H97 Gaming 3
I purchased ah97 gaming3 board and i5-4690k proc.
I cannot get into the bios with my current keyboard. Genius Imperator. I am not sure what bios is loaded. I have tried the keyboard on every usb port possible.
Is this a compatability issue?
Will do. Doing a fresh install tonight. I had the same issue with a older Genius keyboard and Asrock board. could not get into bios but windows was fine. Replaced with the current one and was all fine. Now i have the issue with the MSI board. Hopefully a bios fix will sort, otherwise a new keyboard again is in order.
Svet, i also found this thread on the forum. User with a z97 Gaming board with the same issue. Bios fix sorted it.

Maybe this will help.

Hi,
Yes both are compatible.
What is your power supply?
Also did you try any different cable for video between GPU and TV/monitor? Maybe try different monitor too.
Hello ah, so the card and the MoBo are compatible? thats great!
PSU is Corsair CX750M 750W ATX 80+ Bronze PC Power Supply
also i will try a newer monitor that just has a DVI wire rather than using a converter -

I understand you aren't using Linux, but this might be helpful....

In particular, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1321421/comments/21
Apparently there is an issue with the Intel PCHs and this audio card specifically. I'm not sure it's 100% related, but I figure it's worth mentioning.
Possibly this is also related: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2027573&p=12109016#post12109016
It sounds like there is an interrupt issue that could possibly be solved by not allowing the CPU to change C-States.
Or it could properly be solved via drivers I believe.
I would contact Realtek about the issue.
Sorry but i can't understand this solution. -
H97 Gaming 3 : Booting issue (A2)
Hello,
here's my config :
H97 Gaming 3 motherboard (bios 1.6)
MSI GTX 750 Ti Twin Frozr Gaming
8 GB Ram (Kingston)
1 SSD CRUCIAL 128Go
1 Western Digital Black Edition 1 To
1 Western Digital Green Edition 4 To
1 BD-R Writer
650W corsair power supply
When I power on, the bios still displaying A2.
If I disconnect any hard disk the power on, then it boot up.
Then I connect all the disk and boot up. It will boot up correctly only 1 time.
On the next reboot, it will hang with A2 error.
All the disk (and BD-R) are working fine together on another motherboard (asus P7P55d)
If I clear the bios, then it boots fine only 1 time after displaying that the bios was resetted.
On the next boot, it hang with A2 error.
Don't know how to solve it ... Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks.Quote from: cyril.lamy on 08-December-14, 14:16:15
If I reset the bios on the motherboard, on the next boot I have a warning displaying that it was resetted. But I can boot normally just after that (butjust one time, On the next reboot, it hangs again).
Did you try this without the drives and with only one stick of ram? -
H97 Gaming 3 MS-7918 vs. Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 TI
Hellou Hellou
Firstly my Speccs_
Motherboard:
H97 Gaming 3 MS-7918
msi.com/product/mb/H97-GAMING-3.html#hero-specification
Graphic Card
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 TI
msi.com/product/vga/N750Ti-TF-2GD5OC.html#hero-specification
Is this two Supported i mean is that Motherboard Supported to my Graphic Card.
I mean that PCI 16X 3.0 Express thing.
Because i have impossible to get those to work? The game Crashes when i am playing and it's very laggish and pixels are messed.
Motherboard is NEW and Graphic Card is 1-2 months old.
I have tryet everything. New drivers to old drivers.
So is the Graphic card broken or is it that Motherboard is not supporting that Graphic Card?
Thank you very muh from FinlandOookkey good to know this that it's supported.
Then i think that Graphic card is broken. Have to send it back to the shop where i bought it and get new one.
Problem was that the Graphic card is not working. It's crashing when playing games or starting to play games.
Some times there comes message " nvidia kernel mode driver stopped responding "
Comes black screen, but i can go to desktop ctrl alt delete to shut down the game.
Right now i use older Graphic card "Geforce GTX 460" and it's working very good with the mother board.
Or it's possible, that i have do something to the graphic card to get it to work. Overclocking or something, because the Default settings aren't working.. because right know it's not handelling the job :D -

New H97 Gaming 3 will not POST with i5 4690 - Need an old CPU to reflash BIOS?
I just finished assembling my new computer with an i5 4690, H97 Gaming 3, 8GB Kingston DDR3 RAM, 600W PSU. I ordered everything from Amazon a week ago.
When I turn it on, it does not POST or beep, it just power cycles every few seconds. I don't know what BIOS version it has because nothing shows on the screen. I believe I an old version of the BIOS that is incompatible with the i5 4690 but I need the CPU to work to update the BIOS..
I'm not sure I am reading the compatibility list correctly. Are CPUs listed as "7918v10.zip" working on stock BIOS?
msi.com/support/mb/H97-GAMING-3.html#support-cpu
I will install an old CPU, reflash BIOS with current version, and replace the CPU with my i5 4690.
I read on Tom's Hardware that the Pentium G3258 is compatible with stock BIOS. Is this true?Quote from: nealshireman7 on 21-February-15, 22:34:27

Alright so I'm kind of confused about this, I have an i7 4790 and I heard that using OC Genie I can use it to the max, ofc I cant get far beyond the turbo clock but still, and so I've understood that I can hit a button that says OCgenie on it, on my mobo and it will activate, so I opened up my pc and looked around for like 10 minutes and found no OCgenie button, I've also seen that there is an OCgenie option in the bios, which confuses me even more, can someone please explain to me what exactly this OCgenie thing is? Sorry if this sounds stuped but this is actually my first gaming PC (I got it a few weeks ago) and I played on laptops until now I'm not so used to actually playing around with my motherboard and stuff.
There is no cpu oc possible with any H97 chipset board as Intel prohibits that. OC Genie can only accelerate the igpu of the processor. Besides your cpu wouldn't allow any "oc" beyond the turbo using all cores (3.8GHz) anyway. If you want to oc you need to buy a K cpu and a Z97 chipset board.

M.2 for MSI H97 Gaming 3
planning to buy Crucial m550 M.2 , is there any incompatibility? will everything be fine?
Everything will work fine, no compatibility issues to be expected. Just note that Crucial M550 will offer the same performance no matter the connection. So the M.2 version won't be faster than the SATA version as it uses the same controler that can't take advantage of the PCI-E connection.

MSI H97 Network "Stutter Frame" Issues
Hello all, I've recent purchased a brand new gaming rig and have had some issues with any online game. The notorious "stutter frame" has been killing me slowly for the past week. I've tried several different drivers for my Killer e2200 NIC, and none have seemed to solve the problem. I've even taken the step and tried installing the driver without the software suite, and still no luck. All of my firewalls are off, no antivirus running. Tried everything I could think of and nothing seems to stick. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated so I can continue my online gaming. Just as a note, I can run any game that is not online PERFECTLY, the latest one is Far Cry 4 on ultra settings.

So my guess is its something hardware related, after watching closely when the lag occurs, i noticed this http://imgur.com/jkB6GWO
Also notice the weird spikes
Not sure if that can help explain anything as to what is happening, because I honestly have no clue. Help would be greatly appreciated
Someone is in Auberdine......lord it's been forever since I played WoW....met my wife playing it (not kidding, at all).
Can you download, install, and have MSI Afterburner running in the background? It has a display that can show what the GPU/memory clocks are while gaming and it would be a good indication of what the problem is. It would help eliminate or pinpoint the GPU as the possible problem.
I guess my other real question is, does the stutter only happen in games that require the internet in order to be played? -
Ask for help: NEW PC (MSI H97 Gaming3) would not boot
Dear all, I am skilled computer person. I my life I did build many computers. But this time I have an issue with power up and boot.
I have components:
1) new MSI mainboard H97 Gaming 3
2) new INTEL CPU Core i5 4460 BOX with default fan and heatsink
3) new MSI VGA 285 R9 (working in other computer so VGA is OK)
4) new 1600 MHz RAM ADATA CL9 2x4GB set. I also tried RIPJAWS CL7 2x4GB 1600MHz
To be exact I did test these two RAM sets: RIPJAWS G.SKILL F3-1280CL7D-8GBXM and ADATA AX3U1600W4G9-DMV CL9.
5) new 700W power source 90+ efficiency. I tried other Power source (got same error with MSI H97) which works in other computer, so the issue does not seem to be the power source.
This is the behaving of the new system: on Power ON the all componets switch on, fan rotate the Sound Boost light up in red, but all run only for 3s and than automatically switch off. After 2s it automatically start again and switch on for 3s and again switch off and on again and again and again same in cyrcle. When I push Power off button for 5s it completely power Off. The Debug LED blink for 16x times.
I tried to power on without the VGA MSI 285 R9. Same issue as with VGA pluged in.
When I put the RAM out, the computer starts and buzzer beep like there is no RAM, so normal behaving. But with RAM inserted it behaves strange. I did test two set of RAM with CL7 and CL9 all 1600 MHz. Is there any limitation for 1600MHz and CL ? Should I try 10CL or 11CL ? Or limitation in 2x4GB sets? I did not find any such information in any manual for the H97 Gaming 3 board.
I tried to reset the BIOS by shorten the pins, has no effect on the problem.
I was thinking about some low fan rotation protection but I do not think this should be a problem?
I can not find anywhere the debug LED coder for H97. There is no LED display like Z97 has, only one single led that blinks. In my case blinked 16x.
Can you help me? What can be wrong and prevents normal boot?
Thank you a lot
OttoI have read this post https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=252119.0
there is about a hard plug of the 24pin power connector to the board. In my case the 24pin connector is also very hard to plug into the board. But I tried to plug it without damaging the board by force. So it should fit inside. But I will try to check again.
