Handling boot-critical Win 7 drivers in ZCM imaging

Does anyone know how to handle boot-critical drivers with ZCM imaging?
These are typically disk controller and/or NIC drivers.
MS WIM seems to require that you mount the image and "reflect" the
driver into the image. (Gotta love MS's way with words.)
I was wondering if this could be done in one of the Sysprep phases?
Use and add-on image to deliver the boot-critical driver to, say,
C:\Drivers then install it during the phase.
I tried the Windows-PnpCustomizationsNonWinPE entry in the
offlineServicing phase. Doesn't work.
Maybe the Windows-PnpCustomizationsNonWinPE or
Windows-PnpCustomizationsWinPE entry in the windowsPE phase?
I'm trying to avoid having to open the image and add critical drivers
that way.
BTW, I've gotten other drivers to install easily in a Powershell
script with DPINST. Works like a champ and allows me to deliver just
the drivers I need as an add-on image.
All suggestions/discussion welcome.

Don

  • How to reboot osx lion after booting in win 7

Hi installed lion on MacBook. Booted into win 7 ( was dual boot in Osx). Can't reboot into lion now. If I choose ' reboot into Osx ' in windows boot camp - it reboots into win7. If I hold alt and reboot, it boots into lion, then restarts immediately into win 7. Have keynote to give in a few hours and am now desperate.
Sorry for spelling having to write this on iPad and autocrooect is a birch.

If you completely wipe the original Mac mini boot drive you will wipe the Server.app software an dlose it. You should make a backup first, perhaps by saving the entire boot drive as a Disk Image file on to another drive.
In terms of install 10.6, the 10.6 DVD will not boot on the new Mac mini even if you connect a DVD drive. You need to put the Mac mini in to FireWire Target Disk Mode and connect it to an older Mac that will allow booting from that DVD, then install on to the Mac mini (over FireWire), you then need to upgrade it using the 10.6.8 Combo Updater this will add the drivers needed for the new Mac mini.

  • Question 4 Audio Pros using MBP booted in Win XP- do Win audio apps work?

Are any of you audio pros successfully using windows audio apps on a MBP booted into Win XP?
I understand that most pros will use native Mac audio applications under Mac OS X - there are obviously plenty to handle almost any job. However... the fact is, there are some very cool audio applications available for use under Windows exclusively.
While I do currently own a PC, I have owned dozens of macs in the past (ranging from the 33MHz Quadra 950, through the PowerBook G4 1GHz & PowerMac Dual G4 1.25GHz - all while working as a professional audio engineer). With that said, my experience with virtually booting into Windows with a Mac was horrible at best - specificially when attempting to use Windows for specialized audio work. But I haven't worked on a Mac since the fall of 2004. In the past 3 years, a lot has changed with the Mac line.
If you're an audio pro who has had success using audio applications made for windows on a MacBook Pro 2.2 or 2.4GHz, would you please let us know which Windows audio application(s) you have used with success?
(Please, if you do not have direct experience using audio applications for Windows on your MacBook Pro, please refrain from posting. I'm looking for comments from professionals with first hand experience, not opinions on what might or might not work. My most sincere thanks in advance.)

It appears that you CAN use audio programs under Parallels without issue... I'm SOLD on this MBP. Thanks to oxxle from Germany for the assistance answering this question.

  • Won't boot to Win XP off HDD but will load

Just built system, all new, Windows XP installed and activated after flashing mobo and updating all drivers.  Boot order in BIOS is CD-HDD-Floppy, have tried HDD-CD-Floppy, no difference.  HDD is sole drive master on IDE 1 (yes, the two opticals on IDE 2 put them in contention but I need a longer IDE cable to slave DVD to IDE 1 with HDD).
System will not boot to Win XP without install disk in CD.  If disk IS in CD boots to Win XP and runs without a hitch, has straight out of the gate since the build.
I have a feeling it's something terribly basic/obvious that I'm just not seeing or have forgotten, but I'm at a loss and frustrated.  Any advice or help would be v-e-r-y appreciated.  Just for the record, first system I've built, was happy everything has worked so smoothly except this one annoying fly ion the ointment.

take the jumper of the drive for standalone master

I tried to partition him using bootcamp but didn't have mac os cd neither mac instalation. the problem i am dealing now its that i cant go back to OS partition since its not appeared when i restart c and no win drivers to have a properly running system. I've thought as an option to re-download boot-camp and run the instalation from windows partition and see if i can repair it that way, didnt try yet thought just in case anyone has a better prposition or dealed with the same problem

Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first  year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.
    Good luck.

  • Zcm imaging via pxe

hi all, i am having an issue where found out that Imaging Script cannot be used to multicast so i am running in to a problem now. If i push out an image via zcm script bundle it works fine with your suggestions but i cannot seem to figure out why the image wipes out all the hard drives in the systems during multicast image set or a single image load via pxe boot.
    First problem:
if i push out an image via Zenworks Image preboot bundle file set is set to 1 it wipes out all the hardrvie in the system (tow hard drive, disk 0 and disk 1. i can certainly fix the disk resizing issue by adding a script to unattaned file after the image is loaded to resize the disk automatically using diskpart commands. which works fine.
    Second problem:
    here is what i did:
    1. created an multicast Image Set
    2. number of clients needed set to 1
    3. Time out in five minutes
It does not load the image znd waits for session to start.
how can i automate this via zcm to make sure on pxe boot the both pcs receive the image as scheduled in zcm.
    Please assist.
    thank you

  • Back Screen when Injecting Drivers into Discovery Image

I am using windows server 2012 with ADK 8.1
The discovery wim was created from a windows 7 enterprise boot wim
The  drivers I am using are windows 7 drivers for Optiplex 7010 downloaded from here
    http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/w/wiki/2065.dell-driver-cab-files-for-enterprise-client-os-deployment.aspx#WinPE
I created two driver folders one dell x32 and one dell x64.
I have tried injecting only the network drivers into 32 and 64 bit discovery images making sure only x64 drivers were used with 64 bit images and the same for 32 image only using 32 bit drivers.
I retried the above steps however I injected all available drivers available in addition to the network drivers and had the same result.
After the windows 8.1 splash screen appears and then goes away the screen remains black. What may be the cause of this?

    Hi,
I wonder which driver did you injected. Boot.wim contain a widows PE image, and windows 7 code based windows PE version is winPE3.0.
So I suppose we need a winPE3.0 driver but not the one for windows 7.

  • Can I set up my Macbook Pro to boot to Win 7 from an external drive?

Rather than partition my internal drive for having to work with Windows & Office 2010 (specifically Access 2010) can I set up my macbook pro to boot to Win 7 from an external drive?

No, not with Boot Camp. I've never even tried it with a VM (which I use) - I keep all the data on my internal drive. I'm not saying that it couldn't be done with a VM, I've just never tried it.

  • Help - How to install Win XP in dual boot with Win 7 (first installed)?

    Hi everybody!
I'm having some difficult in install a win xp in dual boot with win 7 (which came with the G550 notebook).
I modified the D: (Lenovo) partition to a primary partition to install the XP.  Also I installed the EasyBCD to manange the boots and both S.O. load fine.
The problem is that Win XP is seeing a partition (the first partition on disk) with 200MB that is hidden for Win 7 !   So this partition takes the C: letter in XP and mess all the configuration once that many programs uses the C: as a default letter.
The disk is divided in (aprox):
200 MB hidden partition (from factory)
    160GB with Win 7 installed
    40GB with Win XP installed
19GB hidden partition (Recovery - from factory)
Is anyone has some idea who to solve this problem or make install XP from the beginning without problems?
    Thank a lot!

  • BSOD After Installing Boot Camp 5640 Drivers on Win7 x64

I get a BSOD after installing the Boot Camp 5640 drivers on Windows 7 x64 Professional due to "CACHE_MANAGER". If install the drivers individually, this does not happen (provided I don't run bootcamp.exe).
This wouldn't be a problem except that I can't get the trackpad working properly without running setup.exe or bootcamp.exe.

    what is your exact rMBP

  • My MacBook Pro keyboard not working correctly after Win7 bootcamp installation. In OSx boot it keep Win keyboard. How can I have Mac keyboard in OS boot and Win keyboard in Win boot?

My MacBook Pro keyboard not working correctly after Win7 bootcamp installation.
Installation went well but when I boot either with OSx or Win it always keeps Windows keyboard.
How can I have Mac keyboard in OS boot and Win keyboard in Win boot?

Hi - I have the exact same model as your MacBook and had a few questions as mine is acting up. I upgraded the ram to 8gb (2x 4GB ram) and ever since then my computer has not been running as smoothly and the start up time is horrendous. Have you encountered this problem? And if so how did you fix? What would you advise me do?
I was thinking of reverting back to the original factory 4GB then rebooting the entire computer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Boot Camp Video Drivers

Where can I find updated Boot Camp Video drivers? I want to update my video drivers on my MacBook running Boot Camp w/ Windows XP. Can I download XP video drivers from nVidia and install?

    Hi there,
I recently had XP on my Macbook pro (Late 08) and wanted to update the nvidia GPU drivers. So all I had to do was get the "Correct" ones from the nvidia website and just installed them like normal.
That being said, I ran into some problems with Windows Vista 64. Constant crashing when booting into the desktop due to incompatible graphics drivers. So what I had to do there was enter the device manager and "Roll back" the graphics driver. THEN restart in safemode and install the updated graphics driver.
Maybe give that a try and see what happens? Hope we could help you...

  • Installed Leopard 10.5.1, Will not boot into Win XP

I installed Leopard recently on my work laptop.
Before it had 10.4.11 and Win XP properly working on it.
Now after Leopard was installed, It will not boot into Win XP,
just gives a Black Screen and never progresses past that,
I hard reboot, and it boots fine back into Leopard.
All software updates up until 10.5.2 have been applied,
will applying 10.5.2 fix this issue?

All my financial records are on the Windows side of the iMac. I've used BootCamp for more than a year, I have MacOS 10.5 (very recently updated from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2), and there has been no problem with starting Windows until today. When I restart and hold down the option key, it always boots up into the MacOS. How do I get Windows?

  • Any special caution to have a dual boot (Linux + win 7) on a X220 thinkpad ?

May I need any special caution to have a dual boot (ubuntu 11.04 + win 7) on a X220 with the mysterious UEFI firmware ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Hi
The unit was preinstalled with Win 8 64bit right?
Changing the BIOS setting from UEFI to CSM and disabling the secure boot prevent the notebook from booting the Win 8!
Therefore the unit cannot find the bootable device and switches to last option: LAN.
But since the notebook cannot find bootable system via LAN, the error PXE-E61: Media test faliure, check cable appears.
If you want to use a dual boot, you have to boot into Win 8
In Win 8 you have to create an partition for Linux installation. This can be down in Win 8 disk management. You have to shrink an last partition and have to create new one on the available free space.
Now to start the Linux installation you need an media.. you can burn the Linux iso on DVD or an bootable USB stick. There are many details in internet how to create such media.
Once you have created the bootable USB, restart your PC with connected USB.
Press F12 to get the boot menu. Now you should see the USB memory stick (if bootable!!!) choose USB and you should be able to install Linux (Ubuntu is great!)
Here is a nice page which would provide the whole step by step instruction!
