Handling Units are released once a PGI or PGR is done?

Hello Gurus,
would you please let me know if I have handling units assigned to an inbound delivery oroutbound delivery, once I post the goods receipt or the goods issue, this handling unit numbers should be released from this documents, I mean, this HUs numbers should be un-assigned to this documents?
Is there a process after the PGR or PGI that should un-assign this Handling Units from the SAP documents?
Thanks
J.Alvarado

Thanks very much for this additional information.
I checked my handling units and all are in status 12. But there are handling units in the system from 2008.
I ran the program RHU_AR_ARCHIVABILITY_CHECK and the result was that for all this HU from 2008, the reason they cannot be archived is the next:
Reason 01 : Movement status of the HU does not allow for archiving.
Reason 04: Delivery document not archived.
Do you have any clue of what should I check regarding reason 01?
Thanks
J.Alvarado

Now please  go back to this handling unit and check the UOM for volume
Is it properly defined same as internal unit stored in database(unit_int)??

  • Serial numbers in handling unit

We generate handling units at the end of production line; the requirement is to capture and store the serial numbers into the handling unit (which works fine) and when the u201Csameu201D handling units are picked for outbound deliveries, the serial numbers are carried along with handling unit created during production which is not working, the system is currently requesting to key in all the serial numbers again during PGI. Can you please let me know how to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance

    Hi,
In case of partial HU picking only system will ask serial numbers for HU.
Eg:  HU qty - 10pc T.O qty :4pc then system asks which serial no's want to pick from HU.
If it is full HU no need to give serial numbers manually..
    Rgds,

    Hi Ramesh,
The material is having the Packing ( Handling Units).
In delivery please do the Packing for the Materials because they have linked with the Handling Units. and Also check the wheather the Handling Units are configured properly.
For your Information please go through the Below which will help you further.
The SAP Handling Unit Management system allows you to manage the entire movement of the handling units and the materials they contain rather than tracking each material individually.

A handling unit is a physical unit that consists of the packaging materials (load carrier / packaging material) and the goods contained therein. A handling unit is always a combination of materials and packaging materials. All the information contained in the material items, such as batches and serial numbers, is always available by way of the handling units.
Handling units can be nested, meaning that you can also create new handling units from several handling units as often as you like.
Handling units have unique, scannable identification numbers that can be formed according to standards such as EAN 128 or SSCC.
    Figure 1: Handling unit example
    Structure
The handling unit object contains the following attributes:
    •     Identification number
    •     Dimensions
    •     Weight
    •     Volume
    •     Status
    •     Materials and quantities
    •     Packaging materials
    •     Packing instructions
A handling unit consists of a handling unit header and handling unit items. For identification purposes, it is given a unique number.
    Handling unit header
The header data of a handling unit is divided in the following way:
    •     Weight/Volume/Dimensions
    •     General data
    •     Means-of-transport data
    •     Additional data
    •     Output determination procedure
For more information about each of these detailed points, see Editing detailed data for handling units.
    Status
The handling unit is linked to general status management. In this way, the various physical states (planned or implemented) and other attributes (weighed, loaded, blocked or posted goods issue) of handling units can be documented.
You can use the HU_ST_INIT user parameter when you create handling units without object reference to set which initial status the handling unit is to have when it is created.
If you want to implement a status of your own, you can define a user-specific procedure for the packaging material type (see also Define Packaging Material Types).
    Handling unit item
The items of a handling unit can consist of material items, packaging materials or other handling units that appear in an overview. For more information about this overview, see the Contents section of Editing detailed data for handling units.
To access the item data of an individual handling unit, select the handling unit concerned and choose Goto  Detailed HU data  Contents.
    Integration
Handling units can be used in all processes within the supply chain.

  • Handling units were changed. Cancellation no longer possible

    HI All
Iam trying to reverse goods movement using VL09 transaction code.
System shows an error "Handling units were changed. Cancellation no longer possible".
    Following is the history
Ii have a purchase order, outbound del with HU, inbound delivery with HU.
Due to some reason I have unassigned HU in inbound delivery and inb del has been deleted from system.
Then i tried to reverse the PGI doc for outbound del with tcode VL09
    Please advice
    regards
    satyaprasad

    Hi
As per your advice i tried steps(below) mentioned in SAPnotes but still Iam getting same error.
    Please advice
    1. Call transaction VL32N for processing inbound deliveries and search for the inbound delivery that is assigned to the outbound delivery which is to be reversed. For this purpose, use the search help E external delivery number of the vendor and enter "*<delivery number>" as the search criterion (the placeholder * is required because the delivery number has leading zeros).
    2. If the delivery contains handling units, go to the packaging screen. The next steps depend on whether handling unit management is active:
If handling unit management is inactive, delete the handling units of the inbound delivery.
If handling unit management is active, delete the assignment of the handling unit to the inbound delivery using the corresponding function. The handling units are then assigned again to the previous outbound delivery.
    3. Delete the inbound delivery.

  • Serial numbers in Inbound delivery for Handling units

    Hello Experts,
    I have the following scenario:
Purchase order + Inbound delivery + GR
Inbound delivery is used because I need to create handling units, the materials included in these handling units are serialized and I am getting from the vendor an excel document with Handling unit number and the serial numbers included in each handling unit.
So I would like to use this document to do the packing process in my inbound delivery instead of manually typing the serial numbers.
What would be the best option to do this?
I also need to do the same for MIGO when no HU are needed.
    Any Ideas??
Thanks a lot in advance for your comments.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer.
I would like to avoid creating my own Z transaction, is there any point in packing process where I can include some enhancement to upload the serial numbers, I gues the HU and packing process can be done manually by the user.
I was planning to enhance MIGO for the same process without handling units and I know that  there a tab can be added at item level. But I do not know where or how to do it while packing.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot for your time!

  • Goods Receipt with respect to Handling Unit (Transaction u0096 MIGO)

    Hi All,
A delivery is created for stock transport order for goods movement from Plant XXXX (Storage Location – YYYY) to Plant XXXX (Storage Location – ZZZZ).
Handling Units are packed on delivery and delivery is post goods issued from Plant XXXX (Storage Location – ZZZZ).
While posting goods receipt (Transaction – MIGO) without selecting “Via Handling Units” system populates the “packaging material” line item whereas when “Via Handling Units” is selected (in other words – when tried to post Goods Receipt with respect to Handling Units) system doesn’t populate the associated “packaging material”.
Requirement is to populate “packaging material” line item while posting Goods Receipt with respect to Handling Unit.
    Plz guide me.

    Hi Vatcan,
Chek the Inbound Delivery 1st weather you refer the right PO in it
You can also chek in  PO i
1 Me23n Go to confirmation tab here you can see the  Inbound delivery  quantity
2 Chek  which reference document you recived the goods,  (i.e You recived the goods with reference to PO or  Inbound delivery)
2 Coz if you refer the inbound delivery then syestem will deafult show the inbound quanity
And yes the actual quanity will update in inbound delivery if you refer the inbound deivery while reciveing the goods

    Hi
    Handling Unit Management
    Purpose
You can use Handling Unit Management (HUM) to reflect packing-based logistics structures in the SAP System. Using this method, you track the movements of entire handling units and the materials they contain rather than tracking each material individually.
When you base logistics processes on handling units, goods movements processing is made easier, which in turn optimizes all logistics operations. This simplified processing includes the existing packing function in shipping and warehouse processing in the Warehouse Management system, which is expanded here.
    Features
In the system, the handling unit (HU) expands on the shipping unit. Handling units can be nested, which means that you can create new handling units from several handling units as often as you like. At the material item level, HUs contain the complete material identification, the quantity, and, in the case of serial numbers, the respective object list. Handling units have unique, scannable identification numbers that can be developed according to standards such as EAN 128 or SSCC.
Handling units contain all inventory management information of the materials they contain that are maintained in Inventory Management. There are also status messages that you can call up at any time that indicate whether a handling unit is only planned or if the ship-to party has been notified of the arrival of this handling unit, or whether it is in the warehouse or has already been posted to goods issue. The integrated history function also records each business process in the life cycle of each handling unit, meaning that you can track the handling unitu2019s path and development at any time.
In HU-managed storage locations, all goods movements are executed through the specification of the respective HUs, and Inventory Management is performed through the handling units. If you are not working with HU-managed storage locations, you can use handling units (without stock information) as before in the delivery and in the shipment.
In HU-managed storage locations, materials can be managed in HUs only. Mixed stock (stock made up of packed and non-packed materials within the same storage location) is not supported. HUs can also be managed in interim storage types. Unpacking a material from an HU means that the stock of the material is posted to a storage location that is not HU-managed.
If you call up normal material movements in connection with an HU-managed storage location, a delivery is created, rather than a direct material posting, which has been the procedure up to this point.
Handling units are unique at client level in at least one system. Using an indicator at client level (see Unique Identification of Handling Units), you can control whether you are going to work with the HU functions. Since the handling unit is a physical unit, the central logistics processes are controlled through the input of the handling unit identification. These processes include putaway, picking, and stock transfers, as well as goods receipts and goods issues.
A handling unitu2019s mobility can be limited if quality checks are active. Changes in the stock category caused by a quality inspection are made using a posting change in the handling unit.
There is also a report available that you can use to find and display handling units using different selection criteria such as material, packing instruction, or storage location.
Although the handling unit is basically a unit that remains constant in the system, you can change it by repacking the materials it contains. All the packing functions, such as packing, repacking, and unpacking, are completely supported by the handling unit function. In this way, handling units can be created in production, during goods receipt, or in the packing areas of the warehouse. If you have automatic packing, the handling unit is created from the packing proposals defined in the system (from the packing instructions, for example).

  • Handling unit 1000001227 contains an item that cannot be assigned

THE HANDLING UNITS ARE CREATED WITH THE BATCH MANAGED MATERIAL HU02.
AT THE TIME OF CREATING DELIVERY,WHEN I GO TO SELECT THE HANDLING UNITS IN EDIT>PACK THE SYSTEM GIVES ME FOLLOWING WARNING,
Items subject to batch handling w/o batch assignment could not be packed
AND AFTER ENTERING THE SYSTEM TAKES ME TO THAT PACKING SCREEN AND WHEN I SELECT MY HANDLING UNIT THE SYSTEM GIVES ME THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE AND DOESN'T SELECT THE HANDLING UNIT,
Handling unit 1000001227 contains an item that cannot be assigned
ALTHOUGH THE SYSTEM SELECT THE HANDLING ONLY WHEN I MENTION THE ALL BATCHES,QUANTITY AND WAREHOUSE OF THE ITEM IN BATCH SPLIT.
ANY ANYONE TELL ME THAT HOW CAN I SELECT THE HANDLING UNITS WITH OUT MENTIONING ITS BATCHES IN THE BATCH SPLIT.
    REGARDS:VIJAY KUMAR

    Hi Vijay,
Based on the below error Items subject to batch handling w/o batch assignment could not be packed.
I think while creating the delivery check whether the system allocated the correct batch or not. If not created the batch then click on Batch split and Batch determination.
Then from the menu Batch determination -> W/o classification. Then system will show the all batches. Then select the coorect batch and copy the Qty.
Then try to do packing edit - > pack.
I think it will work fine.

  • Outbound del: handling unit creates pack item

    Hi,
I want in the delivery an extra line when I create a handling unit. Is this just one setting in customizing?
I know I have to create packing instructions and a verp material, but I want to know how to activate the extra 9000 line with
    the packing material.
    Thank you in advance,
    eric.

Have you solved your problem yet?
If the message "Handling unit xxxxx contains an item that cannot be assigned" occurs,
First: you should check, that the picking storage location of the delivery is the same than the one, where the batches and Handling Units are located.
Second: check the amounts. Are you sure you have the right ones and you are not trying to pick kilograms "KG" when you should pick tons "TO"?
I had this message also several times and mostly it was due to the mistakes, described above.

  • Handling unit system status

    Hello Everyone,
I am looking for system status of handling units.
In HUMO transaction, under tab-strip <b>Status</b>, we have <b>HU-specific data</b>. In this block, we have <b>System status</b> field, where the status of handling units are maintained.
I am trying to retrieve the value of this system status field from database table, but it takes me to structure VEKP_TXT under which there is one filed SYS_STATUS.
Could not find in which table the system status are stored by SAP.
The possible values of this status field are:
    PHEX
    UNLD
Anybody having idea where the value of system status field gets stored in database table.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Hi TG  ,
values comes from Domain , So try to get values from domain itself.
    <b>DDUT_DOMVALUES_GET</b>and name is <b>HU_SYSSTATUS</b>--->System status.

  • RFID-Alternatives to Handling Units in ERP?

    Hi,
During inbound and outbound delivery in SAP ERP, the Ids identifying the items can are stored in Handling Units in ERP. Our customer at hand uses an SAP Industry solution where Handling Units are not supported.
My question is, are there other data containers in SAP ERP to store the required IDs which would be supported throughout all processes?
I do understand that through ERP customizing several ID types are mapped through bit offsets. What I do not understand is where this data ultimately is stored if a document is created and how this data container could be changed
    Your support is highly appreciated!
    Cheers, Andi

    Hi Andreas,
The EPC (IDs) information created in AII is stored in AII only. It is not sent to ERP system with the delivery information. Refer to tables /AIN/DM_OBJECT  and AIN/DM_OBJ_CTX in AII where Ids are recorded. Document information is stored in table /AIN/DM_DOC.
Before flexible delivery scenario was intorduced by SAP, this information was stored in ERP in table AIDIDDATA. This has now been discontinued.
You can refer to flexible delivery scenario in service.sap.com/scm for more information on how delivery information is sent from ERP and the ASN is enriched with Ids from AII.
    Hope this information helps.

  • SAP Handling Unit Managment

    Hi folks,
I very urgently need some documents about SAP HUM.
    Can any one help me.
    Laxmanan

SAP HU - SAP Handling Unit Management (HUM)
The SAP HU is used for tracking the handling units used by the materials.  Some common handling units are packagings materials like cartons, pallets etc.
In the SAP system, the handling unit (HU) expands on the shipping unit. Handling units can be nested and you can also create new handling units from several handling units as often as you like. At the material item level, HUs contain the complete material identification, the quantity, and, in the case of serial numbers, the respective object list. Handling units have unique,

The integrated history function also records each business process in
the life cycle of each handling unit, meaning that you can track the handling unit’s path and development at any time.
Refer to : Logistics -> Central Functions -> Handling Unit Management
In HU-managed storage locations, all goods movements are executed through the specification of the respective HUs, and Inventory Management is performed through the handling units. If you are working without HU-managed storage locations, you can work with handling units (without stock information) as before in the delivery and in the shipment.
In HU-managed storage locations, materials can be managed in HUs only. Mixed stock made up of packed and non-packed materials within the same storage location are not supported. HUs can also be managed in interim storage types. Unpacking a material from a HU means that the stock of the material is posted to a storage location that is not HU-managed.
If you call up normal material movements in connection with an HU-managed storage location, a delivery is created, rather than a direct material posting, which has been the procedure up to now.
Please note that if you want to use 311 to move the material already in stock, but in a non HUM Storage Location and you want to transfer those materials into a HUM Storage Location 304.  If this is the case you can use the transaction VLMOVE with the destination plant and storage location. Before that you have to create the HU with the transaction code HU02 Storage location: where the material is and the status: in stock.
Handling units are unique at client level in at least one system. Using an indicator at client level, you can control whether you are going to work with the HU functions.
