Hand cursor in Firefox 4 on Mac

Hi,
I just updated to Firefox version 4.0.1 on my Mac and suddenly no hand cursors are showing up on my application. Has anyone else come across this, and know any workarounds?

Update to Firefox 13 . Firefox 3 and 4 do not show hand cursors properly in the Flash player.

I'm having a weird issue that I can't believe I can't find on Google. I have a brand-new MacBook Pro with 10.6.4 installed. I installed Firefox 3.6.8 and when I hover over a link, the "hand cursor" denoting a hyperlink is not grey; it's completely black and white. I have this problem with Lotus Notes and Lotus Symphony too; it is as if these applications don't honor a higher resolution cursor set or something.
When I use Safari 5, the hand cursor appears totally normal; grey with shading to make it look more multidimensional. Does anyone else have an issue like this?

I'm having the same... "issue".
I'd like to have a shadow on the hand cursors - like Safari links - that appear in all "flash" objects on the Mac. It appears that it is 2D and has no shadow when running certain applications. Firefox's hand cursor for links are always 2D and this annoys me.
I hope someone has... a solution to this.

Acrobat / Reader opens with whatever tool that was selected when it was last closed.
Try the following step and let me know if it worked for you :
Go to > Acrobat > Preferences >Accessibility
In the section marked 'General', De-select the options 'Make Hand tool select text & images' and 'Make Hand tool read articles'
Quit Acrobat.
Reopen and check.

The "TAB" key will not move the cursor from field to field with Firefox 17 in MAC OS 10.8. You have to use the mouse to click on the new field to move the cursor.

Note: In OS X (as of 2005-01), if this preference is not explicitly set, the “Full Keyboard Access” setting in System Preferences will be honored. All builds before that date (e.g., Firefox 1.0.x) will ignore that setting.
This pref doesn't exist by default, so if you want to use it instead of the system settings then you need to create a new Integer pref with the name accessibility.tabfocus and set the value to what you want (7 is to tab through all the fields).

Hand cursor problem with safari Mac os

Hi,
I have use movieclip objec in flex , set properties i.e mouseChildren=false, buttonMode=true for ButtonMode and Handcursor , Its work fine in Windows Os with IE,Opera,Safari,Chrome,Mozilla But Issue with Mac-OS wtih safari browser , Handcusor is not visbile on Movieclip instance.
Any idea how to fix this ?

I am also having the same problem with movieclip objects made in Flash with buttonMode set to true and useHandCursor = true; The same files show the hand cursor on older versions of Safari. Does anyone know any workarounds?

Can't do any drag and drop in Firefox 12 for Mac OS X 10.6.8

I am running Firefox 12 in Mac OS X 10.6.8, and have the following strange problem.
When I try to customise the toolbar, I am unable to drag and drop any buttons onto it! I am see the hand icon, but when I click and drag an item nothing happens.
Even stranger is the fact that I also can't drag and drop images from Firefox into Finder!
Are these two problems related somehow?

I have read that there are about 5 or 6 other add-ons that also inhibit Drag and Drop functionality, not just the Torbutton add-on. The list is somewhere in the main Firefox support section (but it's tough to find the answer there twice).

Unnecessary Hand-Cursor Bug

I feel like this is most likely a remnant of Work Areas, but it doesn't need to be here anymore.
Steps to reproduce bug/glitch:
Open any timeline in any version of the software post the deletion of work areas
hold down the Alt key on a PC
hover over where the work area used to be in the timeline
you should see a hand cursor, but I'm pretty certain it serves no purpose anymore
You can even click and drag, and the hand will grab nothing and move the nothingness around.
It's a weird little bug, and it doesn't seem to negatively affect anything, but I figured I'd report it anyway. Can anyone reproduce this on a Mac? Or is it a PC only thing?

Hand Cursor stuck again

I thought my problem was solved, however, the hand cursor is stuck again when I go to Kohl's Website and try to order anything. When I click on "add to bag" that is when the cursor won't move.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.
*check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.
*Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Open and closed hand cursors

I have a drag image application and I wanted to use the open and closed hand cursors to move the image about. It seems there is no easy way of accessing these in Java. After searching for cursor names etc.. I decided to hard code the cursors from the .gif image. Also I didn't want the .GIFs as files as this adds to loading problems so I ended up using arrays of pixels that took a little while to enter.
I'm giving you the code if you ever need to use it as I typed it in and wouldn't want anyone else to have to do the same.

After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session. 
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time. 
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page. 
Another possibility is to use:

You need an Intel Mac to be able to use Firefox 4 and later versions.
For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0 & 5.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 .

Newly created images will not display in Firefox 8 for Mac. Same images appear in other browsers. Why?

1. Specific new images are uploaded but will not display in Firefox 8 on my Mac with OS 10.6.8. (Does appear in other browsers, e.g., Chrome and Opera, and appears on Firefox 8 for PC.) Also, other images on the page display.
2. I have cleared cache, cookies, etc., in Recent History, and restarted both application and computer.
3. I've tried creating GIF, JPG and PNG, but none show on the page in Firefox on my Mac. I can see the offending image in other browsers such as Chrome on the same computer, and on Firefox on PC. You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

I have the same problem, and I also wondered if Google toolbar has anything to do with it. There GMAIL was set as the default mail application at first. I have removed that setting, but Firefox 4.0.1 continues to use GMAIL instead of Outlook which is my selection for mailto handling.
