Handcrafted special paper best print settings?

Hi,
I own a HP Officejet 5610 All-in-one printer.
I have to print using a special handcrafted paper with the following features:
Weight from 180 gr/sqm to 200 gr/sqm
Border are raw and uneven
it probably absorbs a lot of ink
Which are the best setting to use qith this kind of paper?
Thank you in advance.
Simone

Hi Christoph (and all other viewers),
I am Prasad's co-worker and I have some additional information regarding this problem.  We have already tried adjusting the printer property settings and checking for scaling size, margins, paper sizes, etc. and was only able to adjust the paper size option.  There were no other options available to change for the printer properties.  We also printed the same document to a PDF print driver (with the only relevant setting being the paper size) and the document printed as it should (meaning without distortion or margin errors).  Additionally - when we chose the PDF Printer - we were able to set the border/margin settings to whatever values we liked (unlike when choosing other printers where the margin settings were set as they were and would not change despite attempting to change them).
What we are trying to figure out is why ECL viewer will not allow for margin/border settings to be changed only when printing to a PDF or some type of image writer print driver (such as Microsoft Document Image Writer).  We are wondering if there's some type of configuration setting within IMG or maybe a registry setting within Windows (on the local machine) that may need to be changed in order to allow for margin/border adjustments, or even an Snote to be applied.  We (and the client) are running ECL Viewer patch level 4 (patch level 5 (I believe) hasn't been released as of yet).  I hope this helps and thank you for your feedback thus far.

  • Best Printer Settings?

With my Epson 2400, should I follow the Aperture dialog advice and turn OFF color management using ColorSync (presumably letting Aperture do the color management?), or should I turn it off it Aperture and let the Epson stuff do the job?
I've downloaded the free premium Epson ICC profiles, but am not even sure I have the properly installed or setup, but it seems if I turn them off and rely on Aperture I won't be getting the benefit of them.
Any general or specific advice (other than making sure they are not both on?)

I would leave printer maangement off (pretty sure Aperture will make sure that happens by default). To take advantage of the Epson ICC profiles, open the "Colorsync Profiles" dropdown and you should see profiles for your printer and paper you wish to use. For example, I see a "SPR800 Matte Paper" for my Epson R800 printer. Not sure why it's called SPR, but look for something similar for the 2400.
Not that you can also turn on screen proofiing for these profiles as well if you wish to preview what you'll get.

  • How to change the paper type in printer settings?

Does anyone know how to change the paper type in printer settings?  I'm trying to have the ability to change it to photo paper from Photoshop Elements.  I can't find the option in printer settings or through Elements.  I'm assuming I could save an additional printer setting for photo printing, but can't find how to even select a different paper type.
    thanks!

It would help to know which OS you are running as the answer will be different if it's Lion or the previous OS's. You are not running iOS 5.0.1 on your MacBook Pro so provide the correct information.

  • Color management settings for the best print output

Color Management while Printing has been one of the challenging areas which has been discussed a lot over user forums and has been a painful area in terms of clear understanding while taking print outputs.
Here is an easy-to-understand KB (Knowledge Base) article ‘Color management settings for the best print output’ to help you get the best from your printers using PSE and bridge that knowledge gap.
This article explains color management in Photoshop Elements, how to get better prints, and addresses some of the following issues like horizontal/vertical streaks in print output, too dark or too light print output, ICC profile problems and Color differences between prints from PSE and other applications.
    Thanks,

    Thanks Noel.
Yes have shared in PSE forum as well. But I usually drop such posts on PS General forum so community moderators as well as our power users who mostly use both PS or PSE or are aware about can communicate to their students, audiences etc.
The idea is to reach out the message to as many as folks via relevant forums. Most of my otehr posts have found mentioned only on PSE forum.
Thanks for the feedback Nice to hear such a great feedback within 5 mts of publishing

  • TS3147 Where are all the print settings for my HP Officejet 5510 in Mac OS X 10.8.2?  I can't find Normal, just Draft and Best.

Where are all the print settings for my HP Officejet 5510 in Mac OS X 10.8.2??  I only have Fast, Fast B & W, and Best.  I want Normal so that it looks good but doesn't print so slowly.  Help.

    Hi,
Change the print settings manually by clicking the lowest drop-down within the print dialog (e.g. the application name, Copies & Pages within MSOffice.
Select Type/Quality and set the print quality as Normal.
You may seve the settings as a Preset from the Presets drop-down menu.

  • Best print-to-pdf settings for news articles

Hello, can anyone recommend appropriate settings to use for print to pdf of newspaper articles from a web browser? I archive articles from news sites as pdfs, which I then later use for both reading on pcs and portable devices and as print-outs. Specifically, what pdf standard is best to use in this case? I'm asking mainly because text in the pdfs I've made so far is much less smooth and difficult to read than I thought it would be when viewing on pc, even with acrobat 10 smoothing turned on. It makes the right edge of letters appear to be cut off. Mind you, i'm looking at the pdf at 86% (fit to height); when I zoom to 100%, the text becomes smooth again. And the pdfs also look very sharp on my portable devices. My screen is 1920x1080.
    Cheers

If it is a graphic, then a higher resolution would be useful. You should be able to tell if it is a graphic by zooming out and checking the pixels. If you are capturing the fonts, then they should look about the same at any zoom. You might want to be sure the fonts are embedded. Just as a check on some of the issues, try the press or print settings to see if things improve. The other option is to go back and modify the settings to a custom form, but good to start with one that look reasonable first -- or at least compare some of the settings files. There are other issues of the print resolution (the default 1200 dpi is typically a lot more than you need).

  • PS6; print; PS print settings; color management; printer profile: how to get paper profile to "stick" for multiple prints of same paper type, ie Matte. Mine reverts to Luster as the default.

    see question

    Hola Gustavo,
your task is for me not quite clear. I can see two scenarios:
    a) Calibrate the press for  ISONewspaper26v4 ink (your standard process) on salmon colored paper.
Print the target by press on this paper, measure and build the profile. There is no problem so far.
But preparing CMYK data with this profile for printing by press requires a very complicated gamut
compression, becauses the gamut of the actual process on salmon paper is small and excentric
in Lab. As mentioned in my previous post.
    b) Simulate the appearance of press prints on salmon paper, disregarding the salmon color by profiles.
This shall be done in your case by a toner printer.
The toner printer has to be calibrated with white paper. As a result one gets a valid Printer Profile.
The proof printing happens for a CMYK file, for instance a PDF/X-1a file so:
        Input profile: ISONewspaper26v4
        Output profile: Printer Profile
        Printed on salmon paper!
The printer profiling converts the toner printer into a more or less reliable proof printer. This has nothing
        to do with colored paper.

  • Canon MP980 Printer Settings - Photo Rag Paper

Not sure that this is an Aperture problem as such but, using Aperture 2.1.4, I am having difficulty with Canon MP980 printer settings to print on Canon 'Photo Rag' paper. Printer driver gives me a code 88 error re margins.
    Has anyone any ideas?

In case anyone sees this, the problem seems to have been solved - but I have no idea how this happened. Suddenly Quality and Media, Colour options, etc became available, but no idea what I did to produce this. As a PC user of 20 years experience, I thought this only happened with Microsoft, clearly I was wrong.

  • For my power shot S5IS, best camera settings for 4 X 6 prints?

for my power shot S5IS, best camera settings for 4 X 6 prints? I would like to have the best setting so when i print out the photos,i do not need to crop or trim. It is close, but i feel it can be better.

The bad news is that you can't do anything in camera to get that result. The good news is that once you understand the possibilities you'll appreciate being able to control how your prints get framed (cropped). Your camera produces images in a 3:4 ratio while a 4 X 6 is a 2:3 ratio so if you don't know in advance that you need to crop some from the top, bottom, or both to make your image fit the 2:3 ratio & frame too tightly when taking the photo you're in trouble. Learn to shoot in a way that allows cropping to match common print sizes, and find a simple editing program to crop in computer. This should be standard practice because even though you may want a 4 X 6 now down the road you might want a 5 X 7 so keep your options open.
If you don't have an editing program that easily does this & you're on a PC download Picasa which is an excellent program for this & it's free. Once you have it running select one of your existing photos, select "crop" from the menues on the first tab & then play around with the different options Picasa has built in to see the effects to your image. NOTE that it won't throw away the data outside the crop box even though it may look like it has. You always have the option to "undo crop". Once you get a result you like you "export"  & create a new file cropped as seen on screen WITHOUT modifying the original file.

  • I have a MacBook Air and for what ever reason, the print settings have gone out of whack. I am not sure how to set to print a normal A4 paper size or a standard envelope. These settings were working O.K., but not now

I have a MacBook Air and for what ever reason the print settings for envelopes and normal A4 paper size changed from printing correctly each time I wished to print. Now, each time I wish to print either, I have to rest paper size and or Envelope vertical or horizontal. Can anyone assist with how to reset in order to print correctly without the need to rest each time please?

Log in to the Developer forum. You will find instructions on how to install the lastest beta. Your problem is the beta you have installed has expired. All of them did on October 5; you will find hundreds of threads discussing this. If you have a beta it is assumed that you will continue as a beta tester, so a simple update using iTunes will not work.
If you no longer want to be a beta tester install the GM 7.0.2 by restoring from iTunes using DFU mode.

  • MF8580 prints two pages, then gives paper size and settings mismatch error. Help!

Hello, I have been dealing with this problem for weeks now. When i called support, they told me it was my computer, that it was "running slow" and that i need to pay for their service - that fixing errors in my registry would fix the problem. However, i have my own registry cleaner and that isnt the problem. Every time i print something, the printer will print the first two pages, and then beep, giving me the error "paper size and settings mismatch Drawer 1" - I have everything set to letter - in the driver, on the printer, etc. I do nto understand why it prints two pages and then tells me there is a mismatch. If i open and close the drawer, it will print the second page again and then the third page, and give me the same error again. rinse and repeat. This also happens when multiple documents are spooled. I send three - one page documents, it will print the first and second, give me the error, i open and close the paper drawer 1, then it prints document two and three - then gives me the same error - i open and reclose and it prints the thrid document... I am just baffeled.

    Hi!
To ensure the most accurate information is provided, we will need to know the version of Windows or Mac in use. Also, we wanted to mention that it sounds like the number you reached was not an official Canon support number, as we do not charge for support.  If this is a time-sensitive matter, our US-based technical support team is standing by, ready to help 24/7 via Email at http://bit.ly/EmailCanon or by phone at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) weekdays between 10 AM and 10 PM ET (7 AM to 7 PM PT).

  • How to set print settings

I have an Epson R260 printer and previously printed using photoshop Elements, with Elements managing the color. I am trying to figure out how to print using iPhoto.
When I choose a photo and click the print button, I get a box that has 4 presets: "Photo on Photo paper", "Photo on Photo Paper - Fine", and 2 more for matte paper. I pick the Photo on Photo Paper - Fine preset and click the Print button. This gives me another print dialog, again with a Presets drop-down, but now with "Standard" available and preselected. Should I re-select the "Photo on Photo Paper - Fine" option here? Or leave it at Standard? There also is an "Advanced" button, which allows me to choose Print Settings -- once more allowing me to select a paper type and print quality, as well as color management, where I can set what looks like parameters for the Epson print driver -- Mode (Epson Vivid is preselected, but Standard and Adobe RGB are other selections) and Gamma (1.8 is preselected, but 1.5 and 2.2 are available).
I've gone through 3 or 4 different tries at combinations and either get something rather garish, or too dark. Can someone help out?

    Jim:
What I do is create a special setting for the printer while in PSE with the settings for the paper quailty and other items that you use for best prints and save with a custom name. Then go thru the print process in iPhoto selecting the printer and print size. Then in the last window you can select the custom setting that you developed earlier.
You'll be able to use those settings from any application.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Safari doesn't remember print settings

    hi all
i'm using safari 1.3.2 under panther, & i want to print a bunch of web pages with a layout of 2 pages of text per printed page. this works fine when i use the layout feature in the print dialog box, but the problem is that i have to do this every time. how can i get safari to remember my previous print settings? or is this possible?
thanks in advance for any suggestions/comments!
    brian

    Hi Brian,
I'm not on my Mac at the moment, but if memory serves, I believe after making the necessary customisation with regards to layout, paper handling, you can click on the 'presets' field and save your particular scheme for use in the future. I'm not sure if you can specify a user-created scheme as default but I'd imagine it's possible as well.
I hope Tiger and Panther are similar at least in that respect. All the best!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910, 2 sections different paper size, prints incorectly

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910.
My Word document has 2 pages in 2 sections the first page and section is an envelope and the second page is a letter.   On the 8500, if I choose to print just the 2nd page (the letter) it uses the envelope paper size and print half the width. Tried Word 2003/2007/2010 same thing.
This prints fine on an BusinessJet pro2230

    Hi monkplayer,
It looks like your problem is solved? There wasn't a problem with the printer itself, just the printer settings on your Mac?
This is good information though. We don't always have detailed solutions for customers that are using Safari, since it is hard to write instructions for the general public with specific steps for each operating system.
    Best of luck,
