I was researching the issue you are describing and had a recommendation. The device is very simple, so the software troubleshooting for it is pretty limitted so I think you shoud restore the iPod shuffle and re sync the content. Before Starting
It is important to understand the difference between "update" and "restore." Update does not affect your settings or songs, it simply installs updated software that controls iPod shuffle. Restore erases the disk and restores iPod shuffle to its original factory condition with updated software. If you only need to update iPod shuffle, this should be done on the computer where music is normally synced. Updating on another computer will result in all songs being removed from iPod shuffle.
Warning: Because Restore erases all songs and files on iPod shuffle, make sure to back up any files you've saved on iPod shuffle. Your songs, podcasts, and audiobooks can be synced back to your iPod shuffle if the items are part of your iTunes library.
How to restore iPod shuffle
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
Open iTunes, and then connect iPod shuffle to your computer.
After a few moments, iPod shuffle will appear in the Devices section on the left side of the Tunes window.
Select iPod shuffle under Devices and you will see information about it appear in the main iTunes window under the Summary tab/button for iPod shuffle (3rd and 4th generation) or the Settings tab/button for iPod shuffle (1st or 2nd generation).
The Version section tells you whether iPod shuffle is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
Click the Restore button. You will be presented with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. The 4-possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software currently on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores after downloading the latest iPod Software on your computer.
If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress indicator will appear on the computer screen indicating that the restore process has started. Do not disconnect iPod shuffle during the restore process.
After the restore process is complete, the iPod shuffle's status light will flash orange continuously. The iPod Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences as you did when you connected your iPod shuffle for the first time.
When you come to step 7, I recommend Restore Option 4.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Good Day, I had Itunes downloaded on my Windows Laptop how ever this laptop has broken down and is not longer repairable. So i am planing to buy a IMac. So my question is all the data on my IPhone, IPad, IPod that i used to snyc with my now broken laytop am I going to lose it all when I sync with Itunes on my new IMac ?
JankeesIf at all possible, copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527). Otherwise, you will lose and music that was not purchased from the iTune store unless you use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer it to your new computer. Odd. I downloaded [DH]RQ-7_UAV_US_Army.pdf which indicates the password you posted, and it opened WITHOUT any prompt for password at all. (Adobe Reader XI Mac OS X 10.8.5)
I downloaded P51D_Mustang_Ferocious_Frankie.pdf and it opens in Preview, Acrobat X, but not Reader XI as you described.
Here's what I did to get it to open.
Open the PDF in Acrobat.
Click File>Properties.
Under the Security tab, click "Change Settings..."
Where it says "Compatibility:" change it from "Acrobat 5 and later" to "Acrobat X and later".
Enter the password (paper-replika.com) below.
Click OK.
Save the PDF.
Open it with Reader XI.
It will accept the password and open the PDF.
This ISN'T a Reader issue, but an issue with the save settings when the PDF was created.
Unfortunately, for those who DON'T have Acrobat to make the necessary changes, it will remain a problem.
Perhaps you could contct the website and inform them that they need to change their compatibiliy settings in their PDFs.
But... It's NOT a Reader issue. -
My computer froze, so I had to finally turn it off. When I turned it on again, it wouldn't open iTunes. Error7 (Windows error 14001) appeared. I could not uninstall and reinstall iTunes because now Windows Installer isn't working either. Tried using "System Restore" from a backup, but still didn't fix problem. Tried online purchase of registry cleanup ("Error End"), but that didn't solve problem either.

i am soo angry, when i updated to snow leopard, i could open all my old files. Now most of my files (and my quicken accounting) which are done on "word" are no longer accessable. Now it says i have to contact the supplier of "word" and purchase something to make it compatable!
To go to lion, to get my mail to run, i had to buy more memory, then buy Lion, Now I have to buy something else, i feel hugely Ripped off- IT SHOULD BE MADE CLEAR BEFORE PURCHASE THAT PC APPLICATIONS THAT RAN BEFORE WILL NO LONGER WORK.

The TS3938 sounds like it's a PowerPC app- written for an old architecture that is no longer supported in Lion. If this is the case, your files are fine- you just need a newer version of word that will run in Lion in order to open them. The newest version (2011) should be readily available anywhere, and has worked fine for me ever since I switched to Lion on release day....

Having just joined Facebook, I have added the App to my iPhone and iPad mini but the iPad mini is coming up with an error message when trying to log it in Settings. Seems to be stuck in loop "cannot connect to server"
You can't override it no matter what you do. The device has to connect to the server to complete the iOS update. You could try rebooting the iPad and see if that lets you connect to the server after it starts up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that will not work, you can try connecting to iTunes on your computer and see if the activation will complete. Sometimes when thes activation issues arise, you end up having to restore the device again, but first things first. Reboot and see what happens. -

Because of getting the message that I had to uninstall Apple Mobile Support Device and ITunes, in order to get my ITunes to be usable, I did that. While trying to re-install ITunes, all I get on the message is the choice to "save" or "cancel". It will not give me the "run" choice. What am I doing wrong?
