    first, rename OOBE Folder to OOBE.old.
    to find OOBE:
    64 bit win OS: Program Files x86\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
    32 bit win OS: Program Files \Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
    mac os: HD>library>application support>adobe>caps
    mac os: USER>library>application support>adobe>OOB
    if that fails or isn't the exact error you see, uninstall, clean (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and reinstall.
    if you're using a dvd to install:
    copy the disc contents to a desktop directory and install from that directory.
    if you're using a mac:
    1. Try to Create a new user account in Mac with Administrator Priviledges.
    2. Login to the New user, Navigate to Mac HD> Application> Utilities> Adobe Installer folder, Locate products like Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Adobe Air and un-install them
    3. Navigate to User Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
    4. Navigate to Mac HD> Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.
    5. Start the installation again.

    Had CS4 on Power PC Mac (Non Intel) along with prior Photoshop versions. Now I have new iMac and trying to install CS6 but it won't accept my original serial number (Starts with PSW401, etc.).

    I know what you are saying. I had purchased the CS5.5 upgrade, and a week later got the CS6 upgrade. I did this back in 2012. I had a old Mac Power PC which does not allow you to install CS5.5 or CS6 because it was not an intel processor. So even though I had the upgrades I never installed them. I waited until my old MAC died which it did this past weekend. And now that I have a new iMac I tried to install the new software. All of my past upgrades referenced my original Photoshop that was still resident on my old Mac. But since the install no longer has that reference because of the new computer, it will not accept any of my past serial numbers that it needs for the install.

    for some reason photoshop is fine.

    upgraded to XI perpetual license - installed and on first launch I cannot get past the renew subscription dbox.

  • Installing CS6 on Windows 7 64bit?

    Hi all, I just wanted to confirm with an Adobe staff member that I should have no problems with installing CS6 Design & Web Premium on Windows 7 64bit OS (HP Core i5). We are having our computers upgraded in the office from Windows XP and our tech supplier would feel more comfortable buying the new machines if he had assurance that the software will be compatible. A few questions here:
    System requirements says Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 on the back of the box, is this something he has to take special note of?
    It says 3 installations are allowed. Will this new PC count as my second installation? Or can I transfer my first installation from my old PC somehow?
    I'm not sure what the difference is between 32bit and 64bit. Will I be able to open my old CS files from Windows XP on Windows 7 without any problems?

    1. Yes you need to install SP1  on Windows 7 as it is the tested environment for  CS6 Design and Web Premium
    2. Yes this PC will be counted as 2nd unless you deactivate the first. It's always recommended to deactivate the software first before upgrading the OS or installiang the software on anew computer else it will increase the activation count.
    Once you deactivate the software, and install it on a new PC, the install will then be still referred as 1st installation.

    3. Some software's of the Suite such as Indesign CS6 and Illustrator CS6 require 64 Bit OS and so will not run on 32 Bit PC
    The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system.

  • Installed CS6 Design and Web - programs will not load

    After installing CS6 successfully (so it says), I can't get any of the programs to load. Illustrator, InDesign, and some of the others I am seeing an "application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d)" which is reminiscent of the errors people were having with Photoshop CS5.5.
    However, for Photoshop, the error is an application shut-down... "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has encountered a problem and needs to close." I am running off of Windows XP with Service pack 3.
    I've spoken with tech support, and they have had me uninstall/reinstall several times (from the disc, without the disc, change some file names to .old... that sort of thing... also downloaded and ran Adobe Application Manager). Nothing has worked. Any advice? I'd even accept "your computer is old and toasted, get a new one" at this point.

    Do I need to upgrade my graphics card before installing CS6.....currently have Nvidia quadro FX1800 with CS5.......what card would be recommendation for a one man operation that would like to take advantage of the mercury playback engine?

    I agree with the recommendations for the GTX 660+. I also second John's advice to completely uninstall the existing Quadro drivers before you swap cards.
    And that Quadro FX 1800 never worked with MPE GPU acceleration even in CS5 because although it has CUDA capability, it has only 768MB total VRAM on the card. MPE GPU acceleration requires a minimum of 765MB of free, unused VRAM - but a 768MB card leaves only 749MB of free, unused RAM because the Windows GUI itself consumes nearly 20MB of VRAM. And even if the FX 1800 had 1GB of VRAM, it would be sluggish-performing by current standards because the FX 1800 is really based on a downclocked GeForce 9600 GT (with only 64 CUDA cores) with a narrower memory bus width (192 bits instead of 256 bits, both DDR3).

  • Errors when Installing CS6 10.8

    HI,
    When I try installing CS6 Master Collection on an 10.8.5 Machine I am receiving the below log full of error messages.
    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, Have also tried removing the preferences through the Adobe cc cleaner.
    I have just tried renaming the colour sync profile and reinstalling but that didn't have any luck either.
    User has Read/ Write permissions to the entire library folder and Applications folder.
    Any suggestions?

    Not sure how helpful this is, many moons later, but I was recently bloodied the same way (CS6 on 10.8.5) and found the only way to go through was to uninstall everything and run the CC Cleaner, found under #3 at

    However, once you run that I found I had to run the CS6 Installer a couple of times, selectively deselecting installed apps and also customizing apps such as Photoshop and Illustrator NOT to install the recommended Font Set, etc.
    Sorry to say I didn't take a screen shot to share.
    Hopefully, this will assist some of the far too many who seem to have been hamstrung by the Installer.  Very drastic way to drive people to CC, Adobe. ;-)

  • Illustrator CS4 won't open any files since installing CS6

    Every since I installed CS6, whenever I try to open files in Illustrator (all files, not just the new downsaved from CS6 files), the program goes into "Not Responding" and I can't do anything until I crash out. It also will not let me create new files.
    I've tried deleting my Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder as I saw suggested in another discussion, but it did not help.
    Since my CS6 trial is ending soon and I'm not sure about upgrading yet, I really need my CS4 to be functional.
    I'm running WIndows Vista 64 bit. Never had any problems with Illustrator before this.
    Any suggestions?

    Ok, so I uninstalled Illustrator CS4, ran the CS Cleaner Tool, which messed up all my other CS4 programs, reinstalled the whole CS4 Suite, and Illustrator CS4 STILL won't open files (or allow me to create new ones). I only have two days left on my CS6 trial and I'm not sure if I'm upgrading right away, so I really need to figure out a way to make my AI CS4 work soon!

  • Problems installing CS6 on new hardware

    My purchase of CS6 was an upgrade from CS5.  The device those were installed on is now dead and I am loading software on a new PC. When I attempt to enter the serial number I received upon purchasing the upgrade I get a message that there is no qualifiying product on the PC.  There of course is not, becuase the device that CS5 was installed on is now dead.  Do I have to figure out a way to install CS5 on this new device and then install CS6 on top of that?  That seems like a crazy approach, but . . .

    (and thank goodness I still had that old CS5 box around - sometimes the packrat streak comes in handy).
    The boxes don't really matter that much since you can usually re-download the installation files online.
    But keep all your serial numbers safe and handy at all times. I store mine in a text file locally and in a text file on Dropbox so that I've always got access to them. Serial numbers are the only thing you buy that are unique to you when you buy software. Other than yourself and Adobe (if you registered) no-one here can help you with missing serial numbers.
    When you re-install CS6 using your upgrade serial number, you'll always need your CS5 serial number to verify it.
