Handing off XDCAM EX footage for an Avid based client

Just wanted to check the workflow for handing off my XDCAM EX footage to one of my Avid based clients,
My original thoughts were to dump the footage using the XDCAM transfer software, then just transfer the files to their drives or burn to a DL DVD.
will they be able to use the mp4 files as they were captured using my mac?

i'd suggest you give them the files as MXF wrapped clips ... you can do this from FCP using Sony's XDCAM Transfer or from the original camera files using Sony's Clip Browser app
alternatively have your AVID counterpart install Calibrated Q's XD Decode codec bundle so that they can read the same quicktime mov's that you're using in FCP

  • What kind of approach for new XML-based clients

    Hi.
    Our firm is using Oracle-technology everywhere, and now we would
    like to find out what kind of XML-based technology would suit us
    best for a new generation of our products.
    Our products are now using old Forms 3-clients and we're doing a
    research on replacing this technology with Internet-based
    clients. Java-clients are one option, but now we'd really like
    to know about thin-clients which wouldn't have much code run on
    the server. We have already done extranet-clients with OAS
    PL/SQL-cartridges and have found out that HTML-clients require
    much work and can't have too much logic on them.
    So, we have already OAS running on Oracle 8.0.5.1.0 -server and
    would like to know what kind of XML-strategy would be a
    reasonable solution. I know about these tools: XML Parser for
    xx, XML SQL Utility for Java, XSQL Servlet.
    -But what would be a reasonable combination of these and what
    kind of thin-client could we use? XSL?
    -What kind of development tools could we use for clients (or do
    we have to use text-editors)?
    -Which of these tools require Oracle 8i and is it stupid to even
    think about XML-based applications without Oracle 8i?
    Thanks,

    NO. Have you taken a look at the specs page for Mac Pro?
    Or when you go to OWC for Mac Pro Memory.

    2GB modules are better, especially if you need more than 4GB, but you want to have 4 DIMMs, 4 x 2GB or 4 x 1GB.

  • Handing off a RoboHelp 8 HTML project to a client

    I'm wrapping up a RoboHelp 8 HTML project for a client. I am copying the files to a shared drive, a
    nd another person will be copying the files to his PC to maintain the help after I'm gone. Is there any d
    anger of corruption of files, or are there any special steps we need to take? I need an answer by tomorrow morning.
    Thanks so much.
    Mendonite

    Hi there
    As long as they copy the files from the shared drive to their PC, things should be fine.
    If you have concerns, you might also want to zip the project(s) and place the zip(s) among the files too. Just in case.
    Personally, I'd keep copies of the zips as well. That way if things go south and they call you, you can save the day by providing the zip to them.

  • Preventing Listener's hand-off

    Scenario:
    Oracle 10.2.0.4 RAC server.
    Certain clients (running Oracle 10.1.0.4 SE) connect via a self rolled NAT load balancing firewall (long story - bottom line is that there is no real better way given the complex networking infrastructure these specific clients run in).
    If the client is for example from subnet a.b.c, it will be "redirected" (IP packet header rewritten using NAT) to a specific RAC node.
    Problem description:
    This is working fine (for some years now) - but the specific Oracle client (on subnet a.b.c) needs to know which RAC node it is being redirected to. It needs to specify the SID of that RAC instance in the TNS connection string. Why? Using the SID forces the listener on that node to accept the client's connection without handing it off to another listener and another instance on another node.
    And this is a problem ito high availability. That specific node may not always be available (and we can auto configure the NAT firewall to send traffic from subnet a.b.c to a different node all together).
    Ideally we want to use the SERVICE_NAME instead, but without any form of Oracle listener load balancing, fail over or being handed off to another instance.
    If the client connects to a listener using SERVICE_NAME "foo", we want the Listener to accept that (as "foo" is a registered service by the local instance). We do not want the listener to arbitrarily select another RAC node instance (also servicing "foo") and redirect the client's connection there.
    However, does not matter how the TNS is configured with SERVICE_NAME (and explicitly disabling load balancing and so on). the listener mostly will hand off the connection to another listener - and the client will then throw a "+ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist+" as it is unable to reach the IP supplied by the listener.
    Trust that I explained this well enough... bottom line is that we want to tell the listener, via a SERVICE_NAME connection string, not to hand the connection over to another listener. Simple as that. But despite trying a number of config setting and hunting through the Oracle Network ref guide, it does not seem to be simple at all...
    Any ideas, comments and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Did you try setting the DIRECT_HANDOFF_TTC_<listenername>=OFF in the listener.ora ?Thanks. Tried it, did not make any difference.
    It is also not listed as a parameter in Oracle® Database Net Services Reference guide. Which made me wonder if is is still supported with 10.2.
    I had a look on Metalink (using direct hand-off as search criteria) and run into utterly useless note 90707.1 - Connecting to Database Through a Network Address Translator (NAT). Which describes the exact issue I have, but does not provide any tangible solutions or references on how to solve it in my case. There is a reference to another note (dealing with firewalls) which mentions in passing "+In dedicated server mode, Unix natively implements TCP/IP sharing, so there should be no problem with connectivity+". Now if we assume that direct handoff is by default on for Unix/Linux, then the problem I have is with the Listener load balancing and causing a redirect when the client wants no load balancing at all. Thus it would seem to be a RAC listener specific problem.
    Using CMAN is not an option. Do not want to introduce even more s/w layers for the connectivity tier - besides, the NAT firewall works just fine and does exactly what we want it to do. Now if only the RAC listeners will play ball and not send redirect hand offs to the client when using a service name to connect.
    Any ideas on how to tell a listener not to load balance an incoming client connection and simply service and connect/hand-off that connection as the client states?

  • My iphone 4s running ios8 doesnt have an option to toggle hands off on. should one exist?

    I've just upgraded to Yosemite and wanted to run the hands off option but my iphone 4s with ios8 doesnt give me an option to turn hands off on.
    Cheers

    Only for Phone calls. Your Mac would also need to have Bluetooth 4.0 as well
    (from: Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity)
    To use Handoff, you need two or more of these Apple products:
    iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
    iPhone 4s (sharing iPhone calls only)
    iPad (4th generation), iPad Air
    iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display
    iPod touch (5th generation)
    These devices must use iOS 8 or later.

  • Web based client for lync server 2013 , only for IM/presence

    Hi,
      for 20000 users, 4 FE servers, HA . only for IM/presence , looking for web/browser based client so that there will not be any need of thick client installation. is there any way? thanks

    if i integrate lync 2013 with exchange 2013 OWA, wil reverse proxy or Edge server will come into picture?
    If you have users who are external to your network , then yes Edge server and reverse proxy will come into the picture.
    will integration of lync 2013 with exchange 2013 provide the following
    one-to-one, one-to-many chat. ?
    Yes
    archiving of chats at server side.
    you need to install archiving server for lync .
    Instant messaging should support rich text, emoticons.
    Yes
    Instant Messaging/ Chat should provide file transfer facility.
    Yes
    instant Messaging/chat should provide rich client and web client.
    i guess the first question is the same thing
    The mail messaging solution should have administrative control for file transfer.
    Exchange server wont control file transfer. You have client policies applied through Lync server for
    this.
    I hope you have seen this link for information related to Lync clients.

  • Petition for Continuity / Hands off on WIFI

    Hi everyone, and Apple.
    You guys had 3 keynotes in the past 1/2 year. You show of with the continuity, hands off function. You had a lot of time to let people know you are not planing to support any older mac (pre 2012) for this function, but you didn't even mentioned it at all.
    It's understandable this functions requires Bluetooth 4.0 for some reason. Now I have a question for you: any chance to:
    use a bluetooth dongle to activate it on an older system?
    if not:
    Will you consider to introduce the WiFi version of this features? If you read it and have a same thoughts please comment it so Apple can hear us!!!
    Really hope for a reasonable solution for everyone who has an older system. The idea to buy a new mac would drive a big chunk of people to back to PC since it's cheaper..... so please do not come with that. That's not acceptable from the worlds best company.

    Many thanks, I didn't mean to do something bad... How can I remove this thread? (Don't want to get into a trouble! )

  • I like to use mac for phone calls but I cannot see hand off device feature in preferences

    Hi,
    I can send and recieve messages from my mac using IOS 8.1 and yosemite but unable to make phone calls. I check the video on how to make phone calls & it asking me to put a check mark under hands off device under general preference but somehow I'm not seeing that option on my computer. What I need to do?

    Handoff is limited to Macs with Bluetooth 4.0, which leaves many older Macs unable to access the new features. Additionally, even though the 2011 MacBook Air and 2011 Mac mini include Bluetooth 4.0, Apple has chosen to make both devices incompatible with OS X Yosemite's Continuity features.

  • Blue tooth compatibility for hand off feature

    Is the hand off compatibility between newer and older devices (MacBook Pros) going to be bridged somehow by Yosemite or a plug-in? If not, does this mean hand off will only work on brand new computers/mobile devices?

    "and I have successfully paired the iPhone with a Dell laptop for file transfer"
    This is not a feature of legit iphones.
    File transfer via bluetooth has never been a feature of any legit iphone/ipad.

  • Where to get raw footage for my students?

    I am teaching a video editing class and I need to find some raw footage for them to edit. I have some projects that came with the class but they are old and not very good. One project uses footage of a bank robbery that I now learned is for a short film called, "The Heist," but we are missing some of the footage and I cannot seem to find it anywhere online (or hardly any information about it). I do not need the highest quality footage but I do need complete projects, so the students can look at all the different shots and cut them down into finished products (commercials, music videos, corporate videos, short films, TV shows, anything and everything I can find). Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

    I too would be interested in getting my hands on what you are looking for.  And have tried. And I work on movies, tv shows, commercials as a grip... on crews....so you would think it would be fairly easy for me to find ...  After more than a year of keeping my eyes peeled for stuff I still haven't been able to get material like that.
    I'll mention what I've found out as it might help narrow your own search down.
    First off you're not looking for "raw" footage... raw is a type of video format and when I read this thread title that's what I thought you were looking for...
    There is some raw footage samples at this link ...and a few "shots" that can be edited together ( like same scene , 2 camera angles )...but nothing near as long as you are looking for....
    However, the footage is like from a red camera or prosumer cameras...I only used a couple clips from red camera from this link...and didnt check out all the stuff thats there...so you'd have to check it out yourself...
    http://groups.adobe.com/assets/CreativeSuite5/CS5-Demo-Assets/
    AECS 5_ Demo Assets_ final zip is the one I used...
    within that zip file I used a couple clips of a guy running while explosions happen on either side of him...that you can "edit"... short though.  you might find more stuff to use.
    what you're looking for is "scripted" material ( could be MOS ( no sound ) --and probably would be if pro stuff )
    pro stuff has sound mixed separately from the camera, and slates ( clappers ) are used in each shot to sync the sound later.
    If you do manage to find "dailies" from a tv show or movie, commercial, etc... that would most likely be on DVD and the quality for editing and export would not be the best cause its aleady mpeg 2 - dvd compression for viewing....
    If you want the original stuff it would have to be on hard drive or tape.... which isn't going to happen.
    DVD dailies given by productions to the director of photography and some others on the crews are given BACK to production in most cases, and everyone signs secrecy clauses and all that stuff, so sharing that stuff with anyone is a clear violation of not only that contract but also the copyright laws.
    So getting dailies is not a very promising and likely scenario.....
    With maybe one exception... if you are an accredited school and you write to the producers of a TV show you MIGHT be able to get samples of very old show dailies or dailies from a show that has been cancelled a long time ago ( no more likelihood of marketing in a secondary market )  But as you know, DVD's are still sold now for old Hawaii Five-O TV shows...so this route for you is probably going to require you and your students sign some sort of copyright stuff etc just to "play" with the stuff...
    You can see how getting material like you would like to have ( and me too ! ) is very hard to come by....good luck and if you find any source please post it here as I would also like to find that sort of stuff...even if it is just DVD stuff.
    good luck

    another important information is that connecting by the default listener LISTENER instead of the LISTENER_BKP_1 listener, the connection is completed successfully. There's enough SGA memory space too.

    ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connectionDon't do Oracle on Windows, so I'm not sure how the following relates to the Listener dealing with a dedicated server connection request on Linux/Unix.
    On Linux/Unix, a dedicated server request means just that - a dedicated process has to be started to service that client. The Listener does it by using the parameters of the configured listener.ora service to execute +$ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle+. This process then starts up, and the Listener hands off the client connection for this process for servicing.
    If there is a failure somewhere on this series of steps fail, the Listener throws the ORA-12518 exception. For example, the +$ORACLE_HOME+ has been incorrectly configured in listener.ora and it fails to execute and startup a dedicated server process.
    And this relates to the underlying error you are seeing:
    TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
    TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
    32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directoryI think that the Listener on Windows uses the CreateRemoteThread() Win32 call to start up the server process thread. However, it needs a valid process identifier (of the existing Oracle instance) for this call - and thus needs to first identify the Oracle instance process. Could be that this step uses a ORACLE_HOME reference. And if that directory path is not valid, it is unable to identify the process id of the Oracle instance and thus unable to spawn a dedicated thread to service that client.

    What is the operating system and database version for remote and local machines.
    Are you using dedicated or threaded server on the remoted DB. More information is needed.
    output from error message search:-
    12518, 00000, "TNS:listener could not hand off client connection"
    // *Cause: The process of handing off a client connection to another process
    // failed.
    // *Action: Turn on listener tracing and re-execute the operation. Verify
    // that the listener and database instance are properly configured for
    // direct handoff. If problem persists, call Oracle Support.
    // *Comment: The problem can be worked around by configuring dispatcher(s)
    // to specifically handle the desired presentation(s), and connecting
    // directly to the dispatcher, bypassing the listener.

  • Solaris 10 hands-off installation from a bootable DVD

    Hello,
    I have a problem with installing the Solaris 10 using a bootable DVD with a flar archive. I want this installation to be totally hands-off, but unfortunately after I run this boot command at the ok prompt:
    ok boot cdrom - install ...
    the system is rebooted and the interactive Solaris Installation Program is launched:
    {color:#3366ff}-- The Solaris Installation Program
    The Solaris installation program is divided into a series of short sections
    where you'll be prompted to provide information for the installation. At
    the end of each section, you'll be able to change the selections you've
    made before continuing.
    About navigation...
    - The mouse cannot be used
    - If your keyboard does not have function keys, or they do not
    respond, press ESC; the legend at the bottom of the screen
    will change to show the ESC keys to use for navigation.

    On the next screens I have to choose the NFS4 domain:
    {color:#3366ff}-- NFSv4 Domain Name{color}
    {color:#3366ff}NFS version 4 uses a domain name that is automatically derived from the
    system's naming services. The derived domain name is sufficient for most
    configurations. In a few cases, mounts that cross domain boundaries might
    cause files to appear to be owned by "nobody" due to the lack of a common
    domain name.
    The current NFSv4 default domain is: ""

    {color:#3366ff}[X] Use the NFSv4 domain derived by the system
    [ ] Specify a different NFSv4 domain
    Esc-2_Continue Esc-6_Help
    {color}
    After I select "Continue", the installation is proceeding automatically.
    Could you please tell me what I should to to make this installation hands-free?
    The sysidcfg file contains these parameters:
    system_locale=C
    timezone=PST8PDT
    timeserver=localhost
    terminal=sun-cmd
    name_service=NONE
    nfs4_domain=dynamic
    network_interface=primary {netmask=255.255.255.0 protocol_ipv6=no}
    security_policy=NONE
    I have found some information in the internet, that I need to create the
    .NFS4inst_state.domain file in /etc directory. But it doesn't work...
    I have also read that I need to edit the post installation script, but as far as I know this script is executed after the installation, so it doesn't affect the solaris Installation Program that is launched after the first reboot.
    If you could give me any tips on how to resolve yhis problem, I'd be very thankful.
    Regards,
    Przemek

    I had similar, not identical, issues with a custom JumpStart DVD I was creating. I was not using flar and it was for x86, not SPARC.
    I found that changing the case for the value assigned to network_interface made a difference. In looking at the sysidcfg manpage and online JumpStart documentation, all the examples they used had capitalized "PRIMARY" and "NONE". When I changed the value to the capitalized equivelant, my particular issue had gone away.
    You may also want to consider adding ip_address and default_route to the network_interface section. Test either way to identify the differing results.
    In my particular scenereo, I did not want any networking configuration to be done. The resulting line in sysidcfg was:
    network_interface=NONE {hostname=jsclient}HTH

    Attempting to connect my MacBook to my 4s iPhone.  I have had them connected in the past to use the "hands off" function. Today it tells me "network unavailable"  make sure network access is enabled.  I don't know what to do. I love the hands off feature as my iPhone is never with me when on my mac! I'm not sure what to do.  Both are "discoverable" via bluetooth and show up on each device but when I try to connect it says "network unavailable".  HELP!

    An iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7722
    If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5458
