HAL and Planning 9.3.3

Hi there
We are upgrading from Planning 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 and are using HAL. We load a few different structures now and then, and I would like to know if anyone have had problems using HAL and Planning 9.3.3. HAL will off course be phased out after we upgrade to version 11 - but we would like to hold on to HAL for now, as we probably will use the Outlineloader, when we switch to version 11.

after developing this you have to create an executible file to run HAL job.
you can call the executible file from batch file and can schedule batch file.

HAL AND ODBC

I am new to HAL and am attempting to update Planning from SQL Server. Everything seems groovy; however, all records are being rejected. It works fine using a .csv with the same data. Here is the error in the error log that is kicked out:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Fetch of saved member
Has anyone run into something like this?

I'm sorry the more complete error message is:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Fetch of saved member "XXX" failed

Automation of metadata update through HAL in planning

anybody help me ,i want to update the planning dimensins through automation setup by using HAL.we are using SQL server 2005 and planning version is 9.3.1.

Issues with Hal and Xorg

Hello!
I re-install my Arch Linux with install for FTP and it is 100% update!
The prolems are:
1- The HAL not work with normal user, I add the use in hal.conf but not functional.

While start second session (startx -- :1) I`m NOT CAT SEE tty1 tty2 tty3... AND THE FIRST SESSION OF XORG (startx -- :0)

Other issue is my trackpoint of IBM Thinkpad X60s, the scroll not work.

i'm no got the message "permission denid", it not auto mount.
While I mount in shell (mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/pen) it is mount correct.
while I active the daemon GDM on boot and make login with normal user, the hal work correct, but when I'm not use GDM and make login in shell (init 3) the HAL not work.

Financial report for essbase and planning application

Hi,
Can any one please explain me what is the difference between creating financial report for essbase application and planning application.
Considering we will have Essbase cube for the planning application

Correct, the data that is stored in Essbase will be the same regardless of which connection type you use.
Data that is only stored in Planning can only be retrieved using a Planning connection. This includes Supporting Detail and SmartLists as these are stored in the Planning relational database.
As a general rule I always use an Essbase connection unless i specifically want to get supporting detail or smartlists but that is just me.

Iam working on Rolling Forecast for Actual and Plan report.. My Planning here is Quaterly based so for example say we plan it on April so the months after april (May - Dec) would be Planning. So when my month keeps on moving the forecase also moves..

Actual and Plan Versions annual view - Multiple versions per company code

Iu2019m creating an FI-CO query with an annual view of both Actuals and Plan Values, which uses period and version as input values. The dilemma is around the plan versions which are hardcoded per company codes (eg. 1 Company Code = versions 501 u2013 512)
Can anyone suggest a possible solutions as normally there is only one version used for planning but in this instance there are multiple versions per Company Code.
Currently the report is hardcoded for one Company Code and going forward it should cater for more than one(Company Company* 12 Version)

Remove restriction on comp code. There could be 2 models.
1. Include comp code, value type and version in the rows. This way you get multiple records for a comp code. One record for actual data and one record each for plan versions. To have this model at the query, the data model in the cube also should be in this way (what we call as the account model), multiple records differentiated into actual/plan by valuetype and different versions by version.
2. Include comp code in rows. Create selections, one for actuals (restrict with key fig and value type 10, actuals), one for each plan versions (restrict key fig with value type 20, version 501. Create one selection for each version this way). This way we have one record per comp code with diff key fig for actual and plan versions. We call this as key fig model. To have this model at the query, the data model in the cube could be account model or key fig model. If it is key fig model then no need of selections. The key fig could be taken directly from the cube.

Getting an error while activating a planning area "Enter values for planning horizon From and planning horizon To for the storage time profile level"

Dear S&OP community,
I am getting following error while creating a planning ares in a newly installed sandbox. "Enter values for planning horizon From and planning horizon To for the storage time profile level".
This what I did...
1) Created new attributes and master data objects and activated them successfully.
2) Time profile created and activated successfully
3) Trying to create planing area by assigning time profile in step 2 and assigned master data from step1..Unable to save the data and system returns
this error - "Enter values for planning horizon From and planning horizon To for the storage time profile level"
My understanding is time profile needs to be active but doesn't have to have values...
Any help is appreciated.

Business Rules and Planning Login Error

Hi Experts,
Today with the help of our DBA we migrated all the Production Planning Oracle database to Planning development database.
But after all, we restarted all the services and after that when we are connecting to the Console and Planning application we are getting log in erros and in console it is successfully opening all the administration services but giving fail to login to HBR.
When i login into the Planning application I am getting this error.
"Unsuccessful logon check for details"
We are using Planning 4x and Essbase 7x.
Please suggest me.

I guess I did not read your post carefully before this. Did you just copy application databases or planning system database too? You probably just needed to copy application databases for copy applications from prod to dev.
You cannot log in because of difference in user authentication. when you add a user to any system, it translates that userid into a ID that identifies the user according to external system you may be using. However, if you are using PROD to connect to prod MSAD but using dev to connect to dev MSAD (or other), they potentially resolve in different internal IDs. My suggestion would be to drop planning tables and recreate/reconfigure planning in dev. Then create your applications in dev. After creating application shells, you can ask DBA to copy database for applications into application databases followed by copying essbase apps from prod to dev. For HBR, you should just export rules from PROD and import to DEV. Its more involved but much cleaner.

and Planning tool (MAP) to aid in identifying any software and hardware issues. Apparently this tool has been recently updated (7/2014) and cannot be installed on a Windows Server 2003 system. As it requires .NET Framework 4.5 to run. Unfortunately,
.NET Framework 4.5 cannot be installed on a Windows Server 2003 as it only supports .NET 4.0.x versions. All older version links to the MAP tool have been updated to link directly to version 9.1. Where can I get a MAP tool version that will run
on Windows Server 2003?

After the environment scan has been completed in Windows Server 2008r2 or another supported OS, MAP looks at computers running earlier versions of Windows.

why don´t you use the logical database ADA which most of the FI-AA standard reports do? The logical database is a service to get this information without developing all the READ information and translation by yourself, especially when talking about mid-year-reporting, consistence checks, etc..
If you decide to use ADA, then the events GET ANLA0, GET ANLAV and GET ANLCV are from interest for you for information about APC and planned/posted depreciation value.
