Handling of asian characters in CRM ICWC / WebUI?

hi
we would like to allow people entering asian text (e.g. chinese) in Interaction Center WebClient / WebUI. they'll be using English as logon language.
will now everyone (also european users etc.) looking at this text see the correct characters? or will only asian users be able to see it properly?
thanks for helping out on this.
regards
nicola

The related systems need to be upgraded to unicode (CRM, ECC) and the chinese language loaded.
The ICWC should then support the asain characters.
We'll find out for ourselves in the next 3 - 6 months as we are just about to do the unicode upgrade.

  • Using FileReader/Writer with Asian Characters - can you spot my problem?

    Hi,
    I can read in and write out one byte at a time with Asian characters, but if I try to do it one line at a time the Asian output is garbage. I will list both little programs here, and hopefully someone can educate me on my problem.
    +++1st, *this {color:#339966}works fine{color} with Asian characters:*+
    +{color:#000000}import java.io.*;*{color}+
    {color:#000000}class copybyte
    public static void main (String args[]) throws IOException
    if (args.length != 2)
    System.out.println("Usage: java copybyte srcfile dstfile");
    return;
    final boolean DEBUG=true; // switch for ascii display
    int ch; // the buffer{color}
    {color:#000000}// Create streams
    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream (args[0]);
    FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream (args[1]);{color}
    {color:#000000}while ((ch = fis.read()) != -1)
    fos.write(ch);
    if (DEBUG)
    System.out.print(ch);
    System.out.println(" "+Character.toString((char)ch));
    fis.close(); fos.close();
    }{color}
    But the following code outputs Asian characters in garbage to my text file:
    {color:#000000}import java.io.;
    // Does not seem to handle Japanese....
    class CopyLineIO
    public static void main (String args[]) throws IOException
    if (args.length != 2)
    System.out.println("Usage: java copyline srcfile dstfile");
    return;
    final boolean STRIP=true; //strip blank lines from file ??
    String buf,temp;
    // Create streams
    FileReader fr = new FileReader (args[0]);
    FileWriter fw = new FileWriter (args[1]);
    BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(fr); //wrap basic object
    BufferedWriter bw=new BufferedWriter(fw); //wrap basic object
    while ((buf = br.readLine()) != null)
    temp=buf.trim();
    if ((temp.length()>0)||(!STRIP)) {bw.write(buf"\n");}
    br.close(); bw.close();
    fr.close(); fw.close();
    Can anyone advise on what to change in CopyLineIO so that Asian characters work?{color} Thanks!
    PS Sorry about the code formatting - not sure how to get it looking decent here when pasted in....

    [From the documentation|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/io/FileReader.html]:
    Convenience class for reading character files. The constructors of this class assume that the default character encoding and the default byte-buffer size are appropriate. To specify these values yourself, construct an InputStreamReader on a FileInputStream. To post code use { code } // your code here { code } without the spaces or simple select the code and press the CODE button.

  • How can I display East Asian characters in MediaSour

    I am using Windows XP SP2 Chinese Traditional (Taiwan) edition, although I li've in the US.
    My system setting is by default Chinese Traditional, and I have enabled East Asian language support for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
    However, Creai've MediaSource has trouble displaying such East Asian characters, most of them look like random code.
    At the same time Windows Media Player can display all the music info just fine.
    I have a very large collection of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean music, so this function is very important to me.
    Please help if possible.
    I've read some previous posts about such issues, but most of them seem to involve the English version of Windows which is not in my case.
    Thanks in advance.

    I don't know why, but whatever I do, I can't seem to get the East Asian characters to work at all. I tried the control panels stuff, but when I use the "Get Info" thing before ripping a CD in MediaSource, I still get random characters.
    Go to MediaSource's Tools->Settings->Audio CD/Rip setting page. In there, you can then set a language to be used for CDDB info. Just try and error with the different language settings (use CDDB, use OS, or use a specifc language) and one of them will be the correct one. You may need to set a different language setting for different CDs.

  • Trying to add PDF icons to my Assignment Block (CRM 7 WebUI)

    Hello gurus,
    I am trying to display a pdf icon in every row of my assignment block in CRM 7 WebUI. I am using one click actions, so I have an actions column, and I the logic to make the icon image appear is in the GET_OCA_T_TABLE of the context node class. When I create actions like delete and edit, it is very easy to get the icons, for example, the following code works perfectly and the icons are displayed in the assignment block:
       ls_one_click_action-id      = 'DELETE'.
        ls_one_click_action-icon    = 'delete.gif'.
        ls_one_click_action-text    = ''.
    ls_one_click_action-id      = 'EDIT'.
        ls_one_click_action-icon    = 'edit.gif'.
        ls_one_click_action-text    = ''.
    But, I cannot add a pdf icon.... I have tried the paths to PDF icons in the MIME repository, and I have tried getting the PDF icons like this cl_thtmlb_util=>GC_ICON_FILE_PDF or with cl_thtmlb_util=>get_icon_url(pdf)... nothing displays anything but a broken image.
    Please help me!  <text removed>

    Now I have to open a PDF file in IXOS in a new window in the WEBUI....... how can I call a PDF in IXOS based on my an object ID??

  • Outgoing payment methods in CRM 7 webUI is not inline with CRMC_BUAG_PAYM

    Hi,
    We have requirement to set up outgoing payment at FICA document level for refund purpose.
    Currently this is feasible using FPE2 transaction in ISU.
    However, we have the requirement to have this option in CRM 7.
    In CRM 7, the navigation of setting up outgoing payment at document level is :
    Account Balance -> Account Balance Overview -> item display -> More -> Outgoing Payment.
    But, in the dropdown of payment method in that screen, I am getting only below options.
    Outgoing Payment via Bank
    Outgoing Payment via Payt Card
    I checked the configuration of payment methods in my Country code both in CRM and ISU and there EFT, CCard and Cheque refunds are already configured as outgoing payment method. This is the configuration of CRMC_BUAG_PAYM.
    Any suggestion as how I can populate those details in this CRM 7 WebUI dropdown ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Bodhisattwa

    Found this configuration in ISU.
    Also, refreshed the shared memory area for FICA in CRM SPRO. Now the issue is resolved and it is displaying correctly in CRM 7.

  • Displaying Asian characters on Solaris platform?

    I have a java application that can display Chinese, Japanese, Korean & Taiwanese (CJKT) on a Windows platform. It is able to display these characters on Windows because i have installed the CJKT locales and have modified the font.properties file to provide the necessary font mappings for the CJKT charsets. But, when i do the same modifications in Solaris (i.e. install the locales & modify the font.properties to provide mappings to various fonts that support the CJKT charsets) and run the application, i am not able to see the CJKT characters. The CJKT characters are displayed as boxes when the application is run in the en_US.ISO8859-1 locale.
    Could someone please suggest what can be done to enable the display of CJKT characters on an ISO8859-1 locale?
    It seems Solaris has locale-specific font installation. Is there any way a font from one loacale (say japanese) can be used in the other i.e. system locale (say korean) to display characters of the first locale (japanese)?

    Thanks, but it does not answer the question.
    I already have the required locales installed. It is just that i'm not able to display Asian characters on an English locale. I am using the Java logical font (serif), and the font.properties does map it to the various fonts that support the CJKT (Chinese, Japanese, Korean & Taiwanese) charsets, but still the application is unable to display the CJKT characters. It seems that java makes use of the X11 fonts and they happen to be installed in separate directories, one for each locale. This could be the reason why the other fonts are not available in the ISO8859-1 locale.
    Is there any way we can map use the fonts of other locales by making use of the java logical font?

  • New iTunes update (10.6) not displaying asian characters correctly.

    Just updated my iTunes to 10.6 and the new version is not displaying the asian characters in the artist or song titles. They are appearing in the album. Have restarted my computer multiple times.

    Same issue going on for me. Like daskaea said, it doesn't show up in the album grid, but shows up fine everywhere else. I personally am encountering this issue for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean scripts.
    Attempts to clear the name and re-enter it manually also do not work.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Regd: Handling of special characters in XML

    Hi ALL,
    i am using java mapping to conevrt IDOC XML to Flat file using SAX parse and then reading the whole content into a single Filed,the output of the java mapping is the input for graphical mapping .
    My problem is there may be some special characters  in the input IDOC. when ever these special characters come my java mapping is not able to Parse the IDOC.
    Please let me know how can handle this special characters.
    Thanks,
    hemanth.

    Hi ,
            Java has some characters reserved which is normally used to declare the Entity Name. To handle such kind of situations, you can replace these characters with these special characters, which get substituted automatically while parsing the XML file.
    Refer:

    I hope it helps.

    when i first try to sync my ipad 2 it gives me Asian characters.  how do I change it to English.

    I might have the same problem. Literally just plugged in my new iPad2 into my Win 7 iTunes 10.4. Clicked to register, and now it's up to what looks like the "Find my iPad" screen and it's all of a sudden in Chinese or something?

  • Missing Asian Characters in Chromium

    http://i.imgur.com/fvMYVPN.png?1
    It seems Asian characters (not sure if it's just Japanese and Chinese characters specifically missing or pretty much all Asian fonts) are missing in Chromium, and just show up as boxes.
    I have a few music files on my computer with some Japanese characters, and they show up fine in Nautilus and DeaDBeeF. So it seems the problem is only with Chromium.
    I also recall seeing similar behavior in other Linux distros (openSUSE and Ubuntu) with Google Chrome.

    These actually work a bit better Thanks!
    In my Gmail, I noticed one of my emails had two Japanese characters in the title that were un-readable with the previous fonts (stokes were missing). The strokes show up fine with the Adobe fonts though.

  • International Address Versions in SAP CRM 2007 WebUI

    Hi gurus,
    I have activated International Addres Versions in SPRO.
    In the SAP GUI, now there's a button 'intern. versions' available in transaction BP. When users create a new business partner, they can enter an address version in the international character set ( i.e. Cyrillic, Chinese, ... )
    I was wondering how I can do the same functionality in the CRM WebUI ? Is it possible to something similar ? I didn't manage to insert or display  these international address versions ...
    Thank you,
    Abjuh

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I have entered into my user id through su01.
    There I could find only one role: SAP_CRM_UIU_FRAMEWORK.
    I have removed that role and came out of the SAP CRM system and login to SAP CRM and webui, still by default interaction center page is displaying.
    I have checked my role in Org model and no where it is assigned.
    Though there is no roles and no assignment in org model, I have a doubt why it is showing the Interaction center screen.
    Please let me know, If you have any more suggestions.

  • Passing a wchar_t* containing asian characters into java

    I tried converting the wchar_t* into jstring in C, then passing that jstring into java, however, even though when I write the wchar_t* into a file, the asian characters read fine, the jstring in java becomes ????????????. Then I tried narrowing the wchar_t* into char*, then converting into jstring and passing that. Similarly, the char*, when written to a file, contains the proper asian characters, but when read in java, becomes ????????????.
    Any help is appreciated!

    Interesting - I will look that up. The following discussion would seem to disagree with that however.
