HANA Installation Certification - E_HANAINS142 or E_HANAINS141

Hello ,
Anyone cleared HANA Installation Certification ? Can anybody share his/her experience in preparing this examination with sample questions
Thanks and Regards,
Hemant Kumar

Hello Hemant, Amerjit
I understand your anxiety with E_HANAINS141/142. If you have cleared C_HANATEC141 you are eligible to pursue E_HANAINS141. Please check with SAP for the availability of E_HANAINS141 seats. As E_HANAINS142 is released, I would advise not to delay E_HANAINS141 certification.
Two months preparation is a good time to appear E_HANAINS141 -SAP Certified Technology Specialist: SAP HANA Installation. I cleared my certification of E_HANAINS141 in March. The materials linked to the article by Denys are very helpful. And yes, SAP Academy videos are useful for understanding the practical approach to passing the certification.
What I have not refered to is HA100 or HA200, instead I kept my faith in the references in the below article by Denys:
SAP Certified Technology Specialist: SAP HANA Installation - by the SAP HANA Academyhttp://scn.sap.com/community/hana-in-memory/blog/2014/06/30/ehanains131#comment-580699
I would suggest not to leave any topic area unread. Always refer to SP07 Guides from http://help.sap.com/hana_platform_earlier_releases?current=hana_platform#section3
Develop an eye as to how to expect the questions by references to the sample questions. Expect no surprises during the exam. Questions are tricky and sometimes derivative. Refer to SPS07 Administrative Guide, Security Guide and Update Configuration Guide. Concentrate on System Landscape Planning - challenging topic area for E_HANAINS141.
The safe course for a true certification hypochondriac is to keep your study in perpetuity . The above references are enough to clear the certification without doubt. Exam is tricky in few topic areas, however "Theory of Elimination" with "reason" from all relevant Guides is easy approach to finding right answers.
Be lighthearted when you are in certification center.
Good Luck !
Regards
SRK

• SAP B1 HANA Installation Problem

Hi,
Please help, we are trying to install SAP B1 HANA PL04.
Here's the scenario;
1. Installation of SLE Server - Done
2. Installation of SAP HANA Server - Done (was able to access HANA Studio, install DB client)
3. Installation of SAP B1 HANA - Failed
It seems that Tomcat causes the problem.
Please help on how to resolve this.
TIA,
Norman

Hi Duncan,
after manually cleaning up previous installation of Server Components we proceed with the full install of PL11 and this time it worked! The new installer is much better than PL04 since it also includes the B1 Analytics and is eventually able to rollback failed components.
In our case we had a problem with XApp Framework but hopefully we will figure it out.... support suggested to upgrade the AFL first however we were already using the latest AFL from rev.69.
Do you have any idea why the XApp failed and rolled back?
All other systems and services installed and run flawlessly now!
Thanks.
Best regards,
Fabrizio

• Certification required for HANA SPS Upgrades?

Hi
I was just asked by the Hardware vendor what type of certification we need, to perform the HANA Support Pack Upgrade to stay in compliance for warranty.
Am I correct in assuming thatthe HA200 - HANA Installation and Operations certification is what they're speaking about or is there something else required?
Ken

Hi Ken,
To be honest, I never thought about certification requirement for HANA updates. I'd be surprised that you need certification for that.
Maybe Hay Bouten will be able to answer that.
In the event that you are interested in certification for HANA administration then one of the following is the one you would want to start with.

• HANA SID naming "best practice"

Hi,
We are about to implement some HANA's as databases for Netweaver systems.
Any recommendations on what SID's to give the HANA systems?
The same as the Netweaver system for which it is a DB servers perhaps? (you will now have duplicate SIDs registered for licensing, the SLD, Solution Manager, etc.).
Something completely different?
What is the best approach in terms of naming convention in your experience?
Thanks!
Adriaan

Hi Adriaan,
from Hana Installation Guide
11.40 sid
Specifies a system ID. The SAP system ID (SID) is the identifier for the SAP HANA system.
Requirements
● The ID must be unique throughout your organization and consistent throughout
your SAP system installation landscape.
● If you want to install an additional application server instance, make sure that no
gateway instance with the same SAP SID exists in your SAP system landscape.
● The ID must consist of exactly three alphanumeric characters. Only uppercase
letters are allowed. The first character must be a letter (not a digit).
● The following IDs are reserved and cannot be used: ADD ALL AMD AND ANY ARE
ASC AUX AVG BIT CDC COM CON DBA END EPS FOR GET GID IBM INT KEY LOG
LPT MAP MAX MIN MON NIX NOT NUL OFF OLD OMS OUT PAD PRN RAW REF
ROW SAP SET SGA SHG SID SQL SUM SYS TMP TOP UID USE USR VAR.
Syntax
In the command line, the following syntax is used:
--sid=<SID>
or, in short form:
-s <SID>
Remarks
This parameter is available in interactive mode.
This parameter can be specified once and automatically substituted throughout all
parameter defaults, which use sid as part of their default value.
11.41 storage_cfg
Specifies a location where a global.ini is defined. It is possible to set up a storage

• BW Powered On HANA - System Copy Process

Dear HANA Gurus,
Now we are on HANA 1.0 SPS03 Rev.21, and we also have a BW 7.3 SP05, running on Windows 2008 64 bit server, on Oracle 11.2.
We want to migrate the BW to HANA DB. Refering to note 1600929 (which is version in revision), the Export method with system copy (using HANA special options) seems fine.
However, not sure how the Import will be done in HANA? We will be creating a new BW on Windows again, and if it is system import it'll again create an Oracle based instance!
When and where it migrates to HANA DB?
Regards
Manish Madhav

Hello,
HANA conversion is heterogeneous system copy process (DB migration). You will export system on Oracle and then you will import into HANA. Of course you need to have proper CDs.
Here comes important question - did you signed up for SAP rampup? BW on HANA is not yet in Global Availability and only some customers are allowed to participate.
You can find required CDs at this location:
http://service.sap.com/swdc
Software Downloads
Installations and Upgrades
Browse our Download Catalog
SAP NetWeaver and complementary products
SAP NetWeaver BW 7.3 powered by SAP HANA
BW ON HANA INSTALLATION 1.0
Installation
Downloads
If you cannot see these CDs - then you are not part of rampup and you need to wait until Global Availability.
If you can see these CDs - then you need to download them and use them to perform import.
I did not yet have opportunity to perform conversion myself (we still need to prepare our system to meed the requirements) but from SAP guides it is apparent that SAP HANA database is installed on one server (appliance) while ABAP is sitting on second server. (In other words - you should not have ABAP on same server as HANA.)
Also note that only ABAP stack can run on HANA.
And installation guide (here is for Windows):
http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001240932011E.pdf
In a standard system, all main instances except the SAP HANA database instance run on a single host.
See system copy guide for details:
http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001299452010E.pdf
SAP HANA database is available for SAP NetWeaver 7.3 ABAP only.

• Connecting Eclipse Hana Dev Studio to CAL HANA Dev Edition on AWS

I have recently created a HANA dev Edition Instance in CAL using my AWS account. I have an eclipse HANA dev studio on my PC.
I have been trying for hours to get the dev edition system added to my systems in the dev studio AAAAARGH!
Can someone please put together a screenshot run through of how to do this for this idiot to follow?
I have read several blogs but none are terribly clear on what information in the dialogs in the hana studio relate to which elements on CAL or AWS.
For instance:-
Landscape host = ??? from where (IP address of instance supposedly but which one in the CAL instance detail as there are two ip addresses shown,
an internal and an external). One blog talks about an elastic IP but I haven't seen one labelled as such anywhere.
Account name... This supposedly begins with a small letter but my account name for CAL does not, so confusing!! What account name is this meant to be?
User Name = CAL user name or AWS user name?
Password = password from where. Is this the CAL password or the aws ACCOUNT PASSWORD.
Any help may well save me from a trip to the funny farm!
NOTE I am adding the system as a cloud system.
Cheers,
Ross G.

Hi Ross,
Let's see if we can't get you through this really quickly.
1) Are you on a corporate network that has ports blocked? If so the HANA Studio will not connect as it needs additional ports like 30015.
2) If you are on a public internet with nothing blocked then under the SAP HANA Development perspective in HANA Studio you need to click (left side under "Systems" tab) "Add System"
You need the IP of your server (most likely the public IP) and the fact that the instance is "00". An Elastic IP is the same as the IP the difference is that this IP is static and does not change when you start or stop the instance.
Description is nice if you have a lot of systems.
Then your user name and password.
That's all you need. The best way to check is to be sure that you can open the server in your browser window (just enter the IP address) - or use the "connect" option in CAL.

• AWS HANA ABAP and sap logon pad

I am looking to consume HANA views with ABAP (as demostrated here SAP HANA Academy - ABAP: How to consume HANA procedures in ABAP - YouTube )
I have an AWS account with a HANA installation running with which I have connected with HANA Studio (rev 80) successfully.
The SAP GUI 730 (Patch 4 Hotfix 2) is installed and I have also successfully installed Eclipse Kepler (in accordance with this guide Step-by-step Guide to setup ABAP on HANA with E... | SCN )
When I try to create an ABAP project I am asked to either use the connection details in the SAP logon pad or connect manually. I have not maintained the logon pad details and hence wish to connect manually.
Here is where it gets fuzzy to me. In order to connect with my HANA instance what do I enter as:
- Application server? The IP-address of the HANA instance, right?
- Instance number?
- System-Id?
- SAP router string?
I assume that this is all information that is available with my AWS instance, but I dont know where to find it. Furthermore, I am assuming that no additional components are required in my set-up. If this assumption is wrong please indicate what is missing.
I greatly appreciate any support.
Thanx

Problem solved!

• BW 7.4 SP4 on HANA Rev 63

Hello Gurus,
We went live recently from BW 7.3 to 7.4 SP 4. We are facing issues with BWP, as the system freezes without any error, it goes down quiert often leaving no traces. When checked on the db backup it has no entries since last 3months. Do we have an issue here? Do we need to restart the HANA DB after migration? I am not quiet aware of basis activities in detail, my basis team has no clue on this but working hard to fix. Also how to trace the error? Checked slg1 no issues found.
Appreciate help.

• HANA DR query

Has any one built HANA DR system on top of an existing BW production appliance. Our scenario is we have a pre-configured appliance with database already created by H/W vendor and we are now trying to configure high availability.
If any one has done this, could you advise what procedures have you followed. I tried to look for documentation but there seem to be limited sources. I see that we have 2 options - storage replication and system replication. Can any one point to standard documentation for all possible scenarios within these. I see from the HANA installation guides that hdbclm has options to configure additional hosts. Do we work our way within this procedure or do we have any guidance documents...something Roland would normally submit in HANA space
Any pointers / thoughts are appreciated.

• Migrating Backend Database for BW and ECC with HANA

Hi Guys,
I have been going through the blogs and its fantastic information but i couldnt find anything related to " how to migrate BW or ECC backend database with HANA DB. As per my information the HANA has its own DB which is called "IMDB", so if we have oracle or SQL server at the back end for BW or ECC , how can we migrate to HANA.
Plus are there any tools that are available for migration.
Thanks In Advance.
Sheikh Hassan Ayub

First, let's be clear:
1/ Accordingly to announced SAP plans the ramp-up (restricted shipment) of BW-on-HANA installations will start on the 7th of November 2011.
2/ There are no firm plans for ECC-on-HANA availability yet - so this is out of scope for current discussion.
"IMDB" is the name from the past. Now HANA's database is called "HANA database" but you will still find references to "SAP In-memory DB" in documentation etc.
Migration of BW from let's say Oracle to HANA db will be following standard OS/DB migration process - similar to the way you would migrate Oracle DB to DB2: export of the source and then import to the target server. Exactly the same tools.

• HANA SID FOR B1

Hello everyone,
We are having a problem with license file and we think that the reason is because HANA SID is HDB and not NDB.
What should SID really be?
In case we must change it is this procedure right to?
http://scn.sap.com/people/man-ted.chan/blog/2013/06/21/sap-hana-on-site-configuration-tool
Thanks in advance.
Regards

Hi Angel,
SAP Business One only gives license for SAP HANA with the specific SID being NDB.
Any other SID will not be able to be licensed with B1 contract, so all your SAP HANA installations for SAP Business One need to have SID=NDB (please check SAP Business One version for SAP HANA Administration Guide where it is documented as a prerequisite)
I haven't used the tool you find out in the link you gave. IMHO it is simpler just to reinstall HANA with the correct SID, but you can of course try the proposed tool for changing the SAP HANA SID.
Regards,
Trinidad.

• HANA instal / data storage size check error

Hello
While installing HANA we had the following error (see first screenshot).
I believe that this incorrect because we have enough (150GB) data space (see second screenshot).
We are following the SAP HANA Installation Guide with SAP HANA Unified Installer - SAP HANA Appliance Software SPS 03 document.
I appreciate your help.
Cheers
Tansu

Hi Tansu ,
It should be 4 times memory . I beleive you have a 512 GB memory so you need 1920 GB of disk space
Thanks,
