Hand cursor has changed?

I don't know if it was the 10.7.3 upgrade, but the hand cursor has chanded in Safari. Now it has the finger crooked to the right. Weird...

Satellite A500-17X - Cursor has changed to a black box

I have an A500-17X and the cursor has changed from the normal "I" to a black box which flashes in the same way that the normal "I" cursor does. I'd really appreciate any help with this as it is now driving me mad!

Is this in DOS or Windows?
Press the INS key. If it still does it, install the A500 Display Driver from the Toshiba Website.

The cursor has changed to a dot with a circle around it; how can I get my normal cursor back?

The cursor in the main part of Firefox has changed to a dot with a circle around it. This only occurs in Firefox and only in the page display area. I still have the arrow in the tool bar and tabs area. When moving the cursor around in the display area the dot/circle is accompanied by a blinking arrow.

It's the quicktime plug-in causing the problem. If you disable it, your cursor will return to normal. Happened to me, and fixed it by doing that.

DW MX 2004 - Cursor has changed and cannot edit text in tables

Hi. Please forgive my ignorance...
Whilst trying to edit some text in a table in Dreamweaver MX 2004, I noticed the cursor had changed (see pic below) and I could not edit any text. Clicking the table also placed a red line around the table. Now, I realise this must be some kind of alt command but I cannot for the life of me figure out how I have got to this and how to get it back to normal... If I held down the left touch-pad button, the cursor returned to normal, but once released, reverted to the cursor below... Help and thanks in advance?

I was wondering if there was a key combination or button I had clicked which caused this cursor to appear...

Over some images my imac cursor has changed to a hand with a blue magnifying grid - how to I get back to normal?

Sometimes when moving over an image, mt cursor changes to a hand with a blue magnifying grid. How can I disable this?

Thanks sberman ... unfortunately that option is & has been unticked. It has happened to me two or three times but my memory ain't what it used to be so I can't recall the exact circumstances. It went away by itself this morning after an overnight shutdown so I don't think it can be a "preferences" item. Only thing I had to do this morning was to change trackpad batteries. Maybe low batt power was the cause? Interestingly before I posted the query here, I was searching all over the net for a similar problem and could not find even one related post or comment anywhere. And this post has 53 views with only your reply so maybe it is a spurious / unique problem? I'll leave the post for now as the problem seemed to have fixed itself and if it happens again, I will re-try everything first, including checking batteries. Somehow I thought mnaybe I had hit a keyboard shortcut in error but I can't find any reference at all to this kind of behaviour. Wierd!! But thanks very much for your reply!!

Cursor has changed to a plus sign and doesn't work properly

I recently plugged my Late 2012 MBP 13" into an Epson projector (using an Apple serial port converter) and my cursor changed from the normal shape to a '+' sign. Also, there is occasionally some horizontal lines on the screen about 1" (2cm) away from the plus sign. I wouldn't mind the shape except it's now very inaccurate and difficult to use. Does anyone know how to fix this type of issue? Appreciate any help you can offer.

Cleared everything, several time over several days, no change.
Still have not diagnosed the problem and I have made a lot of changes, including re-loading M.FireFox 4.0.1 with ATT Yahoo vers. 1.8
It sometimes appears that the sign-in times out, although I tried signing in for 2 weeks and also 1 day. ATT Yahoo has a sign-in seal one can setup and use. It is fine and works only that one day or until one signs out, than it is history.

The google search bar in the top right-hand corner has changed language to Spanish!! I've tried to change it but it just goes back to Spanish

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false.
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Mousing-over links doesn't change to a hand cursor

I just upgraded to 3.6.15 after FF installed 3.6.14, but now when I mouseover links, I do not get the hand cursor to indicate it's a link. Any solutions?

Numbers 3.2 has changed too much, it doesn't work with my project anymore. 1) The sheet panels used to be on the left hand side and easily reviewable and searchable, but now they are on the top and it's harder to find a specific folder without scrolling (too time consuming), 2) I used to be able to duplicate a folder within my sheet panel window by simply clicking on a folder and hitting Command D, but that doesn't work now so it looks like I'll have to spend even more time to recreate the same tables that used to be easily duplicated, and 3) I can't choose fill colors that matched my project anymore because there are only limited choices available now. And these are only the changes that I'm aware of. I am very disappointed and frustrated. Whatever the motivation was to limit Numbers 3.2, I want the previous version back. How do I revert back to the previous version I was using?

You can scroll more quickly between sheets if you don't use the left-right triangles, but instead move the cursor up into the bands with the "tabs" and drag right or left.
Also, if you have a lot if sheets for which you want a quick vertical list, then you can try the following have something like this pop up (showing your sheet names automatically) whenever you hit a keyboard shortcut (in my case shift-command-j):

My cursor has long vertical lines at times. When I hover over a link, the cursor doesnt' change to a hand

I don't know if this applies to LCDs, but the iMac G3 and eMac had "geometry settings" in the display preferences. If you messed up the settings, things like lines on the bottom and skewed images could happen.
I wonder if the factory geometry settings are off on your iMac? There is no way to set these with System Prefs.

How do I show a hand cursor for a text entry box button

I'm using Captivate 5 and have run into an annoying problem...
For a general click box, there is an option for "Show hand cursor over hit area" which will result in the cursor changing to a hand when rolling over the click box region in the published presentation. I want to do the same for the 'submit' button in the text entry box. Is this even possible? I'm hoping to keep things consistent as a user is clicking through the presentation.
I find it odd that it doesn't have the same property as found on the clickbox considering it has the same purpose. I'm using a background screenshot image to simulate an entry in an application, so I'm actualy hiding the submit button, but the button I want them to press lacks the hand cursor that would indicate it is clickable. I don't want to use a click box to allow the user to move on because I still want a failure in the text entry box to prevent the user from moving on.

Another approach is to use a Rollover Caption. Just remove any text and configure the caption as transparent. Then layer the Rollover area over the part where you want the hand to change to a cursor. The net effect will be that the cursor change will occur. Clicking will then result in triggering the underlying Submit button, which appers to be invisible and layered over an image.

Hand cursor not displayed when mouse is over JEditorPane hyperlinks in 1.5

Java version 1.5 does not show a hand cursor when the user mouses over a hyperlink within a JEditorPane, which it did in version 1.4.x.
Create a new JEditorPane. Then set the content type (setContentType) as "text/html". Then use setText to add an html hyperlink. When the user mouses over the hyperlink, the cursor remains a pointer cursor. The cursor used to change into a hand cursor symbolizing a hyperlink.
p.s.) The hyperlink still works, the cursor just doesn't change.
Has anyone noticed this? Has it been reported as a bug? Is there a workaround?

I have the same problem which I cannot seem to solve. I have a JEditorPane in a JDialog, not a JFrame, and I do not get a Hand cursor over the link. If I use a JFrame, I get the hand cursor.
Any ideas? I tried with setting the cursor by hand using
pane.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.HAND_CURSOR)); in the ENTERED-part of a slightly more advanced hyperlink listener (gets pane in constructor). But that did not help either.

Pointer has changed!

In LR 5 my pointer has changed into a magnify tool and when I click on my mouse it turns into a hand tool. How do I get my pointer back? Thanks for your help!!

That is exactly how Lightroom is supposed to work. In the Library Module when you are in grid view you will have a pointer. When you are in loup view and the cursor is over the image it becomes a magnifier but when it is over one of the side panels it becomes a pointer. When the cursor is a mangifier and you click on it, the image will be magnified to the amount set on the slider in the tool tray at the bottom of the image. The cursor will then become a hand tool so you can pan around the image.
When no particular tool has been chosen in the develop module, and the cursor is over the image, it will act just like it does in the Library Module. When a tool has been chosen, the cursor becomes representative of the tool being used. i.e. the crop tool shows up as the crossed squares, the spot removal brush shows as the crosshairs with a double circle etc. When the cursor is over one of the side panels, it becomes the typical cursor.
Basically, the cursor is context sensitive.

How does an NSTextField know that it's value has changed?

I have a textfield that can either be edited by hand, or set through another control. (It's a page number, so you can jump to page 16 by typing in 16, or you can page up and down with the next/prev buttons) I have the value of the text field bound to an int page variable.
It seems to work correctly, when you type a page number in, it jumps, when you page up and down, the page number in the text box changes appropriately.
However, at some level, when I page up and down, the text box doesn't seem to know that it's value has changed, because if I type 1 it doesn't do anything. It doesn't call the bound set-method or anything. It looks like the textfield is thinking "I'm already 1, so I don't need to do anything." Even though it was 5 because I hit next 4 times. If I type an number other than 1, it goes there. If I THEN type 1, it goes to page 1, because now it thinks it's on that other page.
The problem seems to be that I'm changing the value of the textfield programatically, but some part isn't getting the message.
Does this seem like a reasonable explanation? And either way, any ideas on what's causing it?

Solution: in order for the textfield to behave properly, I need to do everything through the bound instance variable.
The problem was that the "page" instance variable doesn't actually exist, there's a page method and a setPage method, but the actual page is kept elsewhere. When I make sure to call the setPage method from the next/prev code, it seems to work.
