Had to restore but it doesn't help!!!!
Ipod Photo was acting very strange during updating process and got a message to restore factory settings on my daughter's Ipod (she hasn't a clue about computer type issues). Looked at the 5 R's and did an update and a restore twice. After the first restore, the Ipod showed 0 capacity and 0 usage (under settings). Restored again and Itunes froze. I thought maybe I should update Itunes from 4.0 to 6.0 This time it seemed to recognize the Ipod, so I thought. The updating process started and I left it for the evening since there are 2,500 songs with artwork and 2,000 photos. I left this to run overnight. In the morning, it only loaded a couple of hundred songs. When I left it before going to bed, it said updating 15 of 2,500, etc., so I thought all was good. In the morning, the computer was asleep. Does this have an impact to where it won't finish? Or, did it sleep because nothing was happening? During one of the processes, I got a message that something couldn't read or write from the file. Does this mean the drive in the Ipod is going bad? The Ipod was fully charged. Might the USB port affect this as well? I changed ports after the first bad restore. I have Applecare and really don't have the time to sit through all these different fixes that may or may not solve the problem. Also, I'm worried that the Ipod may be faulty. She's had this for 14 months.

I suspect you may have a corrupt photo or image that is causing the sync to fail or quit. You might want to try removing all of your photos by deselecting them in iTunes then sync - and try adding them by each sub-folders until you are able to nail down which sub-folder of photos, that causes the sync to stop or gives you errors.

Apple have never accepted trade-ins agains the cost of a new device. You will need to sell the one you bought and apply the proceeds to the model you want.

I have unlocked my iPhone 3G with Vodafone via iTunes, but now the downloaded apps crash immediately when opened. I've tried a Restore, but this didn't help. I've also tried removing all apps and re-installing them, but they still don't work. Any ideas? Thanks.
yep, unfortunately can't reset without the passcode either.
With regards to doing a restore, do you mean:
open itunes on my computer
click on my device on the left
go to the device summary
click restore
it then asks if i want to back up before i restore (to which i say no)
then it asks me if i'm sure I want to restore to factory settings and that all of me media and data will be erased and replaced with the newest version ( to which I say yes)
then it takes about 90 mins to do this but when I look at my phone, everything is exactly the same.
Am I missing something? Obviously I'm technologically challenged, but I HAVE to get to the bottom of this! -
When I try to eject my ipod after sync I get the following message:The iPod cannot be restored because it contains files that are in use by another application.". I tried to restore but it doesn't work and I get the same message
Go to your computer's System Tray and try ejecting. If you can't eject, there is an application that is trying to access your iPod.
Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx and download ProcessExplorer.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555665 and follow the instructions under Resolution.
Note that this is a good, general process any time you can't access any file.
In my case an update to RealPlayer installed a program called RecordingManager that was accessing my iPod. -

Well, that is going to make it difficult, since the first two steps of user troubleshooting require the use of the power button. I suggest you get that fixed.

Tapping the words don't work in iOS 7. Just swipe up or down anywhere on the screen until the mode that you want to use appears in yellow type on the right side. Yellow type indicates the selected mode.
Remember - swipe up or down to get to the mode that you want to use. -
