Half Height Brackets. For Graphics Cards

For people who are looking to upgrade their low profile tower, Visiontek is a good brand to upgrade, they most of the time will send you a half height bracket for certain cards to upgrade properly, for a small fee. Before purchasing, always check the website of card you are buying for additional information.
NOTE : Packaging varies by vendor.

And make sure that your power supply can handle a graphics card.  I've noticed that a lot of those slim profile towers have small power supplies like 250 watts max.

  • Where can i buy brackets for my card?

hello, not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, but it seems to be. basically i got this nvidia card but cos my tower  is quite old, its quite big, and the bracket for this card is too small, so ive taken it off and can use the card like that, which is annoying just cos i dont like it being so loose. at the moment i cant even use the card cos im having troubles with my pc (see my other thread!!!!). but i was wondering where i could buy a bigger bracket so i can screw it on?
    cheers!

    Quote
bloody hell! i don't have a hacksaw! shame you can't just buy them from somewhere! it fits in the slot, i just prefer a bracket!
    ahh its not so drastic
    easy enough job
had to cut it cause its a double width card takes up two slots so to fit the cooler and for it to exhaust out the back of the case i had to trim it down.
well worth it my gcard temp has dropped by about 12 c at idle
that is a hell of a lot
and got no hot air from gcard going into case now so case temps dropped also .
which help keep water temp in resevoir lower etc etc ,
heh by some tools   you can do some case mods and other things !!!!!!!!!!
know what you mean tho sometimes you wish why cant i just go to pcworld and buy what i need !

  • Can't find recent driver for graphic card (display) cyberaladdin trident

I can't find recent driver for graphic card (display) cyberaladdin trident.
The game play with game Warcraft III.
    I downloaded directX 9
I managed to install the game but I can't play it.
My display card is Trident Cyberaladdin-T. The game producer told me it is compatible. I tried to find drivers but I haven't find anything efficient. On toshiba site there a driver but quite old (previous to the date I bought the computer...)
I don(t knox what to do and my son is very disappointed because he can't play with this new game.
    Thanks for your quick answer.

    Hi,
At first it would be interesting to know for which Operating System your need this driver ? ;)
Well this Chipset Trident CyberALADDiN-T ( called Napa2T ) was build in three Notebook Types of Toshiba.
The Satellite 6000, TE2000 and the Satellite 6050. ( Driverversion all with Version 5.01.2527.0128 )
Normally the drivers you find on the manufacturer Pages are not the actual drivers. They only update the drivers if there are known problems.
So the only chance for you is to look threw the internet and look if someone else has used this graphic chip, and delivers are newer driver than Toshiba.
Sorry for the answer, but I had same problem with my Machine, but found a newer driver revision on another manufacturer page.
    bye

  • Installing SDRAM for Graphics card

    Hi,
When I order my Intel iMac I upgraded the graphics card RAM to the 256mb option. It arrived later as was available at the time, but I'll b*ggered if I can figure out where to fit it!
The RAM access panel on the bottom only has room for the memory RAM (both being used) and I can't find any info on where to install it.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers.

    Hi Milney
I am sorry but the video memory is not user upgradable. It is a factory installed option because the memory chip is soldered on. If you orderded it with 256mb vram go to the blue apple in the top left corner/about this mac/ more info.../graphics/displays and verify if under vram (total) there should be 256 MB. If it is written 128 MB then contact apple if you have proof that the imac you bought (and paied for...) was the one with 256 MB. Also if you bought video ram (vram)somewhere you should go return it as soon as possible.

  • B540P Win 8 Solution for Graphics card, touchscreen & Sound problem!

First of all,.. It irritates me that I had to use 2 days of nonstop testing to find my OWN 100% working solution to make my All In One work. There has been absolutely no helpful info from the support staff of Lenovo on this problem. And it seems that quite a few users have had the same problem as me. Now,.. If there was no solution yet for the driver compatibility for running WIN 8, it would have been fair But as there is obviously a WORKING solution, it irritates me that the staff haven't been able to find out what I did. I mean,.. win8 is new,.. But NOT that new, so the staff should be able to provide a solution much much sooner. If I wasn't a real TechGeek, who have been messing around with this since the birth of PC's, I would probably have had no chance to resolve this problem on my own. Which would have resulted in me delivering an otherwise really amazing computer back, as it would  have been close to impossible to use.
    Now for the solution:
When I installed  win 8, I was pretty fast left with a bunch of problems. Touch was glitchy, the touch soundbar was stuck on top left corner, which left the PC hanging. Graphics card was standard and it was impossible to use apps like Netflix etc. To solve this problem do following:
    A. Install realtek audio driver version 6.0.1.6662 (if you already have a stuck soundbar, disable sound under devicemanager first. This will make you able to use the pc if it also hangs)
    B. Install Nvidia driver version 9.18.13.593 ) link: http://support.lenovo.com/en_GB/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS031642&rss=true IMPORTANT!!: when installing nvidia driver choose custom and untag the audio driver. If you install Nvidia's audio driver, you will get all the problems, witch stuck screen, stuck volume bar, as this is where the compatibility issues is. Only install the Graphics and Physx software, and you will be fine
    C. Install FN Keyboard driver
If you did as above your now fine to go with a B540P that will run as it's supposed to . No more stuck of anything!
You can also install the the win7 driver for remote control. I'm still yet to make the TV tuner card work, as I didn't have the time to look into that yet. Will most likely have a solution on that in 1 days time, when I get the chance to look deeper into it. Will of course post solution here when I got it.
TechGeek over and out for now

Well from what you write im pretty sure its in the resolution and/or refresh rate the problem is located. That will make your monitor shut down or not turn on if set wrong. From what i remember also analog and dvi have a different range of refresh rates. What about hdmi? Does the card have this? So you could try connect it to the tv,. Some tvs also have DVI. I would try find a tv or monitor with pure dvi, not using analog adapter.,.. connect it,. If it turns on. Lower resolution and refresh rate and connect it back again to your monitor. If that doesnt work that would leave me puzzled . Thinking back,.. I actually remember I had a smiliar problem in the past,. I just can't remember how it was solved,. But the "error" was in the whole resolution, refresh rate, analog adapter vs dvi spectre.,.. maybe it was something with the dvi to analog adapter,.. hmm can't remember.. Well anyways. Put your focus there. Not on the win8 drivers for now at least

  • Can i get editor for graphic card?

Im not happy with the original dispaly calibrator, because it doesnt do much. Is it possible to get different like when you buy a separate graphic card it comes with driver and proper editor made my the card's company, where there are more adjustmens, because the ones from apple are very limited. Thanks.

    Hi Robert
Go to the *Display Preference / Color* and uncheck the box *Show profiles for this display only* then select one of the sRGB profiles to see if they work any better for you.
Personally I use the Epson sRGB profile that was installed with my printer software, it's real close to the Adobe RGB (1998) and sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profiles that are some what darker and much richer.

  • Need suggestions for Graphics Cards

In perusing the posts on this site, I've not quite seen my needs addressed. I do need a recommendation for a graphics card or cards.
My concern in rendering in Final Cut Express and various effects and masks in Photoshop. MY 20 GIG RAM on my Mac Pro 667 MHz bus, dual quad core intel still renders video slowly. I currently have a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. Should (can?) I add memory to the card, add more cards, replace this card?
I could not care less about gaming or Boot Camp.
BTW, is this Mac Pro considered "first generation?"
    Thanks,
    Adam

    1. Yes, your Mac Pro is refered to as "1st Generation".
    2. No, you can't add memory to the card or upgrade the card in any way, you can only replace it (or buy a new card and keep the current one in a different slot for a 2nd monitor).
    3. Currently the best graphics card option is the nVidia 8800GT Upgrade for the 1st Generation Mac Pro. There's still the ATI x1900xt available, but it's more expensive, slower, louder and has massive heat problems. nVidia Quadro is overkill.
    4. The other question is, will the new card help? It will certainly affect some Final Cut operations, rendering of Video effects in Motion, but I doubt you'll see much difference in Photoshop, since that app doesn't make much use of the video card's processor.
Photoshop filters and final movie rendering are mostly affected by the Mac's CPU, so in some areas, depending on what you do, you might not see a difference at all.

  • Drivers assistance required for graphics card and fingerprint reader with W8 & Pavilion DV7-6B01ED

Hi - I own a HP Pavilion DV7-6B01ED and recently upgraded from W7 Home Premium to W8 Pro. Everything appeared to work fine except for the graphics card I have which now seems to always be on with the fan running, getting hot and running down the battery much more than before. I can not confirm what was reported as the graphics card in W7, but it is reported as the AMD 7000M after the upgrade. My invoice reports that it is a HD6490. Further to this, W8 reported an issue with this device in Device Manager.
Due to another issue (not hardware related) I decided to do a clean install of W8 which would also let me clean things up and to re-partition my disk.
In doing so I deleted the HP_TOOLS and the Recovery partitions. I'm not against recreating these but needed to delete them as I had 4 primary partitions and could not work within the restriction that comes with this. I understood from reading online that these can be recreated and the necessary tools re-installed (or another solution with DVD / USB employed). If the solution to my problems requires these to be installed, I'm happy to do so.
After the clean install, I continue to have the graphics card issue (same details as above) and the other issue I have is with the fingerprint reader. It shows up as an unknown device after W8 install (it did not have any issues after the initial upgrade I performed though).
So I've done plenty of things to try to rectify the issue and this includes installing the HP Support Assistant in the hope that this would help with the drivers. Instead of going through all the steps I've undertaken (I've read plenty in this HP forum and outside of the forum) and used certain W7 drivers, installed this that or the other program but unfortunately to no avail. I cannot get the fingerprint reader working and I still have a very hot and noisy laptop.
I'm good enough with OS and device driver installations and happy to get stuck into some unorthodox solutions if needs be. What can I do to resolve these issues?
Regarding the graphics card - is it a case that AMD have yet to release an updated driver? If so, I can live with that but in the meantime I would like to turn off the AMD card and work only with the integrated Intel graphics. Disabling the device in Device Manager does not seem to work. How do I do that?
The fingerprint reader is no big deal, but ideally I would like it working. What to do here?
If I need to do a re-install of W8 again and then get stuck into the driver installations I'm good with that, but would like to do it in a manner that will let me resolve these issues in the future without too much hassle.
    The spec of my machine is: HP DV7-6B01ED 17.3FHD / i5-2430 / 8GB / 750GB HDD / HD6490
    Thanks!

    Hello AttackofZaq....
Thanks firstly for your reply. I re-installed W8 to start from scratch.
OK, so I thought the AMD driver worked. I had installed it before I posted to the forum but then the problem seemed to have returned. I'll have to play with the settings because just as I type this the fan has started for no reason, same problem as before. Is there any chance Windows Updates in interfering?
Regarding the fingerprint reader - it hasn't helped. In Device Manager I now see Biometric Devices > Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0018). Is there some further software I require in order to use the device. I'm going to install SimplePass to see if that's needed.
I'll be back with an update.

  • POWER SUPPLY info needed for GRAPHICS CARD UPGRADE!!!

I have a HP PAVILION p6631p and ide like to add a graphics card, but I was told I had to upgrade my power supply.
The card I purchased is the SAPPHIRE RADEON R7 260X 2GB and I was told I need a 500watt or higher power supply.
I was looking at the CORSAIR BRAND power supplies and tried emailing them to help me find the right power supply, but they said they needed to know what type of power supplies HP use in this model PC.
I didnt know what to do so im hoping someone can help me out with this information CORSAIR is asking for so they can help select me the right power supply for my PC.
I been searching for answers for weeks. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks.

    KJonline, welcome to the forum.
You were told correctly.  You will have to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU) for the video card to work properly.
The PSU in the computer is a standard ATX.  I suggest measuring the existing PSU and comparing the measurements to the one you choose.
I normally suggest at least 500W, but 600W is better for future upgrades.  Here is a PSU that should work for you. It is 650W and is an Enthusiast series.  This means that it has all of the power that you will need.  It is 5.9" (W) x  3.4" (H) x 6.3" (L).

  • Needed, Advice for Graphics Card & OSX Capabilities

    I have a Dual 1 GHz Power PC G4 (Mirror Door) tower from 2002 (s/n#XB24706DMMA) (Model#M8570)
The graphics card is the original ATI 64MB AGP slot. Can anyone recommend a better card 128MB or 256MB?
Also, Currently I run OS 10.3.9 which is Panther.
Does anyone know how far up I can go with the Operating System? Tiger? Leopard?
    Thank you for any advice.

Hi Scott, see japamac's page about G4/G5 Graphic cards...

As far as OSes go, either Tiger or Leopard...
    Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
    * A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
    * Built-in FireWire
    * At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
    * DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
    * At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools (I recommend 20GB minimum)

Or Ali Brown's great info on where/how to find/get Tiger...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10381710#10381710
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
    * Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
    * 512MB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
    * DVD drive for installation
    * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
You have to call Apple & see if they still have Leopard available.

  • Win 7 on a31p / need driver for graphics card FireGL7800

    All greetings from snowy Russia!
I had to install Win7 on my laptop a31p, in general, I am very pleased with the speed and new features. All the drivers are set automatically, and even managed to get to work the battery icon in the system tray
But there is one big problem: I can not find drivers for FireGL 7800 graphics card
I wrote a request to ATI (now AMD) but ou redirected me to Lenovo, citing the fact that they do not write drivers for these cards.
I would be very grateful for assistance in finding the driver for Win7 or la Vista!
You can write me an email:     barmaley.russia  @  gmail.com
    Solved!

    Welcome to the forum!
There is NO driver for Vista or W7 when it comes Fire GL 7800 because it's simply considered underpowered to run any of these operating systems.
I've had to tweak the XP driver to get it working under W7, and results were less than spectacular, although not bad for a 7-year old machine.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
