Handoff continuity work half...5S / MBP 2014

Hi,
I have a MBP retina mid 2014 and an iphone 5S 8.1
Handoff and continuity work half :
What works :
Forwarding SMS / Imessage
Calling from my MBP by my iphone
Handoff MBP --> Iphone
What doesn't work :
Handoff Imessage (any text appear)
Handoff Iphone --> MBP
Receive a call on my MBP
Bluetooth is on and the same wifi network of course
I tried icloud logout on my mbp and my iphone + reboot ... same issue
Thanks for your idea and your help
Olivier

I am having this issue too.  I have a 5k iMac and a Macbook Pro.
Working items for MBP
instant hot spot
Handoff of applications
Not working items for MBP
Receiving calls
SMS Messaging
**Periodically this will work but noone can hear me.
Working items for iMac
SMS Messaging
Not working items for iMac
instant hot spot
Handoff of applications
**The calling feature will work for a day or two and then quit
Also, on my iPhone... the Forwarding text feature does NOT give me the option to turn on for both Mac's... it is only giving me one.  Depending on the sequence I reboot and sign out/sign in to my iCloud account determines which Mac i can forward to. Why is this not giving me the option to send to both??
I have turn on and off the iOS settings on my iPhone (imessaging, cellular phone, handoff, etc...) and I have done the same on my Mac's.  Plus I have signed in/out of my iCloud accounts on all devices.... just as I have read in other forums.  This is not fixing the issue.

  • Handoff/Continuity working on iPad 2 8.1

    Hello,
I have an iPad 2 and recently updated to iOS 8.1. I Also have an iPhone 5 iOS 8.1. I heard that iPad 2 should not support new iOS 8.1 and OS X Yosemite features due to incompatible bluetooth version but those seem to work great. Is it only me Experiencing this "issue" ? I was working on my iPad 2 and suddenly I could receive a phone call from phone number of my girlfriend (she has old nokia, so no facetime).
Please other iPad 2 users, give some iOS 8.1 feedback, because this is relly interesting.
    T you,
    MIchal

Call and SMS forwarding does not use handoff, so it will work flawlessy with iPad 2.

  • Handoff not working between iPad Mini Retina and 2014 Macbook Air

So, I've upgraded to Yosemite today on my 2014 Macbook Air and have updated to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPad Mini Retina.
Both are on the same wifi network. Both have bluetooth enabled and are paired.
Both have handoff enabled on them.
With all that, I cannot for the life of me get handoff/continuity to work between them. I've reset both machines and reset network settings on the iPad but still no joy.
    Am I missing something?
PS I don't have an iPhone, but I'm assuming it should work between an MBA and iPad?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello JMC1989,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like there is a problem with handoff. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Handoff/continuity only partly working

    I am trying to get handoff/continuity to work with my Macbook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2012--2.3Ghz--8G Ram--256GB SSD/Yosemite 10.10.1 ) and iPhone 6 (4.7" 128GB Space Gray/iOS 8.1.1)
I said partly because browser continuity works with browsing but it does not work with everything else.
    - When I open a webpage in IOS Safari, the left side of my MBPr's dock does show up that "continuity" icon Chrome/Safari and when I click on that, it does bring  me to the webpage I am checking on my iPhone.
    - When I open a webpage on my MBPr's Safari, a little Safari icon does show up on the downleft of my iPhone lock screen, I pull it up. It does bring me to the        webpage I was checking on my MBRr
What does not work with Handoff/continuity
    - Mail (when I open Mail in MBPr, Mail doesn't show on the other device. Same applies to open Mail in iPhone)
    - Messages (When I open Messages in MBPr, Messages doesn't show on the other device. Same applies to open Messages in iPhone)
    - Incoming Call (When my iPhone have incoming call, doesn't have incoming call notification show on my MBPr screen)
    What I tried/made sure
    - Made sure both device have bluetooth turned on and both under the same WiFi network.
    - Both MBPr and iPhone installed the lastest version OS and all patches available from app store.
    - Both MBPr and iPhone signed in with the same iCloud ID
    - Both MBPr and iPhone enabled Handoff.
    - Uncheck "iPhone Celluar Call" in my MBPr's facetime
    - Turn off and on Handoff/Suggest APPs in my iPhone
    - Restart both MBPr and iPhone multiple times
    - Cleared MBPr PRAM
    - Verified and Repair disk permission in my MBPr
    - Enabled Text Message Forwarding
    - Able to see my iPhone's personal hotspot under MacOS Wifi pulldown menu.
Anyone having the same issue and know how to tackle it? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Barney-15E,
I was using that word to refer to the process of Enabling Text Forwarding in the Messages settings on the iPhone that triggers the Mac version to show a Code Number which needs entering in the next stage on the iPhone.

  • Should Handoff and Continuity work with iOS 8 and Yosemite Public Beta 3?

I have an iPad Air with the latest iOS 8 update installed and a new iMac 27" with Yosemite Public Beta 3 installed and I can't get Handoff to work as described on either device.  Handoff is enabled in system preferences on the iMac and in settings on the iPad.  It will not display the bouncing icon for the respective app (i.e Safari or Mail) or they will not appear on the lock screen of the iPad.  Also, I cannot seem to get the Bluetooth LE to auto pair the iPad and the iMac.  Any help or insight with these issues would be greatly appreciated.  Maybe i'll have to wait  for the release of Yosemite to the public for everything to work.  But what is the Beta for?
    Thanks

I have the same setup, but on 2013 MBP w/Retina, same problem. No evidence of handoff, even though it is enabled on all devices and I've followed all instructions I can find online. Very disappointed, as I was most excited about this. I know its still beta, but you'd think on a 3rd public beta, when it worked in previous releases that it'd be working...

  • Handoff not working with Yosemite and iOS 8

I have three Macbook Pros in my household.  Two are mid 2012 models and the other a late 2012 model.  Each is supposed to support the handoff feature of Yosemite and ios8.  Everything seems to work properly between my daughter's late 2012 MBP and her iPhone 6.  But on the other two MBPs in our family the continuity feature does not work on either of them.  Receiving and sending calls works fine.  But the continuity does not work even though all three MBPs and all three iPhone 6 are on the same wifi network.
I've tried all the suggestions that I could find.  Toggling off and on the various settings on the MBPs and the iPhones.
    John

Thank you for responding to my issue.  I spent the better part of two hours trying to get this to work.  Bluetooth is enabled on all devices. Each computer is set in Preferences/General to allow Handoff.  All computers and iPhones are on the same WiFi network.  I toggled all of the major settings off and on.  Rebooted each of my computers several times. I finally conceded defeat.  Then my daughter asked to have a try at it.  She worked on the first MBP for about thirty minutes and informed me that she had gotten continuity to work.  And indeed, on her MBP late 2012 she is able to use the continuity features in both directions between her computer and her iPhone 6.  But it only works with Mail and Safari.  I asked how she accomplished this feat.  She said she turned off "everything" on her computer and iPhone (WiFi, Bluetooth, "Allow handoff" under Preferences/General) and then rebooted both the iPhone and the computer.  She then turned everything back on.  This worked for her.  So we tried the same thing on my MBP and iPhone 6.  Now continuity works partially. Email activity is mirrored on both the MBP and the iPhone regardless of which device initiates the continuity activity.  But Safari activity on the computer is mirrored on the iPhone but not in the opposite direction.  There is no continuity function for Pages in either direction.  The telephone connectivity works fine on all of my devices– 3 MBPs, Mac Pro, iPad Air, 2nd gen iPad and 3rd gen iPad.

  • Another Handoff not working - Apple has some work to do still

By the number of post I see about handoff problems…. it looks like Apple still has some work to do on this feature.  I have read countless forum posts and replies and it seems that a large number of us are having trouble with this feature.
I have pulled all my hair out trying to sort this out…. not so much as I care about the feature as I am the type that can't stand it when I can't get something working.
My hardware is all supported 2012 MBP with Yosemite Bluetooth LMP 0x6
    iPhone 5s
    Same Wifi
    Bluetooth on both devices
Both on same iCloud account turned on and active
Both have handoff enabled in respective settings
The only time I have been able to get it to work is when I wipe both iCloud accounts and then sign back on after a restart then I get the handoff dock icon when doing something like creating a new email.  But it will works once or twice and then stops all together.  Randomly sometime the icon will be on the lock screen of the iPhone.
    Very frustrating Apple!
(Yea I know 1st world problem)

Over the last week I have tried every "Windows Vista" combination of unchecking handoff, FaceTime, and signing in and out of iCloud while patting my head and rubbing my belly.  And absolutely nothing worked.  A few times I got handoff to work one time and then disappear again after a restore and power cycle but none of the countless tips I have read and seen worked.
Until today.  I was listening to the iMore Podcast this week and they were ranting about all the people that are having continuity issues and one small blurb was mentioned that I had never heard, and this little gem was solving the handoff woes for some people.  So what the heck I have tried everything else and this was simple enough.
The solution:  Change the name of your iPhone.  Setting>General>About>Name
I did this in combination with all the other Windows Vista Vudoo Handoff, FaceTime, iCloud off on both devices then power cycle.
Well once I restarted and got everything turned back on.  It worked perfect…. everything single aspect is not working as Apple had intended it to work.
Go figure…. who would have thought????

  • Handoff not working to iPhone

    Hi
Handoff is working from my phone to my laptop but it is not working the other way.
Has anyone else had this issue
    Thankyou in advance

Hi, it's first time for me here, just to say that to me handoff does not work. And there is nothing to do, cause I try everything but there must be some kind of trouble in OS X or in IOS. I have read many replies, try everything could find. Restart, initialize, reset, logging out from iCloud both devices (mbp 2014 and iphone 6 plus) then login in again, same result. At the very beginning they work, but when you close, example, safari on mac and after few minutes you have to launch it again, stop.. they cannot see themselves, they don't work again; the same for iphone to mac.
Even the calls, one is ok, the next not, the another one again ok.
Needless to say that I have followed all that I have read in this forum too, restore PRAM and other, but it's just like working on Windows: maybe it will works, maybe not. It was long time that I don't know anymore this kind of problems, but now here it is.
Sure we have to wait for a bug fix, another one, but to iOS or to OS X I don't know..
I'm really disappointed, this is not Apple. This is another thing. I don't care if it's cool or not, I abandoned the use of windows because of these ****, at the time of leopard when there was an update, for example, everything was smooth from start up, maybe there were fewer things but better made.
I want it that when I turn on the mac for this to work without needing to do anything. It seems too much?

  • Handoff not working with Macbook air (mid 2012)

So, I just updated to Yosemite and I have enabled all the settings on my Macbook Air (mid 2012), iPhone and iPad.  Turned on blutooth, same wifi network, etc...  Handoff DOES work from my Mac to the iPhone but will not work from my iPhone to my mac.  I've searched high and low and can't figure out why its not working...  Any ideas?

*UPDATE* I was able to drop a file to my iPhone via AirDrop FROM my MBP to iPhone. However, I've still been unable to do the reverse (iPhone to MBP).
Same exact situation with same exact MBP (mid 2012 machine). iPhone 5S running iOS 8. I had been trying to go iPhone to MBP for about 30 minutes with no success. Neither Handoff or AirDrop would work. The MBP would recognize the iPhone in AirDrop, but the iPhone would never recognize the MBP as a location to "drop" to.
After reading you post, I tried the reverse (MBP to iPhone). I started an e-mail and got the mail icon on my iPhone lock screen. However, when trying to access the message on the iPhone i received connectivity errors and the "draft" never loaded.
Perhaps the server on the cloud they use for the handoff/airdrop/continuity feature is overloaded due to the rollout. Either way it's entirely more complex to use then it should be.

  • Can you setup handoff to work with two mac computers on the same network?

I am attempting to setup handoff to work with two computers on the same network. I cannot seem to get it to work. Should I be able to?

I'm not sure but I haven't seen anything on the Apple site that indicates that it would not work. The following troubleshooting documents may help: Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite - Apple Support
Note in particular the Mac models supported. The other thing that occurs to me is that in addition to being on the same network they would have to be within Bluetooth range of each other.

  • Exchange mail account doesn't work anymore in MBP

    Hello everyone
I am new to Apple products. I purchased my MBP 13" in Aug 2013. Since then I have been facing issues with Mail app in my MBP.
I use Exchange account from my office (Exchange server 2003) and I got the settings from my administrator. I tried installing those settings in my Windows PC and Android Phone, and they all work with no problems. But, with the same settings, it never works in my MBP. Then he gave me IMAP settings for the same account. These do not work too. They worked once for a while (one month roughly) and then I received an OS X update 10.9.2 on 5th of March 2014 and then it stopped working in MBP again. I tried removing the account and added newly, but doesnt work. I tried changing the port numbers, SSL, so on but to no solution. I even contacted the online chat support and telephone support for hours but no one could fix it.
When I go to my administrator, he says it works in all our computers, and its not functioning in your MBP, so he goes raging me to contact apple as he sees no issues from him side. I kindly request someone to help me solve this issue please.
    Regards
    Vinay

I have the same problem. Thankfully one which was missing came back. I printed it out and made a PDF of it since it was an important one I'd been looking for.
I have three icloud email accounts which folders for each one. Now they mostly come up in my inbox instead of the correct folder and they won't move to the correct one.
    Come on Apple, fix this.

  • Healing brush working half of the time

Hello guys. I ve started to use Photoshop cc and I am having really irritating issue with it that I never had with previous versions. My healing brush working with 50/50 success rate. After I pressed ALT then I am putting my pen on skin that I want to fix and it is working half of times, so I am sitting and re-pressing many times on same pieces, which slows me down badly. Also animation of brush not going either, same issue when I am doing with mouse. I have other really old version of Photoshop and it is working proper, what is wrong with my CC version?

  • Handoff/Continuity/Airdrop Between iPhone & iMac

    Hi
I believe that its only iMacs 2012 and beyond that will support Handoff/Continuity/Airdrop with an iPhone 4S and above running iOS 8.1. I have a late 2009 iMac running OSX Yosemite and my iPhone 5 will be running iOS 8.1 come Monday.
My question is, would I be able to use Handoff/Continuity/Airdrop from Monday onwards if I had this device installed on my iMac?

    Thanks
    Baz

It's not supposed to work; doing that requires a 2012 or newer Mac.

  • Handoff stopped working after I created a new user space on Mac

Handoff was working between a iPad mini 2, a iPod touch and a Mac mini untill I created a new user on the Mac to use as my primary user. To attempt to repair the problem I have turned the 'Handoff'' switch, on the iOS devices and the checkbox on the Mac 'Allow handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices' on and off. I also changed the name on the old user account and used the original name on the new one. I checked to make sure that all devices were signed in  to iCloud with the same Apple i.d. I also selected the same email address to be first in the 'you can be reached by FaceTime at:' field. Continuity seems to be working; If I make a note on  one device it is immediately reflected on the others. I would sure like to see it all working again.

If you have deleted the account all the data are removed. Nevertheless, to be sure have a look at your /Users folder to see whether there's a folder named Deleted Users. Normally the home folder of any deleted user is moved into that folder. So to remove everything completely you have to erase the previous user's home folder from Deleted Users.
But to speak frankly, I think there's absolutely nothing to worry about having more than one user account. I have multiple accounts on my machine and never experienced any problems so far. The core system of OS X is Unix and that's a _multiuser system by design_ ! It was created from the start with more than one user in mind. The files of each and every user are held strictly separate - the most obvious and straightforward consequence of that being the complex concept of permissions.
So if there are more than one users who work with the computer it is reasonable for the admin to create an account for each one!

  • Safari not show on dock macbook pro using handoff continuity from my iphone 5s!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi People,
I just have problem with continuity not show safari in the dock when I'm playing on my iphone but if I use my ipad Yes safari show on the dock,  all the rest of the apps Yes like calendar or mail, I did the same at the macbook pro of my wife and works perfectly we have the same macbook model.
It's very strange problem yesterday I did a full restore of my iphone thinking was the problem but not, my wife had a Iphone 5c and continuity works flawlessly.
My iphone is 5s and I have a macbook pro late 2013 retina.
    Any help!!!!
    Thanks.

    Hi Eric,
Yes I do have Safari on the dock what i say it's the new function with OS Yosemite when you available the Handoff you can use your iphone and see in the left down corner a small window pop if you open in your iphone for example mail at your Mac will pop this window in the left corner.
In my case I can see most of the apps but not safari, the most estrange part  is when I use my ipad yes they do pop this small window safari in my MAC.
    Thanks.
