HAD IT WITH DROID INCREDIBLE

I have had it with the Droid Incredible that I have have. I have been without phone service for 3 days now. Can't make or receive phone calls, no texts, phone constantly rebooting. Tech Support seems to think that it is not an issue but judging from the other post it is.
I have had the phone for about a year and a half now and for the past 2-3 months this has been happening. The weekend was the first time I have been without service for this extended amount of time. If I hear another person talking about hard and soft resets they can shove it. That *!*# don't work. I wish someone would finally acknowledge that there is a problem.

I understand your discontent; I would be frustrated if wasn't able to make/receive calls and messages. Have you tried reprogramming your phone? If not, please dial *228 and select option 1 to re-program your phone as this may resolve your concerns.

    No. The Android phones were really meant to be synched with "the cloud" and not a personal computer. As such the preferred mechanism is to synchronize your computer with the cloud and your phone with the cloud. For example, you'd setup iCal to sync with Google Calendar, and Addressbook to sync with Google Contacts, etc...
    That said, there's a 3rd party package called "MissingSync" that does synchronization of Android phones with OS X desktop applications (including things like Entourage). If you want to skip the could and go with more traditional desktop-phone synching, that's your best bet. MissingSync for Android should work with any Android phone.

        I love being able to send picture messages. Therefore, I am able to empathize with you and we can do all we can to get your pictures to download and send.
    Do you get an error when you try to view the picture?

  • Droid Incredible - Terrible Phone

    I'm really sad to say that the Droid Incredible has turned out to be a terrible phone.  I loved it for almost 18 months, then I started having "problems".  The problems I have been having started with the Google Navigation several months ago - this was my favorite feature of the phone.  The phone shut down in the middle of navigation when I was a few turns from my destination.  From there it has gotten steadily worse.  I took it to the Verizon store a the beginning of December when it went into a reboot loop - i.e. it shut down, then rebooted to the "eye" screen, then shut down again and went on an endless loop.  The nice people at the store did a factory reset for me.  At the time I did not know this was a common problem with Droid Incredible.  Now I know and have lost count of the number of factory resets I have done on the phone since early December - probably 8-10.  I just did another one today.  My phone has been usable for about 15 of the last 24 hours, but now my texting feature doesn't work at all.  That is a new development in the failures of this phone.  I have not used navigation in about 2 months because it reliably shuts my phone down.  Yesterday the simple Google directions feature made my phone shut down, again just a few turns from my destination.  Since early December I have probably had to reboot/restart my phone 30 or so times due to reboot loop.  When this does not work, I do some kind of cache partition clearing, and when that does not work is when I have to do factory reset.  I have searched these forums and see that the only recommendations Verizon has are to buy a new phone, buy a refurbished phone or next time buy insurance.  This is the first time in about 10 years I have been truly disappointed by Verizon.  The worst is when my phone is in a loop and nothing helps, I try to go online for support, but I can't get email support for that problem, they say I must call.  I CAN NOT CALL FROM A BROKEN PHONE.  I am planning on upgrading to the iPhone, but my full upgrade is not due until late April.  I am trying to trudge through with this terrible phone until then, but it is becoming nearly impossible.  It is simply unacceptable for a device that is supposed to be a contender to the highest rated smart phones to behave this way with no support and that the device does not last even a full 2 years.  I do realize that this is mostly an HTC issue, not a Verizon issue, but that doesn't make me any less frustrated.  It is also suspcious that there are no other posts on these issues here.  I guess that would be bad for business.  I am not a complainer, very seldom do I complain, but these major problems seem like they are being ignored or swept under the rug.

    I agree with you100%. I got this phone from my grandmother because she recently upgraded to the bionic. when i got the phone the sd card was fine. it showed pictures well, i could unmount the card and everything was ok. well i put my sd card in, pictures came up fine. well, i had to do an update and the card wouldn't read anymore. so i called ts and they troubleshot the phone. factory reset idk how many times. they sent another one. same thing. seems like after the update it wouldn't work. i have went thru three of those phones and i have this phone. oh did i mention that the sd card that came out of the phone and the one i was using worked in any other droid, multi-media phone, computer, whatever I put it in.                                                                                               

  • Verizon wouldnt let me change my order from Droid Incredible to Droid X

    I had ordered a Droid Incredible a month ago later finding out that the droid x was coming out.  I had cancelled the order about 2 weeks ago and got my refund back.  They also told me that i could go ahead and get a droid x now.  Well they told me that the day i cancelled it.  The customer service rep was wrong.  I cant upgrade my phone until my droid incredible order is completely cancelled through the warehouse department.  Now i have to wait for my ticket to go through which will take at least 3 days or wait for my incredible phone to get to me in 4 days and have to ship it back to them and wait another week for them to cancel the order.  So pretty much Verizon left out the important details of cancelling the phone.  I am beyond frustrated and this is the 3rd time that verizon has screwed me over.  they may have the best coverage but their customer service is horrible. i havent had a fully functioning phone in a year.

    I had the incredible on order also for over a month.  I ordered the X online Thursday 8:30 am and everything looked fine.  About an hour later I got an automated email that said the Incredible order had to be cancelled prior to the X order being processed.  It stated the process had begun but that it could take up to 72 hours.
    I was a little upset about that (as how can it take 3 days to cancel on order for something backordered 2 more weeks out) after waiting so long for the Incredible already.  I figured I wouldn't get my X on Friday.  I responded to the email (for what it was worth) expressing my displeasure in the 72 hours thing.
    Called about 8:30 pm to check status.  The X order had been processed about 2:30 pm but there was no tracking information.  Rep thought that was odd as it should have made the cutoff for overnight.  She said it would likely ship out Friday instead.
    Friday morning had a tracking email and it did indeed arrive that day. 
    Now it's about trying to get use to this phone - nothing like my LG flip that was 8 years old!  And Droid is A LOT bigger and heavier!

  • Droid Incredible 2 will not stay paired with 2011 Kia Optima

    My  Droid incredible 2 will not consistently stay paired with my 2011 Kia Optima Bluetooth.  Usually, the Kia will connect with the phone and media audio for a few seconds and then the phone disconnects with the media audio staying connected.  Also, when I do get the phone to connect to the Kia Optima, the car bluetooth cannot use the phone contact list to make calls and I I have to speak the phone numbers.  Any suggestions as to what I need to do?

            Its very frustrating to have Bluetooth pairing issues. I checked on the Kia website and the Incredible 2 is not listed as a compatible phone with their vehicles. Click here for their website to check phone compatibility. You may want to check with your dealership to see if they will be updating their vehicles with newer devices.

  • Droid incredible not syncing with Facebook

    I just purchased a Droid Incredible 3 days ago.  It will not sync with Facebook.  I can download the app and go there but I cannot update contacts.  I have gone into the menu settings and apps and it is not listed.  WHen I install it I get an error that says the service is not available.  I have done a factory reset and spoke with Tech support.  He told me that I was out of luck and that I would need to purchase a new phone to know for sure if it is a FB issue or a phone issue.  I am not going to pay another 300 dollars to find out.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Delete the app and redownload. Also, go into Facebook settings and turn on notifications.
    Also from the phones main Screen. MENU>SETTINGS> ACCOUNTS & SYNC, make sure Facebook is marked for syncing.

  • Droid incredible - help my "people" disappeared, had 230 contacts in the am, in the pm had only 7

    I have a Droid Incredible one week old.
    Yesterday morning my people/contacts were all in my phone, in the afternoon I was looking to call someone and could on find 7 contacts! I did not drop my phone, or delete (that I know of) anything other than e-mails.
    I have back-up assistant and all my contacts are there on-line (downloaded a cvs file just in case they disappeared too) I ran the Sync and - nothing happens 

    Could I get you to dial *228 send and option 1 on your device.  
    Then try syncing the contacts manually.
    From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located in the lower-left).
    Touch Settings.
    Touch Accounts & sync.
    Touch Backup Assistant.
    Touch  Sync now.
    We are currently investigating  issues with the Backup Assistant Website.

    My droid incredible has a funny glitch it streams perfect when it's plug-in or when the Display is on but you un-plug it or if the display goes off say i have it on for 10 minutes it'll play those ten min. then once the diplay dims out the skipping is On.
    Some of them Gremlins inside playing with my head i Guess it's got Gingerbread installed on it an i'm wondering if it's some what... the Cause of it
    Suggestions Any one:  i'm Open as i've ran out of them short of throwing it up against the Wall or stopping the heck out of it.  ... Naa! not gonna do it!  B33

    that is "supposed to be" how you set up a second account in the stock email program. The gmail is a whole seperate thing. but under "mail" you can set up multiple accounts. however, they will not each have their own mail icon. you'll have to go into "mail" and select the account that you want to view. other than this method, you may want to look into email apps that could do more of what you want.

  • Droid Incredible 2 won't turn on or charge, had this problem before...

    I have had this problem one or two other times, and it progressively got worse. First it froze with nothing on the screen, but the back-light was still on. I removed the battery and replaced it, and it worked fine. A few months later, it did this same thing, but the battery trick wasn't working, so i tried cleaning off the terminals, which did the trick but i still ended up doing a factory reset. This time, it doesn't seem to respond to anything. I cleaned the terminals, let it sit overnight just incase some weird demon got into it =P, and it still wont respond to either charging or the power button. My brother has the same phone, and I tried his battery and it didn't make a difference. I have never dropped the phone, got it wet, severely thrown it across a football feild, etc. It has been in an Otterbox case that has not even seen the likes of a floor. What else can I do? If i do take it back to Verizon will i be eligible for a replacement? (I do think this is some sort of manufacturor's defect, unless i contracted some strange virus from an app or something of that nature) Any help is appreciated!

    I had the same type problem - except I woke up to a completely dead phone, no damage, nothing, ever, I am really good at taking care of my cell phones, I guard them with my life because of their being so fragile.  I had the phone charging on my nightstand overnight as usual, and it will do nothing, took it to Verizon, they examined it, saw no signs of damage, just would not come on, it's just dead.  Never had any kind of problems like that with a phone before.  Plus they won't let me get the phone I want without paying full price for it.  I've been a Verizon customer since before it became Verizon! My phone has my life in it, I can do nothing, had to go back to a flip phone that I had with no date, and it's a dinosaur, an old razor~! I'm very dissapointed in Verizon not allowing me to upgrade before January 2013 - I am shopping around for another carrier and possibly even a no contract service - I've had it with trying to stick by companies and being loyal.  The first time I really needed them to help me out, they dropped me in the grease like a bad habit! There seems to be no other way to get around this.  The HTC Incr 2, just died for no reason at all.  I really am upset about this, I have to have a cell phone for work, I can never be without one! I'm very worried about even purchasing a phone for fear that it could happen again and then I would be really stuck, again with no phone and in a contract that won't let me upgrade without paying $600 to $700 for a smartphone that might do the same thing that this phone did!

  • How can I get music I purchased though Amazon on my Android device(droid incredible) to my IPad 2 without using a computer?

    I just got an iPad 2 a couple months ago, and I'm very eager to get my music collection purchased from Amazon to my device. I have had to get a replacement droid incredible and lost my login information for both my email and my amazon account. I have the music files stored on the SD card on my phone. I have the basic iPad 2, 16 GB, wifi, no 3G. I got an iPad to essentially replace my computer since it can't hold a charge anymore. I am almost due for an update with Verizon, so I would like to get an IPhone. However if I can't transfer my 100s of dollars worth of music, I'll have to suck it up and stick with android and be unable to have more than the 3 songs I have on my iPad.
    If any one can help It would be greatly appreciated.

    It sounds as if you have a computer but it won't hold a charge. Does it not work if it's plugged in at home? If so, you can simply transfer the music to your computer at home. You can either do this by connecting your Incredible to the computer and dragging the music from the SD card to iTunes or, you can contact Amazon and get your password reset and just download the music.

  • My humble opinion about Droid X vs Droid Incredible

    I had a chance to try out a Droid Incredibile for three days. I prefer the Droid X for several reasons:
    On the X I can place any phone contact on any screen and use either a widget or an apps. With the Incredible you are limited to "favorites" only and limited to nine. I see no way to set up another "favorite" on another screen..
    You are limited to what widgets you can set up on your Incredible. It must be a completely blank screen or else such widgets as FM radio will not go on.
    Sadly, the Incredible does not have Swype, which I use all the time on my X.
    You can not set up vibration only for notifications.  You can only wake up your Incredible by tapping the power button, with the Droid, you can also tap the home button to wake it up.
    Finally, On the X, if you are on the very left screen and wish to go to the very right screen, you swipe and tap on the three buttons and your there. On the Incredible, you must swipe the whole way.
    None of these are very big deals, I grant you. But they are minor irritants
    Oh, don't get me wrong, there are things I wish the X could do like the Incredible. For example, the lock bar is so much easier on the Incredible to open up. The manner in which you delete a widget/apps from the screen is so much more easier on the Incredible than on the X.
    As far as bars, and this IS a big deal. With the X I get 3g and four bars at home. with the Incredible, I get 3g and only two bars. Gladly, it doesn't interfere with calling or talking.

    You can place shortcuts on any screen to about anything, including a contact. You don't have to use the Favorites widget.
    Only a few widgets are full screen size. Some of them offer two different sizes.
    You can get the Swype beta for Incredible.
    Vibration only for notifications: Goto Volume in Sound Settings and turn the volume all the way down for notifications. Make sure the Vibrate option is on.
    Wake up button: Correct, and I like that way. The "home button" or any other front button is too easily pressed while in a holdster or pocket.
    Moving to another screen: Pinch zoom any home screen to see minature versions of all screens to pick from.
    Besides the above, is there anything else you like better on the X? How does the camera and camcorder operation compare? And the resulting photos/video? Does the size of the screen really make a difference? I'm asking because I just got the Incredible, but have 30 days to switch to the X if I want.

  • Droid Incredible 2 won't turn on or charge.

      I have had this problem before, right after I got the DINC2. Yesterday, I wanted to take out my memory card to save pictures on my computer via a usb card reader. I turned my phone off by pressing the power button and selecting power off. I removed my battery, and then removed the memory card. After transferring my pictures, I placed the memory card back in the DINC2, and placed the battery and cover back on the device. I pushed the power button, and NOTHING. The phone won't turn on. I plugged it in to the charger, and the amber light won't even come on. I thought it might be the charger, so I used the USB cord attached to the computer, and still no charging light. I have removed the battery overnight, and just let it set. When I reinstalled the battery this morning, still nothing. The charging light does not come on, and I can't power up the device.
      I had this problem before. I had let the battery run down to nothing and the device powered itself off. Same scenario, the charge light would not come on when plugged into the charger, and I couldn't power up the device. I left the battery out overnight, and the next morning the device still wouldn't power on. I placed the phone in my car, and plugged in my car charger. After a few minutes, the amber light came on, and I was able to power up the device. This, however, did not work this time. Nothing I try helps.
      Is this a common problem? How should I go about getting this resolved?

    Hi Brian,
    It must be frustrating not being able to power your phone on. I checked my resources and this is not noted as a known issue with the Droid Incredible 2. Since you are not able to power on the phone, there is nothing we can troubleshoot by phone. I recommend to bring your device to a Verizon Wireless store for a hands on evaluation. You can find a Verizon Wireless store near you by entering your ZIP code at vzw.com/storelocator online.

  • Browsers, some apps keep quitting on Droid Incredible. Ideas before I reset phone?

    In the last month or so, my Droid Incredible has developed a really annoying problem. My full-featured web browsers (including Dolphin HD, and the stock "internet") won't run. They quit seconds after launched. 
    Is anyone else seeing this problem? Know what's causing it? I know app conflicts can be very user-specific, but ya never know...
    Opera Mini runs reliably, and Dolphin mini runs sometimes (but quits more often than it runs). So I am able to browse the web. But Opera Mini doesn't support "share page" functionality (via e-mail, bookmarklets, etc.), which is something I rely on heavily and am no longer willing to do without on a phone I'm paying $110/month for.
    In addition, some apps I really like (including AppBrain and Shazam) also are quitting seconds after launch.
    I've uninstalled all apps that I'm not using. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Dolphin HD and Mini, as well as the other apps that have ceased running. I've done the battery pull twice, and have also cleared the cache on most of my apps. I deleted a bunch of media files to free up space. No dice.
    I'm at the point where I'm going to have to start uninstalling the apps that I'm using. I'm very reluctant to do this, since I just had to go through this tedious exercise a couple of months ago to correct a different problem. And if it is an app conflict, then I'm wondering whether backing up the apps to the SD card, resetting the phone, and restoring them would solve the problem. I mean, if I'm restoring the same apps, wouldn't it be likely that I'd have the same conflict problem?
    My phone is not rooted, and I don't want to root it.
    Can anyone suggest something else I might do short of uninstalling all my apps and doing a factory reset to try to fix this problem?

    I have the same exact problem, I pretty much can't even use my internet function with this phone. it always freezes and quits in the middle of anything. I'm kind of thinking it's a glitch with this phone unfortunately, I have a few friends who also have the same bad droid luck with the internet or any applications running properly. I'm wondering if a few of the phones just need to be re-called with the Droid HTC Incredible model. I'm paying for the internet service and wish I was just back to my simple LG phone with the 39.99 a month bill, that's about the quality of service I'm getting.
    I wish I had better information for you, but I guess you can just re-set and delete all your applications over and over again like Verizon suggests. I'm tired and don't want to even bother at this point.  I want my money back for the internet service I don't get, very bummed indeed...
