Hand tool keeps taking over.
On CS4 XP. The hand tool has become the only tool that photoshop uses. I can select the other tools until I am blue in the face but the hand tool is the only one that shows up. its not just displaying the hand tool, it is functioning as the hand tool, even when trying to do things like resize (ctrl-T). Restarted photoshop does not help, but rebooting does. But soon after a reboot, I get back to only having access to the hand tool again. Is there something that I can do to reset the tools when this happens?
Your space bar is sticking. Tap it a few times, and if it persists clean out the cookie crumbs.

Since I downloaded Mozilla Firefox on my new computer, Babylon search engine keeps taking over my home page. I have deleted it from my computer and have installed Google as my home page - It has just done ANOTHER hostile takeover and completely kicked Google off. Babylon doesn't even find the right things I search for. It is horrible - is it a virus and how do I get rid of it?

An iphone app dealer keeps taking over my phone.
King.com Unlimited keeps forcing my iPhone to go to its Apple app-store app[s] page[s].They have several 'games' where they later persuade you to buy other features for their games.
How in heck can I prevent this ???? Is there a way to block it? Is my iPhone infected ?
I've never tried nor installed any of their games and am sick and tired of them taking over my phone, randomly, and frequently.
I can get off the page, but I'm seeing this/these pagepages far too mny times.If it helps, my iSO is 7.1.1
It is an action from two events
1. using the kissanime streaming site. [which I can understand]
2. happens even when I'm not using the site. [but not as often, yet]
In the first case, I sometimes get an iPhone pop-up that asks me if I want to open the app page. it reads more like something wants to open an app page, do you agree ? More exactly like the pop-up says something can't open to the app store page, will I allow it?
I'll do a capture of it later and be more exact.
The times it just pops me over there when I'm not on that site nor using the browser are completely unexpected.
What I would prefer is that any such action acting upon my phone -always- asks the user if he/she/I will allow it.
It seems to be neccessary to prevent what I will think of as 'slimeware' forcing the iPhone to go to their app-store pages.
Since that requestor happens sometime, there should be a way to have it always be active; even if it requires an iSO update to have it be so. If I could make it always be active, I would consider the problem to be solved. -
My web search tool bar taking over FIRE FOX

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

Yahoo keeps taking over my search engine, yes I've disabled cookies, etc. Make it stop.
Sometimes when I'm searching for something, Yahoo just takes over. I've deleted cookies, certificates, and anything else I could find to get rid of it. I don't use Yahoo as a search engine, I use Google. I deleted it under Manage Search Engines. This shouldn't be happening. With it happening to so many people, why are you allowing this?
Does this happen in the middle of a session? You may have an unwanted extension that is modfying search behavior. Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Command+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
If the change occurs only between sessions, when you exit and start up Firefox again, check for a user.js file. This article describes how to do that: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]]. -
Findr, whatever that is, keeps changing my default homepage to findr. It defaults my search engine to findr. I change it back to what it was and within a day or two it goes back.
The findr page says it is not encrypted and therefore my internet usage is open to anyone.

Dashboard keeps taking over the screen
When I am working on new iMac in many different applications, all of a sudden the Dashboard screen pops up and displaces what I am working on.
I thought I was doing something wrong with the wireless mouse but it doesn't seem to be that.Does this happen when you go to System Preferences > Mouse > More Gestures and uncheck all boxes?

I'll be working in Motion for 20 minutes or so, and then something happens... the hand tool starts taking over... I select other tools, but as soon as I click anything in the canvas BANG! The hand tool is back!! And I can't then use any other tools until I close out of Motion and open it back up.
Anybody seen this? Is there an auto-revert-to-the-hand-tool switch somewhere that I'm accidentally toggling?

The answer has been to press the space bar - your clip won't play and the tool will switch out of the Hand - easier than quitting...

Time Machine taking over my external HD
Is there a way to stop Time Machine from taking over my external HD? I have a 1T for video and photos and previously used Retrospect for the backups. It doesn't do it automatically with the iMac Intel Processor (older version of Retrospect) so I thought Time Machine would be the answer (instead of upgrading Retrospect). However, I am not willing to give up my entire HD to Time Machine - I only want my documents backed up and then the changes to files backed up with the previous backup deleted. Is there any way to do this? I've already excluded all the apps, etc. and still end up with huge backups. And according to the info about Time Machine, it's going to keep taking over the HD until it is full!!! The Retrospect backups for the past 3 months are 3G for the original backup of documents and the current backup.
In 24 hours with Time Machine I already have 75G and counting!!!

Well, OP is considering this option, and it one way to go TM-dedicated TM external. Really their options depend on how much free space is present on their Mac internal and current external. Disk Utility erase/ partition options will reformat, quite obviously, but even if they have just one external available it is usually possible to backup video and other stored files to say DVD media while they reorganize/ reformat their backup drive.
Another choice is to turn TM off.
Due to the magic of shareware there are now third-party utilities that allow you to alter the frequency of Time Machine Back up.

Prevent an add-on from taking over browsing toolbar
There is some extension of sorts that keeps taking over. It's called mp3tubetoolbar and every time I go to search a word in the toolbar it pops up using this engine. How to I change this to use bing for searching, and prevent it from changing it in the future?

Can someone advise as to how I remove Entourage from my list of calendars in iCal under "ON MY MAC". I haven't used Entourage for over 3 years now and this calendar keeps taking over iCal. It is causing issues with my creating calendar events and inviting people to the event. I have tried deleting Entourage from my list of calendars and it keeps reappearing.

Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.

URL Link and the W over the hand tool?
I think I have two things going here. 1 is how do I unlink a PDF to a URL? 2 what is the W over the hand tool? I want to highlight some text but the hand with the w shows the link of where I found the pdf and does not allow me to make the text changes I'm wanting to.
Second question first: The W over the Hand tool means that your link will open in your browser (W = Web).
First question: The link may have been created in the PDF file. But Acrobat/Reader by default creates links when it recognizes a URL. You can turn this off in Preferences > General. Uncheck "Create Links from URLs". -
