HANA hardware instead of Business Warehouse Acellarator in the Enterprise Search scenario

Hello SAP experts,
we have a use case at the Australian Department of Human Services where we
want to try out SAP Enterprise Search but have no BWA hardware. Instead we have HANA boxes.
Can we use HANA hardware for the functionality the Business Warehouse Acellarator in the Enterprise Search scenario delivers (Trex indexing , Snapshot queries)?
Thanks for a quick answer...
Cheers
Oliver Buschmann

Hi Oliver,
in generally it should be possible. However in the BWA case it could be hardware dependend . You can prove  if your HANA box is fine for BWA installation using the checkBIA.py script which is a part of the BWA installation. Or you can just put the information about your HANA hardware here and we check it for you.
Best regards,
Mikhail

  • Printing of cheque under company code instead of business area

    hai sap gurus
pls help us in this issue
At the time of running automatic payment program separate cheques were printing to a single vendor as per business area, now the client is asking that single cheques is to be issue to the vendor under company code instead of business area wise, but the same vendor is supplying the material to those business area.  Can we make the settings as per the requirement?
    many thanks in advance
    bye for now
    kishore

    Dear Kishore,
I understand that your company wants to pay a vendor one cheque irrelevant of multiple business area transactions. If my understanding is correct, this can be handled by removing the tick in pay per business area
    Step
    transaction code - FBZP
    Tab                    - Paying company code.
Control Data      - Remove the tick from Seperate payment   per business area.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Create blueprint/process structure for Business Warehouse

As we are quite good at the moment with having our ERP processes modeled in a blueprint in Solution Manager, we also would like to start doing this for the Business Warehouse processes.
The main challenge here is that our BW is mostly used and accessed via the portal, meaning there are no transaction codes I can assign
My question now is: how to setup the processes in the blueprint so that they can be used later in a test plan, and in the end for end user testing? Does anyone have experience in this?
    Thanks for your feedback,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
Yes you can do the same, chk my blog

  • Have Firefox home page set for Google search, but each following tab opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo and have Google home page on every tab????

As I said above: I Have Firefox browser home page set for Google search, but each following tab (but suddenly now it) opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo search off the added tabs and have Google home page/ blank tab (like it used to be) on every tab????

The new Firefox Start Page - '''about:home''' - isn't the same homepage that was used in earlier versions of Firefox - http://www.google.com/firefox There is no "setting" for the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" - in the Options UI or in about:config .
Set that old "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" as your "homepage". <br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
Or open your Profile folder and delete the '''webappsstore.sqlite''' file and hope the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" returns to Google. When it '''''is''''' Google, the Google logo appears to the left of the "Search Container"; when the search engine there has been changed to something else, there is no logo to the left of the "Search Container" - AFAIK.

  • Free Trial SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 incl. SAP Business Objects BI 4.1 SP2 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7

    I have 2 questions:
Relating to accepting Terms and Conditions:
If I click <Try Now> for solution SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 incl. SAP Business Objects BI 4.1 SP2 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7
and scroll down Terms and Conditions, the button <I Accept> remains disabled.
Other solutions like SAP HANA, developer edition 1.0 Rev 80 I can accept.
I have to mention, that so far I have no CAL account
Is it possible to choose another Amazon Instance Type - instead of the default one (r3.8xlarge with 244 GB RAM)?
I don't need 244 GB RAM on my BW on HANA server.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Harald,
ad 1) I assume that this is caused by a browser bug. Which browser (IE8, FF31, Lynx, ...) are you using on which operating system (Windows 7, SUSE Linux, ...)? Have you tried another browser to narrow down the possible root causes?
ad 2) The 244Gb instance is not only hosting HANA but also the ABAP/BW portion. In order to have all the demo scenarios of the BW on HANA Trial working it is required that the HANA server has 244GB of memory available. With less than 244Gb the demo scenarios wouldn't work and then there would be users complaining ;-)

  • SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA with ERP-System

    Hello,
I have a running Instance of SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8.
Here I have the minisap Licence of A4H.
When I get the Licence of ERP - do I have a fully ERP System on HANA ?
Or do I need a new Instance?

    Hi Julia,
even if you or your company have an SAP license for ERP, you are legally not allowed to install the license key into the free offering it because you have accepted the terms and conditions of the trial/developer version.
If you want to use your own licenses, you would need to switch to the BYOL model where you bring in the license. For that you would need to purchase the SAP Cloud Appliance Library subscription. You get more details here (CAL FAQ - Business related questions ). To purchase the SAP Cloud Appliance Library subscription you would need to select the "Unlock full library" link on the top right corner of the Subscriptions screen on http://cal.sap.com.

  • Cant find 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition]'

I have successfull installed and been running 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7 [Developer Edition]'
In my CAL-account I have seen that 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition]' has become available.
Searching 'AWS Marketplace' with 'SAP HANA one' only brings up the version (SP5-7) I already have installed. How am I supposed to proceed to install the latest version (SP8-8)?

It wasn't removed. I and at least one other person reported it as abusive, because it contains just a link. I think after three reports, it's automatically hidden until the moderator rejects it permanently, or releases it. In this case, it was released.
Now, why did I report it? Well, the common view (obviously not shared by the moderator here), is that posts like that
    1) Indicate the original poster (in this case you) could have searched for yourself to find the same link
    2) Damage the site as a whole, as you end up with just a whole bundle of links from one place to another and no real content
    3) Encourage posting of FAQ
My experience is that quite often the link isn't in fact relevant, and is just the result of the first hit of a keyword search using google. In this case it was relevant - but couldn't you have searched and found it yourself?
In the areas I moderate, posts that constitute a single link are rejected as a matter of course. See this blog for a full and complete discussion: Posting links and the jungle you end up in..

  • Benefits of SAP Business Warehouse Reporting compared with the Query-tools?

    Hello experts,
I've been creating reports with SAP Query tools, but been faced with few problems. First of all, there are restricted possibilities in terms of joining tables, and thus I cannot include all the data required for the report.
One solution for this would have been to create separate queries and join the data together in Excel. The problem with this is that there exists no common field that would make sense as for a selection criterion. If the selection criterion is different in different queries, there is the danger of combining false data together, which would eventually result with distorted data.
So I was wondering, could anyone briefly tell me if SAP Business Warehouse reporting would solve these problems? And what other benefits would it provide compared with the SAP Query? I'd urgently need to know if it would be a beneficial investment for the company, since I haven't found solutions for the problems occurred in the creation of reports.
Thank you in advance for you help!
    Maria

The answers are yes - and thousands of companies have gone down this route
Puttingin BW is a strategic aim of the comapny and not to be thought about and discussed in a BI forum such as this
The costs of implementation and hardware will no doubt make your eyes water.
To be quite honest SAP BI is a "no brainer" as most of the new e-SOA and new R3 modules reply on BW for their reporting needs

  • Diff b/w Data warehouse and Business Warehouse

    Hi all,
what is the Diff b/w Data warehouse and Business Warehouse?

    hi..
The diferrence between Datawarehousing and Business Warehouse are as follows.
DataWarehousing is the concept and BIW is a tool that uses this concept in Business applicaitons.
DataWarehousing allows you to analyze tons of data (millions and millions of records of data) in a convinent and optimum way, it is called BIW when applied to Business applications like analyzing the sales of a company.
Advantages- Consedering the volume of business data, BIW allows you to make decisions faster, I mean you can analyze data faster. Support for multiple languges easy to use and so on.

  • Portal Activity Reporting and SAP Business Warehouse

    Hi,
Does anyone out there know if SAP has or plans in the near future to deliver Portal Activity Reporting content via SAP Business Warehouse?
I would have thought BW would have been the ideal solution to enable some "out of the box" Portal Content in terms of extracting the data from the tables used for the Portal Activity reports, and then extracting them to BW for slicing/dicing & Presentation.
The current standard Portal Activity reporting does not supply what we need. We don't want to spend time and money developing this ourselves if SAP has plans to deliver it in the near future.
    Any news please?
    Cheers, Phil G.

  • Crystal Report with Universe instead of Business Views: Any limitations ?

    Hi,
We were using Crystal Reports on top of Business Views  until now. Due to considerable post-migration work with Crystal Reports on top of Business Views we are thinking of switching to Crystal Reports  on top of Universe.
Can anybody explain me whether there is any drawback while using *Universe with Crystal Reports* instead of Business Views with Crystal Reports.
Please consider the following pointswhile giving an evaluation -
       Dynamic parameter
    (ii)  LOV creation and maintainence
    (iii) Maintaining order of parameters
(iv) Updating Universe/Business View level changes in Report (Verify database)
    (v) Report performance
    Your advice/views is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Neonevin

    Here are my views..
Yes, you can create crystal reports on top of universes. But there is one major drawback using universe. You can connect to only one database at a time. But in Business View you can connect to multiple databases. If you are ok with this, you can absolutely go for universes.
Dynamic parameter  --- Yes its possible
(ii) LOV creation and maintainence  --- Whatever the LOVs you  have in universe, you can use the same. And also you can use LOVs created in Business Views  while creating reports on top of universes. Any how please check. not very sure about it.
(iii) Maintaining order of parameters --- Yes, the order of parameters can be managerd using universe designer itself.
(iv) Updating Universe/Business View level changes in Report (Verify database) -- No need of updates required to be done in report. There are few changes which can happen for universe. Seemlessly you don't need to do anything to reports. Unless you delete some objects in universe.
    (v) Report performance -- Never checked in this perspective. Performance should be fine.

  • Need for helps in Business Warehouse

    Hihi,
I would like to request for experts out there to help me up on this problem:
Step 1 : From Business Warehouse, i tried to pull the records (infopackage) from ECC with the tariff code "abc123" -> failed
Step 2: I tried again by set the conditions to pull  the records with tariff "abc123" and date : before april -> it is work!!
As per above description, it proved that the failure in data pulling is not because of the tariff code, does you all have any solution for me on this? I need this urgently.
[I confirmed the data for APRIL, MAY have no problem and in ECC (RSO2) - the function module do pick up those records (which didnt show up in BW site)].
Hope can hear from you all soon.

    Hello,
Are you getting any ST22 dumps while loading data? Please check ST22.
You may try to load data by reducing the data packet size. Go to(Infopackage) Scheduler -> Data Source. Default Data Transfer and reduce the packet size there. Also try loading it till PSA only and then load above.
It would be difficult to analyze why there is error for only 1 record but most probably it would be the packet size, so try reducing it.
Also go through the below forum discussions to further drill-down into the issue details:

  • About Business Intelligence and Business Warehouse.

    Greetings Gentilemen,,
I'm currently working as an ABAP Consultant, but i want to get information about Business Intelligence and Business Warehouse because I want to pursue my career as a functional consultant.
What do i need to study and do i have to get access to BW system to do some self studying ?!
    TIA

    Hi
You're on the right track. The Oracle 11g database does indeed come with OWB. Out of the box, OWB can and will work with OLAP. However, are you licensed for OLAP? That is an add-on to the standard Oracle database license and, if I'm not mistaken, a separate install option too. I'm not 100% certain but I don't think the base Oracle database installer gives you the OLAP objects, I think you have to choose the custom install. Please make sure you buy the right license though.
As for ad-hoc querying and reporting, Discoverer will do you just fine. It is very reasonably priced and, as you say, it is part of the Oracle BI Standard Edition.
BI Enterprise Edition is the top of the range Oracle model for BI. It can do the same as Discoverer plus some - at a price! Personally, if you only want to work with some ad-hoc queries I would start out with Discoverer as it is the easiest to install and learn. Its also the cheapest entry point into the BI world. Later, if you decide that Discoverer is not for you then you can pay the BI EE license fee and upgrade. Oracle will even have tools that will allow you to upgrade your metadata and existing reports. Therefore, don't think that by starting out with Discoverer that you will be locking yourself into that tool because you will not.
    Best wishes
    Michael
