Hand Tool Question

Hello,
Everytime I use my cropping tool after a few minutes the hand tool appears and I cannot get my cropping tool to come back unless I turn of my computer for off for a period of time. Does anybody else have this problem; if so, how do I fix it!

Roger,
The most common cause for persisiting engagement of the hand tool is depression of the space bar on the keyboard. Check to be sure that dirt and debris do not interfere with its release.
If that does not fix it, reset the tool via the icon or arrow (depends on version of PE) at the top left of the tool's option bar.
If still persisits, you may have to reset preferences.

Arrow and Hand tool question/problem

The pointer tool is selected in the tool bar but when I go into the Timeline it defaults to the Hand tool. So when I try and resize the clip length, for example, I can because the Hand tool moves the whole screen.
Its only starting doing this is there a setting to change this?

It's a bug - try trashing your prefs:
1) Quit Motion.
2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences.
3) Locate com.apple.motion.plist and delete it.

CS6: 'lost' the T Type tool from the left hand tool bar. [was:A question]

I have CS6 and ghave suddenly 'lost' the T Type tool from the left hand tool bar. How do I get it back please?

Do you have the Text on a Path tool in it's place, or no tool at all? If you press and hold any tool with samll triangle in the lower right corner, like the text tool, it will expand to show you the other tools available in that spot.

Adobe Reader 8 won't start in "hand tool" mode

I have Adobe Reader 8.1.3 on Vista Home Premium.
The program will not start in 'hand tool' reading mode, it always starts in 'select tool' mode and I have to change it manually. If I quit reader after switching it to 'hand tool' mode, it does not remember, and next time starts in 'select tool' mode again.
In Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Basic Tools, the only Hand- or Select-tool checkbox that is checked is "Make Hand Tool Read Articles".
Based on a similar question in the Adobe Reader Unix forum (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c055988) I fould all the instances of registry key "aDefaultSelect" that I could (4 of them) and changed their values from "Select" to "Hand".
However this did not solve the problem!
Any help would be much appreciated.

URL Link and the W over the hand tool?

I think I have two things going here. 1 is how do I unlink a PDF to a URL? 2 what is the W over the hand tool? I want to highlight some text but the hand with the w shows the link of where I found the pdf and does not allow me to make the text changes I'm wanting to.

Second question first: The W over the Hand tool means that your link will open in your browser (W = Web).
First question: The link may have been created in the PDF file. But Acrobat/Reader by default creates links when it recognizes a URL. You can turn this off in Preferences > General. Uncheck "Create Links from URLs".

Hand Tool Default in Acrobat 9

I hope this is an easy question, but it has been bugging me since my last update. When I view a PDF (Acrobat 9 Pro) the select tool is the default. I cannot find any setting that will make the hand tool be the default. Does anyone know where this setting is, or some other way to save your preferences?

Hand tool and open gl

Two questions:
1) My hand tool won't go away no matter what tool I select....the problem lasts usually from 2-10 minutes,and it is all normal after that period...it fixes it self somehow....
2) I can't enable OpenGL drawing, I go to preferences,then performance,and that area is gray....I have ati 4850 512mb,which is supported graphic card,and I have the latest drivers

Ok Zeno, I have downloaded the files and unzipped them to my desktop. Before I run them though, is there a way to tell via photoshop if this is necessary? Meaning can I find out if Photoshop is recognizing my video card or not before installing these? The last thing I want to do is mess something up ^.^ Not that I'm saying you would lead me or anyone to that, just from the disclaimer on these files. ;-)
Also, I read the installation notes, and it says "double click on this file" but it doesn't mention which one LOL. If I need to go through with this process, which one to install?

CS4 - Windows XP - Freezing Hand Tool

It seems like all I am doing is posting questions on the forum but I really do try other things before posting...most times!
I recently posted a query about Out Of Bounds creation. I found a tutorial I was doing it. At a certain point the Hand Tool, which I wasn't even using would come up and I couldn't change the tool to do some free transformation on an object created using the stroke feature.
If I walk away from the job for a few minutes it seems to clear itself out and I can work again but only for a short time until it flushes again. I am using new equipment with CS4 in Windows XP. The computer performance shows 1-3% of CPU usage and I have 4 gig of RAM...not not much else is open either.
I then shut down, re-opened PhotoShop, Opened a NEW 11 x8.5 300dpi for my background, PLACED my photo I would work with, created a new layer, moved it to the position I wanted, and BINGO - Frozen hand tool for about 10-15 minutes.
Any thoughts on how I can avoid this or SOLUTION to not having it happen again. It's a bit hare to work this way.

Thanks again John. Part of the problem maybe the size of file I am working with as well so in reading other topics I have increased my RAM usage as well.
If you know about masking can I remain on this thread as ask(?)...I have gone through the tortures of the damned (that's one of the best ways to learn) playing with the masking in PhotoShop, quite a bit different than Corel. I think I have it pretty well figured out except for one thing.
If I create a mask and want to adjust pixel by pixel I go to the Quick Selection Tool knowing I can either add or subtract. I set my brush size to 1, Hardness to 100, Spacing to 1% hoping that when I click on the target pixel it will execute the + or -. Too many times I don't get just the target pixel, but an adjoining one as well....not good because the redundant vocabulary comes back!
Any thoughts on how to get JUST the target pixel in with + or -?

I'm a Photoshop user, and unless I didn't see it I couldn't find the Hand Tool
This is very helpful specially when zooming in to retouch details in specific areas, to move the document from an area to another.
Please tell me I'm wrong and it does exists on Photoshop Touch for Phone

How do I set the hand tool to be the default tool in Acrobat X?

I want the hand tool to be the default tool. The select tool is very annoying. This is a recent change - even last week the default tool was whatever tool I had used last. Now the select tool is always selected which is very frustrating. How do I set the hand tool to be the default tool in Acrobat X? I am running Acrobat Pro 10.1.4 on Windows 7.

I can see that it would be frustrating that you can restart PS with most last used tools, but not the Move tool. But I just checked and that does indeed seem to be the case. The obvious question is why you would like to have the Move tool selected when opening PS, and is there another route to achieve your ultimate objective?

In Adobe® Reader® is the tool for opening and using Adobe PDFs that are created in Adobe Acrobat®. I have very useful tool to move on the page on the screen it's called "Hand tool" .
The tool can allow you to move around the big page by the mouse.
the tool god for zoom in and walk around the page in small screen.

Retouching tool question

Question about retouching from an ACR greenhorn:
When viewing an image at 100% in the retouching window, how do I scroll around the image to inspect it for blemishes? The retouching window doesn't have scroll bars, and there don't appear to be hotkeys for reaching the hand tool from the retouching window.
I can of course click on the hand tool, move the image, then click back on the retouching tool, but this has two disadvantages. One, it is very clumsy. Two, when ACR reactivates the retouching tool the toolbar obscures the top edge of the image, making it impossible to correct blemishes hidden by the toolbar.
Any suggestions?

Hand tool and zoom resume

I apologize for this easy looking question, but neither the documentation nor my own tests seem to point me to a clear answer.
I have a waveform graph and I am using the zoom and hand tool on the graph palette.
1. After applying the hand tool, how can I resume to the original graph?
2. I zoom a part of the graph more than one time consecutively, let's say twice. After the secodn zoom, I would like to resume to the result of the first zoom.
The same way in which generally the zoom-in and zoom-out functionalities work.
On the graph palette, the left bottom icon of the zoom functions, offer just the possibility to resume to the initial version of the graph.
I couldn't find a way to achieve an incremental zoom-out as described above?
Is there any?

1) Use the Zoom to Fit
2) You will need to programatically make this. When you zoom in, store the X and Y scale data (max and min). You can then make a button to go back to the previous zoom by then setting the scale data with the values you stored.
