Half of my websites are running unbearably slow

Since coming home from holiday at the weekend, some of the sites I use are working 'normally' ie not great but useable, while the other half are unbelievably slow, going on inaccessable.
I am using a BT hub4, and have not changed anything to do with my laptop or router which were left behind.
Is there anything I can do about it?
cheers,

  • SCDPM 2012 - backups are running dead slow

SCDPM 2012 - backups are running dead slow.
Below is the details of software and hardware.
    Server OS : WIndows Server 2008 R2
    DPM version : SCDPM 2012 , Version : 4.0.1920.0
    Server Hardware : Prolinet BL 460C G1
Tape drive - LTO 4 drives
    Network : HP NC325m PCIe Quad Port Adapter , driver version 16.1.0.1 ( 10/16/2013 )
Could you please help me to resolve this issue. Thanks
    Raghavendra Bhat

we've got a Windows Server 2008 R2 server that has been running DPM v4.0.1920.0 since it was released in
    10/18/2012.
    we are using D2D2T
We did have tape throughput performance issues initially, but after switching to the in-box LTO tape-drive drivers included with the operating system (instead on HP drivers), and setting several registry values associated with tape ports, we got it working.
     see http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/3cda9c6a-688d-4c2d-8dc0-9d04b8ea1f05/dpm-2012-not-filling-lto3-tapes?forum=dpmtapebackuprecovery
The best advice to speed up the D2D part of the backup is to configure any antivirus software if present to not perform any real-time scanning made by the DPMRA.EXE and DRSR.EXE executables.
Don't backup the system drive of the DPM server to tape, because there are as many junctions as you have protected volumes define, which makes the backup not work at all.
Also, for the system being backed up D2D,

  • My all reports are running very slow now, I am using Reports 6i?

    Dear Friends,
My all reports are running very slow now, I am using Reports 6i. A few months ago there speed is better. Please suggest me the solution of this problem.
    Best regards,
    Shahzad

Get statspack/AWR running against your database and analyze the reports. 15 minutes interval between snaps should be enough.
That should give you a clue as to what is going wrong in your database.
Since you are saying that the reports speed was better a few months ago, it is possible that you are suffering from "data growth".

  • Reports are running deliberately slower

    Hi,
After the installation of office 2007 reports are running vey slow.
Can any one let me know what is the reason.

    Hi,
First check using ST03 where the most time is being taken. Based on that decide where the problem lies, i.e front end, network, backend. Based on what you describe , it looks like a backend problem with the data volumes. Some of the things you need to look at are :
    1. First of all compress the cube data and also the aggregate data.
    2. Look to see if you need to create more aggregates.
    3. Through RSRV check the status of the indices.
    4. Would be a good idea to drop and rebuild the indexes.
    5. Check the statistics on the cubes. They should be green. Regenerate the statistics.
    6. Think about deleting the old data from the cube. Talk to your business, and see if they still need the data that is  5 yrs old, to report on and if not suggest you delete that data. That'll help tremendously. Even if they need that data, look at ways you can archive that data someplace and then delete it from the cubes.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Flash runs unbearably slow on my Powerbook, help!

    Heya,
So I'm running a 12" Powerbook with a 1.33 Ghz G4, 1.25 GB RAM, and an NVidia GeForce FX Go5200 64MB RAM... Flash runs unbearably slow on my machine and it just happened all of the sudden. Although this issue came up the first time about two years ago I just bore the burden of it. But being a web developer it's just ridiculous. Now this only happens with videos, and no it's not related to the buffer, I've read that there an issue with Flash rendering techniques that caused it to slow down dramatically at like Flash 8 or something. I desperately need help resolving this and I'm wondering if anyone can help?? Thanks!

    Hello,
How much available disk space is there?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Your Mac needs free disk space in order to render video. Could that be the issue?
Wouldn't hurt to check the boot disk for errors:
If not, shut down PBook. Now, press the power button, hold down the C key, and insert the restore disk all at the same time. Keep holding down the C key until you see the Apple logo. An Installer window will open but DO NOT proceed with any installations, instead from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. In the DU window, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab and click: Verify If DU reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar select Utilities/Startup Disk and select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.

  • HT4718 I upgraded my OSX to Version 10.8.4 and all operations are running very slow, especially my online browsing.  Anyone else have this problem, and can undo the update?

I saw an update was available and trusted without exploring what was involved.  Now all applications are running
slow including anything having to do with the internet.  Can I uninstall the update?

Start up in Safe Mode. Connect to your router with an ethernet cable, as your wifi may not work, and apply the 10.8.4 Combo update.

  • ITunes runs unbearably slow

Running on a Dell laptop with Vista, everything about iTunes is incredibly slow - starting up, browsing the library, accessing the store, etc.
Videos are especially choppy. I've had to resort to loading them onto my iPod and using it to watch them. I tried disabling Quicktime DirectX, etc., but that didn't seem to help. Videos run fine in WMP.

If they play well in WMP then I would consider a software conflict, outdated drivers or malware. Make sure you are running the newest version of iTunes. Also how much hard drive space do you have left on your main drive after everything got reloaded? Also, which CPU do you have? What is the speed of the hard drive?
    You didn't say what Anti-virus software you run, but I would start by running a reputable online scan;
Housecall (through www.trendsecure.com - Security tab)
    Bitdefender - www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
Panda Active Scan - www.pandasecurity.com/usa/ (They will charge to remove any malware found).
I've been running iTunes on Vista and have even been playing with it in Windows 7, and response has been good. Both on my desktop and laptop.

  • This is a question for all my adobe applications in the CS6 suite. How do i manually update them? I have not gotten any updates in about 6 months and they are running really slow. I really think this is the issue. How can i do this?

I am a full sail university film student and I need all my adobe applications running strong. Everything is running slow and sluggish. I think this might be the issue. Does anyone know how to manually update the adobe Cs6?

What does your computer's sluggishness have to do with any potentially missing updates? That's pretty much nonsense. The last AE update was the 11.0.4 one from November, anyway, and it's only relevant for Mac people more or less. Whatever issues you have have nothing to do with that but rather poor system configuration and maintenance - fragmented cache disks, disks almost full with temp files, too many other processes/ programs running and gobbling up resources, aggressive external tools like virus scanners blocking access to files and functions and so on. Really, you are completely looking in the wrong place. Bring your computer up to speed and AE will run a lot better.

  • Mavericks Safari Runs unbearably slow ever time I 'command+t'

I have mavericks running on my 2009 Mac Pro and 13" Macbook Air. There is always a lag in opening new tab that a link automatically sends me to or if I want to open a new tab by clicking "command+t". But If I cmd-click a link, the tab is created immediately in the background.  It's never been the case before mavericks.
When I first installed Mavericks there was no issue and things ran like butter. Now not so much (safari).

  • HT4623 I have no sound. I can't watch any videos. Everything is running very slow. Please advise

I have no sound even though the volume is turned to max. I cannot watch any videos on face book or YouTube. Games are running very slow. I've tried updating but it says software is up to date.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Help! 3month old Macbook Air is running sooooo slow

I have always had and loved Apple products, so when I wanted a new laptop, straight to the apple store it was. I did my research beforehand and consulted with the sales person and concluded that a basic macbook air should more than suit my needs. I use the computer daily at work to sort through multiple email accounts, look at spreadsheets, docs, etc, and store personal photos (I'm not a photographer or anything and my library is not excessive). I've had the computer since November and it is already running unbearably slow! Browsing the internet is awful and time consuming. I have only downloaded necessary and authentic software (such as microsoft office, some installers for adobe and random scanners at work) nothing sketchy or illegal. Why is a brand new computer sucking sooo bad? I've checked and made sure I don't have any malware or viruses, I'm left seriously questioning my apple loyalty. Any ideas?

Take it back to the Apple Store and make them fix it. See if they'll put Mavericks back/on it. There have been slowdown issues with Yosemite.

  • APO - SNP Alert Macros running too slow

    Hi,
We have created alert macros which run for next 27 weeks for 38000 Product-Location Combinations. They are running too slow.
We are deleting alerts externally using program /sapapo/amon_reorg and then running this macro with "ADD" . This macro slows down once it starts filling up alert table with 100,000 records. What are the best practices for writing the macro so that it runs fast ?.
    Thanks.

Is it necessary to write all the alerts? What I mean is, do you filter the results when you view them through the Alert Monitor?
If your alert profile has a minimum threshold set for an alert type, then you can read this threshold in the macro and only write alerts that fall below the threshold.
    e.g.
      Step: Get Threshold Values : ( 1 Iterations :Initial;Initial )
        Action Box: Get Threshold Value
          LAYOUTVARIABLE_SET( 'Alert_Thresh' ;
          ALERT_PROFILE_THRESH( SDP_ALERT_PROFILE' ; '4100' ; 'I' ) )
Where SDP_ALERT_PROFILE is the profile that contain sthe minimum threshold you want to use and 4100 is the alert type. The I is for information, can use either W for Warning or E for Error as well.
Then use the variable Alert_Thresh to check if your value falls below this, only then write the alert.

    Ian
