half of my screen is blank, and its not under warranty anymore. does anyone no how 2 fix it, or should i just get a new 1

Your screen could be cracked.
It may be simply that your iPod's internal display isn't good, although the physical screen is.
In that case, you would try a restore on your iPod, which I suggest that you do -> Restoring your iPod
If you think that your iPod has a cracked screen, and you think it's worth it to fix it, you could send your iPod to iPodResQ, Broken iPods, or someplace similar to get its screen replaced.
If you'd like to go ahead and just buy a new one, that may be worth it more to just do that, although it's still you're choice to decide: your old iPod with a new screen, or buying a new iPod.

Half the screen is blank

So my nano did the whole freeze up thing... again. Except this time when i turned it on the top half of the screen was blank. It works "normally" besides that. Is there a way to fix this or do i need to get an entirely new ipod?

the screen wasnt cracked (at least not the outside of it or any place visable). but i finally took it in to the Apple Store in a mall near my house and the tech guy there said it was a malfunction and they gave me a new one for $29 (unless you want to buy the extended warrenty then it $59).

I have v. 3.6.8. It will display blank white pages at some site and not at others. I use safe mode and the access is reversed... what used to open doesn't and what didn't does. . .
Is anyone trying to fix this problem - or are users just left to chasing their tails on this issue?

MBP 17" half of screen goes blank

The bottom half of the screen will go blank and if I apply pressure to the bottom right corner of the screen it comes back momentarily. I took the thing apart and checked the cables and saw no real damage but a friend who knows more about these things told me it was a "LDMVA" cable (I think I may have mispelled this). Does anyone know the cable I am referring to? I am hoping it is just the cable and not the entire screen. Any suggestions?

Many such display issues can be addressed by replacing the inverter cable, or one of the cables in the screen. If your machine is under warranty, take it in for service. Run the hardware test that came with it.

Screen is blank on a t43. PLEASE help me!

I have a thinkpad t43. When I push power, it seems to turn on, but the screen is blank. When it turns on though it make beep signals, however, none of the suggested beep signals on the lenovo website match my beep signals. It makes four short beeps, followed by three long beeps. and the screen is blank. When its powered on, the power lights appear, and the CPU is clearly running. Frankly I don't know what to do. Please help me.

Yea i tried that already with every screen in my house and they all didnt work. I tried your idea of playing with the lighting, and that didnt seem to work either. I have been looking online and it seems that the security board is most likely the one to blame. Only problem is they cost half as much as the darn computer did. But i hope that im wrong.

Phone screen goes blank

It seems that after 911 fix(update) my phone screen goes blank after dialing and to enter voice mail I code have to keep pressing unlock button for screen to return for split second for each code digit. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I noticed exactly the same thing. It's a struggle to retrieve my voicemail because the screen goes blank and by the time I finally get to finish entering my voicemail password, the Verizon system times out and says goodbye.
COME ON VERIZON, MY PHONE IS NOT USEABLE LIKE THIS !!!
One thing gets fixed, 3 things get broken. Enough already.
Instead of giving us half-a*s "band-aid" updates, let's get us updated to FROYO and fix the darn phone the right way.

Dv7 3185dx- BIOS for 2 seconds, computer stays on, screen go blank

I've been looking at other posts for this problem and haven't seen one.
The screen obviously is working because it come on for the 2 seconds (tried to hook up a 2nd moniter and it has blank to.)
I changed the internal battery (CR2032)
I tried all the function keys and nothing??
The laptop is about 3 years old and used only a few times a week
I've got 6 dead HP laptops (no kidding) from over heating motherboards (parts??). This is different however.
Any advise would be great!!

The screen remains dark, startup didn't open, computer shut down.
Now when I press the power button the BIOS doesn't visually flash. The screen stays blank, the panel lights go on and 15secs later the computer turns off??
I called the HP number (Saturday) and was put on hold for over a half hour. The tech asked a bunch of questions, then asked for model number and serial number. She told me that the computer (purchased in 2009) is obsolete and they do not support (or have parts) for anything over 4 years old. Why was she asking my story? She said I can try a computer store. I asked what a computer store would do if the manufacturer doesn't have the parts needed fo a repair. She said some may still have parts but if they don't try another store?? (more time!!)
ADVISE: PLEASE WARN THE CUSTOMER ABOUT THE > THAN 4 YEAR POLICY... SOMEWHERE ON THE WEBSITE, ANSWERING SERVICE. MY TIME WAS WASTED AS WAS HP'S?

Screen stays blank following power management on idle?

Recently, I've noticed several occasions when I've returned to my laptop after some time to find that the screen is blank (or the display is off? is there a difference?) and that the display does not return on keypress etc.
I've found a number of threads about a superficially similar issue following sleep or attempted sleep but that's not the problem in my case. This has only happened to me (so far) on AC and the laptop is not set to sleep, suspend or hibernate automatically when on AC. Moreover, I don't think I've seen the problem following a resume from sleep etc. In fact, it is sometimes possible to restore the display by putting the machine to sleep and then waking it up. (Either put to sleep using sleep button or closing lid; waking by opening lid and hitting fn key.) All the other reports I've found describe a problem following an attempted sleep/suspend/hibernate.
The other way I can sometimes get the display back is by switching to another tty and then back to X. I'm not sure if it is just that the switch in itself changes something or if the problem is an X-specific one which is overcome by switching from and to X.
I haven't noticed any particular pattern to this. It doesn't happen every time and it is not directly related to how long the laptop is left idling. I might leave it for hours and find it resumes on any key press or I might leave it for half an hour and find I have to mess around to get the display back.
I realise that this is not enough information to suggest a solution (unless somebody recognises exactly the same issue) but I'm hoping somebody can suggest a way to figure out what's going on. Where should I be looking? I can't find anything especially obvious looking in dmesg, for example. (Might not mean much - glaringly clear might be non-obvious to me.) I also haven't found anything suspicious/relevant looking in e.g. ~/.xsession-errors.
I did find one warning from ACPI in dmesg output but googling this has just found a bunch of threads where people explain that it isn't really an error and is probably harmless - may even be importantly protective, in fact, and is just the kernel doing its job. The verdict seems to be: ignore and be happy. Just in case, here's the ACPI warning:

When ever i insert microsim my screen goes blank with just apple logo on screen ...Without sim it is ok...I dont know what to do

I just recently bought IPAD2....Whenever i inserted my microsim into sim tray, the screen goes blank with only apple logo to show...It does not start till i remove the sim and press both Home and Power buttons simulataneously...Can somebody help what shall i do????

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

When I am on a phone call and I double click the button to go to my home screen, then open another application (usually my calendar program, Calengoo), my screen goes blank and I am not able to return to either the app, the phone, or the home screen.

I run into situations similar to this about once per day during the work week, as I use my phone is this manner quite often. While not life altering it is quite frustrating. Can anyone here help me figure out a way to avoid this? If it helps, I have noticed a general downgrade in overall performance starting two system updates ago (apps opening more slowly, closing unexpectedly more often, etc.). I have an iPhone 3GS with the latest OS update.

I could be corrupted backup.
You can check the notification settings for message.
Settings>Notification Center>Messages>Alert Style
It should be on Banners or Alerts.
Settings>Messages> Turn on Imessage and send as SMS and below that "Blocked" to check if you have any numbers block might be blocking the message.
You can also do a hard reset by holding power and home till it restarts and release after seeing the apple logo.
Still doesn't work? Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings

Connect the device to iTunes and restore from the most current backup.
If the issue continues, restore as new.

My Mac's screen is blank white when starting up...Help!

This afternoon my web browser suddenly did not response. I had to shut down the computer by holding the power button.
Then I restarted up my Mac and the screen became blank gray, and then a flashing question mark.
Did some research, found a solution and followed: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440.
I met a trouble on the fourth step: Click the First Aid tab. The "repair disk" button is unavailable. After clicking the "verify disk permissions", First Aid failed because of "no valid packages".
Then, I tried to install Mac OS X. However, no destination volume showed up in "select a destination" page.
At this time, I feel exhausted and disappointed>_<. People here are so nice, so I am looking for some advices: what is my Mac's problem? How to fix it? Thanks a lot!

Recently i also got this flashing question mark error. The apple told me that its an Internal HD error.
Well how common is that with the macbook ?
The apple did changed my Internal HD ( for free). New one - Hitachi. I also have backup on my External HDD where the latest backup was 2 weeks before my Intenal HD crashed.
Is it safe to do the system restore completely on my new internal HD without causing any new problems ? As i have heard that the complete system restore can give lot of trouble.
And one more question, after getting repair, am I eligible to apply for Apple Care protection Plan ?
My warranty expires on 26th January 2010.
