Hand tool and open gl

Hi
Two questions:
1) My hand tool won't go away no matter what tool I select....the problem lasts usually from 2-10 minutes, and it is all normal after that period...it fixes it self somehow....
2) I can't enable OpenGL drawing, I go to preferences, then performance, and that area is gray....I have ati 4850 512mb,which is supported graphic card, and I have the latest drivers

Ok Zeno, I have downloaded the files and unzipped them to my desktop. Before I run them though, is there a way to tell via photoshop if this is necessary? Meaning can I find out if Photoshop is recognizing my video card or not before installing these? The last thing I want to do is mess something up ^.^ Not that I'm saying you would lead me or anyone to that, just from the disclaimer on these files. ;-)
Also, I read the installation notes, and it says "double click on this file" but it doesn't mention which one LOL. If I need to go through with this process, which one to install?

  • Hand tool and zoom resume

I apologize for this easy looking question,  but neither the documentation nor my own tests seem to point me to a clear answer.
I have a waveform graph and I am using the zoom and hand tool on the graph palette.
    1. After applying the hand tool, how can I resume to the original graph?
    2. I zoom a part of the graph more than one time consecutively, let's say twice. After the secodn zoom, I would like to resume to the result of the first zoom.
The same way in which generally the zoom-in and zoom-out functionalities work.
On the graph palette, the left bottom icon of the zoom functions, offer just the possibility to resume to the initial version of the graph.
I couldn't find a way to achieve an incremental zoom-out as described above?
    Is there any?
    Thank you!
    MG.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1) Use the Zoom to Fit
    2) You will need to programatically make this.  When you zoom in, store the X and Y scale data (max and min).  You can then make a button to go back to the previous zoom by then setting the scale data with the values you stored.
There are only two ways to tell somebody thanks: Kudos and Marked Solutions

  • Indesign CS6 hand tool gets stuck and can't use selection tool

In Indesign CS6 using Mountain Lion, the hand tool appears and I can't select or work with any other tool. All I can do is move the document around. After trying the space bar and other key commands I restarted and it worked for a while. Then it happened again. I work on a Macbook pro, so when I removed the mouse and worked only with the trackpad there was no change. When I quit and reopened, no change. I then deleted prefs and restarted and it worked, but it's been happening from time to time. Anyone know any other fix without restarting or deleting prefs.

Yes, this is an intermittent problem between Adobe and Apple: InDesign CS6 getting stuck in the hand mode. This happens to me when I am working by remote desktop using Screen Sharing. The cursor turns to a hand tool and you can't change it.
I stumbled upon a quicker solution (to restarting, etc.) by depressing the Control-Command-Spacebar keys cumulatively in succession. (I just happened upon this out of frustration--it is an old PageMaker toggle sequence.) When I clicked on the screen after doing this, the hand reverted to the pointer. Sometimes you may have to click on the pointer in the tool palette first before the sequence to make it revert.
I would like to see if this trick works for others. I see on another forum posting about Adobe CC that many people are experiencing this problem there as well. An Adobe moderator has listed the posting as "correctly answered" and solved that the issue is not an Adobe issue (rather bad keyboards, etc. etc.). But it still remains a problem with many Apple users of Adobe products. (It has only happened to me with Adobe products...no other vendors...both in Mavericks or Yosemite.)

  • Cursor defaulting and remaining on Hand Tool

    Hello all
I know this has come up in the forum a few times before, but a colleague and I are both having this issue (randomly, our tool defaults to the Hand Tool and will not switch to a another tool for some time, even after program closure and reopening).
Suggestions I've found here have been to switch off hardware acceleration (have done this on the card side) and to trash preferences, which we have both done but to no avail.
I'm wondering if the problem is persisting for others and/or someone has nailed the issue and could share their solution.
It's happening on three separate machines, so that's unusual in itself - am coming to the conclusion it's a bug, but haven't heard anything widescale about it, so it must be a select few (oh, the joy...).
Apart from this issue, am loving Id CS4 :)
    TIA for any help.

    I would suspect a hardware-factor, too.
You do have you tried tapping the space-bar repeatedly (and with some force)?
Have you tried trashing prefs (though that does seem unlikely to help)?
If it should indeed be some software problem you may want to provide more info on your system, though.

  • PhotoShop Elements 5.0 Cursor locks to Hand tool

I use Photoshop Elements 5.0, and sometimes, my cursor will lock to the hand tool and I can't use any other tools.  I will exit the program and open it back up, and it will still be locked on the hand tool, but later, it will randomly start working again and let me use the other tools.  How can I fix this?

I'd start by checking the space bar on the keyboard. It might be sticking. When (if) you get stuck in the hand tool, try tapping your space bar.
Reason: The space bar is the shortcut that calls up the  hand tool.

  • Hand tool Scroll all   I'm missing something

    Dear Curt et al,
Here is the quote from PS CS2 Help
"To view images in multiple windows
The document window is where your images appear. You can open multiple windows to display different images or different views of the same one. A list of open windows appears in the Window menu. To bring an open image to the front, choose the file name from the bottom of the Window menu. Available memory may limit the number of windows per image.
(ImageReady) The document window lets you switch easily between original and optimized views of an image using tabs, and to view the original image and multiple versions of an optimized image simultaneously.
    Do one of the following:
Choose Window > Arrange > New Window For [Image File Name].
(ImageReady) Drag any tab away from the document window.
If you want to arrange the windows, choose Window > Arrange and then choose one of the following:
Cascade Displays windows stacked and cascading from the upper left to the lower right of the screen.
Tile Horizontally or Tile Vertically Displays windows edge to edge. As you close images, the open windows are resized to fill the available space.
(Windows) Arrange Icons Aligns minimized image windows along the bottom of the screen.
(Photoshop) You can use the Hand tools Scroll All Windows option to scroll through all open images. Select it in the options bar and drag in one image to scroll through all visible images."

  • How to set the cursor tool to select tool when opening acrobat XI 11.0

I need the cursor tool to default to Select Tool and NOT Hand Tool when opening Acrobat XI 11.0

    Hi mkwillden,
Once you select the 'Select tool' then any subsequent launches of the software should keep the 'Select tool' as default.
If not then you can specify the registry setting here:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\11.0\Selection
Change the data of aDefaultSelect to Select or Hand as required.

  • Always use Hand Tool on startup

    Hi All
I just installed Adobe reader 9.3.
Whatever file I opened, it starts with select tool, even after I choose hand tool and reopen it, it will still starts with select tool.
How can I force it to always use the »Hand Tool«?
On startup Adobe Reader uses the »Select Tool« by default and I always must switch to the »Hand Tool« manually.
    I think it's a bug.
    Thanks in advance.

i'll bump this as well if you don't mind - i have same problem.
running Reader 9.3.2 on XP SP3.
no matter what I try it always opens with Select tool active, rather than my preferred option of Hand tool. Every startup I must manually change it to Hand tool. Very frustrating. I'd tried changing many options in the preferences but no joy so far.
Any solution/suggestions would be great, thanks.

  • CS3 Bugs? Hand Tool & Proportional Scale Not Working

I am unable to press the spacebar to utilize the Hand Tool, and unable to use shift to proportionally scale objects. If I close down Illustrator and restart my computer, the problem will be resolved for the first file that is opened. Subsequent files have the same issue - hand tool and scaling does not work.
Has anyone else experienced this, or possibly have a solution other than constant rebooting?
    Thanks,
    Justine

OK I don't think Scott was at all condescending, since you did not mention the steps you took to try to resolve the problem. I am assuming as well that after you updated the Microsoft products and Quicken and etc. that you then trashed the Illustrator Settings folder from within your user preferences folder. Am I correct?
    If not do so.
You can also try to log i as a new user. If that works it is more than likely a user issue if it does not work more than likely hardware such as your keyboard or possibly a system issue or application conflict.
I would think it is a user account issue, that is a corruption or conflict in the preferences folder but not necessarily Illustrator.

  • Hand tool/space bar snafu...

I found several threads about this that go back to 2009..........I never had the problem until now, with  InDesign CSS.  the shortcut in INDD that toggles between the space bar and the hand tool, AND the option>drag duplication function are both not  working........intermittantly they don't work in PS CSS either......
I've done all lthe stuff the threads suggested:  trashed prefs, permissions, closed FF and Chrome, restart, etc.........I'm using a Mac, with OS 10.9, and CSS apps.....
anyone know more about this? I'd be mostg grateful......
I used CSS for a few months before it started, so I 'm sure it's some conflict, but I havent' installed anyting new ...........oh wait, I've using TuneUpMyMac......so ironic if tat's it.........
    anyone ?
    todd

The way to test if there is a conflict with another application, or system corruption is to create a new user. In the new user install no startup application, and open InDesign first.
I'm assuming that you mean InDesign CC. There is no such thing as InDesign CSS.

  • Typewriter tool and form fields

    Hi there.
I have a long PDF which was created from a Word doc. I have added form fields throughout the document. However, there is one page which has a question then ten lines for the user to write the answer. I originally had a form field covering the ten lines which I made multi-line and gave a white background so that when the user types, it would just fill up the page. However, it has since been requested that the lines remain visible.
A terrible solution would be to use a separate field for each line (thus causing the user to have to press tab to get to the next line). After some research, I discovered the typewriter tool which accomplishes exactly what I had in mind.
Here's the problem: It appears I am unable to use both form fields and the typewriter tool within one PDF. Is there a workaround to this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Hilary

With respect, how is the typewriter tool better than either a single multiline field or multiple single line fields? I would think that making your users switch between using the Hand tool and the Typewriter tool would be awkward, to say the least.
If I were in your position, I would continue to use a multiline field with a transparent background and adjust the lines to match the leading that results.
Does this have to work with Reader? Do you need to extract the form data? Does the general public have to use this form?
When you enable just the Typewriter tool for use with Reader, it locks out form fields. But if you enable the document for use with Reader, it enables both forms and commenting, and the Typewriter tool is a type of commenting, but Reader makes the Typewriter tool less obvious.

  • Illustrator gets stuck on hand tool

I'm having this problem with my Adobe Illustrator CS3 where I'll be using the pen tool, and out of nowhere (usually after I've undone a couple of things it seems), the program will get stuck on the hand tool, and won't switch to any other tool. Time seems to be the only remedy because the problem will persist even if I try to work on another file, or restart the program. It also carries over to Photoshop, which I don't recall ever giving me this problem. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm having the same issue, also in Photoshop CS4 extended.
    1)  I just re-Ghosted to a pristine Ghost image to rule-out OS/software issues on my end.  I'll post how that goes once I reinstall the Adobe.
    2)  Diagnostics report no memory or other hardware errors.  Also, I've done a Symantec disk check, and no disk errors are reported.
    3)  Also, while the keyboard notion is a good thought, I'm thinking that we can't all have keyboard issues.  My keyboard is almost new and every key works beautifully.  Here is a filtered forum listing of others having the same issue.  As you can see, this is very widespread.

  • Spacebar quick key for Hand tool not working.

I have a brand new imac intel i7  27" and have installed photoshop cs5, but the spacebar hand tool is not  working. any ideas?
the hand tool and all other tools work, just the shortcut  key of holding the spacebar doesn't work.
    Thanks,

I found that when I quit Firefox the spacebar works again as a shortcut for the hand tool. However as soon as I sign in to my gmail account it stops working. This is so frustrating! Will there be a fix for this sometime in the near future?
