Hairline white gap appearing between objects

Hi,
I've constructed a logo that consists of several shapes that but up against each other. The sides that touch one another are completely flat. When I zoom in, the objects are touching, if not overlapping in some cases. This is okay as it is very small.
However when I save it as a pdf document to sent to a client, those thin lines between the shapes appear much more pronounced. It looks as if I have intentionally put a .5 stroke line between each object. Why does this occur and is there a way to fix this problem?

Bayne,
It sounds as if it is a PDF rendering issue.
What happens if you zoom into the PDF?
And how is it when you print the PDF?

  • Large gaps appearing between content when exporting to HTML

    Good afternoon,
I'm relatively new to Muse and I'm evaluation whether to purchase a subscription, but this problem has got me very frustrated. I have very large gaps appearing between content in my designs, causing the site to look terrible and not anywhere near how it looks in Muse.
I have seen this error reported on the forums earlier, and I have checked and can't see any "hidden text boxes" or "0 wide content" causing this bug. Please look at my screenshots for an explanation of the problem.
This is what I see in Muse, it looks relatively clean and I'm liking how it appears.
But when I export to HTML, I get this atrocity.
The Muse file is available to download from here:

  • Error: Gaps in Smart Objects imported from Illustrator

    Hi,
I would like to report an error in Photoshop CS6 (the latest patches have been installed).
I've only recently purchased CS6 and have never posted in this forum before.
Apologies in advance if this isn't the correct procedure for reporting errors.
I'd be grateful if someone knows a workaround as this error makes imported Smart Objects useless in Photoshop CS6.
    Thanks in advance.
SYMPTOMS: Gaps appear between elements when an Illustrator CS6 file is imported in Photoshop CS6 as a Smart Object.
Different Image Interpolation settings in Photoshop CS6 were already tested but to no avail.

  • Option to distribute white space between objects?

Thought I'd try the align and distribution functions for the first time, thinking: "Yay! All that time I'm going to save by not manually moving objects". There appears to be every possible align/distribution function except the one I want.
I have five images, all the same height, but varying widths, and I'd like to distribute the white space evenly between them i.e. so the gap is the same between each one. When I distributre manually I scale each image by a factor:
    k = (D - G(N-1)) / W
    where
    D = total width available
    G = Gap
    N = number of images
W = total original width of images.
Then I manually align. Can CS6 do such distribution?

  • Remove gaps between objects in Illustrator

Hello. I have made a document with some objects in illustrator. The problem is that there is a white gap between the objects.
I have tried all the advices here on adobe forums and google, but nothing works.
I have uploaded the files to my website, so that you could give it a try if you want to help.
the files you can find here:
    http://www.kasperstaal.dk/example.ai
    http://www.kasperstaal.dk/example1.ai
    - the one file is a CC file and the other one is CS6...
    How can i fix this?
Thank you very much in advance..

For the web try and export is as PSD/TIF/whatever and check the antialiasing option "Art optimized"
When printing this shouldn't matter. It doesn't in offset printing, but might matter in other rare cases. Occasionally people pop up in this forum ...
But since you won't be in control of selecting the service bureau and printing process, you might try and create shapes below the actual object that share the same color and hide the gaps.

  • Gap between objects

I know there are several threads about this but I haven't found a decent answer. I have a logo I'm working on with overlapping shapes, strokes, etc. Everything looks fine in Illustrator but when I export the file to show the client, whether it be a .png, .pdf, .jpg, there is a hairline gap between objects. Is this only a screen issue or will the hairline gap print?

That's right, it's a screen issue. So printing the vector file will be fine.
You have a problem is when you want to show a pixel version to a client.
Place the AI file as a smart object in Photoshop
See my answer here for a solution:
    Illustrator divide problem
You can also skip the Photoshop route by using the Rasterise effect in Illustrator and export as .png, jpegs etc.

  • White Space between Objects?

    Alright,
I seem to be having a problem to where there is white space between objects and no matter how many times I intersect paths I still have white-space between objects. Obviously if you are making some sort of illustration, even a pixel worth of white space could prove to be problematic. I have provided a screenshot of the problem I am receiving. I cannot move the objects together to fix this problem. May anyone please offer advice or a solution to this issue?
As you can see in the screenshot we are seeing white space between the blue and purple objects.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you all so much!

  • White box appears while switching between two desktops

    Hello all,
Since few weeks I have a problem when I switch between two Desktops. Everytime I switch between them a white box appears in the left corner of my screen (see screenshot).

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Problem: Gap between objects

I've made a logo for a company. I have som issues with gaps between objects. I've googled and tried
several soloutions without any luck. How can I merge the two objects together and still maintain the two
colors? I've recorded a video so you can see the problem by yourself and hopefully help me.
    Thanks in advance!

    DigiEyeZ,
It just occurred to me (rereading about the change in gradient angles and seeing the video) that you may be haunted by the Align to Pixel Grid ghost.
If you go back to the original divided shapes, select all of them, and then look at the Transform palette, is Align to Pixel Grid ticked?
If it is, untick it, and also untick the option Align New Objects to Pixel Grid.
Then retry the different solutions. You may also see what happens with the original divided shapes.
You may also consider adjusting the positions and sizes of the shapes to fit the pixel grid, of course.

  • White gaps between regular and video slides

I have just created an adobe captivate video.   There is a white gap between regular slides and animation slides.  It usually lasts for about 2 seconds.  Because of this my audio and video are no longer synced.  This gradually gets worse as the presentation continues.  Does anybody know how to get rid of these white gaps? I'm using version 3. The issue is demonstrated in the following video:
    http://screencast.com/t/hqczdmV69b9
    Thanks in advance.

It looks like they go all the way to the end of the slide.  It is happening somewhere between slide 7 and slide 8 (see attached screen shots).  Thanks again Rod.

  • Gap in between divs in firefox

    Hi there.
I'm working on a website and I have tested in both IE 7, and
    Firefox v2.
In IE it looks as intended, but in Firefox, there is a gap
between the customer menu (with lime green background), and the Top
Menu bit (above the lime green). The customer menu in the css is
#user_title. The top menu is #topmenu
Similarly, right at the bottom, in between the end of the
content, and the footer, there is a white gap.
I'm not too sure why it is appearing. Below are links to
screenshots of each (sorry I haven't got an upload of the actual
site). Also, i've attached my CSS file to this post.
    IE Preview
    Firefox

If anyone can help me get rid of the gaps, that would be
    great!
    Thanks,
    Craig

In your CSS rule for "#user_title h1" change this
    margin-left: 10px;
    to this
    margin: 0 10px;
The gap was caused by the h1 default top margin. Because of a
    feature
called collapsing margins it was sticking out of the
    #user_title div.
The new declaration takes care of this and sets both the top
    and bottom
    margin to zero.
BTW: The result in FF was the correct one, IE got it wrong
    (as usual).

  • HELP!!!  Weird white bars appearing in exports...

We have just hired on a fabulous graphic designer to our company, but every time we export her designs as jpegs instead of PDFs, horizontal white bars appear going across smaller images. The bars do not line up with each other, even across images of the exact same size. There are no hidden objects to get rid of and this happens no matter which machine we open it on, hers, mine, my assistants, or any one of the other 5 computers in our studio. What is going on? Why does it look perfect as a PDF and crappy as a jpeg?
We are using InDesign as past of the new creative suite that includes photoshop CS3.

Well Buko that doesn't sound like an answer at all but as a workaround to a flaw in the program itself. Are you telling me that the only way to get a jpeg out of InDesign is to first export as a PDF? If that's the case, then it means Adobe has put out a product that doesn't work as it is supposed to.
Buko, you did not attempt to answer my question, and in fact tried to make me feel stupid for not seeing the obvious answer of spending more time doing what InDesign already should do. No one likes a smart aleck.
This is a serious question to the rest of the world. My question is NOT how to eventually get a jpeg. My question is this: Why can I not export a jpeg directly from InDesign? What is going on? Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a bug in our version of InDesign, or is this a common problem?

  • White line appearing at top of screen on SD and some HD

I've noticed a white line appearing atop my broadcast watching SD and some HD channels.
I know this line is part of the broadcast signal which is responsible for closed captioning or some other technical aspects. From what I've researched, a TV's overscan should crop out that part of the broadcast, unfortunately mine is not.
    Here's my set up:
Vizio VL320M 32" 1080P HDTV (receiving signal via HDMI from receiver)
Sony STR-DH700 Receiver  (receivers HDMI switch outputting signal to Vizio TV)
Motorola QIP6416-2 DVR STB (connected via HDMI to receiver HDMI switch)
I can crop out the white line by setting my Vizio to Zoom1 or Stretch, though this distorts the image and is a pain to reset for channels which do not experience this problem.
I can also adjust the TV's vertical posistion up a few to get rid of the line, BUT when I switch HDMI ports to goto my xbox 360, then switch back to the HDMI port my cable is on, it appears that the STB resets my signal position and the line comes back.
I haven't tried component, and really do not want to switch from HDMI to component as some sort of work around.
If anyone has any suggestion to resolve this problem, please post. Thanks for any suggestions.

I think I may have narrowed down the problem. I believe it's a handshake issue occurring between my Sony receiver and my TV, though I could be wrong. Maybe some of you A/V experts can see otherwise.
I've come to this conclusion because of the vertical setting being returned to its default position upon switching ports on my Sony's HDMI switch. Keep in mind my STB is connected to a port on my Receiver's HDMI switch and my receivers HDMI output is connected to my TV.
I can crop out the white broadcast line by simply adjusting the vertical position of my screen up of few pixels. HOWEVER, when I switch HDMI ports on my receiver, then come back to the port my STB is on, the vertical position resets itself to the default position, even though my TV's vertical setting never changed.
Here's another possible confirmation. If I press the menu button on my Vizio's remote, immediately upon the TV's menu appearing the vertical position goes to the position that's set in the TV. Strange, but that's what leads me to believe there's a conflict occurring somewhere between my receiver and TV.
I have confirmed this behavior does not occur when I connect my STB directly to my TV. I can switch my TV's HDMI ports and the vertical position holds.
I contacted Sony support, and they want me to take my receiver to a service center. I doubt that there's a problem with my receiver that can be fixed, so I'm just gonna use a workaround by activating my TV's menu so the handshake can complete after switching HDMI ports.
Since I have a universal remote that's capable of macro layering, it's just a matter of programming a layered macro to goto my STB port then activate the TV menu to initiate the vertical setting.  Maybe at some other point in time I'll lug my receiver in, though unless I'm positive it can be fixed, I really don't feel like pulling apart my home theatre and explaining this to techs if I'm not even sure it can be fixed.
If anyone else knows of a better workaround please feel free to post it. Thanks.

  • White lines appear in PDF

I have a user that is having white lines appear around different objects in PDFs when she attaches them into Mail. Anyone else having this problem or have a solution. I can't find anything searching it.

Clarify please: not only does the recipient see these white lines, but she also sees them as she composes the message and attaches the PDF?
Would it be possible for me to see an example of this? If so, my email address can be found by clicking on my name to the left of this post, and looking in the bio line of the resulting Profile. I have Acrobat 9, btw, as well as other apps to examine it with.
