Halftone Image Effect

Looking to create this effect on an image in photoshop (halftone effect with dotted clipping mask). Can anyone give me the name of this effect and point me to a tutorial on how to do this effect and clipping mask style?
Example: http://www.yamaha.com/soundsofsummer/ (large image of drums in the middle of the page)

And the dotted Mask can be achieved with the Filters mentioned by the previous posters applied to a Layer Mask.
If maintained editability for the Mask is a concern one could go with another, rather convoluted method with Smart Object in Smart Object and then Clipping Mask to that.
Edit: Sometimes I might overdo it with the Smart Objects – the second SO is actually unnecessary as it could just as well be done in the first SO …

How do I place on ID a halftone image made in PS and keep the halftone?

I'm really not finding anything about this, so i'm starting to think I can't do it. I'm using CS5. Here it goes:
I'm making a magazine layout as a college excercise. I want to use halftone images in one or two ink (some only black, others only cyan, or magenta, or both, etc) for this and I want the halftone to be noticeable but not so big that it turns my photo into an abtract image or a weird Lichtenstein. To try it, I grabbed one of the images in PS, separated the channels in different layers, used the halftone effect and got exactly what I wanted.
The thing is, when I place it on ID, it looks like... well, really bad. I already tried with High quality display.
Other things I tried:
Placing the image as both JPG and PSD. (No difference)
Exporting (printing) to PDF and looking at the result (really bad).
I haven't tried printing it on paper yet, but I assume it shouldn't change much, right? And i haven't tried with different dot sizes either, I'm going for that now.
FYI, this is for single digital printing, and not offset, it won't be sent to a printer.
Any help, advices or comments will be much appreciated. Any grammar correctiosn will be appreciated to, as english is secon language to me.

In addition to Peter's suggestion, the halftoned bitmap is line art so it needs more resolution to accurately draw the dots. So:
If you add color ideally it should be 100% value combinations so you don't have a printer screen interfering. Above is 100% magenta back with 100%cyan+100%magenta for the halftone line art

Ok with one image effect but not two ?? explorer problem, firefox is ok...

I'm aiming for a the image effect at the top with imagerotator and a coverflow type effect at the bottom.
I put the coverflow viewer in first and it worked fine on firefox and explorer.
then i added in the image rotator. Both work good in firefox but in explorer I only get the top image rotator, no coverflow lower down. What could be causing this? can anyone please help. thanks.

what about if you install the flash? do both work or can you only see the top one still??

Need help with a mirror image effect

For most of our product photos, I create a copy of the image, flip it vertically, fade it out, and then move it down to create a mirror image effect. Simple enough. But this one I'm having a problem. The product has 4 legs, and from this view, the back 2 legs are shorter. When I do my normal steps that I listed, I get similar to what you see below. I know all about drawing a marquee around part of the reflection, hitting Ctrl+T and then holding down Ctrl+Shift to skew just what's in the marquee. I've done this technique a lot, but it does not work for this particular image. What do I have to do to get the reflection of the back legs to line up with the actual back legs in the image? Thanks.

Well, Photoshop is not a 3D rendering program and you can only fake it by painting or assembling the reflection using your artistic skills and knowledge of perspective and reflections. From certain angles and with certain objects this could be quite easily done by just mirroring the 2D image but in other cases like this it wont' work. I made a quick scene in a 3D program to show you how the refection will actually be in real life - you will see the bottom of the table in the reflection and this is missing from the 2D image. You can assemble and position separately parts of the reflection from the 2D image by using the front sides of the table and and legs but the rest (bottom) of table has to be created from scratch.

"Flip-book" like image effect in Captivate 5

Hello all ! New to the forum and pretty new to captivate over here ! I just wondered if you could help me with something ! How to make a flip-book like image effect ? Hi Scott.
As far as I know, that is not a function built into Cp5. It looks like some kind of flash animation/widget built otuside Captivate and then imported.
If someone else knows otherwise, please chime in. Or if that widget can be downloaded somewhere, I'd love to take a look at it.

Image Effects Missing in PremPro CS4?

Hi - I was watching a tutorial recently where you can drag and drop image effects on your video footage in PPro CS4. So I went to mine and I think mine is missing. Please see snapshot below:
Are these image effects (the kind that will boost color, add a soft appearance like it's a dream, add other color or image effects to give them a film look, etc.) free with my copy or do I have to pay for them? If free, where can I download them?

If you can recall, at least part of the name of the Effect used, in the Query Box, just begin typing it. The list will shorten to only show Effects per the character string that you enter. Do not forget to clear that, when you have found what you are looking for, to get back to the full list.
For Color "enhancement," you might be thinking about some of the various Color Correction Effects?

Mirror image effect

Hey, I'm not a real Mac user, but I was trying to help a friend with his website that he created through iWeb. On every page he had one image in which approximately the bottom third of the image was mirrored (upside-side) underneath the picture. However, one one particular page, the effect wasn't working--I've tried this in several browsers and can't figure out what the problem with the image is.
At first I thought it had something to do with PNG transparency support in current browsers (it seems that he started out using JPEG, and then iWeb changed it to PNG to do the effect). However, then he pointed out that the effect was working in all the other pages' images.
So, I'm wondering if maybe we just need to figure out how to insert the image again with that effect. The problem is, I think he did the image effects during a wizard when he was initially creating the images, and now I'm wondering how to insert a new image and apply that effect to it. I've explored all the images up at the top, but I've been unsuccessful so far in doing that or browsing the help or searching online (probably doesn't help that I'm not used to OS X).

Some of the templates in iWeb use the "reflection" effect by default. If you have other images to which you would like to add this reflection effect, all you have to do is to select the image object by clicking on it, then in the Shape tab of the inspector there is a box and slider bar to enable the reflection effect and vary it to your liking.

Flash image effect - how is this done?

I have an fla with an image effect in it. You can see the swf

I just can't figure out how this is done. It is the same jpeg
in the same symbol one on top of the other. The upper one has a
tween but I can't see anything that changes during the tween.
I'd love to know how this is done.

Frame 1: Select image, Look at properties window. Color:
"Advanced" - click "Settings" and you see that R, G, and B have
values of +255 (pure white)
Frame 20, same process. R,G,B have values of +13
The tween moves the image from +255 of each color to +13 to

How do you create a mirror image effect on imovie 2014?

All the tutorials online show how to create a mirror image effect on imovie 2011, however there are none showing how to do it on the current version.

You can't do this in iPhoto.

There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

Looking for image effects app

I would like to know what's the best app for adding effects to images, like shaddows, reflections, borders, etc. I tried Pictureesque, but it seems limited. I would like to know if there are any other apps like Pictureesque that do more? I'm looking for a good piece of software for under $50.

How would I achieve a "magnify" image effect on an image that is only visible on "hover"

I have come to understand that Adobe Edge Animate can now load external javascript script into projects. So I would like to use this feature to load a "maginfy/zoom" effect onto an image that will be revealed once a button is clicked on. To clarify the process I had in mind would go something like this:
1. There is a map the user can view
2. When a user hovers thier mouse over sections of the map a "callout box" would appear
3. Inside that "callout box" would be further information about that particular section as well as an image
4. When the user hovers over that image, it would magnify similar to this: http://www.elevateweb.co.uk/image-zoom/examples (see the "inner zoom" example)
I've tried loading the elevatezoom.js script into a project, but I don't quite understand how I would apply this effect to a "hidden" image. Most effects like this rely on external css styles, as well as specific "ID" names in order to call the function. Once the project is saved and published, when I try to view the HTML to add those "ID" names my images are not viewable.
Would someone mind helping me with this? I'd be most grateful.

I actually found a solution just as I was checking your replies. Thank you so much for the help though. I ended up getting zoom.js to work within the project.

After added the external scipts (jquery-1.7.1.min.js, jquery.zoom-min.js) I was able to get the magnify effect to work on a image that is revealed upon hover. I've uploaded an example for anyone who would want to do this as well.

Is there a feature in cs5 where I can convert images (monochrome) to a halftone pattern ready for printing on a litho press?

Sorry, but RoboHelp does not offer a method to achieve this. Unfortunately that's a huge hint that Adobe isn't using RoboHelp to develop those pages.
If that's the effect you are after, you will need to roll your own with some JavaScript that does a hide and show on text and images.
One way you might achieve it with a single image would be to insert the image *TWICE* on the page. Then scale one pretty small. Take the full sized image and tuck it inside a Dynamic HTML drop-down. The net effect would be that the user would click to see the full sized image (revealing the DHTML drop-down) and the smaller version would be "pushed" farther down the page.

Html5 image effects

I bought this extension and cannot get it to work on the pop-up. No clear instructions with it really. Where does the pop up link go? Its all very vague although I find Dreamweaver very easy to use. On viewing my efforts in a browser all I can see is a narrow clear vertical column which does not respond let alone pop up. I wonder if it is faults in my storage folders. Do I store a large and small image in the folder with the effects? Any help appreciated please!!

This appears to be a 3rd party extension. I don't know anything more about it than that. Did you read the online documentation in the developer's site?
