Half of the monitor got darker [Photo Included]
The imac was working fine until 2hrs ago.
The half of the monitor, which is upper part is darker and it fades and gets clearer on the bottom.
Anyone know what the problem is?

A few seconds after my iMac came out of sleep the top half of the monitor went dim. I'll post again once I hear from Apple.

Dimming of the monitor during dark picture
Here's the beef. I've got a Sony Bravia M400 hooked up to my MBP and its a beautiful picture. However... whenever the picture on the screen contains a lot of black color, like a photo of nightime or a night scene from a movie, the Bravia screen dims slightly. I can tell you what the problem is not. I've proven that the problem is not the TV, nor the inputs. Also, I've turned off ambient light adjustment on the MBP, even though it is in clamshell. It is not the power supply, as I've tried both with and without power, and the initial dimming time is consistent in movies (I rewatch scenes to prove it to myself). What is left must be the connection between the MBP and the TV or the MBP itself. Is there a setting that I am overlooking on the MBP? Its getting really frustrating watching high quality movies that are ruined by screen dimming. I need some help.
After all that had to be done, open the laptop, he wakes up, thinks that there is an external monitor ...
And then a black screen. And on the telecom and on the laptop. No action to recover the life of laptop does not work.

Display with horizontal lines on half of the monitor

Anyone knows what the issue might be with this laptop monitor?
It shows very fine horizontal lines but only on right half of the display.Probably a GPU issue. Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a definitive analysis. There will be no software solution for this hardware problem.

Iphone camera is not combining the light and dark photos but is presenting them as separate photos

My friend showed me his iPhone 4 today and every time he takes a photo a dark version and a lighter version are shown, not combined as one but as two separate photos. I believe I remember that the camera takes more than one shot and combines the best of both, his camera is not combining them. How do instruct him to fix this problem?

I have a Mac Mini and I love it! My problem is another computer.
I had an old mac computer that I mailed and gave to my sister since I didn't really use it anymore. It's a Power Macintosh 8500/120, and it has a G3 card in it. Anyway, I mailed it to her, and when she plugged everything, she turned it on and there is a startup chime, she hears the fan or drive noise, and the button light on the monitor comes on green, but then it turns amber and it goes no further. The light button on the CPU shows green, so I don't think there's anything wrong there, but the monitor remains dark.
Everything was working fine just before I shipped it to her. She's checked all the connections, made sure everything was plugged in correctly, checked to make sure that the wall socket is working, and she even resetted the PRAM a few times, and still no screen shows up on the monitor, nor the happy face icon, nor anything else, just a dark dark screen remains as if the monitor was off. What could have gone wrong, and what can we do to get it to work again?
We don't know what to do since we don't even have an owner's manual anymore, and when I moved out of state, I don't know what happened to my OS CD, so she can't even look up any info or re-install anything.
I've tried searching for a manual for a Power Macintosh 8500/120 online, but I've had no luck there either. We don't know what to do to get out of this predicament on our own, but we appreciate any help you can give us.

My son is in school in Federal Way and could fix just about any old Mac. RE PC is a recycled computer store in Renton/Tukwila. It is just a few blocks north of Goodwill. Both are great places to watch for good stuff.
Unfortunately, the malfunctioning equipment is in Texas. The assumption is that when the computer was disconnected from power and shipped to Texas, the fact that the internal computer battery was dead caused the stored parameters to be lost. That is not a bad thing, just a setback to old settings. A new battery will not reset the parameters so the suggestion was made to reset the PRAM as well.

Once you rule out the obvious battery issues, the next question is why the monitor is not getting a signal. Newer equipment that is Energy Star compliant will go into energy save mode when not actively used. The CPU sends signals and multi-sync monitors send signals. The timing of those signals will determine the proper operation of a monitor. When the monitor LED turns amber, it means that it is not getting a video signal from the computer.
Did you happen to have a monitor card in the 8500? Are all cards seated tightly? Can your sister check or have a friend check to see that all cards are seated properly? The G3 upgrade also introduces new video processing issues so having everything properly connected would be the first place to start to rule out hardware issues.
As Grant indicated, any adapter used to convert a VGA monitor to Mac use will affect the signal. Having the monitor model name and number would help pin down the issues involved. If your sister could find a Mac monitor that is not multi-sync at a recycler like PE PC, that would give her a way to test connections without all the other issues introduced by energy save and multi-sync monitors.
Please post back with a few more details about the monitor and cables/adapters.

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model? What operating system? What program are you printing from?
Some programs such as Photoshop give the option to print to CMYK or sRGB color spaces. Even though the printer uses CMYK inks the driver is expecting sRGB data. If CMYK is selected the prints will be much too dark.
Another thing to check is the media type. If you are printing on plain paper and have seelcted Photo paper the prints have too much ink.

Pavilion 23xi left half of the screen seems stripy and darker
when using the computer left half of the screen suddenly flashed green and got darker, seems like it's stripy, like covered with a thin black net. i tried updating graphics drivers, restarting computer, changing monitors settings like refresh rate and stuff nothing helped.

How do I calibrate the monitor to the printed photo for equal color tone and brightness?
Where in the program do I calibrate the monitor color to the resulting printed color. My printed photo is much duller and "blacker" than the monitor. Other color programs has a setup section to plug in the monitor's ICC profile along with the printer used so the resulting printed photo is very close to your adjusted photo on the monitor.

i replaced my old iphone to a new one.. i want to get my photos from icloud,,,, i had almost 3 gb of photos backed up on icloud,,, how can i transfer all those photos to my new phone,, i tried but i only got 90 photos. those are the recent one. i had almost 1000 photos in icloud back up?plz hlp
You should call Apple Support and give them your Apple ID so that they can verify how many photos you actually do have backed up in iCloud...
Also, are you able to do an iTunes backup at all? Because that would save all of the photos and allow you to get them onto the new device.

There were 273 photos in the event syncing from my Mac, but only the last 103 made it to the ipad. Most of the photos were taken by an iphone. I would appreciate any thoughts or insights - thanks.Adrian-
That error message suggests the photo is somehow corrupt.
Do you have the Apple Camera Connection Kit? You can set up a USB thumb drive with MS-DOS FAT-32 format and copy your photos to it into a folder named DCIM. Assuming they have an 8 character plus suffix name, the iPad will recognize them and give you the option of transferring them via the Kit's USB adapter.
Once they are transferred, you can find out if there is a problem with any.

After creating a new slideshow I export it with the setting HD 1080p it is then saved as a .mov i then create a dvd in idvd and the quality is not as good as the original photo's when viewed on the monitor or a TV, am i doing something wrong?
DVD's are only 640 x 480 (interlaced), so yes, the quality is not nearly as good. You should probably create your .mov in DV format to best match the DVD format

Are there photos in the Library? If not then just trash it and launch iphoto. It will make a new one.
If there are pics in it then Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
