Hairline Crack in Screen

Hey, My iphone has a hairline crack for some unknown reason. It has never been dropped and its located directly above the home button. It points directly to the sim card slot so its straight line. Its small and sorta noticeable. May i get a replacement from apple? My iphone is about one month old.

AT&T doesn't provide iPhone warranty service in the USA - only Apple. You need to make an appointment with an Apple Store Genius Bar (don't walk in without an appt.).

  • Small hairline crack near screen hinge. Fix?

I just noticed that my 2010 white Macbook has a 3/4" hairline crack on the outter part of the screen/lid right by the hinge. It's not really affecting how the computer functions or anything. But it really bothers me. My warranty runs out on Jan 20th 2012. Will the warranty cover this?

If it matters, I didn't purchase additional AppleCare coverage on this one. It just has the 1 years limited warranty that it comes with.

  • Hairline Crack Illusion from Screen Protector?

    Hi,
I just got me new Iphone 5s from the verizon store . Long story short, they talked me into the case and screen protector which they installed. The screen protector is apparently tampered glass. I noticed there are two very small "specs" on the screen which you can only seen either with the back light on or shinning a light onto the screen. They look like very small horizontal hair line cracks at first glance.
At first, I thought some dust must of just got in between the screen protector and the phone's screen.I went back to the Verizon store to request them to put a new protector on without these two noticeable lines. The manager looked at the phone and said that it was a"optical illusion" from the way the glass from the protector is aligned with the iPhone screen. He then went on to say because it is not a defect, there was no warrant to replace the screen protector.
    So.
    1. Is the manager just giving me the ring around about this and just doesn't want to replace the screen protector or worse the phone if there is indeed a hairline crack with it. I could not find any information on this.
    2. I paid full retail price for the phone to keep unlimited data. Do you think Verizon should attempt to get rid of those lines? It kind of makes me upset that they tell me this after the fact they sell me the screen protector know all along that there is a chance of visual defect and not disclosing that.
    Thank You,
    Sam

I didn't mean to imply you hadn't been polite. My apologies. I just know that, sometimes, when people get frustrated with customer service that is less than they would like, especially with an expensive purchase, they can lose their cool. And I know, after 20 years in retail, that I will do anything I can to help a customer with a problem who still treats me with respect.
I haven't seen that problem with the tempered glass screen protectors. Doesn't mean it can't be the case. I think a flaw in the screen protector or an issue with it is much more likely than cracks on the phone screen itself, though.
    Best of luck.

  • Hairline crack in touch screen (not the glass) in Xperia Z1

I have a 5 month old Xperia Z1 mobile phone which has never been dropped or knocked.  On removing it from a padded pocket in my bag I noticed that the touch screen under the glass has a diagonal hairline crack originating from the top centre of the phone to under the right hand corner (the external glass has no crack).  After researching this I note that this is a known fault with the Xperia series mobile phones.   http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/05/30/bbcs-watchdog-investigates-xperia-z1-cracking-screen-issue-sony...
I have not been able to contact Sony for advice using their contact us email form (dead link), live chat (not currently operating), or by phone (busy signal whenever I call).
I am really dissatisfied with my phone cracking like this particularly when it is not the result of negligence.  Can you please respond to my query and restore my faith in your customer service...

  • Hairline crack appeared inside screen

I've just noticed a hairline crack at the left side of the screen. There has been no impact of any kind that would have caused this and the damage looks internal rather than external(it's not scratch)and it's not affecting the touch or the colors.

this is a HD shots for the screen, to be easy to investigate in the problem.

  • Screen making noises and hairline crack... Help?!

I have an iPhone 6... On Monday when I touched my screen, I noticed that it was making noise when I pushed down on it on the left side of the screen. I immediately booked an appointment for this Saturday to get to a genius bar to get the phone looked at. I had this issue before with an iPhone 5S and the phone got replaced because I was told that they could not replace the screen as it would damage the finger print sensor. However today my phone has suddenly developed a hairline crack at the top of the screen over the front camera. I haven't dropped it or smashed it against anything. I have a screen protector on the phone and a case which confused me a little. I have my appointment with Apple tomorrow and I'm wondering what will happen. I'm more worried about the crack if anything! There is no other damage on the phone as I've had a screen protector and case on it from day one. Also the phone is still functioning as it always has. Any ideas anyone?

Since you've confirmed the device has physical damage, and since physical damage is not covered under the Apple hardware warranty, be prepared to pay either a $109 USD + tax fee to replace the screen or a $299 USD + tax out-of-warranty fee for whole unit replacement, depending on the results of Apple's inspection and the decision made by the Apple Store.  You may get free service, but set your expectations to pay because of the physical damage, so that if you are given a better option, it is a pleasant surprise.
By the book, a damaged device, regardless of how it is damaged, involves some form of out-of-warranty cost, unless you have AppleCare Plus.  In that case, you usually pay a deductible of $79 USD + tax.

  • Do I have to pay to get my iPhone 6 screen repaired at the Apple Store if it is a hairline crack?z

I just finishef talking to apple support and I was telling them I have a hairline crack and if it would be covered under my warranty if I got it fixed at the Apple Store but they told me it wouldnt be under warranty it'll be a accidental cost and I would have to pay averagely $109 and I've been reading discussion boards saying you don't have to pay for hairline cracks. So I was wondering if someone can ensure me if i would have to pay for the crack? Thank you

Read your warranty and don't always believe everything you see here. The truth is what the manager tells you. Unless the crack was a manufacturing defect you discovered when you purchased the phone, then the presumption is it was caused by the user.

  • Hairline-crack in Macbook Pro display-- what to do?

    Hi all,
I have a MacBook Pro 13" that was bought in early February, and a few days ago I noticed a hairline crack (not a scratch) on the top left of my screen. it's met the centre left side of my display now. It's very thin and shallow, I initially thought it was actually a hair on my screen. Anyways, what's my best course of action? I've haven't taken my laptop around with me for a while, it's been sitting next to my bed for about a month, so nothing I can think of could have warranted the scratch except the cold weather that's been going through the country. Anyways, I'm a student, I can't afford to repair the display from Apple or by myself (unless I got Applecare, would it cover that?), what is my best course of action? I'm going back to school soon, so I'll be carrying around my laptop and want to avoid more damage. I was considering buying some Displex and a screen protector, but would that do anything? I scared that the crack would get larger and ruin the integrity of my display (even more so), and eventually I would like to get it fixed.

Only if they determine it's a manufacturing defect. Your only shot here is if it's within the original 1 year warranty. Which by the way, you have to buy Applecare within if you want it. As a student, you get a discount on Applecare and it's definitely worth having even if it doesn't cover this.

  • I've cracked the screen of my iPad 3... What can I do?

Having dropped my iPad I've just noticed two hairline cracks across the screen. Can I have it repaired / replaced by Apple or do I have to live with the flaw?

Apple advise you to have them repair it as it is glass and you could injure yourself.
If you have the AppleCare plus it will only cost you $49. If you do not, then it is considered accidental damage and not covered. Cost to replace would be dependent on the type you have.

  • Hairline cracks near the power button :-(

Hello everyone!!  this is my first post here... so sad that it has to be a negative one.  i dont know if someone else has posted this topic, but i dont really have time at this precise moment to check.
i have a small hairline fracture just about the power button.  i did absolutely nothing to cause this crack.  my mother also has this tiny little crack in the same place.  i guess its just a flaw in the materials used for the device.  but, this is really frustrating because im afraid it might crack all the way, and then im stuck without a phone.  also, my power button is a little flimsy, and i dont abuse this phone because it is my first smartphone, and i need it to work properly for two years before i can upgrade to one of those pretty and bright new centros.
my question is... why are these same things happening to so many other palm centro users (the hairline crack mostly)??  palm workers, please look into this issue.  i dont think you want to have a bunch of palm centro users returning their phones to the stores because of these little cracks that are a HUGE problem.  in fact, i dont think you even want to sell a product that has a defect like this to begin with!  i love my phone, i love palm, but i DONT want a device with flaws the second time around.  if i could i would take it back to the store, but i am out of warranty and without insurance. perhaps there is a way that i could still get a new/ refurbished one for a minimal fee (NOT full price)?  it has happened to me before.... one of my old phones had issues with the screen and i took it and i got a refurbished replacement for 30 dollars.  the replacement worked perfectly fine.  if this is possible with the centro please let me know because i will go the sprint store in a heart beat.  in fact, if i get a wonderful refurbished phone without cracks i might not even upgrade because the newer one is almost the same (although more memory is nice..... if you guys release a purple colored one to sprint then i will definitely upgrade because thats my favorite color.... you might want to keep that in mind ).  what worries me is the crack and the power button.  i need help.... any suggestions??

  • Hairline Crack appeared on Z1 from walking around!

Hi, does anyone know if there is some fault with the Z1. I have a hairline crack that has appeared from walking around, sitting or something. It has not been dropped, or misused or anything like that. I'm having to pay for it to be repaired but I'm wondering if this is a fault on the handset due to it's nature of style.
It's certainly put me off buying sony products again as I feel that having a phone in your pocket and the screen crackinging, is not accidental damage, but a fault on the handset (I'm sure others will disagree).
Anyway, is this a common problem?

  • HAIRLINE CRACK ON IPHONE5

Hi, five days back my iphone5 slipped from my pocket as i fell down on the ground, it has got a single hairline crack on the screen . Since my phone is under warranty will it be replaced without any repair cost?

I'm sure other people have accidentally and unintentionally damaged their iPhones within 3 days of purchase.
No, that is not covered under the warranty.  That's damage.  If you had purchased the AppleCare+ program for $99 USD + tax, you'd have two years of normal hardware coverage and have two damage incidents, each for $79 USD + tax.
Now, your cost will be $299 USD + tax, unless it's just the screen that needs to be replaced, in which case it should be $109 USD + tax, I believe.

  • Hairline crack - touchscreen broken advice on how to access photos

Hairline crack on my 1 month old Z1 compact, so touch screen has stopped working. Any way i can access my photos?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
If the touchscreen is not working you could use an USB OTG-adapter to connect a mouse to the phone. That way you can unlock the screen and save your data.

  • Hairline crack on iPhone 6

    Hi,
I've bought new iphone 6 10 days ago. 3 days after I bought it, I've got hairline crack, on the bottom right side of the screen.
Have anyone else have such thing? Is it covered by warranty?
    Thanks
