Hacked and hacked off - why is there no assistance!?

My account has been hacked. They have changed my password, primary contact address, the currency and my ID name!All there are two pieces of advice I am getting from Skype:1 - Fill in the on-line form so they can verify who I am.  There are 16 questions in the form! One of which is which month and year did you start your account.  WHO KNOWS THAT? If you call a bank a raise a security issue they cancel your card.  Why won't SKYPE freeze my account until this has been resolved? The hackers have stolen my identity and can pass themselves off as me and commit more fraud by contacting my contacts.  They can solicit all sorts of information from them, pretending to be me. I cannot successfully fill in all the answers to the form and that is it, no other option.  Skype (ironically) cannot call me to discuss the issue! There is no on-line chat facility.  The only help I have is the constant loop of fill in the impossible form!! I was originally told to fill the in the form as many times as I needed to, until I get the answers right.  I have since been told that if I make more than 2 incorrect submissions my account is irrevocably irretrievable.2- The second advise is to open a new account and forget about the other account!  But this is FRAUD! They have access to my personal data AND they have stolen my identity.I am shocked that there is not an immediate response to my issue and that I have had to beg for some help and still I have none.If someone comes on here and tells me to fill in the form with data from over 10 years ago, don't.

There is a sociological/philosophical issue here. As, when virtual monopoly corps reach a scale where they near ubiquitousness; being cut off by them due to their own issues, can be a serious detriment to one's life through no fault of one's own. In many parts of the world, access to the web is a human right. Cutting innocent people off permanently due to a combination of policy error and 3rd party criminal activity does seem outrageous. At what point will it be a human right that corporations of a certain scale, are required to make an attempt to redress genuine issues such as that raised in this thread? Also, an inability to 'clear one's name' implicitly denies any measure of justice. Likewise, surely a lingering 'association' with criminal activity (conducted on one's account), could not just cause a user potentially serious problems, but could make security services (inc Skype's own) job much harder by creating a far bigger pool of (often innocent) 'suspects' in which criminals can better hide. Much harder to find the needle in a needlessly inflated haystack. Then there is the issue of undoing the damage. If criminals make money by jacking accounts, if you cannot access those accounts to rectify any issue, surely the criminals keep can keep more of the money made (or saved by using our accounts to comminicate/conduct scams at almost no cost to them). That in itself, if something could be done but is not, could be considered close to assisting crims at the expense of customers, sec servs, and indeed Skype itself when good customers are injured by situations like this and forced against their will to other services - if consumers are fortunate enough to have an alternative service available at all. Otherwise, they are just left disadvantaged. To end on a constructive point. Skype, please help us out here. And lose the question about date account opened. Almost no-one after a decade will be able to anwer that, even to the right year without just guessing. And a year would be so vague as to be useless as a sec Q anyway. Seems that hackers would be more likely to be able to correctly answer that Q than a long-term customer.

    Yes. tried the one ram stick, no go.  I have been trying to boot off/install the windows 7 disk but am unable to get to the point where windows starts installing after its gathering information portion of the install.  I can get to the disk selection screen of the install with the WD HD on SATA port 2 but then get the "cant install messages" when I try to select the Vertex 3.  Yes I can see the Vertex 3 Drive as well as the WD drive at this point.  some times I have to hit "scan" a couple of times.

    Not really
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

    I'd like to change the colors in Stickies as I have them hanging around on my display for a while. Can you do this? If not, why is there a "Show Color" tab in Stickies under the Font menu?

    In Mavericks, click on any sticky and then from the Sticky menu, choose color and set it. Stickies will only remain on your display as long as the application itself is running. You might consider dragging /Application/Stickies to your Dock. Right click on the Stickies Dock icon and you will notice Options.
    You can make Stickies an open at login item (this is enabled in System Preferences > Users & Groups> Login Items). Each time you startup your Mac, your stickies will appear on your display. You may also wish to select Keep In Dock. Any time that you want the Stickies off your display, you simply right-click on its Dock icon and select Quit. You can choose whether they float over other windows, and can also arrange them in specific order.
    The Show Colors menu item brings up the colors palette that allows you to change the font color in selected Sticky note text.

    Only if it's powered on at some point, Find My iPhone will be able to make note of it's last position.
    There's no way to track an electronic device that is powered off, it's just like trying to track a book.

    The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Why is there no esay way to delete emails on ipad and iphone?  Why is there no junk mail setting for ipad and iphone? If there is let me know, if not can I make a suggest that it be developed as an APP.   Can't believe this opportunity [problem] has not been address before now.  Love to hear comments... or is it just me...

    To delete emails you just wipe from right to left on a particular email and you will see the delete button.  Or you can you the trash icon on the bottom of the emails to delete it.
    Two very easy options.  Not sure what problem your having.

    Can you be more specific? What player do you have? Are the black lines on the screen?
    Try updating the firmware first, if that doesn't help it may be best to contact Customer Support for assistance.

    Thanks for the question.  If you have updated to Yosemite, then the Apple Logo with the status bar is the expected behavior for when the computer starts up.  However, the powering off is not supposed to be happening ... so here are some steps to take if your MacBook Air won't turn on.

  • If i am the only user and owner of my macbook, then why are there 78 users in the directory editor?

    Hi guys just wanted to know little bit about the open directory as my MacBook Pro has been playing up on and off at least a couple of years.  I have been advised by Apple over the phone or as well as over the genius bar in trying to get my mac to behave.  This normally solves whatever problem that has been happening at the time. "Great, job done!"...  Not so much, as another problem eventually shows it's ugly pixelated face again and then we end up going round the Infinite loop ride one more time...  And this ride ain't always free!  I have forked out about £600 on it so far and it wasn't cheap in the beginning!  Anyway I have just got off the ride and before I get punched by a plyst to get back on I would rather learn about the things I don't understand so hopefully I can resolve the matter without hair loss.  So my main question so far is why are there 78 user names (most of which are computer related names, not all) are found in Directory Utility?  I do not play games on my Mac it is mainly used for media such as iPhoto, iTunes, pages, mail and surfing the net.  So which out these 78 users do I select as a server?

    None. It's normal. Make no modifications.
    It's not clear what trouble you are experiencing, or if anything is wrong at all. If your Mac is not behaving as you expect it should, describe what's wrong in as much detail as possible.
    Include all relevant details regarding your MacBook Pro starting with which one of its three dozen models you have. Posting the results of EtreCheck will help with that. Read about it here.

  • I set up Icloud, now when I try to listen to a song on my ipone 5s it asks me if I want to "download over cellular"? and additional fees may apply.  I've already bought this music, why would there be any more fees?

    I bought my first Iphone - the Iphone S about a month ago.  I was able to listen to music no problem.  I recently figured out how to get my photos off of my phone and on to my PC, but was prompted to sign up for ICloud to do it.  Now when I try to listen to music on my phone, it asks me to download it from Icloud and asks "download over cellular"?  "Additional fees may apply when downloading phones over cellular".  I've already bought all my music, why would there be more fees and shouldn't ICloud have mentioned this?  Seems I need to take a class just to figure all this out.

    The clouds you see next to your music on the device and iCloud are two different things. When your music is not on your device it is in iTunes in the Cloud. Not the same thing as iCloud which is used to sync information between devices and house backups of your device contents. So that little cloud you see next to your songs is telling you that the music is not on your device. That's why it is giving you the message - because when you click on it, it is attempting to download it to your device.
    What may have happened is when you imported your photos to the PC, you may have sync'd your device via iTunes, and you did not have the Sync Music option checked in your device Profile screen.
    Hook up your device to your PC and open iTunes. Make sure the sidebar is showing (Control+S if you cannot see the sidebar with Devices listed), and click on your device to open the Device Profile screens to the right. Click on the Music tab, and make sure that the Sync All Music or Sync Selected Music box is checked. If you have Sync Selected Music checked, then below that, make sure you check all music that you want on your device. Then click on SYNC at the bottom (or APPLY).
    Once you have successfully sync'd your music to your device, you will no longer see the cloud next to the songs, and you also will no longer get a message since you will have the songs physically on your device and not in iTunes in the Cloud.
