Hack Default Icons

Hi,
I wonder if there is any possibility to hack default icons for such elements as the tree element, since I am using my custom skin family with own-created CSS files;
And if yes, how could this be done?
Thanks in prior

I have migrated my application to JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, now can anyone instruct or help me how is it possible to apply custom icons on Tree element, instead of default ones?

why not? use LiteIcon then. it's free and is MUCH safer than mucking with system files by hand. if you insist you can do it as follows. go to /system/library/coreservices. control-click on coretypes.bundle and select "show package contents". go to contents-> resources. change the file GenericFolderIcon.icns with your own .icns file. back up the original bundle first.

• Screwed up my default icons with CandyBar - how to get 'em back??

Hi,
Okay, this was really dumb of me, I know - please be gentle...
I registered Shapeshifter a couple of weeks ago and used it to change my theme and system icons to my liking.
Then, today, I downloaded the CandyBar demo to see what that would do. Bad idea. I found that the Finder would display the CandyBar icons if ShapeShifter's icon setting was set to Aqua Default. (Seems that they change the icons in different ways.) At some point, Candy Bar complained that some of my icons weren't the system defaults and what did I want to do about the default backup? Whatever I did wasn't smart, because now I cannot get back to the Aqua System defaults. When I try to restore from CandyBar, it complains that it doesn't have the backup record. And when I try Aqua Defaults in Shapeshifter, it displays a mish-mash of "real" OX systems and (mostly) icons from the Icontainer that I installed via CandyBar.
Where do the default Aqua icons reside, anyway? And is there any way to get back to them short of installing a clean system folder? Hope this makes sense...
Thanks in advance,

Well, I've thought of doing an "Archive and Install," which would give me a fresh "System" folder but leave my current accounts, Internet settings and email intact, and presumably, get all my default icons back. But then you have to laboriously transfer over a lot of Application Support files for your installed, 3rd-party apps, which can take hours. At this point, I have only a handful of messed up icons, and I'm thinking that I may be better off living with it until Leopard comes along and I can make a fresh start that way. What's so frustrating is that replacing that CoreTypes.bundle got nearly all my Aqua defaults back - but why are those few that won't revert so stubborn??
I should add that I'm glad I didn't buy CandyBar. It seems to mess with your System folder in a way that Unsanity's "Shapeshifter" does not.
Take care,
Steve

• Changing the default icon of a af:inputDate component

Hi,
I want to change the icon of an af:inputDate component.
I discovered two solutions, but they are imcomplete solution.
Solution 1:
af|inputDate::launch-icon-style{
background-image: url("../images/icone_calendario_menor.gif");
af|inputDate::launch-icon-style:hover{
background-image: url("../images/icone_calendario_menor.gif");
af|inputDate::launch-icon-style:active{
background-image: url("../images/icone_calendario_menor.gif");
Problem: When I press the icon whith the mouse button and wait still appear a default icon while mouse button is pressioned.
Solution 2:
af|inputDate::launch-icon{
content: url("../images/icone_calendario_menor.gif");
width: 16 px;
height: 16 px;
af|inputDate::launch-icon:rtl{
content: url("../images/icone_calendario_menor.gif");
width: 16 px;
height: 16 px;
Problem: This solution works on Internet Explorer, but in Mozilla Firefox the new icon cover partially the default image but still possible to see a piece of the defaul icon.
Observation: My new icon is 16 x 16 pixels.
I believe that the solution 1 is better, but i think is missing a piece of code, there is a billion of icon states, core, busy, compact, depressed, selected , etc.
Thanks,

• Change the default icon for unsatisfied node

Is it possible to change the default icon for the unsatisfied node (unsatisfied indicator). I have checked the UI content element with the same name, but it does not have the source file setting in it, so I guess it is hard coded. I tried to change the source file with the name unsatisfied_status.gif to a different image and it works, but this will be a system wide change. I want to do this as a model specific change. Has anyone done this before? Thanks in advance.
Cheers,

Did you try changing image name in UI edit page?
UI edit page lists few images which can be changed for each UI, like unsatisfied indicator, logic status icons etc.

• Apple Web Site Default Icon, Gone..

Hi There,
I seem to have tossed my Apple Web Site Default Icon..
I remember seeing the puff of smoke which means I moved it a little to far, and now I'd like to get it back.
You know the one, it looks like an A, or an @ on a spring or something..
Any help would be great..
Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric
you can make a new one for any website, not just Apple's....while you're on the webpage you want, click & drag the icon in the address to the dock, the area near the trash where your original one was.
These 'web internet locations' can also be dragged to the desktop, or any folder you want.

• How to Retrieve YouTube default icon from iPad?

Hello iPad users.. would you like to lend some help on how you can retrieve the YouTube default icon from iPad? I no longer see it in my homescreen which I was wondering why... I would like to retrieve it. I did go to the App store to find it but the YouTube app from Google is very small and when you push 2x its pixelated.
The YouTube app coming from iPad which was installed right before you buy it was the one I am looking for and I can't seem to find it.. Please I need your help and thanks so much for any assistance you can give..
Blessings..
PS I have the iPad 3 version

iOS 6 no longer has the native YouTube app. All there is (for now) is the iPhone version that you found. Supposedly Google is working on an iPad version of this app.

• Web Gallery - default icon when viewing

I would like to know why I have default image "clown fish" used for my posted web gallery albums. Shouldn't there be a image selected from the ablum(s).

MJC:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. On password protected galleries only the default image is possible. That's part of the privacy feature. On non password protected galleries just drag the image you want for the default icon onto the icon next to the gallery title in iPhoto and republish.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

• Help!!! I deleted my default icon sets

OMG I just deleted my default icon set!!!
I accidentally overwritten all of them on candybar 2.6..!!! what should I do? Is there any way to restore it without re-installing MacOSX???
I changed my default aqua theme with Shapeshifter. then I decided that I don't like the icons set, so what I should've done is reset it first to default aqua icon set in Shapeshifter. But I didn't, I tried to reset it and apply a new one via Candybar.
So when I opened Candybar, a message came up telling if I want to overwrite the current icon set as my default. Stupidly, I pressed yes!!! Now this new icon set becomes my default aqua set, even if I use the restore defalut option in Candybar, it loads this new set!!!
I did search on spotlight on "icons" somehow all my default icon are stored in candybar application support folder?? can anyone tell me where MacOS store the icon files?

I'm not sure, but I have the feeling your Mac wouldn't like that very much. Reaching deep down into the system and plucking part of it out while it's running is a recipe for disaster. Also, while there are many icons there, not all are in CoreTypes.bundle. Some like Finder, Dock, HelpViewer are in CoreServices folder.
I would say to try the the 10.4.6 Stand Alone Combo Updater.
Since this is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. But since these icons were changed with the apps you used, I doubt that an update would change them back.
I would live with the icons you have until we can find a good solution. If you really can't bear it you could "archive & install" and then reapply the 10.4.6 Combo Update.
What about the "Previous System" folder you have from the old archive & install? Were you able to get to the old CoreServices and dig out any icons there?

• Regression with tree.iconFunction: default icons have disapperead

I have a tree control, with icon function redifined.
However, for some items, I would like to use default tree
icons (folder, sheet,...)
In Flex 1.5, if returned null from the iconFunction, the
default icon was displayed.
In Flex 2.0, this does not work anymore. The doc says that
the icons are in Assets.swf, but how to reference and embed them in
my application ?

Here's a code snippet of one way to set Tree's icons:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
width="600" height="600">
<mx:Script>

{ label:"DividedBoxClasses", children:
{ label:"BoxDivider", data:"BoxDivider.as" }
{ label:"GridClasses", children:

]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:Tree dataProvider="{treeArray}"
disclosureClosedIcon="{redU}" />
</mx:Application>
There's a a style property mapping to each Tree icon (ex:
folderOpenIcon, defaultLeafIcon).
Hope that helps,

In Windows 7, firefox seems to revert to the default icon (unknown as opposed to the firefox symbol) when I delete the desktop shortcut. This is rather aesthetically displeasing. I can not find much help for this online.

You can try to clear the Windows icon cache.
#Open the Task Manager (Shift+Ctrl+ESC)
#In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
#Open the file picker via "File > New Task (Run)" and click the Browse button.
#Type or Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local in the File name field (AppData is a hidden folder).
#Select the file IconCache.db and use Delete in the right-click context menu to delete the file.
#After the IconCache.db has been deleted, start a new explorer.exe process via "File > New Task" to get the desktop and Taskbar back.
It is possible that the file IconCache.db is a hidden file.

• Need to replace default icon for LIKE functionality

We are using Document Viewer Taskflow & we would like to have 'LIKE' default star icon replaced by the text 'LIKE' or icon of our choice (e.g. like thumbs up image). Please suggest.
I have already checked the OOTB TF customization & the default icon is coming from some custom tag library implementation. PFB the details for rendering like icon in OOTB:
Library Name: Webcenter Document Library Service View
TF: oracle/webcenter/doclib/view/jsf/taskflows/docViewer/documentViewer.xml
JSFF: oracle/webcenter/doclib/view/jsf/taskflows/docViewer/viewer.jsff
Tag lib: xmlns:likes="http://xmlns.oracle.com/webcenter/likes"
Implementation:
<likes:likesLink id="likesLnk" rendered="#{pageFlowScope.docViewer.likesRendered}" serviceId="#{pageFlowScope.docViewer.item.serviceId}" objectType="#{pageFlowScope.docViewer.item.resourceType}" objectId="#{pageFlowScope.docViewer.item.resourceId}" scopeId="#{pageFlowScope.docViewer.item.scope != null ? pageFlowScope.docViewer.item.scope.GUID : null}" myLike="#{pageFlowScope.docViewer.item.attrs.myLike}" likesCount="#{pageFlowScope.docViewer.item.attrs.likesCount}"/>

Setting verbose="true" in the likesLink tag will render the "Like" label instead of the icon.
Just in case you are interested, the likesLink tag is a declarative component - /oracle/webcenter/likes/internal/view/taglib/likesLink.jspx
