Had to format PC, how do I get my apps back?

So as any windows user knows, every so often we have to format our PC, and I just had to do that the other day.
After the machine was formatted, I started installing my programs again, and I just finished with iTunes. I have all my music and movies back in there, but all my apps are gone. I still have them on my iPhone, but I know that when I sync it up, it will wipe em off the phone and look to re-download them from iTunes. How can I get all my apps back? Do I need to call Apple Tech Support and have them put them all into my waiting to be downloaded section? I also really do not want to have to pay for apps again.

You should really have made a backup of your purchased content. But unlike music, videos and movies, applications from the App Store can be downloaded again without extra charge. Just go to the iTunes Store, making sure that you're logged into the iTunes Store account under which you purchased the applications initially, and go through the "buy" process again. The iTunes Store should indicate that there won't be a charge for the download.
Once you have everything back, I strongly recommend that you make backups of all your purchased content. An iPod is not a reliable backup.

Just FYI, there is no telephone support for the iTunes Store. Apple technical support cannot help with ITunes Store issues. Should you ever need to contact the iTunes Store, you will need to use the Contact Page:

When what is clicked?

- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

and in the accompanying documents linked from that page. Syncing your iPad with iTunes copies items, it doesn't move them. The only way apps would be actually removed from your iPad during syncing is if you had iTunes set to remove them on syncing, so check the appropriate settings in iTunes, set the book to sync as well, and then sync the iPad again.

1. yesterday, my phone started showing the "connect to itunes" and emergency call only screen. I saw some advice in the forums about connecting it to a computer, but had never done so, so didn't think it applied to me. What caused this to happen??
2. I called AT&T, who had me download itunes on my work computer (can't get up the stairs to home computer after knee surgery, specifically asked if this would damage anything on my phone and was told no. after downloading latest itunes and connecting to this computer, all my apps, photos, contacts, everything is gone. Is there anything I can do to get that stuff back? Kids' 8th bday phontos on there...

Not sure what happened but whatever happened was a major problem if the only option was connecting your iPhone to iTunes which requires restoring your iPhone with iTunes.

AT&T handles problems with their network, which the problem with your iPhone had nothing to do with. It would have been better to call AppleCare for this instead.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred to an iPhone from a single computer only.
When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first with a warning message provided indicating this will occur - the first warning message provided is your iPhone has been synced with an iTunes library on a different computer.
An exception to the warning message provided would be if restoring an iPhone with iTunes is required, which apparently was the case in your situation. Restoring an iPhone with iTunes completely erases the iPhone first followed by the firmware being re-installed. If this is done with the computer you normally sync your iPhone with, you have the option to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup which must be followed by a sync to re-transfer your selected iTunes content and any photos from your computer to your iPhone. None of this data is available with the computer used to restore your iPhone.

Hold the home and power button down until your phone restarts. If that doesn't work, backup and restore using iTunes.

You should be able to copy it from your iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, or you should be able to re-download it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes Store home page - if that says that it's already downloaded, then that implies that it's already on your computer

Your apps will only be where you put them. if you failed to put them on your computer beore updating, then they would certainly be gone.

Do you have an Restrictions set that would hide the apps? Settings>General>Restrictions
Have you used the Spotlight search? Maybe you just can't find them.
