I can't get FaceTime to call out or receive calls on my daughters iPod touch. I have set up a gmail account and apple ID using that gmail address and it is all verifie. When I try calling her iPod or calling out from the iPod it just rings a few times.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually. Can I still add stuff onto my two devices? And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only? Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices? Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

Music imported from a CD or another source
iTunes cannot transfer this media back to a computer. Make sure to back up your iTunes Library, or you can use iTunes Match2.

its to slow to connect..so i decided to run for diagnostic to know y if i cant connect to itunes eventhough i have account..heres the result:
Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
Basic connection to the store failed.
Connection attempt to Gracenote server was successful.
iTunes has never successfully accessed the iTunes Store.

I can't envision what yo are seeing.
If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Syncing an iDevice to a computer does not remove content from the computer.
Syncing an iDevice to a computer that it does not normally sync with will remove the content from that device.
If the media was acquired with a different Apple ID it is in no way linked to your Apple ID.
