go to Setup Utility, F12 go to boot menu" message and flashes the hard disk access light but does not attempt to continue loading. I have left the bios at the splash screen but it does nothing for many hours on AC or runs the battery flat while on battery.
Is there a way of re-setting the BIOS on this unit? If it were a desktop unit I would remove the CMOS battery to force a BIOS reset but this is impossible on a laptop. The hard disk is fine as I have connected it to another system to remove valuable data.

*I managed to fix this issue* ,,, thanks to some other dudes on other forums
What i did was Format a Floppy disk as MS-DOS boot using a Windows XP PC and USB floppy drive, then downloaded the latest BIOS for my L300-1BW laptop model, copied *.fd bios image to the floppy disk and renamed it to BIOS.fd.
Connect FDD to the toshiba laptop with out AC connected. Held Power button for 12 seconds, connected AC adapter, then held Fn+F, powered on , and kept the Fn+F keys held down for about 10 seconds into the reading of the floppy drive just to be sure, then let go. The screen was black throughout the process. I left this for a few minutes, or until it had finished, the laptop rebooted itself, and voila, it now goes passed the TOSHIBA POST logo screen :)
I hope this helps others with Toshiba Laptops. should work for any Toshiba laptop.

  • X240 will not boot after latest bios update

I bought windows 8 .1 machine from factory. Then I had local shop install 8.1 on larger ssd. I just performed latest bios update and now machine will not boot. I am sure this is uefi related but I am not knowledgable in that area. The boot parameter returned to me by the shop was "legacy only" and secure boot was disabled.

Since doing the BIOS update are the settings still as you noted above?  You also didn't mention which SSD is now installed in the system.
Just as an aside, installing Windows 8.1 in legacy mode isn't exactly optimal.  Were there any particular reasons for this? Just being curious.

  • Satellite A series does not start up after BIOS update

After bios update with downloaded utility my notebook does not start up.
Did this case covered by warranty?

Im not quite sure if this would be covered by warranty. You should contact the ASP in your country for details but I presume its not covered.
PS: Did you try this workaround:
    - remove battery, disconnect the AC adaptor
    - wait ~ 40min
    - connect both devices again and try to power up the notebook

    Hi all,
I was updating my bios on my M60 with the latest bios version and I was following the windows flashing procedure (the recommended one) and it blue screened and dumped. Now the laptop wont boot, wont even post. Just a big dead brick :(
I'm fairly proficient with hardware (I'm a software engineer) but I do not know how to reflash a laptop when this sort of thing happens. Is there a trigger bios reset on board? Is there anything I can do my self? If I take it back to my dealer how likely is it they will be able to reflash the bios in house? (Its a fairly large dealer in the Toronto area)
This being a work system I need the solution that has the smallest time impact - cost is not too big an issue.
    Any help would be grand,
    thanks in advance.

    Hello Kristan
According to your problem description I presume the BIOS chip is damaged and unfortunately you can not do much alone. Please contact Toshiba service and explain them the situation. They will explain you everything you must know and you can talk with them about costs and the time they need for notebook repairing.
    Bye

  • [SOLVED] Archlinux does not boot any more after update

    Hi all,
yesterday I decided to update my Archlinux system again after postponing the updates for some weeks.
In general I update anything except kernel stuff, but this did lead to some dependency problems recently,
so I decided to make a full upgrade now via pacman.
After restarting the system, the kernel refused to boot. It told me, that it couldn't find my root partition /dev/sdc1 and left
me in an almost useless recovery shell. The error was:
ERROR: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device /dev/sdc1
Has anyone an idea, what might have happened? I had to install Ubuntu into a free partition to post this
topic. The disks and partitions are okay, I managed to "boot" using the old kernel, but of course the system
remained useless in that case due to wrong kernel module versions.
Thanks in advance for any hint, how to proceed.
    Cheers, Zmann

    Hi all,
thanks for the quick replies and sorry for the delay (children prioritized :-)
Yes, I'm using an older SATA controller (more or less 6 years), so the problem might be related to what you posted.
I was not able to boot the old fallback kernel, same error message. The fallback kernel simply uses a different initrd
file, perhaps I should think about a more sophisticated approach.
Nevertheless I already checked the file /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and it did not contain a hook called autodetect. So maybe
the mkinitcpio won't help anyway? Should I prefer using the suggested LTS kernel instead? I assume, this is done by booting
using an archlinux CD, then chroot and using pacman? Maybe it's sufficient to chroot from the currently running ubuntu instead?
Or will the booted kernel have any influence to mkinitcpio or the like?
    Cheers, Zmann

  • Re: Satellite A135-S7403 does not pass POST after BIOS update

    Hello
    I have A135-S7403, i know that it's old but i worked good until i install a new Bios version (1.90 for Satellite A130 (PSAD0U/PSAD3U) from the official Toshiba site(here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1854878& rpn=PSAD0U&modelFilter=&selCategory=3&selFamily=10 73768663).
Everything installed without any problems but when i restart laptop it doesn't start.
It freezes on screen with red inscription "In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA" and i can do nothing.
What should i do? And why this official update broke down my computer?

Sounds like I'm having exactly that problem. Today I update the Bios of A135-S4477 with the official update download from toshiba support. Things works fine and the screen says smt like "sucessful... your pc will shutdown in 10 seconds" then I saw a small popup says smt like "if the keyboard or mouse doesn't work.... bla bla bla" I doesn't finish my reading when the whole system goes off but I think everything is ok at that time.
When I try booting up the system. It's freezed at the "in touch with toshiba". F2 or F12 cannot function. I had no choice but brought that to the local service, unfortunately they cannot fix it and they have to send it to another center in another city. Actually I don't know what happen to my laptop since I did follow the instruction of the official download. What are the cases that can happen? what is the worst case and what about the best case? how much will I be charged?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Satellite Pro A300-1DZ does not find HDD after BIOS update

    Hi everyone,
I have recently purchased a secondhand Satellite Pro A300 1DZ.
Put a fresh copy of Windows xp home on it.
I then went on to install all the drivers needed from Toshiba's own site and at the end of this I thought it may be a good idea to update the bios????
OH DEAR what a big mistake.
Now the netbook will NOT start windows.
So I thought thats ok I will just start from the begginning and reinstall windows again, but it is telling me it cannot find a hard disk on my netbook?
    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am going crazy,
Could someone please tell me how to fix this? Thank you x

    Hi
I think the option SATA mode has been set to AHCI and therefore the Windows XP cannot find the HDD.
This is because of the SATA controller.
You can set the SATA mode from AHCI mode to compatible mode and this will allows you to install the Win XP on the notebook without the usage of SATA drivers.
So, youve got two options if you want to install Win XP:
AHCI mode -> but you have to include SATA drivers
Compatible mode -> Win XP installation possible without the SATA drivers

  • Vaio Flip does not turn on after BIOS update

Hello Community, I'm using Sony Vaio Flip 13'' (SVF13N13CXB) for about a year.Yesterday I decided to upgrade my firmware to address noisy fan etc. So I got update utility from Sony website, launched it, got prompt to reboot my PC to continue upgrading process. After rebooting I got a Vaio logo and progress indicator rolling. After reching 66% it stuck. I waited for about an hour, there was no progress, so I had to power off my PC (hold power button for 5 seconds). Now when I try to power it on using Power or Assistance buttons, it will turn on the green led, fan starts making some noise, and thats it. Screen is blank. I searched throught this site, tried to press battery button at the bottom with clip, discunnecting/connecting power adater, etc, etc. Unfortunatelly nothing helps.I assume the BIOS is now corrupted (I may be wrong although). Please can you suggest how can I recover the firmware to factory state? Thank you, Vitalii

    Hi vetooon,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
It looks like your laptop is already corrupted. Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot your computer.
Power Cycle the computer by poking the battery reset hole [4] for about 15-20 mins with the laptop unplug.
    2. Plug it back in then press the power button. If issue persist proceed to the next step .
    3. Press and hold the power button for 3-5 mins or until its completely off.
    4. Press the "ASSIST" button. When you see the "Vaio care Rescue mode" page, select F2 to go to BIOS then reset it to default.
    5. Go back to "Vaio care Rescue mode" page, we'll check if you have a Restore Point so we can go back to an earlier date. On step #7 instead of choosing the "Recovery and Maintain" choose the Advance Option, then choose the current operating system of your pc (ex. Windows 8)
    6. If issue still persist then click on this link and follow the instructions carefully. Please take note that on this process you will go back to factory setting and all the files will be deleted. You can seek the assistance of a professional technician to retrieve your files.
    I hope this helps you.

    Jen

  • Satellite M30-107 does not boot correctly after Recovery disk usage

    Hi
I've recently got hold of a second hand toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop, and decided to freshen it up.
I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after doing so the laptop no longer loads windows.
When turned on it shows the Toshiba start up disk for about a second then goes to a blank screen and freezes.
When turned off and on again a screen comes up reporting an error in shutting down and gives the options to start in safe mode etc. but choosing any of the options causes the machine to freeze.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
Sounds a little bit like the notebook does not boot due to the Windows software issue
Did you recover the M30 with the original Toshiba recovery CD which was supplied with this M30 unit?
Maybe Im wrong but for me it looks like a wrong recovery CD was used and an image with non compatible drivers was installed
You could try to install the OS from original Microsoft Win XP CD and could check if it would be possible to get the notebook ruining using clean OS.
In such case we ( you and me ;) ) could find out if this issue could be related to the software or hardware.
    Bye
