  • Mini Displayport issue?

Can someone tell me if there is a genral issue wiht the displayport adapter on the MacBook Pro?  I hook it up to a DSP to HDMI with no signal.  Then swith monitor and cable to DSP to DVI - worked great for about 1 hours, then came back and nothing.  The monitor works fine on other compurtrs.  ARe there any enw fixes for the DSP connector?  PLease help. Thanks - DAVE

    with no signal
Most displays make no distinction between:
    No signal whatsovere
    A signal that is out-of-range
One important intermediate step is to use:
    About this Mac > ( More Info ) > Graphics/Displays...
... to see if the Make&Model of the display is seen by the Mac:
-If yes, look at resolution issues and turn off Mirroring until you get it working
-If no, then look at cabling issues, as you have not yet established a connection.
For some displays, the default approximation of DVI or HDMI signal levels is not quite good enough, and an ACTIVE [powered] adapter must be used.

  • Can't use 2nd monitor for Desktop Video - DisplayPort issue?

I just got my Mac Pro 8 core (2009). I have two monitors connected to it. Anything that happens on the second monitor(connected to the DisplayPort via a DisplayPort to DVI adapter) is choppy. I can't even move or reposition windows smoothly.
Additionally, Final Cut Pro will not let me use the second monitor to play my video out as I could with my previous mac pro (2008) which had two DVD ports.
What's up with this DisplayPort causing these issues?

    Hi,
If you can't see the basic HP UEFI boot menu information with a DVI connection then you have a hardware issue. It's either your monitors or DVI cable or the DVI port on your PC. It's definitely not a software issue as digital drivers don't get loaded until later in the Windows boot process.
Test the monitors and the DVI cable on another PC to ensure that they work correctly.  Alternatively, try a different DVI cable and monitor on your PC.

  • HP Elite L2201X HDMI to Displayport

Hi,Operating Systen - Windows 7 64bitI have a Lenovo Y460p laptop. It has a HDMI out on the video card. I also have an HP Elite L2201x with a DisplayPort in. I bought a Startech.com HDMI2DP which is supposed to actively convert the HDMI to DisplayPort. When I plug up both to the converter, the monitor just blinks orange. The monitor has been installed using the CD. The converter has been hooked up correctly. I don't know what the problem is. Can anothing help?

gsuren, Here are the specs for your HP Elite L2201x 21.5-inch LED Backlit LCD Monitor. According to the specs, your HP L2201x monitor has a single DisplayPort input and no other video connections. You must connect the monitor to a computer with native DisplayPort output or use an "ACTIVE HDMI-to-DisplayPort CONVERTER".  From "HP ZR24W and Displayport"11-05-2012 06:53 PM - edited 11-06-2012 07:46 AM  @ off1c3r, mikasa, bcody79, and others with the same DVI-D or HDMI to DisplayPort issue. The problem isn't with the monitor... it is with the way you are trying to connect your computer to the monitor. The monitor has a DVI-D input and a DisplayPort input. If your computer doesn't have native DisplayPort output, you can't use the monitor's DisplayPort input without an expensive active converter.  But you say you purchased a DVI-D or HDMI to DisplayPort adapter cable??? Wrong, unless it is an active converter there is no way to go from DVI-D or HDMI at your computer to a DisplayPort monitor. The cables you have purchased are designed to go from a computer's DisplayPort output to a monitor's DVI-D or HDMI input. This is facilitated by the graphics adapter sensing an active DVI-D or HDMI connection (via adapter cable) on the DisplayPort output and switching the signaling to DVI-D or HDMI. Please read DisplayPort.org/FAQs for more information on the subject. You can also check out wiki/DisplayPort for more information as well. From DisplayPort.org; Q: I just purchased a monitor that only has a DisplayPort connection. How can I hook this up to my computer that only has VGA, DVI or HDMI?A: There is not a cost effective way to do this. The adaptors that are available only work from a DP computer to a VGA, DVI or HDMI monitor and not the other way around. If you have a desktop you can purchase a graphics card with DisplayPort. Our best advice: Before you purchase a DP only monitor make sure you have DP on your computer.

  • GTX 970 No Signal on Displayport

I just upgraded from a EVGA 660 to a GTX 970 Gaming and I can longer get a signal to my TV using the displayport-hdmi cable i had used previously. I know people have been having issues with a blank login screen on displayport, but I'm not getting a signal at all on my HDTV. I can get a signal on both HDMI and DVI (using VGA adapter) but when switching to displayport (even when already logged in) i don't get anything and the video card doesn't recognize the connection in the Nvidia control panel. I tried a clean driver install yesterday (347.09) with no luck but will attempt a VBIOS update tonight when i get home. Has anyone had a similar issue? I don't plan on using the card for multi-monitor and would rather just buy another HDMI cable than RMA but would hate to just ignore it and than have a need for displayport somewhere down the line. Hopefully it's just a software issue as displayport problems seem to be fairly widespread.
    TV: Sony XBR 46HX929
    Mobo: Asrock z77 Extreme6

It looks like my issue was a false alarm, tested the cable on the laptop i originally bought it for and couldn't get a signal from it either. Guess it was just a coincidence that it decides to fail the instant i connect it to a displayport issue prone video card.

  • T410s/T410/T510 DP- HDMI, audio questions, survey

    Hi,
after all the confusion concerning DisplayPort-audio and the T-series, I decided to find out for myself and test it at my local Lenovo dealer.
As my dealer had not a single HDMI and audio capable output device in his shop, I brought my own Medion MD 20226 LCD TV, which has 2 HDMI-in ports.
The idea was to use a 2m DisplayPort->HDMI-cable provided by the dealer in order to connect the T410s in question to my little TV.
Background: Due to the misleading information from Lenovo concerning the last generation T400s/T400/T500 models and their audio over DisplayPort issue (no audio at all), I expected to get a picture without any problems but that I would need to figure out how to enable the sound by changing some settings inside Windows 7.
What happened: Actually neither me nor my dealer were able to get ANYTHING out of the DisplayPort, when using the DisplayPort->HDMI-cable. There was NEITHER video NOR audio!
I should point out that at the time being my dealer only had T410s models without the (maybe) switchable NVidia graphics.
Another point that I want to emphasize is that, after 45 minutes of trying everything we could to make it work, we switched to the T510 that was standing right beside the T410s in his show room. Unfortunately I was too confused to ask what kind of graphics setup this machine had, but the result was the same: no video, no audio at the TV.
As it is apparent that there are quite a lot of confused Lenovo customers out there that have similar questions:
I HEREBY FORMALLY ASK FOR A DETAILED AND IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION/CLARIFICATION OF POSSIBLE DP->HDMI, DP-AUDIO AND DP->HDMI-AUDIO ISSUES WITH THE CURRENT T410s/T410/T510 SERIES (all combinations of graphics cards).
Of course I think that it would be best if one of the Lenovo engineers would take care of that in one of the Lenovo blogs.
But until then, it might be a good starting point to ask those of us, who already have a T410s/T410/T510.
So I just start right away:
    MODEL:                   T410s (NUK39GE / 2912-39G)
    used GPU:              Intel GMA 5 / QM57
    DP->DP-video:       not tested
    DP->DP-audio:      not tested
    DP->HDMI-video:  tested->not working
    DP->HDMI-audio: tested->not working
As I said, I was only able to test it at my local Lenovo dealer and I gave up after around 1 hour of testing. So it might be, that someone who has more time and resources (different adaptors) might be able to get it running.
So to all of you out there with a new Tx10(s), please take the time, find your next HDMI-TV and try it.
And to Lenovo: as long as there is no official statement concerning this, I will keep asking for an official response ;-) (and THIS time, don't blame the chipset, as the new Intel-Calpella has all the HD-video/audio goodness one could ask for: wiki article on Intel Calpella and its DP features).
    Thanks for reading all this!

  • X200 - External display is intermittently interrupted (Driver 8.15.10.1855)

    Hi all,
I use Windows 7 and the X200 display driver on the official driver page.
    The version is 8.15.10.1855
I also use a Ultrabase, and connect it to the external LCD through DisplayPort.
Sometimes the external LCD would start to flicker, then become black for several second,
    and resume automatically.
Does anybody also encounter the same problem?
    Thank you!

I bit the bullet and bought the Displayport to DVI connector. It cost me USD25. I'm now using the DVI port on the Dell U2410. It's been a couple of hours (fingers and toes still crossed) and no flicker so far, so I think it's a Displayport issue.
If this works, then I would attribute it to the implementation of Displayport on the X200 and Ultrabase because when I connect using the Displayport connector from my desktop to the same monitor, there are no problems whatsoever.

  • Surface Pro 3 Display/Video/Graphics Driver Issues - DisplayPort, External Monitors, Windows 10 Build 9926

Surface Pro 3 - i5 with Intel HD Graphics 4400
    Windows 10 build 9926
    All Latest updates installed
    Intel Graphics Driver 10.18.15.4079.
Latest system update released on Jan 22nd (which I understand is just the latest intel graphics driver?).
The display driver status has this error message: Windows has stopped this device because it
    has reported problems. (Code 43)  - I assume it's
reverting to the basic Microsoft driver when this occurs. Which explains why my displayport (External monitors) will not work.
I have uninstalled the driver completely (and deleted the driver files), tried the Windows basic driver,
and rebooted several times with no luck.
I cannot get my docking station displayport or the  displayporton my surface pro 3 working.
According to Microsoft (see below), this is a known issue UNTIL you update to display driver
    version 4079  - which I have.
Known issues on Surface after updating to Windows 10 January Technical Preview
On Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, the Mini DisplayPort won’t work on the Windows 10 January Technical Preview until you’ve installed graphics driver 4079 or later. Check Windows Update often for the most recent graphics driver.
On Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, you’ll notice poor graphics rendering on the Windows 10 January Technical Preview until you’ve installed graphics driver 4079 or newer from Windows Update. Check Windows Update often for the most recent graphics driver.
If you’re using video driver 3496, you may need to start in safe mode and remove that driver. Then restart Surface in normal mode and go to Windows Update to get the most recent graphics driver.

    Hi Nicholas,
Similar issue has been asked here:
Surface Pro 3 restarting after a series of blank screens!
For error code 43, here is a reference:

  • Mid 2010 Macbook pro - Mini DisplayPort to Hdmi issues

Hi there! I'm having some issues connecting my mid 2010 Macbook pro to my 32" Toshiba LED TV.
I'm running OS X Version 10.8.2 , as mentioned before, on the mid 2010 Macbook pro.
The issue which I have, is that when I connect my Hdmi cable to my minidisplay port through the adapter, I keep getting a blue screen popping up.
I am using a Startech MiniDisplay to HDMI Adapter Converter and ION 6FT Flat HDMI CABLE.
    anyone with suggestions on help?

I had issues with getting my MBP to work with my Vizio XVT323SV via the RGB port. What worked for me was downloading SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/indexSRX4.html) and setting up a custom 1920x1080 resolution using the values found in the Vizio user guide. Works like a champ now. Best shareware investment I ever made. Now I can watch my EyeTV recordings at full HD resolution.
    Hope this helps. Good luck!
Sidebar: I also bought the Griffin mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable, but I can't get any signal at all via that connection. The Mac doesn't see the TV and the TV doesn't see a signal. Very frustrating. My RGB connection is good enough but I bet HDMI would be even better.

  • Macbook air Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter connectivity issues

    Hi pple,
Would like to ask if anyone is facing connectivity issues with Mini DisplayPort to VGA?
I am currently using the 2nd Gen Macbook Air with Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. Sometimes when I connect to a montior (Viewsonic VA1918wm) it works fine, sometimes it just does not work and the laptop just shows me a blue screen.
I tried with out with my friend's Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, it has the same problem. Does this means that my macbook air mini disoaly port got a problem?
    Thanks
    Bryan

I am experiencing the same kind of problem... only with projectors. Some projectors will display the screen and then others wont even register with the MacBook Air.
Using an Apple Min Displayport to VGA adapter. It's hit or miss if it works. Firmware has been updated on the adapter but this did not help.
    Anyone help with this?
    Thanks,
    Nathan.

  • TS3232 I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have screen flickering issues

I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have massive screen flickering issues on a Mac Mini 2012.
I am using a Dell 30" monitor (it's the Samsung screen just rebranded) connected to a WD 4TB Thunderbolt drive connected to the Mac Mini.
The screen is usable for the most part when I've just started the computer (although today I started having issues after a fresh restart) but if even just the screen goes to sleep, or the computer goes to sleep and I wake it later, I start to have massive flickering to black and occasionally to snow.
The effect seems to be more likely to arise when I'm on heavy graphics-intensive websites or programs (eg, Tumblr feed with lots of GIF images or working in Adobe Premiere), but once it starts shutting down those programs has no effect, the screen keeps flickering wildly.
The problem improved after the 1.03 firmware upgrade (for a while it was flickering uncontrollably ALL the time and was virtually unusable) but it has not gone away.
Any suggestions would be very welcome, either for how to fix this issue or how to get Apple to, you know, let me TELL THEM that their adapter firmware fix has NOT solved the issue, since my phone support has expired. :/

I have a new Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to allow my original Apple 30" Cinema Display to connect to the new Mac Pro.  Shipped straight from Apple, it is firmware version 1.03.  I've never had flickering issues, but the display will often go black (possibly after a screen power save) and not come back.  when this happens I am still able to connect to and use the Mac via remote connection.  But the only way to get the screen back is either to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to the Mac, or to shut down and power up the Mac.  This may be a separate issue, so I'll also post it standalone...

  • Mini Displayport to Dual-Link DVI Issues on 30" Cinema Display

I know this problem has been around for a while, and that there are several other discussion on it, but my goal here is to point out that even in mid-2011, this issue remains.
    Here's my configuration:
    30" Cinema Display
Dual-link MDP to DVI adapter with 1.03 firmware (purchased August 2011 from an Apple Store)
New-ish MacBook Pro (purchased December 2010) with Mini Displayport
    Symptoms:
On dark areas of the screen, DVI noise appears (horizontal flickers of light coming and going at random)
    Attempted Fixes:
Unplugging the display and plugging it back in to the computer (failed)
    Restarting the computer (failed)
Tightening the connections on the Dual-Link DVI adapter (failed)
Sleeping the display and awaking it (failed)
Some suggest getting a new 27" Cinema Display with native Mini Displayport/Thunderbolt support. I actually have one, but I cannot tolerate the glare on the glossy displays, so I'm "downgrading" to a 30" Cinema Display.
Is there any remaining hope for this issue?

I still cannot understand why you would return everything... Ultimately you want this computer right? Once the bugs on the adapter are fixed are you gonna go back and re-buy it?
Seems like a lot of time spent out of spite and not for good reason. Me, this is the best Mac I've ever owned (and I've owned many. no, really.) and I'm happy to wait for this adapter w/ this machine in stead of going back to my other box.
I observed a similar client of mine w/ an iPhone... after the first week, he didn't like the keyboard and a few other things, so he took it back and went back to using his Blackberry -only to dump the Blackberry again for the iPhone, because he realized that the iPhone still did more things better than the Blackberry.

  • Mini displayport to dual-Link DVI Adapter - flicker issue resolved

I have a late 2013 Imac 27 inch and I had a 30"  Dell 3007wfp as my second monitor on the standard DVI adapter for a while at low resolution.  I finally got off my behind and bought the mini displayport to dual-Link DVI Adapter...  I was excited to see it in all it's glory.  It immediately started flickering wildly and I thought I'd do some reading to see how I could resolve it.   Pointers to making sure the adapter was version 1.03 didn't help.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3232
I already had it.  I was getting ready to bite the bullet and just take it back when I decided to see if I had another DVI cable to swap the one I was using out "just in case".  I found another one.. same length.  Darn it. Then I noticed the DVI cable diameter I was using was significantly thinner than the one I found in my box of etc...  What the heck? I thought.
Connected it and BOOM!  Vivid colors, high resolution, no more flickers!!   Issue gone.  Happy days!

  • Mini DisplayPort to DVI issues

I just recently purchased the new aluminum MacBook, having previously owned one of the very last iterations of the white MacBooks.
With my old white MacBook I had purchased a Mini-DVI to DVI adapter, and was using that to connect to a DVI to HDMI cable, and that cable was going into my HDTV. I would select and check Overscan under the Display Options of my HDTV, which appeared as PDP-xx50SX under my MacBook, and two black bands would be added to the top and bottom of my MacBook's display, and I would get a full screen crisp image on my HDTV that I was very satisfied with, I would use this to view TV Shows and Movies on Hulu without any issues.
I no longer have that MacBook as a few days ago I got my new aluminum MacBook, and with it my Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. 4 hours ago I wanted to catch up on The Office, so I plugged in my new adapter to the Mini DisplayPort, hooked up my DVI to HDMI cable, and that into my TV, just like I did with my previous MacBook. That was 4 hours ago, and I am still unable to properly configure it like my last MacBook.
I have been beating my head for 4 hours now looking across every forum on the internet, every thread, and every possible way to type out this issue on Google to find any and all results. For some reason I just do not get the Options tab like I was able to on my old MacBook where I could then select the Overscan checkbox.
This is really frustrating, I've tried every possible combination of resolution, mirrored and not, and nothing works like it did with my old MacBook. I simply cannot get a correct full screen image on my HDTV.
Is this a firmware issue? Has it already been addressed and I somehow missed it? Is there any fix? Is this the cause of DisplayPort? Why wouldn't nVidia's 9400m be able to do the same thing Intel's GMA X3100 did? So many questions, and I didn't know where to turn to so I came here to the Apple Support forums hoping I'd get some resolution or reassurance this is something that will be/is being addressed. The only fixes I've seen online are programs like SwitchResX or DisplayConfigX, but I'm not that technically savvy and would rather not fry my screen, especially when it worked perfectly out of the box with my older MacBook. Help!

I am also frustrated by the new display port. I have purchased a DisPort to DVI connector from the Apple store and the pin configuration is different than previous all other Apple adapters (DVI-I). The 4-ins around the blade are missing in the new adapter. The genius bar said in Orlando that the new adapters are a new version of DVI called DVI-D. So all my previous investment cabling is hosed. I was away from the home 20 so I purchased yet another $29 VGA adapter from the Apple store to complete my mission.
Moral of the sad story - Buy a DVI-I to DVI-D adapter if you own and use a MacBook for presentations. The Apple Store does not carry them.
Hey wait a minute is this tied to the disappearing Firewire connector???
    Mike
PS - I was ablt to find a DVI-D to HDMI connector that I will try when I get back home...stay tuned!!
