Hacked Apple Accounts

Hi. Sorry but I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum or not but have some questions regarding hacked accounts.
I was wondering what is the likelihood that your Apple ID can be used for hacking activities and what's the worse that can happen if your account gets hacked into?
I've read how hackers can run up hundreds in bills using itunes under your apple accounts.
I have two apple ID accounts and would like to delete them but I don't think Apple will let me. What's the best way to make sure that my account never gets hacked into? I've already changed my info in one of my apple accounts so that none of it can be traced to any of my real personal information (entering gibberish and a fake email address). I also am not registered with Itunes. Can people still use my apple ID for fraudulent activities (such as purchasing apple products or something)? I don't have any credit card info in these accounts by the way. Just my full name, address, phone, etc.
If someone could explain/clarify these issues to me, that'd be great.
Thanks.

I don't really see how they could do much of anything. I suppose they could pretend to be you and post here on the forums.
Best of luck.

You won't be able to remove it without the password.  If you can't reset it yourself, contact the Apple account security team for your country for assistance: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security.  If your country isn't listed, try contacting iTunes store support: https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • Someone is trying to hack into my Apple account

I just wanted to make mention of some forum questions I saw similar from earlier, like in June and July. It is now mid-October.
In the past couple weeks, on at least 3 occassions, I have received similar messages from apple, probably 3 each occassion.
    Hello.
To reset your Apple ID security questions and answers, simply click the link below. It will take you to a web page where you can create a new set of security questions and answers.
Please note that the link will expire three hours after this email was sent.

Didn’t request to reset your security information? Someone may be attempting to claim c•••••@gmx.net as their own Apple ID. Please go to appleid.apple.com to reset your password immediately.

    Thanks,
    Apple Support
They have all referenced the same c******@gmx.net mail adddress. Two of the 3 messages I received last night were in German.
First time: I have a strong, unique password on my appleid account:  a password more than 16 random upper/lower alpha, numeric and symbols, I keep in a password safe application.
The second time I got these messages last weekend, I added 2-step authentication to my Apple account.
Last night, after getting more regarding my challenge questions, I got concerned, so I changed my strong password to another, in case they had acquired my password when Apple's Developer servers got hacked in the recent past.
As far as I can tell, I am doing everything "right" about creating, using and protecting my account.
But do you know what a pain in the rear end this is, to change a single appleid password? Each of my devices - 2 macs, iPad, iPhone - I have to change the iCloud login under settings. I have to change the logins in third party apps - my email program for example. This is a freaking nightmare.
And what really ****** me off is you hear nothing from Apple on this. They don't mention squat about what got hacked, and who's vulnerable. But someone got a hold of my account some how and is trying to complete the job and break into it.
Is there something else I should do?

Is there something else I should do?
You are doing everything right and you haven't been hacked. The only action you have not yet taken is to change your Apple ID.
It is very likely that someone is convinced your Apple ID is really theirs, and they're repeatedly attempting to reset their password. They click on the link to send an email to have it reset. You get the email with the link to reset it. If you did not request your password to be reset, the obvious thing to do is to ignore it.
Far from concluding this is a security flaw, it validates Apple's account security. By not responding to the email, you effectively prevented whoever is initiating the password reset request from getting any further.
It's a good idea to change your Apple ID password once in a while, but you do not have to change your password every time you get an email like that. Ignore it, but you will continue to get the email every time some hapless individual thinks your email address is their Apple ID. This can occur to anyone, as long as Apple uses email addresses for Apple IDs.
Safeguard your Apple ID just like you would any other personal information. It's probably not a good idea to use the usual email address you publicly use.

Your iOS device backup only includes data and settings stored on your device. It doesn’t include data already stored in iCloud, for example contacts, calendars, bookmarks, mail messages, notes, shared photo albums, iCloud Photo Library beta, My Photo Stream, and documents you save in iCloud using iOS apps and Mac apps.

  • HT2534 Hacker got my firsts email I was able to change / createu new apple account.    I can not get apps to change account to new apple account even though it shows it in settings .  How can I fix this? but

My first apple account was email was hacked.  I needed to create a new one.  That was fine I did. I synch it. All music is fine, settings shows new account.  However, problem...........please help my apps still has old account it has been deactivated so I can't download the password to make it work.  I need apps to change to new email account that shows in settings !   HELP!!!!! Does anyone know how to fix this ?

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.

  • Someones hacking my apple account. I now have a non apple phone and I would like to cancel my account?

Twice in the last month someone has been logging in to my apple account. I have changed the password but it doesnt seem to help. I wrecked my old iphone and now have a non apple phone and would like to eliminate my apple account. How do I do this?

I am puzzled by this. The laptop doesn't need the Apple ID - but iTunes does. I could be missing something but ....
Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

  • I need to erase the contents of my phone and restore to factory settings. Does anybody know how to save your texts so you don't lose them?  Can I back those up to iCloud?  My phone was very likely hacked (Apple's advice was to call the police!)

"I need to erase the contents of my phone and restore to factory settings. Does anybody know how to save your texts so you don't lose them?  Can I back those up to iCloud?  My phone was very likely hacked (Apple's advice was to call the police!)"
That was all I could put in the initial "box."  Then it brought me to this page with instructions on how to write a good sentence.
    Proceeding ...
After going back and forth between Apple, AT&T and the police (all telling me to go to the other two) I took AT&Ts suggestion and got a new number. One tech warned against doing a backup, especially on my Mac, saying if my phone had been hacked then whatever bug was there would then invade my computer. But nobody knows how to determine if the phone has been hacked or a virus was planted there. Unfortunately I know who would have reason to do such a thing and all I can say is that he is at the top technologically and could easily do it. Almost impossible to prove, however.
So I need to preserve my text messages and my emails as well. I backed up my photos to that Microsoft product (One-Drive) and it froze (Surprise, Surprise) with four short videos to go, and no way of stopping that (when I tried it crashed repeatedly) so I'm in crisis mode here.
    Help ...
    Running 8.0 on 5S
    Thanks!

Betty I don't know if you fixed your hacking problem but I feel your pain. I've seen some strange things going on between my iMac and my iPhone and Apple has told me the same thing, call the police which I have done. The hackers have stole 500.00 out of my checking account have access to every internet account I use and no matter how often I change the password their right back on the account. I closed my FB account 3 times only to have someone reopen it. Right now I've got a link in my reading list (Safari) that if I click on it, it allows me to log onto my FB account anonymously.
I've seen a green folder come out of no where while I was trying to delete my passwords out of keychain when that green folder was put into the key chain I was immediately locked out. I than went into system preferences to try to make changes to my security settings, when I clicked on the icon it wouldn't open. I've seen log files of automator receiving commands and sending out my personal information thats on my computer.
I have a legitamate program called iExplorer that allows you to look at the contents of your iPhone back ups and saw a transaction someone made at the Apple store for some full length movies, some albums, ibooks and other apps but when I called the iTunes store and they said none of those items were showing up on my account. If their not on my account how can they be on my iPhone 6? One day someone was using my gmail account and unknowingly used google maps to search for an Italian restaurant, than a Mexican restaurant than a coffee shop and their search showed up on my iPhone but I didn't have my gmail account installed on my iPhone 6. Using my computer I logged onto my gmail account and looked at the maps history and sure enough there were the searches when I'd hover my curser over the link it gave me the longitude and latitude of the where the hacker was when he was using google maps. I know whoever reads this thinks Im crazy but I've documented everything and can prove the things that I have mentioned in this post actually happened.
One day I had my laptop (pc) and my iMac next to each other as I was using both. when I clicked on airport it showed that my laptop and my iMac had made a connection and were actually communicating with each other. I know I didn't do it I don't know how. The iMac was logged into my iCloud account while my laptop wasn't. I have formatted my iPhone at least a dozen times, Apple and an Apple retailer have formatted my hard drive not to mention the numerous times I have formatted it but the hackers keep getting on my devices. Im formatting my lap top at this very second because during the course of the night I left the ethernet cable plugged into it and they locked me out of my c: drive, and configured the system so I can't download any updates from Microsoft, overtime I type in www.microsoft.com it changes to ww38.microsoft.com which takes me to a blank page. I right clicked on the page I was redirected to and read the java script and couldn't believe that someone had actually configured Internet Explorer to redirect me to a blank page when I tried to go to Microsoft. Apples answer to all this is there was nothing wrong with my iPhone or my iMac and if I thought there was a problem to call the police which I have done.
Theres no doubt the hackers are reading this while I type it or will read it and I simply don't care anymore. I no longer email anyone, don't use my iCloud account and have taken precautions to protect my credit but if I ever find out who has invaded my privacy to this extreme the police are going to want to talk to me because Im going to hurt them like they've never been hurt before

  • How can I delete my Apple account

Par for the course with so many companies - "Delete My Account" is virtually impossible to find. How can I delete my Apple account? I don't want yet another account that people can hack and buy stuff fraudulently. Thanks. But really, these companies should be forced to let people know how they can delete accounts if&when they want to.

I wholeheartedly agree. It seems rather pedestrian given that *supposedly* lesser sites/brands allow 'opting out gracefully' at any time - most with the ability to scrub everything clean and start again.
It's annoying enough that Apple fail to contribute much practical help here, but to obfuscate the fact it's also impossible to leave is rather unbecoming to say the least - just see the number of questions on account deletion etc.
So in short then: spending 1000s of $£¥€ or whatever on the 'best tech' on the planet and still no ability to do a basic account closure (or even a trace of Blu-Ray support even)...
Nevermind. Clearly Apple feel that life in "The Village" is just so great that who in their right mind would want to go.
Now repeat after me: "YOU ARE NOT A PERSON - YOU ARE NUMBER SIX!!"
P.S. I wonder what the UK ICO would have to say about this?

  • How can I delete a subscribed calendar, Hong Kong holidays from calendar on Ipad 4. This was inserted through a hacked gmail account.

I Have an ipad 4 with ios 7. Through clicking on a link sent in a hacked gmail account, a 'subscribed' calendar, named Hong Kong holidays has been inserted into my calendar. How do I delete this calendar and how does it affect my personal details?
    I have changed my password.
    THank you

    Hi Cigire34,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Are you syncing the iPad with a computer and do you see the account on your computer? It sounds like you may have Google Calendar account setup on your iPad, which will have to be deleted from settings or the Google site. The instructions in the following article should help.
iOS: Syncing multiple Google CalDAV calendars
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4372
After adding your Google Calendar account using Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account… > Other > Add CalDAV Account, the primary calendar will sync with your device.
To sync additional Google Calendars, you must configure them using this tool on the Google website. Note that you must log in to your Google account to access this page.
    Cheers!

  • Can't access Apple account

About a week ago I tired to go into my apple account to update apps on my iPhone, told me invalid password, tried it a few times, knowing I was doing it correctly and still got same message. Went onto my MacBook and tried to log into the iTunes store from iTunes, same problem. Went to forgotten password link, didn't email me anything and so tried to do the other option and enter personal details and it couldn't find any of my details. It is as if my account has been deleted. I have managed to log in using an old apple account I have used which didn't have any banking details attached etc.
My problem is I cannot update my existing apps on my iPhone or my iPad and I cannot access a series pass I bought with my account and still have episodes to download.
Has my account been hacked or deleted or disabled? Am not getting any messages  re the later just cannot find my account details.
I have emailed iTunes support three times now with no answer when they say it should oly take 24 hours.
I am at a loss as can't find a phone number to contact them with regards to this issue and really want my account back so I can update the apps I have paid for.
    Any ideas?

Download the Apple Store app. That might help. I don't know anything else that will help.
