Handling Searching Images in OBIEE Web Services

We have a set of OBIEE web services (12 total) that are being presented on a SharePoint portal in embedded iFrames. Our business client has requested that we hide the searching.gif image (and related text) to avoid the mess that is produced with many of these reports being rendered per iFrame. We are using the setBridge method along with a new user created just for service-oriented reporting. Everything is working fine other than this "issue".
Is there any way to suppress the images? Can the images be customized for a specific user (i.e. replace serching.gif with a blank image)? Any other ideas?
Thanks!

searching.gif is referred through CSS files, thus replace the searching.gif (under res\sk_oracle10\b_mozilla_4) with another custom created blank gif and name it as searching.gif....rename the original searching.gif to searching_original.gif for reference.
caveat: This will affect your enterprise wide display.

  • Problem with OBIEE Web Service getHTMLForReport() Method

    Hello, I´m trying to develop an example using the OBIEE Web Services and I have a problem with the method “getHTMLForReport(String pageID,String pageReportID,String sessionID)” (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12103_01/books/AnyWebServ/AnyWebServ_Methods8.html).
    The problem is the next one: In the pageReportID parameter should contain a character string ID returned by the addReportToPage() method, but the addReportToPageMethod is a void method. (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12103_01/books/AnyWebServ/AnyWebServ_Methods4.html#wp1008810)
    Which is the value of the pageReportID parameter?
    Thank you.

    Yes, there seems to be a bug in the oracle documentation. Basically, the second parameter of the addReportToPage() method is a free text. You can put "report101" as value of second parameter. Then you have to use the same string in the getHTMLForReport()method.
    For example ..
    addReportToPage(pageId, "report2", reportRef, "Jaggi Di Report", null, null, sessionID);
    getHtmlForReport(pageId, "report2", sessionID);

  • Applying report filter when using OBIEE web services

    Hi
    Would like to know if it's possible apply report filter when using the web serivce ? Read from Oracle doc that there's this applyReportParams() method in ReportEditingService that could do the job. Can anyone confirm this ?
    Currently we've tried to access the report using the WebCatalogService, read the xml and retrieve the result using the XMLViewService successfully. However there's an additional requirement to pass in the report filter on the fly.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Gerardnico,
    I have a question regarding the OBIEE Web Services,
    We are using C # for Automation code to test Obiee Analysis Web Services,while designing filter in C # to call report we are facing difficulty with Presentation Variable using Variable value. Where as it is working fine for Column value.
    Note: The choice list has 2 custom values.
    So please guide me in this regard.

    Reddi, I have connected Xcelsius to OBIEE web services. It's the best of two worlds: superior obiee admin and web services performance and complete control over data visualization. See this post for details and code: http://www.bihappyblog.com/2011/05/15/connect-xcelsius-dashboard-to-obiee/

  • OBIEE Web Services into APEX

    I am trying to get an OBIEE web service to be presented on an APEX report.
    The first step is to create the Web Service reference and can be done using an Apex wizard. However, when I use the address http://xxx/analytics/saw.dll?wsdl I get an error saying the WSDL document was unretrievable. I can open the document directly in IE, OBIEE and Apex are on the same server and I am not using SSL.
    Has anyone experinced this before?
    Adrian

    Are you using hostname or the ip in the URL. I am wondering whether APEX is actually able to ping the server. Try using this http://ip/analytics/saw.dll?WSDL. Also, just remember that we cannot use OBI EE SOAP APIs directly within APEX since OBI EE SOAP APIs has multiple SOAP bindings. It will give you an error right in the next step. BI Publisher APIs will work just fine since it has only one SOAP binding but not OBI EE. I just typed this on my blog to your query there :-).
    Thanks,

  • Difference between a Search and a Retrieve web service?

    Anyone has any idea what's the difference between a Search and Retrieve web-services generated by the 7.1 WS Generator? It seems like you can use both to retrieve any kind of result definition and search by any field.
    I don't mind really, just curious if I'm missing something.

    Googling led me to this:
    Authentication:
    Portal: You log-in to the site. Provides you with information based on who you are.
    e.g. mail.yahoo.com
    Website: No log-in.
    e.g. www.yahoo.com
    Personalization:
    Portal: Limited, focused content. Eliminates the need to visit many different sites.
    e.g. you type in your user name and password and see your yahoo mail only.
    Website: Extensive, unfocused content written to accommodate anonymous users needs.
    Customization :
    Portal: You will select and organize the materials you want to access. Organized with the materials you want to access.
    Website: Searchable, but not customizable. All content is there for every visitor.
    e.g. you can navigate to yahoo mail, yahoo shopping, geo cities, yahoo group. If you wish to use any of these services you will either have to authenticate yourself and see things personalized to you or you can simply visit sections that are for everyone like yahoo news were if you are not signed in then the default sign in is guest.

  • How to add image in ejb web service

    Hello Community,
    I am writing web service to create a PDF file using itext API. In PDF file i want to add an image.
    Can someone please tell that , how can i add image(jpeg, png , etc.) to an ejb web service?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Dishant Chawla

    Hi,
    Please check the below code which i used to add image to the header using iText . Similarly you can add image directly to the document also as a element.
    Adding image as Header:
    httpServletRequest = request.getServletRequest();
    domainURL=httpServletRequest.getScheme()+"://"+httpServletRequest.getServerName();
    imgLogo=domainURL+request.getWebResourcePath()+"/images/XXXX.jpg";
    image =Image.getInstance(imgLogo);
    image.scalePercent(22);// As per you need
    chunk = new Chunk(image, 0, -20);
    HeaderFooter header_pdf = new HeaderFooter(new Phrase(chunk), false); // here i have added image as header
    header_pdf.disableBorderSide(0);
    header_pdf.setAlignment(Element.ALIGN_CENTER);
    header_pdf.setBorder(0);
    document.setHeader(header_pdf);
    (or)
    Adding Image a Element:
    httpServletRequest = request.getServletRequest();
    domainURL=httpServletRequest.getScheme()+"://"+httpServletRequest.getServerName();
    imgLogo=domainURL+request.getWebResourcePath()+"/images/XXXX.jpg";
    image =Image.getInstance(imgLogo);
    image.scalePercent(22);
    document.add(image);

  • How webDynpro handles exception thrown by adaptive web service

    Hi people,
    in design time, webdynpro can handle web service's exception by defining return structure based on the <b>Fault </b>which is the exception defined in the web service. But in the runtime, when web service throws exception, webDynpro can not handle it, WD framework will throw nullPointerException.
    The reason behind it might be: let me assume a WS <b>getEmployeeNumber</b>, the WS returns employee number as a element <b><EmployeeNumber></b>12345<b></EmployeeNumber></b> in the return SOAP document. I think WD always expects the element <b><EmployeeNumber></b> in the SOAP document, but in case of exception, web service throws exception and will not provide employee number in the return SOAP which is logical, thus the element <EmployeeNumber> will not be available in the SOAP document, therefore causes WD framework to raise <b>nullPointerException</b>.
    So any of you have any suggestion to make webDynpro working in case an exception is thorwn in the web service?
    Thanks for your infor
    Jayson

    To encourage people, I include the text of the xml response from the test of Web Service Navigator window :
    HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
    Connection: close
    Server: SAP J2EE Engine/6.40
    Content-Type: text/xml; charset=UTF-8
    Set-Cookie: <value is hidden>
    Date: Mon, 27 Mar 2006 09:30:50 GMT
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" >
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    <faultcode>SOAP-ENV:Client</faultcode>
    <faultstring>Hi, I'm the new exception</faultstring>
    <detail>
    <ns1:throwException_com.sap.demo.testexception.TestException xmlns:ns1='urn:TestExceptionServiceWsd/TestExceptionServiceVi' xmlns:pns='urn:com.sap.demo.testexception'>
    <pns:message>Hi, I'm the new exception</pns:message>
    </ns1:throwException_com.sap.demo.testexception.TestException>
    </detail>
    </SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    I've found too a strange workaround :
    The fact seems that you have to design your session bean without throwing custom exceptions, then generates the VI and after that, adding the custom exceptions throws.
    Or if you don't want to modify the bussiness methods.
    The point is to eliminate the exceptions (faults) sections from the VI and WS deployment descriptor.
    You have to access from Package Explorer, and edit with a Text Editor the following files :
    *.videf from the package, and remove <Function.Faults> sections
    ws-deployments-descriptor.xml in META-INF, and remove <fault> sections
    After that, the WS Configurations will give an error, so delete the configuration and remake it. Now, the VI stills looks bad, so close the project, close NetViewer and reopen it to flush whatever cache it seems to keep.
    Now, your VI will looks better without exceptions, and you'll get their messages when you catch them in the WebDynpro applicattion.
    So, now the question is: Could anybody explain me why ?

  • Best way to handle Interface Return Type for Web Service Method

    Hi All,
    i have the followinig situation. I would like to create a method as a web service:
    Customer getCustomer(someType){....}
    ie: getCustomer method, with a parameter that indicates some backend data source. The method returns a Customer object. However, depending on the datasource this method uses (which is dependent on the type passed in, ie FooDB, BarDB etc) then i return either a:
    FooCustomer extends AbstractCustomer implements Customer
    BarCustomer extends AbstractCustomer implements Customer
    Now this fails because JAXB cant handle interfaces because when sending XML over the wire it needs a concrete representation (as far as i understand).
    So how should i deal with this?
    Do I need to create a differnet method for each datasource (foo DB, bar DB), ie:
    FooCustomer getFooCustomer()
    BarCustomer getBarCustomer()
    or do i continue calling getCustomer but somehow indicate in the WSDL that I have an AbstractCustomer object and some other bits from FooCusotmer or BarCustomer or ....
    kinda stumpeed here? I wouldve thought itd be handy to be able to do this (ie: call one getCustomer() method and get back Customer objects representing nay type of customer ... in some way...but cant see how to achieve this.
    Any pointers would be greatly appreciated
    cheers

  • Handling multi byte languages in Web Service

    Hi,
    I am calling a web service and its working fine with English language i.e web service is returning correct parameters with English.
    But it's returning me Junk characters when i call web service with multi byte languages like Japanese, Russian etc.,
    Generally while configuring Web Service or calling a web service using proxy - it asks for a user id/ Pwd but not a logon language (unlike while you login SAP it asks for Logon Language) so i am thinking since there is no option to enter log on language, its taking a default language i.e English so when i am passing japanese its returning me Junk Values.
    Can any one please help me with this? How to handle multi byte webservice call? I am using ECC 5.0.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pavan.

    I appreciate your thought but our webservice must be able to handle multiple languages not only Japanese. Users might call webservice in any language they prefer. If i change it my default to Japanese, i will have problem when users call webservice in Russian.

  • Handling CDATA in servicegen created web service

    I've just started looking at web services. I've developed a simple web service, which returns a value object, which is then serialized by the web service, and the data elements are returned as strings.
    That's fine, but the problem I have is that some of the data elements in the value object may contain data which should be enclosed in CDATA segments.
    How do I handle that using servicegen?

  • How to call Jive Search methods using REST Web Services from ADF

    Hi
    Can someone provide me an example to call JIVE Search using REST web services from Webcenter ADF.
    As we have the similar facility to call UCM Search from WebServices DataControl.
    Do we have anything similar like this for JIVE Search?
    JIVE 5.1 is deprecating SOAP style web services and so I am planning to use REST.
    Any suggestions on this is much appreciated.

    so what exactly is the problem here?

    A SOAP command is the object that web services pass back and forth with a calling program in order to communicate. Here's an introductory article on Web Services
    I'll dig through my archives and try and locate the java example I mentioned. In the mean time, here is a blog that walks you through a simple C# .Net program that calls an OBIEE Request via web services. Check this article out.
    In order to assign points to a user, go to their post and near the "Reply" button you will see a button that says "Helpful" and a second that says "Correct". For each thread, you can give out 5 helpful posts (5 points each) and 1 correct post (10 points). It is customary to assign points based on the quality you deem the response is.
